Toby Carvery in Eastleigh

Came here when the carvery we normally go to was booked up, very much will not come here again. It was freezing cold in there we had to actually keep our coats on, they gave us a toddlers meal when we very much did not order one and didn’t have any toddlers with us, the vegetables were rock hard, the food was cold and substandard and overall, it was just a terrible experience. I wouldn’t recommend this place in a million years!

The fooood was. Completely cold some of it was 1/2 cooked I would never recommend this toby carvery to anyone else my view very poor food and service I have send a complaint off and they haven't even acknowledged it

Booked a festive menu, not offered starters, main meal was just an everyday meal and cold! Asked for Christmas pudding, told they didn't have any!! I was told I should have rung and ordered it! Ordering a festive menu did not guarantee getting it, total waste of time and spoilt our pre christmas get together

Came here on Monday 23rd December. On arrival at reception no one to meet and greet. The place was empty. Then we were eventually shown to our table. Went to get dinner and on observation of food noticed everything looked awful. There were parsnips that looked like they hd been there for days. All dried up, so called roast potatoes that didn’t even look like they’d been roasted. Stuffing that was so hard you couldn’t even spoon it out. Yorkshire puddings so thin like paper that crumbled with grease when you cut them. And last of all stone cold gravy. I did ask for more hot gravy but this didn’t make a difference to the already cold dinner on plate. Can honestly say will never return again here. It certainly has gone down hill. Years ago this used to be a fantastic place to go to for a roast. But not anymore 😏

We have just returned from our Christmas Day dinner at the Bishopstoke Toby, there were four of us and we universally agreed it was a superb experience. From the delicious, (and generous), starter, to the amazing carvery and then a totally scrummy dessert it was all so good and not overpriced in any way, real value for money.. The staff were delightful, helpful and joyously full of the Christmas spirit. We love this Toby anyway and are so glad to have chosen to have our Christmas Day meal there. Thanks to all concerned and very well done. We’ll be back!

A very poor breakfast, I can’t believe how much this place has changed in a year. Rock hard bacon, sausages just cooked, hash browns stuck to tray, beans all dried out, yorkshire pudding not out and eggs that were just thrown in the tray not looming very appetising. Small plates only. Breakfast for 3 with a few juices just over 30quid, many local cafes will give much better quality and service.

Our roast was cold and the sprouts were rock hard the gravy was like dish water. Waited 10 minuets for someone to come and serve carvery meat as staff was too busy talking. Only the girl who served us was loverly so praise to only her steph.

Fantastic service from Ruby. Made us laugh, joined in with our crazy family conversations and done everything she could to help us. Thank you. Food was lovelyyyy and we all enjoyed ourselves just before Christmas 🎄🎄🎄 Merry Christmas!

A great pity lessons have not been learnt from previous reviews.! Food was cold then microwaved when we complained, service slow and luke warm. Meat portions very small even though the restaurant was practically deserted and only 3 days before Christmas, would have expected a much larger clientele.! Broken mirror frame and broken toilet seats in the ladies loo and the decor so bad my little granddaughter could have done a better job.! We have used dozens of Toby Carveries up and down the country over the last thirty years and this must be the worst Toby Carvery we have ever had the misfortune to eat in. £120 NOT WELL SPENT.!!! Will not be back.

Went for a Sunday carvery. Waitress was very helpful and pleasant. But now to the not cheap carvery. Can have 3 meat, but each portion is very small. Pigs in blankets are extra. The roast potatoes will get 4 stars, and they were nice and crispy for a change. On the veg front, only a choice of 4 including sprouts & red cabbage. Had better for less. Bit disappointing. Was very busy with long queues for food. £4.50 for a glass of coke which you have to also get yourself.

To be honest not over impressed! Four of us had the carvery. Lots of selections of meat including lamb (our favourite) which did shock us a bit lol. Other meats looked great. Having done our selection and sat down the only thing that was hot was the gravy! Plate was cold as well. Did mention it to our waitress and was told they are sorting it! Won't be returning in a hurry!

Arrived for our annual Christmas dinner and was left very disappointed by the lack of customer service the quality of the food and overall experience So we arrived for our booking and were shown to our table. the young girl who served us very polite but unfortunately the lack of communication from the team such as no checking back on us to see if everything was ok clearing our plates before everyone had finished made us feel rushed The food was definitely not of great quality the veg was cold the so called famous Yorkshire pudding flat and soft plates not warm despite it being a really quiet evening The toilets were very untidy. Toilet tissue all over the floors in both cubicles very unhygienic I would have made a point of saying something to the staff but there was no one available half the time let alone a manager on the floor. Will definitely not be returning And will definitely not be recommending you to anyone looking for a good place to eat.

Went today for a festive menu meal, this was booked over a month ago, was not offered a starter, lunch looked and tasted nice but Luke warm! Nothing festive about it apart from decorations, staff looked miserable, nothing festive on the tables and to top it off no christmas pudding told I should have pre ordered it! I assumed booking a Festive Meal would if meant that's what i got bit nope! Very disappointed, I was given a discount bit didn't make up for s spoilt pre christmas meal with family, will not return

Couldn't believe the price was amazing here in Chichester you can pay over £25 a head that's not included drinking 😉 so yes would recommend staff great astonishing

Unfortunately nothing was GREAT. Food was poor and very unsatisfactory. To be fair the chef gave half a smile and that should of given us a clue the the meat and vegetables were not going to be good

Food is always excellent. The place is tired and needs a good clean. The condiment area needed replacements and a good wipe down. Service was friendly , but extremely slow once we'd eaten our meal. Unfortunately, they'd run out of all VE custard & ice cream. Which meant a dry dessert. Definitely need to order a lot more in the future. Young chap behind the bar was very knowledgeable and personable. He was my man of the night.

Cold food. Complaint dealt with poorly

Festival Menu: This was an awful experience for our Xmas party. The food was cold despite asking for this to be warmed up. It was taken away but returned no better. Many of us were unable to eat our meal. We were disappointed, as this for most of us was our first visit and possibly the last. We spoke to the manager Andrew Pound who was very rude wagging his finger as he spoke stating we had arrived late for our sitting giving this as a reason for the food being cold, (bearing in mind this was a carvery). Even if this was the case, if the food was on hot plates it would have been at a desirable temperature making it edible to eat. We found that instead of his listening to our isssues objectively he became defensive remarking that we would have to leave. He stated that a he found members in the party to be rude which was untrue. We had booked for the festive menu no one had approached us about putting our order in or explained we could have a choice which would have included the carvery and a desert. We were told afterwards whilst speaking to the Andrew Pound (the manager) about our concerns regarding the food temperature with him remarking there were too many of us to take the orders. The manager was unhelpful and requires training in interpersonal skills and customer service. ( seemingly not in the fest. ive mood). Another gentleman intervened called Ben, what a contrast, he was pleasant, listened and assisted our party with our concerns. The chefs who were serving overheard the conversation and changed over the vegetables so they were hot. The waitresses were also helpful and did their best.

Great staff, Steve is the name to remember. Steve is very generous with the meat portions. The place is clean, friendly and relaxing when you are without the kids of course. The place is large and kid friendly so expect a family to rock up at anytime. Reviewed this place before but it's prompt me to do it again so here it is lol. Not a bad place at all.

I went for breakfast in the morning and it was lovely the staff where kind and the food was very nice so I went back for dinner the same day when we got there we waited at the bar for quite a while to get seated while there was multiple staff members that just walked past us one of the staff members then sat us after waiting and said she would be back with some cutlery she left us waiting for 25 minutes which when she never came back I went to ask another member of staff if they could serve us which they then did quickly. The carvery itself was very nice just a shame the service lacked that

It’s been quite a while since I have been here and was not impressed. Two roast dinners and the food was lukewarm, peas dried out & shrivelled, sprouts too hard. The place needs a refurbishment, toilets not great and bench seating worn out.

Traveling through so I stopped by. We were sat down and ate at the carvery. Food was mediocre but there was nothing i would usually complain about. However, not one server stopped by to take out drinks order. It wasn't as if it was so busy that they were overwhelmed. They just didn't give a damn.

Toby carvery used to be absolutely lovely decided to get it delivered as I fancied a roast for dinner. I got an adults carvery and a child’s carvery the beef had no flavour the pork was chewy the turkey was okay, the gammon was the only good thing, the gravy just tasted of powder the peas were like pellets and the mash was gloopy the roast potatoes were not bad nor was the Yorkshire pudding definitely won’t be ordering again. Definitely not worth £25 getting it delivered with Uber. I also waited an hour and a half.

Absolutely amazing staff, the best allergy awareness of any food establishment I have ever been in, very thorough and non judgemental of my way of eating, which was refreshing. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal out for a relatives birthday, the music wasn't too loud, so we could actually hear each other talk. Plenty of parking, proper large, wheelchair friendly, disabled bays are actually large enough for wheelchair accessible vehicles. The ramp to the side of the steps is a bit of bump up and down, but doable. All the staff were very friendly, helpful and professional, the wheelchair lift was great, in working condition, which isn't always the case on a lot of places. The accessible toilet was actually accessible, large enough for a large electric wheelchair, and not used as a storage area. The food was impressive, the meat was well cooked, pigs in blankets were tasty, and the cream was delicious, The rest of our party enjoyed their carvery meals, vegetables and large Yorkshire puddings, as well as a honeycomb Sunday, which they loved. I would recommend the Toby Carvery in Bishopstoke, the accessibility is great, food is great and staff were absolutely fantastic. November update: Went in today for my birthday, it was as great as it was last time, we were sat on the lower floor, next to the wheelchair lift which was perfect as we could see the trees through the windows opposite our table, the service was a little slow today, but the food was fantastic, the staff were all lovely, with a lot of patience seeing as I forgot to put my hearing aids in and have had no voice for the last 2 weeks and my husband had to keep translating everything. Would still highly recommend, have no complaints, although a better queuing system than the roped barrier would be good, it had to keep being moved for my wheelchair, which was ok, until there were other people in the queue with us, altogether though a really enjoyable birthday meal with my husband, we would definitely go back, especially as they are so hot on allergies and have great wheelchair accessibility.

waited almost 2 hours and when it arrived it was cold !!! not the drivers fault, would of been cold before he picked it up, NOT HAPPY so will not be ordering from toby carvery again

Sadly very disappointed this visit. Been many times in the past but but didn't enjoy this meal. Had to sit in the bar area , due we think to staff shortages, and the food certainly wasn't up to standard.

Although we didn’t stay, Victoria was lovely and allowed us to use the toilet when we had been stuck in a ridiculous amount of traffic. She even offered us a lovely coffee to take away with us on our journey. Just couldn’t believe how welcoming every member of staff was including the manager. It was so lovely to see so much help for those who get affected by the traffic.

The food was amazing the staff were clearly busy it was very busy but they still stayed friendly ") Unfortunately when my girlfriend asked for some beef she was given a small portion and it was mostly fat from the end of the meat, had good flavour though. Other than that small bit it was actually very good ive never had carvery before

This was my first time at this restaurant and I was very surprised. The food was excellent and the service was amazing. Nothing to say. For me it was a great surprise. All the staff were very friendly. But Diana was the one who was the most captivating, and always with a smile on her face for all the customers. I don't usually eat dessert but my husband advised me to try the dessert. And I fell in love with the dessert we had. Chocolate fudge cake with ice cream. 100%💯😋👌😍

ordered 2 meals with stuffing, unfortunately neither arrived with istuffing and also one roast potato was black and inedible.

Bit of a wait while the chef was missing. Yorkshire Puddings were flat. The waitress made us feel like she wanted to push out the door. The waiter was lovely, friendly and happy. The toilets were terrible. Lacking toilet roll. There was a sign up for cleaning bit no sign of cleaning. One door missing a lock.

Despite not many customers being there and there being several staff the service was awful. Our drinks order was taken fairly promptly and off my grandson and I went to the carvery. We were the only ones in the queue but a carver had to be called. Once we had filled our plates we saw that both apple sauce and redcurrant sauce bowls were empty. The carver had gone, no one was around. I saw three staff in the bar playing with a carver in a chef's hat. Eventually one respond to my call. After 5 minutes still no apple sauce. A carver appeared and I asked for his help. He brought out apple sauce. We returned to our table to find the drinks had not arrived. They did so half way through our meal. They were both bottles with caps off plus glasses. What took so long? Once we finished our food and drink we considered a desert. Nobody seemed interested in coming to our table to clear away or take an order so we got up and went to pay. There was a staff member on the till and next to her another staff member leaning against the wall. As we drove home I explained to my grandson, who is doing business studies, that the Toby carvery had missed out on business that night and as we drove past another carvery on the way home, likely our next visit!

We are regulars and were recognised by some staff. Our server, Victoria, was particularly welcoming and helpful with us OAPs. Luke was efficient on the carvery. (Minor) Some of the veg was near to running out, others were a bit cold by the time I got back to our table. Still, great value, great staff and great atmosphere.

Lovely meal today, great service and a big smile from Steph. It makes a big difference to your experience. Well done Steph we will be back.

In the past I have enjoyed attending the Carvery for lunch and breakfast, this is my first time for evening meal. The environment I did not enjoy as much as during the day. The staff were even so, welcoming and relaxed they served us well.

Que to get to the front desk took nearly 30 minutes alone! Waiter was dead slow, took us 2.5hours to have a 1 course carvery with drinks. Had to chase for the bill, took an age to take a drink order. Cauliflower cheese was rock hard, not cheesy and pretty cold. Rest of the food was just ok, for a company supposedly home of the Sunday roast, it was a very disappointing experience. Toilets were filthy, need leaks fixing and need to be tidied up.

Don’t order unless you want to wait hours on end! I placed an order at 5pm and didn’t receive any food until after 19:10. Then the food was stone cold.

Had to wait to long for more food to be replenish Yorkshire pud never got one. 😑

I would like to say how helpful Victoria was when we visited recently! I am a wheelchair user and nothing was too much trouble for her to help make sure I was able to access my table and get to the carvery as easily as possible. It was also obvious that she was just as friendly and attentive to the rest of her customers. Thank you very much Victoria 💐

I ordered a take away for 11.30am I’m still stood waiting for it and it’s 11.50 I’ve told them I’m in a rush . Nobody seems to care? It’s the first time using this take away service for my elderly parents. It will be the last…

Came in for a roast, the food was decent not as much meat as I’d of hoped for for the cost but it’s was tasty and Steph was very nice and good so overall not a bad spot.
