Goodies Fish Bar in Eastleigh

I've used Goodies for a number of years now. Decided to get myself pie and chips. The pie was dreadful, just liquid and hardly any meat. Will not be recommending them in the future.

Very unpleasant lady serving. Chips were not cooked properly and looked like a greasy pile, stuck together. Won’t go again.

Goodies Fish Bar in Chandler's Ford cooks all meals fresh to order. Whilst the cost has gone up in recent months the quality at Goodies has been maintained. I fully recommend them. Nice cheerful staff.

Unfriendly staff except for the 2 young men if you are lucky enough to see them . Awful blond lady who appears to be chewing a wasp. Fish small over cooked and chips are probably reheated and reheated...looked like old toe nails. Not worth the money as I threw most of it away. Will not be returning

All these bad reviews, I'm surprised. A portion of chips couple quid and there was loads. Really nice and I mean really nice. Definitely go again when I'm there along with the ale house 2 doors down.

I’ve usually had a great service here but today was not a good experience. I ordered two cods, large chips, large battered sausage and a curry sauce. Took my order home and found the following. No battered sausage so my son was very disappointed. And one cod was awesome. Great size and crispy batter. The second cod was half the size and the batter was moist and falling off. Been trying to phone them but just getting annoying music and nothing else

It is just not up to standard , chips just not cooked enough , fish was OK but the batter was not crispy , 6.30PM you thought it would be busy but I was the only person in shop . Def gone downhill over the years

Slow and grumpy service - wouldn't go back.

All bag and no chips ! Shocking service and shocking portion for the cost. The picture is a £2.60 portion ..... spot it in the bag !! Lol Query it with the youngster serving me who looked in the bag then looked at me, mumbled "Yep", then turned away.

Chips very anaemic and under cooked if I wanted mash I would of cooked it myself very disappointed

Expensive, small portion of chips (ordered a medium and it’s the tiniest handful) most of the chips were like mash potato. Incredibly disappointing.

Third time and absolutely disgusting cobwebs top of Windows not just a few but loads staff miserable most of the time fish always been cooked and left to dry out,last night the scruffy bloke was walking around mumbling and picking his nose disgusting (10/06/2023. Will not be going there again

This fish and chip shop is either good or really bad, last night it was really bad I ordered two large cod one large chips and a large sausage. £20.20 The fish was heavily bartered one very dark in colour which straight away as I unwrap them that it was overcooked, when I peeled back the batter the fish was completely dried up , the sausage was good and so was the chips. I have now decided it’s so hit and miss I will not be going back. Surly the fryer could see what I saw and should not have served it. Unfortunately I did not see what was served otherwise I would have said something.

They had run out of haddock, my.preferred choice so accepted cod. Fish was ok chips terrible not freshly cooked and not even warm let alone hot. Used to be great but not any more sadly

Another food establishment that needs a food/ hygiene review. Food warmer caked in fat. Windows and ceiling covered in cobwebs. Time for a deep clean! Food tasted okay.

Bloody awful under cooked sausage inedible, chips were soggy and mushrooms nuked to death. Think they need some new staff who can cook, Seriously gone downhill this place use to be awesome.

Extremely disappointed customer!!! Goodies used to be the best place for fish&chips in the local area. However, yesterday 22/12/2023. We purchased 2 fish and chips for £17.70. The food was dreadful, overcooked not fresh! As if it had been cooked hours ago… shrivelled fish and a mass of chips blobbed together. Not at all appealing. We feel Goodies live on their past reputation that has long since gone!

Will no longer be visiting Goodies, after being a customer for as long as it has been here. Comfortably the WORST customer service I have ever experienced. Ordering went smoothly enough, and I was given an order number and estimated waiting time. After having my order number called, and order confirmed I returned home to find part of the order missing. I decided to call the shop hoping for what seemed should be a simple solution, I was instead immediately met with an incredibly rude member of staff who turned it into a confrontation with the person adamant it was me that had made a mistake and picked up the wrong order. Instead of simply accepting there may have been an error on their end, they continued to insist the blame sat solely with me because what they deemed to be the order was still there. They did offer to allow me to return the incorrect order to them in exchange for the correct one, but at the point of finding the problem I had already served my son. In the end I was so sick of being continually accused and spoken to like I was a total idiot, I wanted to stay as far away from the place as possible. We cut our loses, took the hit on the missing item and tried to enjoy the food we did have whilst sitting in disbelief trying to compute the exchange that just occurred. A simply ridiculous exchange to what was a very simple problem with an even simpler resolution. Which didn’t need to go any further than acceptance there was an error, and that the missing item will be waiting if I wanted to come and get it. Never returning here and would advise against anyone else visiting. Just in case you are ever unfortunate enough to face the wrath of these amateurs.

The meal was fine but was saddened to witness the blonde fish fryer tell an elderly gent she was not going to put in a piece a haddock for him until it had gone through the cashier! I thought his request was reasonable and very much what people do who are in the queue not wanting to wait too long and old.

Very poor quality greasy chips awfull and I've never had a battered cod with the skin left on.wont be going back...

Not the best chippy I've been to.

Bought 2 portions of cod (?) and chips here for the princely sum of 18.60 pounds and they were the worst I have ever had. The chips seamed like they were yesterday’s leftovers and were barely edible and the fish was was more batter than fish. Should have taken them back but time didn’t allow.

Had great fish and chips last week, well below par today fish batter not cooked through, chips I think must have been end of a batch. On the bright side service was excellent so hopefully for better food next time.

Where do I start, customer service wasn’t there, weren’t interested in even serving, £3.70 for a large chips which isn’t the worst but for the portion we were given is a disgrace, between 5 people there wasn’t even enough to touch a toddlers stomach lining, the fish was only describable as gandhis flip flop, under the heaters since lunch time by the taste of it, thank you to this chip shop we are now extremely hungry and out of pocket

Absolutely disgusted i asked for medium chips got a childs portion, fish looks like its left from lunchtime service and tastes like it.

Came here for the first time to get my great grandparents some lunch. My husband was asking simple questions about their portions and food because every chip shop is different. The woman was very rude and had a terrible attuide problem with us. Safe to say that will be the first and last time we go to this fish and chip shop. To even believe they were recommended as well, absolutely shocking customer service. I wouldn't even give it a 1 star but I had to so I post this review.

Everyone enjoyed the food we ordered

We love the food here, service is what you expect at a chippy, and they've never missed the mark on food quality when we've been. The battered sausages here put other places to shame. We've been countless times and only once have the chips been not-perfect. Far better record than any other chippy we've frequented, and we will generally go out of our way to come here before the other ones.

This fish and chip shop has gone way downhill! Have not been there for a while but was looking forward to what used to be excellent fish and chips, only to be served very dry stale seeming chips, uncooked batter on my pineapple fritter and soggy batter on the fish. This was all served by seemingly uncaring staff. Won’t be going here again .

Not only did they not have most of the menu available but they got our order completely wrong. We didn't get items we paid for and had to ask the girl for a receipt 3 times. This place used to be out regular but has seriously gone downhill and we won't be going back.

I have always rated Goodies Fish and Chips and I would have given them 5 star if it was purely on taste. However, this is probably the third time our order was not all there. Missing items are the wrong items have been wrapped up. I will still have my Friday Night treat from there however I will always make sure you check the order before leaving if you can.

The blond haired woman working behind the manner is incredibly rude with an equally unpleasant face. She lacks basic manners and serves stale fish and chips. What a pity that the owner is oblivious to this woman’s behaviour, which quite frankly is unacceptable. Staff like that should be kept well away from the public and reserved to emptying bins and cleaning the toilets. I wouldn’t recommend this shop to anyone.

Currently a stood outside at 8.30pm and they are closed... But says they close at 9pm both on their website and on their window?

Haven't had fish & chips for a while and and I certainly can say my cod & chips were excellent 😍 Would definitely go here again. 😊

Usual local (chunkies in knightwood) was closed temporarily so next nearest was goodies. ‘Large ’chips hardly feeds one person let alone any more. Chips were nearly cold and all the small tatty pieces. I recommend anyone else goes to chunkies in knightwood next to Tesco. Much better portions and piping hot.

Sorry, but we have to rate this one fairly low on our "Good Chippie" guide... First time we tried this shop, and the service was quite quick (the shop was quiet anyway), we waited outside due to Covid restrictions and the food was brought outside to us already wrapped up. That part of it was OK, but upon getting it home we found that they had got the order partly wrong (ordered a plain sausage and got a battered one...) but surprisingly they had no choice of sizes of the cod, it was very overpriced and it still had the skin on which was a bit offputting. Also, amazingly they had no pies of any kind available. The chips and pea fritters were OK though. The bottom line is, there are many great chippies we have visited that simply leave this one standing. (Sorry, Goodies!)

First and last visit to goodies, very disappointed, fish cakes were lovely, large chips were old and dry this was 12.30 lunch time, even the dogs refused to eat the few we put down for them can nobody make decent chips anymore, seems no matter what time you go in they have spent too long under those heat lamps drying out.

Just popped into Googies. Served by a grumpy young man, didn't talk, just functionally served us. Paid £3.40 for a large portion of chips. Well, if that's their large, I'd hate to see their small portion. Total rip off. Will not be going there again!

This is the third time we have been disappointed with the fish and chips from Goodies. My husband was first in the shop this evening. But the fish portion was small, tasteless and clearly not fresh. The chips were all little ends - not a proper sized chip among them. Used to our be good a year ago. But we will not be going again.

This was my first time here and it was the worst experience I've ever had. The young girl behind the till was RUDE. DO NOT GO HERE- unless you want to be served rudely and spend a lot of money for a small, poor quality fish and chips which were half cooked. The blone young girl behind the till did not even offer me sauces and slammed my change down on the till. I will never go back here and I hope others see the truth of this place as well. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY.

Chips were really good, the place was clean, staff were friendly and you can pay by card with no minimum spend which is ideal.

Goodies is the sort of place you only use when the alternatives are closed. Bland chips, poor menu, slow service, disorganised. Incredible that this company has been going for so long.

So tonight sat in the car and sent my 15 year old to order two portions of chips two curry sauce and a large jumbo sausage, I sat and watched three other people go in after him get service and leave before him , so put the car and ask the stroppy staff why he’s still waiting What’s your problem , was the reply!! Really ? Was then told if you don’t like it have your money back Discussed with the attitude After waiting 29 minutes Terrible terrible terrible

Bought 2 haddock and a large chip to share (photo shows 1 fish and just under half of the chips - I had already tucked into the fish before taking the photo ) - really excellent! Batter was crispy and not too oily, fish was tender and very tasty!!! Definitely would recommend!There was only a small queue on this visit, while the fish did take longer to cook it was well worth the wait - as they say good food takes time to cook

Had skinless haddock. Exceedingly cooked and presented. However, took the "fryer" ages. Seemed more interested in washing up trays than serving customers.

Family favourite fish and chips

I have been using this fish and chip shop for years. The last 2 times I have been unable to order by phone, then go there wait ages outside in the freezing cold. The quality of the food has gone down. They are so disorganized. On a Friday Igor they should have fish and chips ready to go! I had to wait 30 mins last night. I won’t be going there again!

Very good Covid Measures, order inside, pay, wait outside for collection, table provided outside with hand sanitiser. Went between 5 and 6 pm yesterday, it was "happy hour", meaning all meals were half price, as a consequence this was excellent value. The fish, battered sausages and chips were all very good indeed. From outside I could see the staff frying and packaging in a most efficient manner. I dont understand some of the very low ratings, we have never had anything other than an excellent meal from Goddies, my wife would be first to complain if it wasnt right.

Fish 🐠 and pies are nice, chips 🍟 are average, portation size is OK. Waiting time is not the quickest 🐢, food is hot and well packed. Friendly staff

There are fish and chips - and then there are Goodies fish and chips. We've tried them all, but now we come back here every time. Consistently good, in fact the best fish and chips I've had in the area. You might get bigger portions elsewhere and you might find it cheaper in other shops, but you won't find this quality - not good for the weightwatchers diet but as an occasional treat - fantastic.

Got large chips for £3 and 2 large sausages. The large chips was like 1 handful, was so small couldn't even feed 2 people. The sausages were so hard and crispy. Terrible....

1st time coming here as just moved to Chandlers Ford.Service was awful. Partner ordered fish & chips. I ordered chicken burger, pie and chips. Never again!Chicken burger was literally bap (no butter), burger (cheap no frills) and slither of mayo, no salad priced at £3.50 seemed over priced for what I received.Pie was lovely Now when it came to dishing up the fish and chips my hands were dripping in oil and I mean dripping. Didn’t look appealing or appetising at all. Couldn’t taste the potato in the chips all you could taste was oil same goes for the fish. Might as well of been a plate of oil.Bitterly disappointed and to make it worse next morning we both ended up with food poisoning Won’t be using this company ever again!

We usually go to Chip stop or Chunkys, however we gave this place a try. We ordered a large chips. Was shocked at the portion size. It was probably smaller than Chunkys regular chips. Not acceptable for the money and the quality was poor. Cold and over cooked. The staff were also not interested, not sure if I even got a hello inbetween there conversation. Won't be returning based on this.

Very friendly and helpful. Especially as he helped out for Gluten Free.

Chips were average but it was a quiet Saturday lunchtime so probably weren't cooked fresh. Saveloy redeemed it for me, and the curry sauce is good. The shop front and interior is definitely it's best feature - a nice blast from the past

I will start off by saying that if I knew my daughter was going to go to Goodies I would have told her not to.She offered to bring tea home anni asked her to get 2 bits of cod and a large chips. For £12.80 I got 2 bits of cod and the smallest amount of chips that would only just be one portion.If you want value for money then do not visit here. Next time my daughter offers I will be more descriptive on where I want her NOT to go.

Delicious fish and chips, best in the area!

Avoid the chips they are awful!!! Always soggy and every bite is like you are eating grease!! Not good went straight in the bin!!

Good sized portion of cod and chips for the money, the lovely aroma wafts up the road when the shop is open. Definitely the best fish and chips in the area.

Service is terrible, the blonde lady who works there should be trained on customer service, she is rude and uninviting with no charm or class. Avoid.

Good for an unplanned meal but I would go further a field to get better service
