The best restaurants serving British food in South East

Food absolutely disgusting.. wouldn’t feed half of it to a dog.. 7 of us visited for lunch after attending a business meeting in Stokenchurch.. Drinks were fine, we sat in the garden on basic pub bench table with no parasols which was needed on a hot day.. there was a wire hanging around (see pic) which could be dangerous if children touched it, should really be taped off or removed considering the garden is geared towards children. Food took around half an hour to arrive after ordering.. we were informed 15 minutes after ordering there were no paninis so could only have a sandwich.. surely we should have been advised of this sooner so we could maybe choose something different as we were pushed for time.. Anyway.. onto the food! OMG, my colleagues tuna sandwich was inedible (see pic) bread was thin white sliced value bread that was soaking wet with tuna juice.. my other colleague had Hunters Chicken and the cheese on the top was so burnt she couldn’t cut through it.. chicken was rubbery and tough and inedible.. tuna jacket potato was dry, no butter and mushy tuna.. BLT sandwich was again thin bread that seemed to have been slightly toasted but tasted like it had been left out to become dry! However.. another colleague had a pie and she said that was nice.. so one good meal out of 7… the chef needs sacking or re training as this really lets the place down.. we will never return!

Brilliant!!! Staff are amazing so kind and helpful, Sarah, Jen and Emma are the best!!!! Great atmosphere and lovely environment, decor is lovely too!

Not something i ever do but this place deserves it. Served bad quality bubblegum ice cream for my daughter, asked for a replacement, told nothing wrong with the icecream by a rude manager (even I tasted something funny with it). Manager said she would replace it. Then charged me for it. Dumbfounded, avoid this place like the plague.

Please rethink. We are here during half term. Busy? No. One other table only yet service took too long. The higher prices don’t match the quality of the bland food. Everything we had was dry and chewy.. we did complain and got one meal refunded as it was pork belly with no pork! The kids meals were ok to be fair but the main menu was awful, pizza was bought in and dry, ham crumbled upon touch. The greens with the mains were undercooked and spikey. The menus were laminated plastic like a cafe which doesn’t match the £29 price tag for some meals. No music, weird atmosphere. Breakfast was ok, basic and warm but left a lot to be desired sadly

Was looking forward to having lunch at AH but was turned away with the excuse the hotel was hired out for a conference which may be the case. However when arriving on the grounds and at Reception we were not turned away by various other members of staff or asked if we were part of the conference. It wasn't until we sat outside in the bar area that we were asked to leave. It was obvious that booked spa days and afternoon tea was allowed in. Also no reply to the online chat before arrival asking about availability. We won't return.

Excellent food in a traditional pub. Service was very friendly and competent. My steak and kidney pudding with mash and vegetables was generous and delicious. We also enjoyed the beer.

Went here for a meal on Friday. Ordered our drinks and our food to be told it would be about 20 minutes. 45 minutes later another drink ordered, still waiting and finally one of the staff apologises for the delay and assures it will be no more than 20 minutes. Half an hour later, staff informed us that ‘chef’ is STILL stuck on M25 and there will be a further wait for food as there are a lot of takeaways going out of the kitchen! Why take our order if there’s no Thai chef? Why not inform customers BEFORE they hand over their money and buy 4 drinks in a below average social club? Nice bowling Green, not nice enough to make a return visit!

I thought the lamb rump was excellent. Tender and very tasty. And the friendly and efficient service from the assistant manager Simon was first rate. Will definitely come again.

Returned to this lovely garden centre and was warmly welcomed into the restaurant,it was early lunchtime but there was a good buzz of others enjoying their food.There is a seasonal menu and wanting a fairly light lunch we opted for the mezze platter to share.The service is first class our waitress very friendly,we ordered a beer and glass of red wine to accompany the dish.The drinks and food arrived speedily and it was delicious,colourful,and beautifully presented.Our waitress returned to check everything was ok which of course it was.We had coffee afterwards then left.We were acknowledged by all the staff working there who cheerfully said Goodbye.This is a venue not to be missed,I noticed the lunch menu,they also do breakfast and whilst there at the weekend they were serving a beautiful afternoon tea to a group of ladies…I look forward to a return visit soon…Yours Stuart…

Vine aquí con la familia, reserva de grupo para 10 . Cena a servir a las 8. Fuimos a la sala principal a las 7. 30 y no se nos dio bebida gratuita (como se prometió en la descripción de la comida de Navidad). Preguntó a 2 personas que dijeron que lo investigarían. Finalmente acorralado el gerente que dijo, tomamos bebidas para todos los que estaban en la habitación en ese momento y... ¡Entonces se fue! Absolutamente impactante, repugnante comportamiento de un supuesto gerente. Nunca vendrá aquí de nuevo. No es así como manejas un negocio. Y la comida estaba seca y de mal gusto. No prometas una bebida gratis si no te vas a asegurar de que todos la tomen.

Whats the point they do not answer the phone nor acknowledge a booking their Face Book site is pathetic no wonder their lakeside venue died as well.

Food not brilliant, service hit and miss. A bit expensive. I had hunters chicken wrap, very tasty. Her ham, egg and chips was not so good. Ham looked anaemic but eggs and chips looked ok. Latter coffees were on the weak side. However, cakes were delicious.

Quite disappointed that my lunch had to come from the kiddies menu, you would have thought that in this age there would have been a vegetarian sandwich choice!

Very fresh and tasty food, cod and chips lunchtime special is a great deal. We have been three times now and we’ve had great food every time
