When the Cafe service is slow and you have to queue for a long time, and you have to deal with parking issues on top of that, it is not worth spending time to relax with friends in the cafe. I mentioned this to Parking Eye regarding a fine and provided evidence I was a customer in Booths meeting my friends and still ended up having to pay for the parking fine. It is ridiculous that there isn’t an option to pay to stay beyond 2 hours when it is perfectly reasonable to spend a bit more than 2 hours in a cafe with slow service. They should reconsider ParkingEye instead of looting their customers over silly parking fines and not offering options to stay longer. I will not be visiting this establishment again and will advise my friends to do the same. Disappointing because I do enjoy visiting this place quite often

I've just been to Booths cafe for a full English breakfast and I certainly got that and more! My cappuccino arrived first. It not only looked the part but tasted great. After waiting just over 10 minutes 'IT' arrived or should I say my gorgeous breakfast! As you can see from the picture it just looked delightful and freshly made! As I got stuck in to my breakfast one of the members of staff called Jaz asked if I'd like a top up of hot milk or water in my coffee, which was very kind. (What a friendly, happy lady. Thank you Jazz!) Anita, another friendly staff member ( team leader) asked if I'd entered the Booth's Draw. I hadn't so she very kindly offered to get me a Booth's competition card. I Just had to come on Trip Advisor to say thank you for a lovely breakfast Booth's Fulwood and big shout out to Jazz and Anita. ( By the way) Anita brought me a little brown box to take my vine tomatoes home because I couldn't quite manage to eat them all. Thanks A,J and Booth's!!

I took my elderly relative expecting to have a lovely afternoon tea as advertised in the menu. However on asking for this, the staff seemed very reluctant to serve us afternoon tea, also telling us they had no scones! It was 1pm, the cafe wasn’t busy and it is next door to Booths supermarket, surely they can get more supplies from there? I then asked for harvester bread sandwiches but then was told no brown bread! Very disappointing. We did order ham sandwich which had decent ham.

I dropped in, like many people do, after a hospital visit and before doing a bit of shopping. I stood 45 minutes in the queue. It didn't look especially long, so who knows why so slow? I couldn't have my first choice as they had no access to cream cheese without chives ( which I am sensitive too). So I ordered scrambled eggs and smoked salmon on toast. When it turned up ( 40 minutes later) - after I'd asked how much longer it would be - it wasn't worth the wait. Dry eggs with some scraps of salmon ( which was nice) qnd fluttered with some pea shoots. Of course a silly price as well but I'm used to that. They apparently have a new menu. It seems worse than the old one. I'll be popping into the M &S in the hospital next time.

The most disgusting breakfast I’ve ever had. The service was shocking. Waited in line to order for about 15 minutes, barely any food available, the lady on the counter kept shouting into the kitchen asking if they had enough of this and that. Staff miserable and incredibly slow. All tables dirty. Food took ages. The full breakfast we ordered was disgusting, we couldn’t even cut the eggs?? Should be ashamed they are sending food out like that. Do not eat here

The whole establishment (cafe and supermarket) are SO BADLY MANAGED, it is absolutely ridiculous, like Fawlty Towers. Half the time the staff are hanging around chatting in groups while customers are made to wait 20 minutes in long queues, the other half the time the staff are actually standing around chatting causing an obstruction to customers. It's like the NHS of food - abysmal hiring policy, they seem to hire only the most incapable of society AND THEN DON'T MANAGE THEM. Awful, awful, awful.

The girls behind the till are absolutely useless, honestly I'm all for employing our younger generation but when you ask for a sausage roll for your son and receive a sausage butty it's a real face-palm moment. I mean, come on! The sausage rolls are on the bloody menu! We were charged £7 for that, until the Lovely Older Lady realised what the dim witted ones had done and came to give us our change. They also couldn't grasp the concept of putting bacon and egg on a barm. Here's how the conversation went.. "Hiya, could I get a bacon and egg sandwich and a cup of tea please?" "So that's one bacon on toast with extra egg?" "No it's on a muffin/barm please." "OK, anything else?" "Just the cup of tea please" "OK. Would you like white or brown toast?" "Neither, it's on a barm." "So you don't want any toast, just the bacon and egg?" By this point I'm just looking at her. The day was saved by the Lovely Older Lady yet again, who finally brought my sandwich (for the length of time it took I think they were waiting for the eggs to be laid), yet low and behold, the egg arrived on the side of the plate, NEXT to the bacon sandwich. Deary me. I can't even be mad because it was directly out of a faulty towers sketch. A word to the wise Booths, let your Lovely Older Lady conduct the interviews for your future staff, she'll make sure there's at least one active brain cell.

I went in for a bite to eat on my lunch to order a Jacket potato with Pawns to be advised they didn't serve prawns in the winter months, so ok, I'll have a tuna melt panini then instead! After I plucked one from the fridge and handed it to the staff member to warm up, I sat down to tuck in but although it had a whiff of tuna about it, I couldn't actually taste much. All I could taste was warm buttery bread and realised why when I opened it up. I couldn't see any cheese at all but worse still, there was barely a visible scraping of tuna on one side of the panini. I wish I'd taken a photo it was a joke!. When I returned it to the staff, I think they were well used to this type of complaint as the lady said they were brought in pre-wrapped and they'd had someone return another earlier with no mushrooms in theirs where there should have been! They replaced it with another, but this was not much of an improvement on the first! I ate the bread because I was running out of time, hungry and didn't want to appear difficult. The staff were OK, if not a bit understaffed themselves and pushed for time, but I won't be buying any pre-packed items again at this branch. I know things are tight at the moment and everything has risen in price, but wherever Booths are getting their pre-packed food from, they are ensuring that their customers are getting ripped off! I've just read another very similar review from Marie17979 about the same food item! Although it would appear she might have had some tuna in hers! Sort it out before you lose all your customers!

Ordered the big breakfast , the food came very quickly however, the eggs must have been cooked 20 minutes ago and kept warm , rubber and solid , I asked for fresh eggs , they took my plate and returned it 3 minutes later with equally rubber eggs, they changed the toast which had not touched but left the half eaten sausage which obviously had stood under another heat lamp No care and how a chef can put their name to that and be proud I don’t know This a picture of the grilled tomato half :/

Visited today. Had run out of the fish goujon sandwich even though it was only 12 noon on Monday. Opted for a tuna cheese melt instead but there was no cheese on it so not sure what made it a "melt". Would have chosen a ham and cheese toastie but they had run out of those also. Side salad was just lettuce and tomatoes - no dressing. All very boring and tasteless. Had a piece of cake which was just okay as it was a bit dry. All very disappointing.

I visited Booths Café today with my dad while we were waiting for the results of his investigations. We'd been a few weeks ago, and had a fairly decent meal (eventually, once they'd given us the right meals), so we decided to give it another go. All I can say is that it's a good job we had plenty of time to kill. People were queuing for what seemed like forever to order food, which then took an eternity to arrive. I saw several customers sitting waiting for their food when their companion had already been served some time earlier. The whole set up seemed a bit disorganised and in need of an extra pair of hands.

However, on the last visit this week we found a very poor choice of two kinds of sandwiches, both made from gluten free bread which tasted awful. Visited Booths after hospital visit at about 2.30pm. Service was excruciatingly slow, even after the usual lunchtime rush. The cafe was dirty, with tables needing a wipe and the floor full of dropped food. The soup spoons that were in the cutlery area were dirty and we had to request clean ones. Very disappointing, since Booths has always been a favourite of ours and it has definitely changed. We then did some shopping and that was also extremely slow and most of the self checkouts were not functioning. Finally, the staff seem unhappy and unhelpful.

Booths Cafe at Longton. There’s no sign of this place getting any better after the refurb. When we called on Tuesday to have an early evening meal we were told that hot meals aren’t served after three pm. There was nothing on any of the signage to indicate this, nor was it on the menu. Called again today, why do we bother, for a quick lunch/snack long wait for our food and why was my wife’s toasted sandwich served in its plastic bag. Twice now when we have enquired about shortcomings we’ve been told “nothing to do with me”. Im afraid the benefit of the doubt no longer applies. Is there a manager or a training schedule??

When we arrived there was no record of my booking, therefore no table reserved. The staff were at a loss as to know what to do. All I wanted to do was walk away, but my grandchildren had been looking forward to it, so we managed to find a table for 2 instead of a table adequate for 3 as we should have had. Afternoon tea did eventually arrive and this was fine. Wake up Booths management your cafe is not well run. The cafe was clean - the tea was good and the young lady who served us was very polite and professional. However the toasted teacakes were awful. The teacakes were toasted (Perhaps not he best description) in a machine that carried out the operation so fast it just quickly "browned" the outer surfaces - the inside was not toasted at all . By the time we sat down (less than 30 secs) they were cold. This coupled with the fact that the pats of butter were straight out of the fridge and rock hard made it impossible to spread without completely destroying the virtually untoasted (on the inside) teacake without demolishing it and because the teacakes were cold and the butter solid - no chance of it melting into the teakake.

My jacket was £4.50 which i thought was expensive just for a potato with a bit of tuna mayo inside, and my pot of tea was £1.95, which wasn’t too bad although it was a cheap teabag you could tell with the taste. I wouldn’t recommend eating here unless you don’t mind paying a lot because the main meals was more expensive than the jackets, but i would recommend just getting a tea or coffee there. I also thought it was a bit under staffed as dirty tables was left with cups and plates still on the whole duration we was there.

By the time I got to the front of the queue, I was informed I couldn’t have breakfast because it was now 11:33 and they switch all breakfast making facilities off at 11:30. (Funny that you can buy sausages in a main meal though for twice the price !!) When I asked for the manager and advised I had been queueing for almost twenty minutes, she informed me I was lying. I left my tray and I won’t ever be returning and I was a regular customer, even though the waiting times have always been a bone of contention.

Everytime I have called into this Cafe there are queues a 'mile long' and it takes an incredible amount of time to make even a simple cup of tea!!! Yes the food is of a high standard if you have a spare few hours to spare. Not the usual high standard of a Booths Cafe.

Nice cafe , clean , plenty of seating , staff friendly, menu looks comprehensive, I asked for skinny latte but no skimmed milk, server said sorry no skimmed milk , I said don’t worry , but they are part of a supermarket I would expect them to be a little better organised, overall good , coffee hot and a nice cuppa .

I had not come across a Booths shop or cafe before. Love the local feel, it's like a northern Waitrose/John Lewis.

Poor service run by kids who just talked to each other instead of conversing with customers. No afternoon tea available at 4pm. But we were told how busy they had been. How can you run out of produce when your attached to one of your own stores. Customer service atrocious, won’t be back anytime soon

Whenever we are near a Booths we take advantage of the free coffee. Usually with a cake or often lunch. Toast, toasted tea cake, almond croissant and cakes very reasonably priced and delicious. The lunch offer with sandwich or salad/ crisps and bottled drink great value. The take out coffee queue is usually busy but well worth waiting for. Add to this a hot roll or sandwich from the deli counter makes a great picnic.

Good and handy location, part of the Booths store and close to other shops, plenty of free car parking, modern style and plenty of tables, reasonable ambience and nice lighting, adequate menu choice, no rush to get you out, sometimes free newspapers to browse, internet available, without doubt good value with one free hot drink if you show your Booths Card.

Visited for a quick meal with my young son before a hospital appointment, I ordered the burger and chips and got a kids meal for my son. The food took around twenty minutes to arrive and the burger was dry and the chips, cold. However, the woman that served me and the free hot drink were a bonus, would visit again but and be getting the same meal

Although the food is good, the service is terrible. You always get the feeling that the staff don't know what they are doing. Why is there never enough cutlery, do the staff not check the boxes? Also there were no small teapots!

As we live quite close to Booths we visit often and love the atmosphere of the store and quality of the food. The cafe on the other hand is a different experience. We visited today at 9.15 for a quick breakfast sandwich before our hospital appointment. It took 25 minutes to arrive and the bacon sandwich was most disappointing. Very fatty undercooked bacon on dry doorstep bread. Far too much bread, at least one inch thick slices. We have tried this cafe on numerous occasions now and have been disappointed each time. Never any cutlery, rolls of kitchen roll instead of napkins, very very slow service even when not particularly busy, dirty tables and half the staff indifferent. Such a lot of wasted potential.

Visited here after a hospital visit and had my mum in a wheelchair. It was hard to manoeuvre round the tables and chairs to get to an empty table, especially with some people having trollies in the passageways. It was 11:45 so they had not started the dinner menu I chose to have the bacon buttie and asked for the bacon to be really crispy - it was served okay but not really crispy as I would have liked. Mum had the soup and I had asked for a white roll - I was given a brown one but could not tell until I had ripped it open for her. The lad cleaning tables was pleasant and came to clean our table but the ladies behind the counter were really offhand and I felt as though it was wrong to ask for a soup and a bacon roll (which were on different menus). There is so much potential here and Booths seems to be missing a trick somehow because the food could be so much better and more interesting.

I've visited a number of Booths cafe in the past and have always enjoyed the food and coffee. This however was a different story! The cafe was very quiet which can be expected on a Sunday afternoon but the quality of the service would've suggested they were rammed! To begin with they didn't have majority of hot meals advertised.. there were hardly any sandwiches and when I asked for some orange juice I was abruptly told 'you can only have what is out'... with it being attached to the supermarket I would've thought they could've easily found some. The staff quite frankly were more interested in talking between themselves than serving us and I stood there for around 10 minutes before I was finally served. I've always known Booths staff to be helpful and friendly but they couldn't even crack half a smile. When the food finally came after a long wait it was bland and unappetising... this cafe needs some work to bring it up to standard with the others and the staff obviously need more training!

Went to booths cafe with a friend today for a bite to eat, ordered a chicken and cheese sandwich. The sandwich took a ridiculous amount of time to come, and tasted very cheap. I wouldn't mind, but when you pay £8 for a sandwich you expect it to be at least better than average. We also went up again to buy a drink, and had to wait for ages to be served , even though the cafe was nearly empty and they had plenty of staff ! Would not recommend !!

Over inflated prices especially on the hot food counter, but what is really disappointing is the cafe, had a burger that was absent of its filling and a meagre side, really angrily disappointed, trying so hard to be the new M+S, do not like booths at all.

Having never tried a Booths cafe for breakfast I thought I'd give it a go. My partner and I alternate between Booths and Waitrose, and being impressed with the Waitrose I thought Booths would be of a similar standard. How wrong I was. I felt I was stepping into a cafe where time just slowed down, tired looking, too warm and not a good start. No breakfast menu to be seen. I went for a bacon sandwich rather than the full English. It was ok, appeared to be microwaved bacon ... passable. The coffee was ok. But overall impression is of a tired lacklustre cafe. Come on Booths! You're a great northern shop... market your food with Woodalls bacon, Booths sausage and local eggs! Love shopping at Booths, but the cafe is a no go area for me. Sad, very sad!

Popped in Saturday lunchtime when passing. It was not busy. I opted for a cold sandwich which was pastrami with crisps and my other half had a sausage sandwich. The sandwich was okay, bread was nice and fresh and the crisps were tyrers- good quality. You could tell The sausages were good quality, they tasted very meaty. We shared a large pot of tea. With the discount my partner received for having a booths card it came to just over £7 which is good value for money. My only gripe is that after we have paid I realised that my sandwich and crisps were included in the meal deal and I could've had a free cold drink. The person who served us at the till should've pointed this out but failed to do so.

Stopped off for lunch, sandwiches are delicious, good value for money with the meal deal. Cafe has lots of choice and good value for money given the quality. However very dirty with no staff appearing to clear any of the many dirty tables, the staff working on the floor weren't taking dirty items back with them. A lot of customers having to sit at tables that have not been cleared. Would potentially put off returning customers

Called in here with my sister after her hospital appointment. We had jacket potatoes with salmon and creme Fresche, with nice fresh salad with a lovely dressing - £5.95. The service could be faster but the staff are nice. Huge amount of filling and good size jacket. We both have Booths cards so we can take advantage of the free drinks with my latte larger than the normal. The fish and chips I saw being delivered to surrounding tables also looked good too at £7.50 ish.

Cafe supervisor very rude when under a bit of pressure, granted the cafe was very busy but still she (Gemma I think) did not deal with another customers complaint about soup very well, the soup was so thick the ladies spoon was stood up in it. Another member of the team tried to deal with it for the customer at her table even though she was clearly on her lunch, when she made the supervisor aware her abrupt response was 'what do you want me to do I am on the till'! Perhaps she should have asked one of the other members of the team (3 hanging about) to take over so she could deal with it...? Instead the customer brought the soup to the till which forced her to deal with the situation in front of customers waiting to be served... Very poor!!

We come here every week on a Tuesday due to nearby appointment. We always enjoy the food which is the only reason we keep coming back, though every week we question ourselves! The reason being is the shockingly appalling staff and service. It is a very busy cafe and they do seem to have plenty of staff, but the staff employed just cannot cope and they are all clearly stressed as they have zero customer services or communication skills and are never happy to help!I felt compelled to write this review after our worst experience so far this week.Firstly despite there being many empty tables NONE of them were cleared and when we finally did begin to clear a table ourselves a staff member came to the over and without saying a word half heartedly and very ineffectively wiped the table.Next, after queuing for 25 minutes to be served (and in the meantime witnessing many a complaint or calamity) we were told, as we are every bloody week that they have run out of loose leaf tea- by midday?!!- and despite having a shop full of the stuff next door they for some reason are not able to fulfil our request, I suggest they remove it from the menu! We then ordered 3 meals only to be told they had run out of two of the vital ingredients- this had also happened on many of our regular visits much to our disappointment and annoyance. Another complaint each time we visit is that there is never any cutlery clean meaning we have to wait. After returning weekly because of the good quality and tasty food, we have finally had enough and will be taking our custom elsewhere from now on.

I've been here a couple of times recently and have been very pleasantly surprised. The staff are lovely and took good care to ensure the order was right. The chicken salad was super- fresh and tasty! If they had coca cola rather then Pepsi it would be even better 😉

I work here as the Chef. Amazing food choices which are delivered daily and kept fresh for service. With a small team as BOH, working at all hours of the day to prepare and cook your delicious food. The best part about being a chef is dinner time and I can cook my own food. Also with a discount!

Visited on a Saturday night with a large group of family. Staff are welcoming, friendly and helpful. Menu is extensive with lots of choices for all dietary requirements. 3 of us had the vegan mushroom and ale pie and it was absolutely delicious. I would definitely recommend and would go back and order it again. Fantastic! Compliments to the chef!

Not a fan of bottomless brunches in general, only went for my daughter’s birthday. The food was so horrid it was actually amusing, I thought it was our complimentary starting platter , not a main meal to share with 6 of us 😂 chips, spring rolls and small pieces of chicken that looked and tasted like icelands’ finest. If you’re going for the food don’t bother 😂 The drinks, atmosphere and service top notch though, the bingo is good fun, time flew by. You get your monies worth with the drinks alone, glasses were never empty. Up the food quality and portions and this place will do well.
