Great service from the staff! Rubie went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed and made our night special!

Came in Wednesday had fish and chips the fish is now haddock 100% better flavour. Even had a couple of floater coffees after thanks to the lady in her own top her name was Amy

Was a lovely meal with friends and a very enjoyable atmosphere as all the staff were friendly. Excellent beer on draft and the food was tasty. Will be returning very soon.

The drinks are so overpriced and is driving us away to other pubs that are so much cheaper. £6.15 for cruz campo when you can go into the centre of newark and pay £4 per pint. Marstons are exploiting customers its cheaper in the centre of London. This needs to be rectified.

Had a great meal here on a Tuesday night which was unexpectedly busy. Waited a little while but not too long baring in mind how busy it was. Food was great, steak was cooked to perfection. Sam and the other staff out front were running round like headless chickens dealing with a very loud and rude group of people. Compliments to the cooks who got some delicious food out in decent time.

We came here for a good catch up and I must say the service was fantastic one of my friends had some dietary requirements and the staff member that looked after us went above and beyond for us nothing was to much trouble, we had a good laugh with her aswell, we asked her name as we want her to get the recognition that she deserves her name was Jodie , the food was hot and came out very quickly the cleannesses of the place was very good. We will definitely be back and we definitely recommend to friends and family

Called in for the speed quiz night. Perfect evening had lots of starters which were on a deal. Food was fantastic. Such a lovely atmosphere will be back.

Popped in for a pint on our way home from town and decided to have some nibbles. As we were sitting at our table enjoying the drinks, a very attentive server (Lexi), spotted that we were looking at the menus and came over to see what we would like to eat. I had hot maple wings - good portion size, nice and warm + sauce was very tasty. Would have been perfect with a little sprinkle of garnish to add a bit of glamour maybe? Daughter ordered Mac n cheese but wanted it plain, and got exactly what she asked for 😁 Again good potion size, nice and warm and also very tasty. What made the visit especially good for me was how professional, polite and helpful our server was, so thank you again Lexi - Good job!

Today’s meal was not up to the usual standards. We had 2 roast beef dinners. The potatoes appeared to be overcooked or reheated. The whole meal was average. We both asked for Cauliflower cheese and when it came it was cold, undercooked and one portion sufficient for two, we assumed it came with the meal but ended up paying for two sides and leaving half. The beef was really nice and the kids meal was good.

Better than our last couple of visits. Great mixed grill.

If I could give minus 1 I would. I have never had such a terrible meal ever! All 8 of us had food that wasn’t fit to eat. Prawn cocktail was thin sliced iceburge lettuce on top of teaspoon of some sort of sauce and then prawns on top. Had to use the Mayonnaise on the table and empty it onto my plate it was shocking followed by an over baked potato with what should have been chicken but was in fact pork and fat. Couldn’t find the peri peri sauce or cheese! Be warned it’s not cheap but the food is! Avoid it wasn’t even busy but I’m not surprised.

Although the prices are alot dearer now the quality of food is better.i had steak as it was on offer and it was lovely,best i have tasted for a long time.

Called in with my hubby for early tea. We both had the gammon which was absolutely delicious. Special mention must be made to the staff, Harvey, Jodie and Lucy who went above and beyond ...all checking that all ok with our meal. They are an asset to the pub.

Taken my mother out for lunch and wasn't disappointed. Decided to both have fish and chips and, food was hot and good portion. The waitress was polite and helpful. Atmosphere was good and speed of service was excellent. Will return again.

Great food quick servings, a polite young girl was taking orders, serving and also cleaning up, Darcie was very helpful and very sweet with the young children too, she made sure food was to it’s best standard for everyone and any issues was sorted quickly with no hassle!! Thank you !

I came for Sunday Lunch with my wife and the reception and the seating was very good. The food was good well presented but lukewarm as the plates were cold. I did approach a waitress and mention this fact who said she would inform the kitchen management. I would consider visiting the restaurant again but only if the food was presented hot. Its a shame as the decor and presentation of the restaurant is very good.Mine was not an isolated incident several other diners had the same problem. Good food needs to be served hot.

Great food and great service from Darcie, very happy to get all we needed and cleared away promptly. Reasonably priced and despite being a busy pub, was relatively clean and tidy for a Sunday afternoon.

Pleasant experience, a warm welcome when coming into the restaurant. Seated promptly and drinks order taken very quickly. We didn't have to wait long for drinks and to place our food order which arrived in a good time, the presentation of the food was good and the quantity and quality was great too. Th friendly staff were easy to talk too and get hold of if we needed anything. They checked on us to make sure everything was okay but not in a intrusive way. Pudding was great too, arrives quickly again. We didn't feel push to leave when we'd finished and the atmosphere of the place was great.

Meals are served from 11.30 am and we ordered fish and chips and gammon steak. It took about 30 minutes for the meal to be served and it was not freshly prepared and piping hot. The ice cream sundae for pudding was not served until we declared it, and there was no raspberry sauce on it, just a glassl of sundae with a bit of ice cream and a rolled biscuit stuck in it, not like the one in the picture on the menu. The restaurant was noisy during the school half-term holidays when a group of about 20 children and their parents arrived in a group, making it difficult to have a quietly meal. It was disappointing that the waitress did not come to check the service, the pudding was not brought to us unless we declared it, and we had to wait another 15 minutes for the pudding, which was not served immediately after we asked for it.

All meals fine apart from my kebab and fries. My chicken came out mostly cold but slightly warm in some places. They returned my food hot but I was put off the chicken. They did then give us 30% off.

Visited with friends last week the food was great, and drinks were very good for the price, will be definitely going back, kian the chef on shift made great meals for us all!

Great time for a relaxing lunch out with my partner! The waitress rubie kept coming and checking on us which really made us feel like we were cared for! and the Chef Kian who made the food, did a very good job!

Great service, great food and decent price, it was my 2nd date with my partner and it was relaxing and we both enjoyed the experience thank you for making it special for us also may be offer a romantic menu with sharing desserts and other things to share for a set price

On arrival, they couldn't check the bookings, so ask us to sit in the aisle next to the door, i had booked away from this area due to high footfall and the cold door. I pointed this out, and i assume the manager (female late 40s , short, blond hair) took this personally and pointed over to a reserved table still in the main area but away from the doors. There were plenty of others, but she was not interested. Our hostess was lovely, seemed on edge and nervous whenever the manager was around. Drinks and food were ordered where the starters took 30 mins to arrive. This was the sharing chicken wings. They tasted good. However, the portion was incredibly small, 8 wings for 9.99! I thought they had made a mistake, but nope! Mains then took another 40 mins to arrive. My friend was going to ask where the food was when they brought it out. I did note that 3 other tables near us ordered after us and received their orders before us, so did my friend. Food arrived well cooked I had the hot burger and fries, again disappointed with the burger itself. Very small, very much like a mcdonalds size, hardly any pulled pork, no much flavour, and the patties were overcooked and dry. My friend had the mixed grill and left most of the chicken and sausages. Chicken was like rubbber, and the sausages were clearly cheap and deep friend as they were dripping in fat. Ordered another pepsi to finish, but it arrived flat! The young hostess was lovely and didn't stop moving and got a tip as she deserved it. The tawny, however, has massively dropped in quality, portion sizes, friendliness, and massively disappointed me from my last visits. Wont be coming back, I'm fraid.

One hour and 10 minutes for a burger and fries, the fries come out cold the bonnet was still frozen and delivering to take it off the bill bag service won’t come again

Went for lunch today as there is a new menu, the lamb donar flatbread is amazing be prepared it is a large dish. As always a really nice atmosphere with friendly and helpful staff. Kaylee, Sam and Amy today front of house but well done...

Looking at the food on menu. Description and pictures. The food that arrived at the table looked nothing like the menu. Food was substandard and luke warm. We didn’t complain on the night as the evening was organised via a sports club and we didn’t want to spoil it. . When we gathered at the end of the evening a lot of our party felt the same way. One consolation we did have a 30% off mains voucher. Would we come again no we wouldn’t.

Today we had lunch at the Tawny Owl. On a positive note the member of staff was polite, and I enjoyed the beer. But that's where the positive comments end. The Sunday roasts were awful, served lukewarm and so overcooked it was tough to pierce a roast potato with a fork and the broccoli disintegrated into a mush. We were not provided with cutlery or napkins and had to find our own from nearby tables. Yes, I received a discount when informing a member of staff. But that really did not come close to making up for an extremely disappointing experience.

Came to tawny for meal a couple of times. Every time one member of staff Nathan seems to be working really hard. He’s always ensuring we have everything we need and makes sure to get anything we need almost immediately.

Went in for a family meal to celebrate a birthday, the service by kasey was great, recommended some of the desserts and we all loved them! Great place to go for a family meal.

The food is lovely , full of flavour, Abi our server was lovely my little lad adored her haha. Will be back for another visit.
