The Sherwood in Preston

Tried the Sherwood for the first time & unfortunately it will be the last Some of the food portions were really small for the price, ordered a boneless southern fried chicken starter which was £5.99, I was shocked when it came out to see 3 tiny southern fried chicken nuggets, had to order a second portion which worked out at £11.98 for what was 6 tiny chicken nuggets, cheesy chips portion was also the smallest I have seen anywhere The flatbreads & mixed grill we ordered were value for money Bar service was slow & people who came up to the bar after me were being served before me I had relatives visiting from Wales on the visit which made it even more disappointing

This has always been a good pub but recently it has raised it's game. We like to nip in for a game of pool, the standard is high. Food is amazing, and the various outdoor areas offer amazing sun traps. Well worth a visit.

Never park in the parking lot!!!! I work nearby and had my lunch on 9 May. And today 24 May I received the parking charge notice letter and require me to pay the fines as I parked there for less than 65 minutes. I found there was another customer who had the same situation that received the letter 8 days after the issued date and only got about a week to pay for the £60 charge. It’s totally unfair. Also there was no workers and any sign telling me I have to register my car plate number. It was my first time to be there. How can the restaurant suppose everyone knows the rule. So disappointed! Never come back again

Only 4 for atmosphere because it was quiet. But good food

I parked my car in a Euro car park at the Sherwood Pub in Fulwood on Sunday 13/04/2025. I arrived slightly early for breakfast as the pub opened at 10:00 am on a Sunday. When I got into the establishment I asked how I should pay for parking my car in the pub. I was told to enter my reg in the screen on the counter and I would not be charged. I did this but 16 days letter I get a letter through from Euro Car Parks with a £100 fine issued, £60 if paid within 14 days, the letter actually arrived 29/04 and was allegedly issued on the 21/04 so somehow it has taken 8 days to go through the Royal Mail postal system. The window for paying the reduced fine is not actually 14 days as shown in the letter, but 5 days given the exorbitant amount of time it took the letter to arrive at my home address. Obviously these sharks are going to make it as difficult as possible to appeal the parking fine so I will pull my pants down and accept the £60 punishment which makes my decidedly average breakfast and orange juice more expensive than what you would expect to pay at the Dorchester in Mayfair. My advice to anyone thinking of going to the Sherwood is to stay away unless you like to dine in the Ryan Air of pubs with poor quality product and hidden charges at every corner.

Food exquisite lovley staff didn't have to wait very long for the food plenty to choose from on the menu and the prices was so cheap real value for money the toilets was immaculate everything about it was fantastic

Absolutely banging food, not bad 2 meals for £11.50 the gammon was perfect and the fish & chips were cracking! Considering the price it was well worth it!

Greeted with a smile from Kim and Manuella! Food ordered with ease and it arrived promptly, fresh and hot. As always, good value for money.

Steak was stringy fat lined stringed awful no matter how it was cooked. The only thing that was nice was beef dripping gravy and chips. Scampi was sludge and onion were soggy. Poor form from years ago used to love the place. Nevermind onto the next.

Booked a table at short notice, good pub food, pool table available, great friendly staff, would recommend for familirs or couples.

Had so much fun meeting Santa at the pub. The staff were very friendly and attentive and couldn’t do enough for us.

We took my mother in law for lunch to The Sherwood to celebrate her 101 Birthday! We all enjoyed our meals and were looked after very well by the staff.

Really good morning at the breakfast with Santa. Great fun and laughs with the Angel and Elves. Crafts, games, a lovely breakfast and visit from the big man himself with a little selection box pressie. Well done guys my granddaughter loved it 😊🤶🏼🎄

We came today for breakfast with Santa. Absolutely well worth the money. Breakfast, games, meeting Santa and a present - £10 per child. Kim goes above and beyond to make it a fantastic experience. Would defo recommend.

We were here for Lunch. Four adults who all picked the same lunch. Tandoori chicken Sizzler. Good choice of Cask Ales and Lagers. Friendly staff. When our sizzlers arrived we were all taken back. Two skewers of tandoori chicken on a bed of onions, peppers and broccoli stems. Lovely bowl of rice or fries. Lovely tasty chicken ( plenty) and nice rice. Lovely lunch in pleasant surroundings. Friendly, helpful staff.

We took the kids to the Sherwoods halloween party & it was absolutely brilliant. The decorations were great , it was very well organised with fun games , sweets, competitions & prizes. Kim was.the main organiser & she as always put 110% into everything to try & ensure everyone had a great time. Kim literally didn't stop for a minute and everyone said how brilliant it was . Me & my friend also ordered halloumi flatbread with fries & it was delicious. Can't wait for breakfast with santa now at the weekend:)

I work here as the Chef. Amazing food choices which are delivered daily and kept fresh for service. With a small team as BOH, working at all hours of the day to prepare and cook your delicious food. The best part about being a chef is dinner time and I can cook my own food. Also with a discount!

Inexpensive pub grub, quite noisy with football fans watching the many TV's, food slow to arrive, 40 minutes for mains and 25 minutes for desserts. Will try again to see if it was a one off and any better next time.

Avoid the chicken pie at all costs. Midrowaved and soggy. Disgustingly inedible.

Fish and chips were reasonably priced and quite tasty although the batter was a little thin.

Food was good except one piece of chicken was undercooked. Not something that happens all the time though. Very friendly staff and good atmosphere.

Only the second time I've been to this pub even though I've been parking my truck near by for years. Why? Because i didnt know it was here. Ordered the bbq beef ribs tonight and it was absolutely lush, Cracking atmosphere and they even show the footie. I will most definitely be back.

The Sherwood has been my local pub for the last 20 years I have lived in the area. Over the years it has been very hit and miss and this has been my first visit back in about a year. I just want to say wow and what a difference. Despite being full there was no extra waiting times and the service was excellent. The meal was the best I've had at the Sherwood, we left full happy and eager to return. I'm not sure if it's under new management but they have definitely taken huge steps in the right direction. Cheers to you and your team. I wanted to add to my original review today as the Sherwood is now dog friendly (bar area). After a good walk me my wife and little dog buddy decided to stop of for some tea. Food was excellent and the service was great. Thanks to Kim for helping us with our order and making us feel welcome. We look forward to returning soon.

Called in today for some lunch with my husband. This is our go to place for good quality, reasonably priced tasty food. There is always plenty of choice on the menu always in stock. Good portions and fantastic food quality for "pub grub" To us though. The Sherwood is much more than pub grub. We see families, couples, friends, colleagues and lots of different generations in here. It is equipped for everyone and the atmosphere is second to none. Never had a bad meal in 8 years and we visit most weeks for food and drinks. Staff are friendly and the place is clean. All in all 10 out of 10! Highly recommended 👌🏽 EDIT.. Been in tonight, great atmosphere, fab and friendly staff and a brilliant night!

We went with my inlaws on a Saturday at 12-30 hrs., the pub was reasonably salubrious, but was not very busy. The bar staff were also serving the meals so ordering at the bar was a little slow, even with the pub not having many customers in. There were four of us and we had main courses only, sizzling chicken (judged to be very good), fish and chips (portion of fish was large, was very good), our wives both ordered surf and turf (the steak was considered very tough by the ladies). Service overall was good and we would go again but, we would not order steak again. Prices are very good.

The food was lovely, and the pub itself is lovely. However I hate to do this, but iv put the service down to a 2 star. The bar staff was lovely, however I man handing out the food had such bad hygiene. We were handed our plates along with a really bad odour smell. I’m not sure if it’s the owner etc, however something should be mentioned as we ended up leaving our food as it put us right off. I felt I couldn’t speak to him direct as I didn’t want to put anyone in a position of embarrassment. Wasn’t easy writing this review as i really don’t want to offend anyone. But food and hygiene should be vital in a restaurant.

Called in today for dinner. Ordered steak and chips. The steak was inedible out of 16⁰z of steak only around 3 were edible. Extremely disappointed

I've been going to the Sizzling pubs for a while now and honestly, I've never had a bad experience or meal at any of them. We visited the Sherwood today in Fulwood for a small birthday get together and it was absolutely faultless! Mandy, who was a fantastic edition to the pub and great manager, made sure we felt welcome and catered for my brothers nut allergy very professionally. For the main meals, my mum and brother got the Tandoori Chicken on Skewers and roasted vegetables and chips (this is usually my go to, it's so good), clean plates all around! Both my mum and brother commented how succulent the chicken was. Today I went for the 8oz Sirloin steak with added curly fries, onion rings and beef dripping gravy, what a meal! The steak was cooked perfectly (medium-rare) and the whole thing just ignited the best flavours in my mouth. Not only was the food and service amazing, you can't knock the sizzling app where I collected my 6th stamp and got a free Gordon's G&T. Mandy even said she would swap the tonic for lemonade as I don't do tonic. What a star! Sizzling pubs has got to be the chain in the uk and the reward system and quality food and friendly staff keep you coming back.

The Sherwood is excellent but all attempts to register with sizzling pubs are met with we have a problem with you try again later.

Four of us went to the Sherwood for lunch today. We were served by Kim who was very attentive and pleasant. The meals came quick and were well cooked. Well done team !

Not been for a while but called in for a change was ok. Food ok drinks a little bit dearer than where we usually drink but ok. Plenty of parking be careful if you park on car park on left of pub you have to put your reg in screen on bar or you could be fined.

The food was so so, the service was alright but I must say for midday on a Friday, there was a young lady in there with her children that had to ask multiple times for the people to stop swearing, I get it's a pub but some of the things they were talking loudly about was not nice in front of young children

Lacked a few real ales, understand they have to cater to the people

Our family came for a birthday lunch which i was a bit nervous about as my we can be a picky bunch. But the food was fantastic and the staff were great. The lady who i think was the manager went above and beyond and it was nice to see someone take pride in their work. Thanyou

Beautiful place to eat and mix grill was amazing

The food was amazing. The staff were lovely. There's a Teddy claw machine to keep you busy. And a pool table. Drinks aren't expensive there's a wide range including cocktails. We got the greek burger and the lay it on chick both were amazing I opted to get my fries loaded which was a good shout as they were so tasty. There's free parking you need to sign in on arrival. The toilets were really clean which is a big thing for me. It's child friendly and big so we could sit privately. Great place to go.

Visited 2 July 24….had the pie and chips….The pie was very bland and was obviously a warmed up frozen pie as well as the chips….it filled a hole but won’t be back if it’s this bad again 1/10

Went to the Sherwood with my children. The service was very quick with a smile. Very accommodating when I wasn’t sure what to order. The food came out nice and hot and was very tasty. Overall a good experience as always.

The food was amazing and I complement the chef . I ate sirloin steak that was beautifully cooked. The service was first class and very enjoyable . Enjoyed the happy staff and clients wonderful lunch and finished my lunch with amazing chocolate Sunday. On a Monday . Will definitely be back for more great experience and fun .
