The Wagon Works in Eastleigh

Wetherspoons Visited #119 A reasonably large sized Wetherspoons, just opposite of Eastleigh Train Station. So handy for a beer (and food) if passing through on the train. The pub is adorned with images and info relating to the Eastleigh Railway works, hence the name of the pub. Ordered the 3oz Classic Burger and a pint of Stonehenge Old Smokey beer. Total was £6.97. Beer arrived within five minutes of ordering and was in very good condition (as seen in image). Food within the 10 minutes time frame that Wetherspoons aim for. No issues with temperature and quality, when it arrived. Only rated food three stars because I'm not terribly impressed by the 3oz offering. Pre Covid, you could once get a 6oz burger (and drink) for roughly the same price! Pub is worth visiting if in the area.

Best place to eat and drink in Eastleigh. Probably above average for a spoons.

Visited on a weekday at lunchtime. Really quiet but very quick service. Food was piping hot and to be honest, for the price paid, it was very good.

Normal Spoons a few local beers usually served with sparkler and are usually fairly good.Spoons do get a bad rap but this is one of the better ones. Plus a real non fake fire. March 2024 Pop in at least once a twice a month staff very gold much better than in the city

Dropped into the Wagon Works. Ordered a brunch and a pint. Friendly staff, food arrived quickly and was lovely. What more can I say, this place never fails to deliver. Reading the Weatherspoons special edition newsletter which reveals all the lies generated by the media, then demonstrates them eating humble pie by printing retraction. Even some MOs have conjured up lies about Weatherspoons. Disgraceful of them.

Thank you to your door staff who helped my son yesterday when he found himself stuck in Eastleigh with no phone charge and no way of getting home. It was late and dark. He had hopped on the bus as arranged around 7pm, fell asleep, went all the way into Southampton and then all the way back to Eastleigh. The second driver woke him up. He asked at 3 pubs and a shop but no one would help by calling me, until he spoke to a member of your door staff who called us. We really, really appreciate it. Please pass on our thanks.

The price of the beer is virtually ⅓ of what it is elsewhere. The service is friendly and quick. What is not to like? Dreadfully let down though by the need to refurb the toilets and the upholstery.

Decent for a Wethersooons, actually looks and feels like a pub with a soul. Nice ales on, handy for the station.

Burgers are now terrible waffer thin, so easily burnt like a biscuit. Good selection of beer. No pizza available at this spoons. Seats really dirty and sticky probably the worse I've seen in spoons.

This is a pretty standard Wetherspoon but could use some TLC. Old furniture and banged up toilets. We went there shortly after pre-game match fans had left and it was pretty messy/sticky everywhere.

You get what you pay for, it's a spoons. Great place for pre drinks and food before a pub crawl.

The Wagon Works Eastleigh JD Wetherspoon is a beautiful pub, with friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere. This will forever be my go-to place whenever I want to chill, whether I’m drinking or not this is a great place to go too, the staff make you feel safe and welcome.

Great Wetherspoons pub right opposite the train station 🚉 ideally positioned but strangely not offering an upstairs bar. Large garden for spring and summer but that's only half of our miserable yearly weather. Staff very friendly and work exceptionally hard to keep the bar and seating tidy. Lovely pub.

App service for food really quick, but drinks through the app really slow often come after food. Much better selection of ales these days, just a shame that they are putting the beer through a sparkler and killing the flavour of the beer.

Opens 8am, very good for breakfast. lunch time meals and refillable coffee. Serves food all day until late Bar opens at 9am until late. Popular pub opposite railway station, near to buses and taxis. Friendly staff, very good service. Still as good as ever.

Considering the location this spoons is actually alright. Found a table on a busy Friday night. Had main and pudding, ordered via the app. Waitress even asked how the meals were mid way through. I'll be back 😀

Fast service for both food and drinks despite it being busy. Mixed grill was excellent quality and well plated up. A great local vibe inside. Looking forward to my next visit when back in Eastleigh.

It's a weatherspoons. Food is reasonable, drinks are cheap. It's not going to blow your socks off but it's fairly reliable as to what you get.

Normal spoons as you'd imagine, same Normal acceptable food, atmosphere is brilliant especially in the beer garden. People talking and having a laugh, and the bonus is the toilets are downstairs 👌

When I got to the table I had to clean it myself because the staff can’t seem to do their job. When ordering my breakfast the blonde haired lady was just rude and made me feel uncomfortable, clearly needs to be in a different job where she doesn’t have to deal with customer service as she clearly hates people. The food was nothing special.

A bit down at heel spoons, booth seating stained, tables had food plates on and carpet very worn. App worked well with food and drinks served quickly. Staff friendly. Needs a refurbishment to raise its rating from me.

Good wetherspoons cheap food and drink but still reasonable quality

Well I was staying next door for work. so it was convenient. On the second night there was an argument between what I assume was a regular and a family. In the end to avoid confrontation the family moved off of a 6 seat table so this bloke could sit there with his pint all night. The family then had to wait for a table as it was busy. Staff knew what was happening but did not try to difuse the situation. I found somewhere else to eat after that second night as I did not feel comfortable going back in. Even though it did not affect me directly. Certainly wouldn't take the family in.

Great place, good food, the breakfast was delicious. The only thing to mention is the tidiness as this was the dirtiest Wetherspoon we been into yet. Small detail but can do a big difference, especially as we checked 4 tables until we find one that was acceptable. 😑

It's a typical Wetherspoons which I visited on on a busy Saturday evening, finding a seat inside as the rear yard was busy with steady drinkers. Service was a little slow, but not too bad considering how busy the pub was. My first choice (the vegan "Beyond burger") was out of stock, which they didn't tell me until I had been waiting for 15 minutes. But the replacement bean burger was OK. As always the side salad was not good value, but the overall cost of the meal (burger, chips, salad and 500ml bottle of Ghost Ship for under a tenner was still good). If you park after 6pm, the local public car park next to Sainsbury's is free. I had breakfast here a few months ago (staying at the adjacent Travelodge) and again, it represents very good value.

Small pub with a great atmosphere and friendly staff. The food arrived promptly and it was decent for the price. Would return.

When did we just accept that because its a weatherspoons its going to be useless and poor quaility, and we just are ok with this, i love at this one, that they found the time to cook the bacon to a crisp, the 2 eggs i had were both cooked and uncooked on different sides, the sausage was cooked like a small rock. They do however have an abundance of ugly staff,.

Problem accessing the pub as disabled access door bell not working so had to bang on the door and customer let us in No house red wine and staff would nt let me have a glass of other red wine although my meal came with an alcoholic drink so forced to have white wine which I don’t like Food was cold had to send back husbands jacket potato and my burger was only lukewarm Worse meal at a Weatherspoons ever and this used to be such a nice pub when we were here a couple of years ago Very disappointed would nt go back

sat in booth but had to move as not clean read menu carefully not like me .ordered stake and chips for me and wife and thats what we got .no onion rings peas tomato as on picture again read menu carefully this was a little meal for my wifes birthday not again at the wagon cost£8.87 each

We are fans of Wetherspoons but sadly we will never return to The Wagon Works , the place would benefit from a deep clean , your feet stick to the dated carpets and the chairs are stained and even our table was sticky , the steak & Kidney pudding had to be sent back because it was cold and my friend chicken curry was just warm , I know its cheap but there is no excuse for cold food , I hope the chef in aware that uncooked food can make a person ill .

Awful visit today, sat in a booth and proceeded to shuffle across and put my hand in sick all over the booth seat (which had been hidden underneath a menu!) Had to rush upstairs to the toilets to wash off and disinfect.. asked for a free drink for the inconvenience but was sadly declined.. moved seats and ordered food. Food came and was very underwhelmed with it i had the 6oz American cheeseburger which arrived with approx 11 chips. Poor portion size but tasted okay. Friends burger was cold although mine was piping hot. Please work on this I was expecting the full 1640 calories on my plate

What a lovely place to pass some time either in town or passing through. Ideally located for transport links. Train,taxi and Southampton airport. Lovely staff especially Jackie Bilsby.

Absolutely no atmosphere, rude and disrespectful staff and a manager that has got a clue what they are doing.

Used to love this place but what's gone so wrong We came here for our daughter's 19th birthday breakfast as is a thing we do on birthdays 9 of us 4 breakfasts came 20 minutes plus another 4 arrived Then the 9th breakfast apparently wasn't ordered which it was so payed a second time for it Yet still another long wait Needless to say we won't be back

Disappointing. Wine served in glass straight from glass washer, bad foam marks, yet still offered as is, then changed. Wood tables look decrepit & dirty. 3 friends meals. 2 steaks were ok yet both portions of chips were BARELY WARM. 3rd steak was asked as rare, yet very well cooked (edible though), jacket potato was reasonable. Overall, a KITCHEN FAILURE. Lots of staff on site, pleasant enough, yet a vibe of being too casual with everything, lack of professional attitude. Trainees or just an attitude issue ? Positives, garden area was ok. We paid the whole bill, denting their profits would further worsen the service for others. Shocked at the unexpected issues, which are inexcusable. Management got to step up !!

Possibly one of the best burgers I've had, nice chips, pint of beer, £7sometning.Exvellent value. Didn't have to wait long for the food to arrive. Although it was mid afternoon.

Decent breakfast after a morning of go karting, prompt service, staff friendly and helpful. Ordered on the app and was easy and decent.

We waited 45 minutes for food to come. I ordered a jacket potato with cheese and beans - food was not hot so I had to ask for it to be reheated. Hardly any cheese or beans on the potato. Service was poor too. Very disappointing.

Drank in this pub many time and have to say at the moment they are like a well oiled machine the managers are fun and engaging and the other member like to chat and have a laugh ! All round its a very nice pub...

Unfortunately minus points aren’t allowed, pity, this dirty dive deserves it. Ceiling lights covered with cobwebs and dust, over tables people are eating from, yuck! Dirty tables, not cleared or cleaned, filthy floor (a soiled napkin a egg under our table) before 11am, revolting! No...

Called in to the Wagon Works this morning for breakfast and coffee before catching my train. Coffee and food were excellent, staff were friendly with prompt service. The facilities were spotlessly clean. Excellent value and experience all round.

Lovely friendly staff, spotlessly clean and a fantastic historical building in beautiful condition (like most Wetherspoons). Breakfast is top-notch with superb ingredients, plus great coffee (came top in a blind test by national newspaper) and free refills......what more could you want!!

Dirty dark dive! Two of the staff extremely abrupt about the covid rules probably My worst experience in a Wetherspoons and that take some toping. As a visiting guest was made to feel very unwelcome. Terrible total s**t hole

This 1 Star has nothing to do with the staff or management at The Wagon Works. Their level of service and quality is impeccable. This 1 Star review is for the Board, for Tim Martin, for whoever was stupid enough to have the idea that 40,000 staff and colleagues would receive no pay throughout this Covid-19 crisis. You’re putting people at risk, you’re destroying their homes, robbing them of hope, and creating a whole new list of problems. Sort it out Mr Martin or whoever is actually in charge! I can only hope you have to read through a lot more of these, I really hope you do the right thing before you have to read too many!

Convenient but not too great. The bacon was hard and most of the breakfast was cold. The area looked a bit run down and needed a overhaul. On the plus side it was fast getting to our table and free refills of hot drinks

We have regularly eaten here and been pleased with the standard of the meals, unfortunately today we were given inedible meals.when we pointed this out to a staff member we were informed that they would let the kitchen know! This is not acceptable as one person had a meal that could not be eaten, a pie that was solid and could not cut through, mash potato again over microwaved and solid and the staff member was clearly not interested. I had eggs ham and chips the eggs were were so burnt that they were inedible. No apology it was just money wasted

The beer was excellent, the service pleasant, premises as far as one can tell, were clean. But the two meals of my choice, lamb shank, fish and chips were not available. In despair I ordered steak and kidney pudding. The top, now at the bottom, was rock hard and the knife bounced off. Scraped the rest off and ate that altho the mash wasn't a patch on the Groups usual being tepid and watery. Pity.

We came on a Friday and found the place packed with people. Had a number of ales for a very competitive price. Coffee comes with free refills. Service at the bar was quick and friendly.

Called in weekend whilst we was in the area. Like all other weatherspoons this one was good. The sunday breakfast was nice and served quickly. The staff were friendly and helpful. Would return in the future.

We came here a group of 6 we had 6 pitchers and 6 shots and the bar cut us off. Kev the manager was very rude and said because we wear a slightly loud group which we had been since we walked in. We know regulars who happened to be there at the same time who where louder than us and they still were aloud drinks. Apparently because we got here at 7pm we started early they cut us off. We had 3 people join us later on and they were not aloud a drink because they came to are table so the bar wouldn’t serve them. When questioned Kevin was very rude and did not act in a professional way. If we walked in another pub they would let us drink straight away. Other staff members said we could have drinks but because he was manager they had to listen to him. Will not be coming back because of the rude manager who doesn’t know what drunk people look like as no one was drunk considering some had to drive home.

Arrived at 7pm had a few drinks with 6 other people. Only had a few drinks and then the duty manager Kevin refused service to our whole table as we were all drunk apparently. For a start I was driving so only had 2 drinks the girls were apparently being very loud and the other 2 guys arrived later and only had a few pints. Then 2 more people arrived later and got 1 drink then also got refused service. As a personal license holder myself I think that is absolutely terrible management to cut off the whole table, as absolutely no one was drunk. There were other people being more loud and definitely had more to drink and they still got served. I think you should sack Kevin as he has no management or people skills what so ever and was extremely rude to our whole group.

Excellent value for money. A few of the tables needed clearing sooner this would make it easier to assertain which ones were available. We soon found a booth and took advantage of the order to table phone app. Our food and drink came in a timely manner, was still hot and of decent portion size. We did not have to go to the bar at all. The staff seemed nice enough. The only bad this from this visit was that the hotdog has been removed from the menu - a personal favourite of mine.

We took the family for breakfast here, sadly not very good served nearly cold. Only scrambled egg but served nearly cold. We have been coming here for many breakfasts, this is the worst one. Not sure we will be back.

I love spoons so much I’m having my wedding here I lost my virginity in the disabled toilet while chugging doubles and eating their 3 for 10 starters. I’m naming my first child either tad Steele or spoons because I love this place. A man by the name of blackie chan lives here underground. Only bad thing is that NUTTER has left to be a parole officer.

My family and me went here for breakfast on a Saturday morning. It was busy in there but service was quick and our food came out pretty quick. We all enjoyed our food and it set us up for the day.

We had a really great breakfast experience at such a cheap price. Food was cooked really well, good service and would definitely recommend.

We came here on Monday night after visiting the Vue cinema. Like many other past reviewers we have sometimes found the service appalling, but this time it was okay. The food was good, typical weatherspoons grub/drinks, and service was excellent. It does seem with this pub it can be hit and miss, probably depending on what staff happen to be on duty. It is a shame as the atmosphere here is great. We have used weatherspoons pubs a lot over the years, and have always found them to be very good.

I ordered a standard breakfast which had 2 rashers of bacon, 2 hash browns, a sausage, a fried egg, baked beans and a slice of toast which only cost £3.70. The service was very quick and the food was absolutely delicious! I will definitely be returning!

I went in with my parents for a meal, when I went to order the lady didn’t know how to use the till kept asking for help , I ordered a small all day brunch and when it came it was the vegetarian version which I didn’t ask for so it went back , when the man brought me the correct order he slammed it down on the table and said is this what your hoping for very rudely

As a seasoned & regular user of the wetherspoon chain.Its always a desperate last resort to use the Eastleighs Wagon Works site.Can,t fault the always good & constant level of drinks & food on offer.But the service always seems to be desperately slow & unenthusiastic.They have a short section of bar at front of pub where the bar staff seem to congregate.So if that,s even slightly busy.You will have little chance of getting served at the long bar section for a good while.Its quicker to catch a bus & go down to the Giddy Bridge in Soton.

We have been to this venue many times,mainly for their steak night. There is no better value anywhere. The rest of the menu has been partaken of, and the same result was forthcoming. The meal plus a glass of wine can not be beaten. It can get rather crowded at certain times and a little difficult to find a seat but still worth the hassle.The meals come out to you in a very short time from ordering,I do not know how they do it. Keep up the great work,we will be back.

I and my colleagues regularly go here for pre-9am work meetings. It's brilliant for this. No fuss, speedy service, and a great price. The breakfast is WAY better than somewhere like ASDA's cafe.

This is possibly the worst Wetherspoons pub we have visited. Wetherspoons are renowned for choice of real ales, when we are away which is quite often we always head for a Wetherspoons as we know that we get a good selection of ales and good food, bad luck if you visit here. Not for the first time, there was only Ruddles and Abbott which are a permanent feature, and at Wagon Works also Doom Bar. Not knocking those, for those that want them, but today out of 10 hand pumps 2 x Ruddles, 2 x Abbott, 2 x Doombar, 3 empty and 1 x left over christmas beer, Not good enough, I waited at least 15 minutes to be served, in conversation with the bar lady I asked about the lack of decent ales on this site and she gave me a menu of ales that might be coming, on the list were very good ales which we had been drinking in other spoons for the last month but none here. Tables sticky and not cleared but food was ok.

Appalling service, staff seemed more interested in cleaning glasses than serving customers, customers stood looking at each other open mouthed at complete lack of service and level of respect, when I complained I was told I was being rude and then bar person walked off, I had to then enquire to the Manager what was the situation and he told me he could not serve me as bar person had arbitrarily decided I was being awkward, rest assured I will be taking this issue forward, I have never know such blatant disrespect and somebody will ultimately be held to account

We had not visited The Wagon Works for several years after a bad expereince reported on Trip Advisor.

Really poor service , this place needs a complete overhaul , year ago it was good ,turnover of staff every 12 weeks doesn't help.

Called in yesterday (11 October) looking forward to tasting a beer or two from the beer festival advertised as starting on Wednesday 10 October. Guess how many beers were on - none! There were three from Piddle brewery, not festival beers and not very interesting. Badly done Wagon Works, some pumps had nothing at all, which Tim Martin does not like! The customers don't either.
