Went here for a meal on Friday. Ordered our drinks and our food to be told it would be about 20 minutes. 45 minutes later another drink ordered, still waiting and finally one of the staff apologises for the delay and assures it will be no more than 20 minutes. Half an hour later, staff informed us that ‘chef’ is STILL stuck on M25 and there will be a further wait for food as there are a lot of takeaways going out of the kitchen! Why take our order if there’s no Thai chef? Why not inform customers BEFORE they hand over their money and buy 4 drinks in a below average social club? Nice bowling Green, not nice enough to make a return visit!

went there with a friend for a karaoke Friday night, limited selection of drinks which were expensive and no food. it was quite busy, but there was no security there was a guy with a blonde girl in the gent's toilet, sniffing a powder off of the sink, they then went into one of the cubicles together, I presume he wasn't showing her his socks. he then reported that he was a policeman for Blackheath station and on his night off. nice. only in Swanley.

What's the point of a karaoke bar, and your not allowed to dance? The olympic wants your money but your not allowed to have fun because of the "rules" the police force reject you have employed to "enforce the rules" is about as rude and aggressive as they come. Place should be shut down and turned into flats.

My family and I love Italian food and this is in the Top 5 in the District. The pizzas are the tastiest ever and you can build your own which is even better. The starters are to die for and you have the added benefit of sitting outside on the veranda and having an ice cold drink in the evening sun. Social distancing is on point and is confirmed by the table placements. Well worth a visit

The Olympic has reopened with an inhouse pizzeria What's Amore. Thought we would give it a try and with two work colleagues we sat on the spacious verandah overlooking the charming bowling green. All very socially distant. Not sure if it was because we were amongst the first customers or it is normal but they brought us a very good and messy bruschetta and a bowl of olives, pearl onions and sundried tomatoes as we waited. Went down well with a draught lager. Then the giant pizzas arrived - far too large for me so they packed half for me to takeaway. I am not a great fan of pizzas as the dough is often poorly cooked and the toppings scarce. See my review of one in Vienna a couple of years back. But these were great - delicious and massive. Highly recommended.

Well considering The Olympic insisted on a deposit ahead of Father's Day lunch you'd have thought they would have enough food! But no, all the meat had run out (choice of only two:beef and ham - no white meat), server looked disinterested and said it wasn't his fault, was trying to serve up scrag ends of meat but we said thx but no thx. Waited for management, none forthcoming, one of the bar staff (charming lady) couldn't apologise enough. Did offer to do some lamb, but we declined and said we wouldn't be staying. So our nice Father's Day carvery we'd hoped for didn't materialise. They returned our deposit and we left and had a lovely dinner (as always) at The Lully up the road. All in all pretty rubbish and Management leaves a lot to be desired.

First let me say that some years ago, as a Councillor, I was chairman of the committee which oversaw The Olympic. This visit was my first for a long time and I took a family party of 6 for the Sunday carvery. Only a few diners and there's the pity because the carvery was very good - decent meats in reasonable portions and a really large selection of freshly cooked veg including a tasty cauliflower cheese pus, of course, Yorkshires, gravy and all of the sauces. It was a change to have roast beef without gristle. You can have the carvery in various forms and prices, with starters, with puddings. I advise just the main dish which was more than enough for any normal portion - nobody went up for seconds. Price very reasonable for this quality. The drinks not overpriced eitther and the service prompt and helpful - with a smile.

I tried this council run restaurant over a year ago and was not overly impressed but was willing to try again recently when a family member wanted to try it out. It is now apparently closed Monday to Thursday evenings so we thought it would be busy on the other days, and particularly on Sunday. However that was not the case. Lots of empty tables, and bored staff. Food was average, no better than a high street cafe lunch. Prices inflated for what is was. No atmosphere.

We chose this using tripadvisor as it was halfway between us and our son. It was a close enough connection to the train station and motorway too. We had prebooked for Sunday lunch but didn't need to. We asked to sit outside to eat, and although this was unusual (most diners stayed indoors) our request was happily sorted. Drinks and food were quick to arrive, staff very pleasant. All food was eaten (cheeseburger, roast pork, roast beef) and plates were empty! Two of us had pudding - we both agreed that the chocolate brownie and ice-cream was probably the best we'd ever had. The toffee/nut sauce sent us to heaven! All in plus 2 rounds of drinks was £48. Thank you for having us.

This review is based on two visits a couple of weeks apart. Bar staff ignored us for far too long a time when we first arrived and on the second occasion we had to go around to the servery to ask them to come out and serve us. Clearly the staff don't want to work there and they just show a complete lack of interest. Food service was slow and food bland in taste. We had to ask for napkins, cutlery and condiments but it was quicker to go and get them ourselves. I thought the problems on the first visit was because the restaurant was fairly busy but same on second visit and there were only two tables in use. Staff prefer to talk among themselves rather that serve customers. These were the first visits in a couple of years and we hoped things had changed but same old problems that the town council need to do something about. We won't be going back.

Since I went there last some changes have been made , even a wall knocked down, but the atmosphere is still depressing and I can't see how this is 'undergoing a refurbishment' - seems almost like some of the reviewers are 'arranged' or are wearing a lovely pair of rose coloured spectacles. This April we have been to this restaurant twice already. Went for a bite of lunch with my wife after having read some good reviews since its recent re-vamp - it is the first time we have been there for a few years, and it will probably be a few more years before we go back. The service was painfully slow (although it was polite and friendly). It was not as if it was busy, it was a Tuesday lunch time and the place was half empty. The decor is about as fresh and inviting as a hospital waiting room, without the warmth.Food was OK - imagine a notch above a Beefeater, but not as good as many pubs. I'm not convinced it was all cooked from fresh - it was the sort of thing that could be made by opening packages and heating up the contents - the chilled centre of one of the roast potatoes made me think that it had not been long out of the freezer. All in all, I can't see the point of the place. You probably won't be hugely disappointed, but I can't imagine many people being everso enthusiastic either.

We visited the Olympic a week before Christmas for our annual get together. We booked our table for 7 people at 8pm.On arrival we was shown to our table without much of a greeting. When we received our drinks order the diet and normal coke were flat. When we told the waitress and asked if they could be changed, she looked at us with disbelief and her response was negative. However she reluctantly changed the drinks to more flat drinks!!! After receiving our food order over an hour later, the food was cold, not even lukewarm! We called over the waitress for the food to be changed, however we was told that the kitchen closed at 9pm. One of ladies agreed to have hers microwaved but the other lady asked if she could order something else but again was told the kitchen was closed. Upon finishing our meal (cold) we sat at the table for over 20 minutes before one of us took the dirty plates to the bar! The waitress then said I would of done that! We was asked while eating our dinner if we would want deserts as the kitchen was closing! I would like to add that we was the only people eating at the Olympic and the bar was not at all busy that night. The service and attitude from the Manager and waitress was very poor. There was no apology and we would not recommend this restaurant to others.

I visited for evening meal without booking and received a warm welcome. Staff are very friendly and food is magnificent, it was great wonderful family evening. The menu has a variety of choice for adults and kids and fantastic value for money. Thank you so much

Really tasty food - from the main menu and the Specials board - good value too. .would definitely eat there again as the food is so good. The decorating and ambiance needs improving to match the skills of the chef to really put this restaurant on the map as a must "go to eatery".

I've visited The Olympic four times in the last month with various friends and family. On each occasion the food was very good and the staff were very friendly and attentive.

We've been to the Olympic a few times and this is my second review of the place. The food was again great and very tasty. I had the lamb hotpot with mash and my husband had cheese and bacon burger with chips. Absolutely lovely. The menu is varied and has something for everyone. Reasonably priced. Two pints beer, two mains and two desserts = £34.

As others have said before, there has been a huge advertising drive for the Olympic, who apparently have all new staff (what was wrong with the other staff) and new menus.Previous front of house staff were very attentive, polite and efficient.Well, the food was terrific, but as for the staff - where were they when we arrived - we stood for a couple of minutes waiting for someone to appear! It was lunchtime and I would hate to think the venue is as dowdy, scruffy and not very clean during the evening time, otherwise no amount of advertising is going to make this place into the place where people will want to be.Yes, would eat there again, because food was superb , but only if we had plenty of time and ideally would perhaps take wipes for the sticky table and bar area, but why should we? Table cloths could make this place look better, but that would mean they would have to continually change them and if they can't even remember to wipe a table over then what hope would there be . This place used to be filled with British Gas workers, we had hoped that had changed, unfortunately, although not as many of them , there were still a few, and one in particular that kept popping in and out , no offence, but it lowers the tone a bit in a scruffy t shirt, if this place is supposedly going up market. There was no atmosphere, a tv was on with music on, but very low so more annoying than anything else. Wouldn't come here for a special occasion and wouldn't recommend it - shame the chef can't work somewhere that would show his cooking off better.

There's been a big advertising drive for the Olympic so we thought we'd give it a go. Me and my husband went at lunchtime Saturday. Barman was very friendly, lots of menu choice and a specials board, the bar / restaurant was nicely set out and was clean. The food itself was tasty but portion sizes for the casserole were on the small side. Waitress was slightly moody but it didnt ruin anything. Will visit again.

We found the food was excellent, and the service was very good. The place was clean and tidy, and as we went early evening it was not to busy and the music was not to loud. The car park is at a good size. We would certainly return there again.

Met with a client here yesterday, and as a convenient place, just off the M25 at J3, its a good place to meet. Free parking, quiet and the drinks are reasonable. The building is a brick built club house with meeting rooms, a bar, dining area and patio. Attatched are a bowling green and a driving range. Its not the most professional of meeting places, but if convienice and cost are a factor, I'd go here again. I'm glad I know about it.

Swanley does not have many restaurants that are not Indian - Fahim's is an excellent one that springs to mind - and I was intigued to sample the fare at the revamped restaurant at the Olympic. Food is now served all day and the menu has been upgraded. A pub menu is still available. As we went on a sunday, the restaurant was busy, and it was neccessary to book - though we missed most of the lunchtime rush.My partner is a vegeterian and settled for the battered cod and chips as the vegeterian options (only two) were limited. I had the rather excellent Mediterranean Lamb, which was done in a tasty stew and really tingled the tastebuds. There were a number of items on the pudding menu and I had the exciting blackberry and apple crumble. This was certainly worth the price of admission and I would certainly recommend it. Some of the desserts are probably seasonal, and I would suggest one or two more "interesting" options be added. The service was friendly and efficient and other patrons seemed to be happy too.Overall my first experience of the "New" Olympic was a very positive one. The menu was very reasonable but like any new venture may need fine-tuning. I look forward to returning in the future.

Recently used this venue for our sons wedding reception.Admittedly we only had a buffet.Quantity and quality of food was terrible. payed for 100 people and there was only really enough to fed 50.Staff was very slow in clearing away plates etc.Did most of the clearing my self..Fruit platter looked very sorry for its self! Will not be recommend the olympic to friends due to the short fall of expensive bad quantity and quality of the buffet.

Nice place for a spot of lunch if sunny. Seating outside on decking by a bowling green and very peaceful even though you are near 2 motorways. Food ok, freshly cooked but just average menu but staff are very helpful and friendly.

I visited The Olympic with my family in January on one of the few sunny days and we had a lovely time. The staff were really welcoming and helpful. We all had the sunday roast. The roast beef was really tender and the best roast potatoes I have had in a long time. if I had any critisism it was a bit quiet. However, having also very recently visited a too busy Harvester with everyone using their discount vouchers and being served horrible food maybe that wasnt really a problem.

We arrived at midday without having booked so reasonably OK with having to wait while those who HAD booked had their food cooked first. Others in the group felt we waited too long. My food (bangers and mash) was great as was the veggie Wellington. Those who ordered jacket potatoes were less impressed (how freshly cooked were they really?) and all 3 sent them back for either a refund or whatever alternative could be produced quickest. Then the potato order was wrong on 1 of the replacements - but put right cheerfully and quickly. Fish and chips and beef and ale pie were apparently 'all right'. Been several times before at other times of year and the food's been better so I think the main problem was losing the competition to those who had pre-booked. And - dare I say it - that old chestnut i.e. not enough kitchen staff??

I have lived within a five minute walk from the Olympic for the past 18 years . It occurred to me we had never ate there and as our cooker was broken and we were awaiting a new one we decided to walk over and try the cuisine. How I wish I hadn't bothered as I was originally going to go to a Toby for my Sunday dinner ! We went for two courses for £11.00 each , I had the Pâté and my partner had the prawn cocktail ... We sat in the bar area as we were told the restaurant was full ? it wasn't, but there wasn't a person under the age of 60 in there. The pâté was two large slices of cheap nasty Bookers Pâté ,there was a handful of badly prepped mixed salad and three tiny crisp breads also a teaspoon of onion chutney. I ate it as I was starving but the quantity of pâté outweighed the rest of the bits on the plate. The prawn cocktail was half a handful of watery prawns in not enough sauce dumped on the same badly prepped salad. There was no roll or bread to go with it . Both starters were served on a sandwich plate, which were dumped down with our cutlery rolled up in serviettes. No condiments were offered or seemed available. We had both ordered the Roast beef ( if you could call it that ?) At first glance it seemed ok , until I realised that the whole dinner had been reheated in a microwave !!! the beef did not taste like beef it was as dry as Gandhi's flip flop on the edges as it had been nuked for too long , which you would of thought the dinner would be hot but it was tepid. There was broccoli cauli, peas and carrots and a pice of Parsnip that were all watery and the carrots were looking dehydrated from their stint in the microwave. The roast potatoes looked ok ,but I couldnt actually get my knife through the tough exterior , they made my mouth sore and the beef was worse than shoe leather . How the hell the OAP's that were dominating the place managed to eat that I don't know !!! unless they were wise to it and had ordered soft mushy dinners ? we had two drinks each, I had two half shandy's and my partner had two pints of Shandy and the bill came to £31.00 !! We could have gone to Toby carvery and payed less and had a far better Sunday roast . I have to say it was the worst roast dinner I have ever had and we will never be going back

A very good cafe offering the usual very good standard National Trust menu (sandwiches, baked potatoes, other snack meals and cakes (one reservation is, on the cake side, there could more choice for Gluten Free diets)), served by friendly, helpful staff. There's plenty of seating, both inside and outside, and, a new innovation, there is now a room where dogs are welcome. A good place to drop into when you are walking round Chartwell.

We used to live in the village for many years and it seemed fitting to arrange our mothers wake at the pub we used to pop into for drinks or food over the years. Staff were so friendly and attentive, food was great and even had some left over! We were lucky to have amazing weather and we enjoyed all sitting outside in the garden where there was plenty of seating to seat 50 plus people. Highly recommend

We gave this Pub another try, but we had the same experience. We went for Sunday dinner. The food was appalling, and the service was terrible. It's our local pub, and we want to support local businesses, but Green King really needs to sort this out. Staff refunded the food cost and attitude was fine but the meal was very poor quality. Shame as pub is in a great location with nice garden for summer drinks.

8 of us went to the King's Arms for afternoon tea to celebrate a friend's 40th. We were in the Library, which was a perfect size and allowed us to put up some decorations. The afternoon tea itself was really good value for money at £17.95 per head - a good variety of sandwiches inc vegetarian, great cakes and the most amazing scones with plenty of cream and jam. I must particularly mention Kelly, who was a brilliant help from the moment that we booked and looked after us so well on the day. Faultless. I would highly recommend.
