Long wait for terrible food, expensive beer. Ordered sirloin steak when it eventually arrived it was more than half rock solid sinew and the whole plate of food barely warm, definitely avoid this place. At nearly £7 a pint I thought I was in London let alone the delights of Newark…

Food was delicious and our waitress Darcie was excellent

Lexi served us this evening, and was most pleasant, offering advice and suggestions. She is a great people's person and really great in the role she had this evening. Food and atmosphere were good this evening as well.

Staff were lovely, helpful and very efficient, nothing was too much trouble, didn't have to wait long at all for each course and the food was nice, prices very reasonable especially with the offer code for 30% off mains

We came here for the first time this evening after being recommended by a work colleague. The food was fantastic, service was great and easy parking with electric vehicle charging facilities.

Had a great evening celebrating my daughter’s 11th birthday. Kaitlin who was serving our table all evening was fantastic got us everything we needed and was very polite and engaging and made a fuss of our birthday girl.

Lovely evening out with family, bitterly cold November evening, but lovely & warm inside. Service prompt & meals affordable with 30% off voucher. Food nice & hot too. Probably the best meal we've had out for awhile.

Went for my daughter’s birthday was a nice meal out but overpriced in our opinion for the actual quality of the food served, staff were friendly and welcoming but slow to clear plates and glasses. Nice relaxed atmosphere though and everyone had a smile on their face throughout and we had a good time

I don't understand all of the reviews. We have been twice and both times it seemed a pointless pub to go to. The food was flavourless and not very warm and the portion sizes were small. It's definitely not good value for what you get. Wouldn't go back

Great service all round and we were treated professionally by Darcy and Nathan. Nothing was too much bother for them and were warm and welcoming.

Food was OK, all plates cleared up. Service was very good, we asked for some extra gravey no troubles. We came as 2 families so they kept the bills separate but have us the discount as a table thanks. Darcie was great and ensured we had a nice time

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Tawny Owl is by far our favorite pub in the area! We pop in regularly, and every time we’re greeted with a warm welcome from Kaylee, the General Manager, and Sam, the Manager. They’ve created such a friendly, relaxed atmosphere that we always feel right at home. We don’t usually go for the food, but the menu looks fantastic, and we can see how much effort goes into everything they do here. It’s a true family-friendly spot, and the staff always go out of their way to make sure everyone has a great time, including the kids! If you’re looking for a cozy, welcoming pub with top-notch service, The Tawny Owl is the place to be. It’s a true gem in our community, thanks to the wonderful team led by Kaylee. Highly recommended!

A nice ambience and good food. The restaurant was comfortable and not too noisy. The server was helpful and friendly. The food was good but the The Ultimate Spicy Beef Burger was not very spicy and needed more Jalapeños. The 30% discount was much appreaciated to help with the costs.

The fish was very thin and overcooked I've no idea what type of fish it was because there was so little of it. It wasn't plaice. Someone was vaping while we were eating which was unpleasant

Great family pub & dog friendly. Staff are great and very friendly, food is nice too. Pool table and TV too for sports etc. Outside area is nice for sitting out in the sun.

Food was cold, staff spent more time in the back which was a nightmare when you have to order from the gluten free menu! They need to expand on the gluten free menu as you limit people so much. It's not their fault they have allergies!

I sent the bbq cauliflower wings back trice first time all glued together and Luke warm Second time burn but asked staff why he brought them out like this he had no idea ! Please see picture ! Staff training required I asked the manager and she said the chef was on a break !

Sadly, on this visit the food was only OK, I'd usually say it was excellent for the money. Plus the bottle of wine we tried was not nice at all (had to add tonic water) and was over £20, ought to have been more like 12, but that would not improve the flavour, just make it more palatable.

Was greeted at entrance by young lady , very pleasant,and was shown to our desired table ,and was told to sit at table and await waitress to give drink order . 2 minutes later Amy B , came and took order and received drinks quickly . Amy then took our food order ,and within 15 minutes arrived ,Food was well presented ,Hot ,and very tasty .Amy B came to us on several occasions to ask if food was ok and any more drinks required .? Service by Amy was superb ,always smiling ,a credit to your company .Thankyou

Reserved a table for 5pm , greeted by a lovely waitress at the door .Darcie was our table waitress and she gave excellent service . We were asked by Darcie if we had an allergies , very important these days . The food good , mixed grill and chicken burger followed by sticky toffee pudding delicious would recommend.

I have not been to this restaurant for about 3 years. 3 years ago, food and service was awful! Yesterday the food was excellent, the service was excellent, the staff were lovely, the price was brilliant. I’ve already made plans to visit with other friends.

Went to The Tawny Owl for lunch with some friends and we had a blast! The service was amazing, the food was hot and tasty and the atmosphere was lovely. I recommend this place to anybody looking for somewhere good to eat that caters for all!

Amazing staff! Lucy served us our drinks and delivered food to our table. She was very polite and well mannered. She did made sure our meals were up to our standards during and after the meal. Which they were. We told her “compliments to the chef”, she let us know that it was Kian who made our food and plated up. Was amazing presentation and amazing food! 10/10!🤍

I recently visited the Tawny Owl with my family, and there was a girl called Annaleece who served us. Let me just say this about her, very presentable, kind and funny also polite. She put us first all the time and she took her time with us as we had a 4 year old and 5 month baby, she gave us good recommendations with the food and always came to check on us regarding our food or if we needed anything else. The food was unreal so no complaints there and it was perfectly cooked, and the ambiance was warm and inviting. We will definitely be coming again. Five stars for the excellent service and delicious meal!

The sticky toffee pudding only gets 1 star and zero stars for the vanilla ice cream. The main course was nice and the service was good

We came in for dinner after a weekend away and long drive back up the A1. The location is great. Always a great atmosphere, especially on a Sunday evening when the quiz is on. The food is always quickly served, hot and tasty. A special mention to the chef Matthew that was on in particular. Making sure my dietary needs were caters for.

Jodie was a star. Friendly, professional always smiling and she had a really genuine personality. Music was way too loud for such a small venue. Luckily we had a table furthest away bit if we hadn't we'd not have stayed, so worth considering the volume to avoid losing custom.food was pretty good with steak a bit chewy but tasty. Overall Jodie and the service made the experience.

A wonderful meal out with my husband, with some amazing friendly and welcoming staff. A big thank you to Kaitlin who was only on her second shift but was a real asset to the restaurant team and was even concerned she had messed up when she hadn't. Also a big thank you to Jodie for her unwavering hospitality whilst we were at The Tawny Owl and as we were leaving. Would highly recommend and will definately be back.

I came here with my family around 2 pm and ordered a gammon steak and 2 beef lasagnas it was very nice and tasty we tipped the chef called max who made our lovely meals. Will be coming here again soon

Taken there by friends who live in a nearby village. It's a relatively new build pub/restaurant and offers the usual Marston's fare. Service was excellent with very friendly staff

We booked online, which was quick & easy. We were seated as soon as we arrived and a waitress took our drinks order within a few minutes. Food arrived in good time and was hot. Portion sizes were a little smaller than expected but overall my wife and I were happy with our meals. Our waitress was friendly and attentive and was very pleasant to our 4 year old daughter. Would visit again :)
