Great place to eat and can take dog and messy grandchild without feeling uncomfortable. The staff are all lovely, I have often said it's the type of place I would want to work. Thanks

We have eaten at groves many times and have been satisfied with our meals hence the reason we keep returning but on Sunday the 15th September that all changed when one of us had the quiche which was wafer thin and hard as a rock and was a case of hunt the filling It was totally inedible and did not resemble a quiche whatsoever even the pastry crust around the outside was over cooked and brittle we have had quiche on numerous occasions in many establishments as it's a favourite dish of ours and as yet we have yet to see one that looked like the one you served was it your chefs first attempt at a quiche maybe and if so let's hope it's his last you were very busy on that day so we decided not to make a fuss but in hind sight it should have been sent back as it couldn't be eaten on the plus side the new potatoes salad and coleslaw were your normal good standard as was the curry one of us had i suggest you show your chef what a quiche should look like as shown in any recipe book so that his idea of a quiche is not served again .

Our ‘on the road’ breakfast at the end of a relaxing week’s holiday based in Chislet. The BOGOF deal was a pleasant surprise and the breakfast passed the Quality Sausage Test. One or two items could have been hotter, but we went away happy and would definitely re-visit. Car park was three quarters full at 09:45, so it’s popular with the natives who were friendly!

We visited for breakfast for the first time in a while, I always have the same allotment breakfast as for health reasons it is the best for me. I was not best pleased when it arrived after a 40 minute wait to discover it no longer came with avocado but now is served with beans which I cannot have, disappointing. We were not pleased to see people that were further back in the queue getting their breakfasts way before ours came out. I am disappointed that I now will not be able to take advantage of the breakfast offer.

Went to Groves for lunch with a friend. It was a shame to see they had a sign up saying limited choices , and also staff shortages. I had the Groves home made quiche, this was a very small slice of an unidentified quiche. It was difficult to say what it was made of as it had 3 tiny bits of sweet red onion in it and I could not taste anything else at all. It was very thin and pale yellow ? This was £9.95 , which for a small bit if salad and potatoes was not good value for money, The service was efficient and fast

No menu on the tables and couldn't read the board easily on the wall behind the serving counter. Staff member appeared impatient in her manner. The receipt flew on the floor as she virtually threw it at me it then laughed. Expensive cheese and tomato sandwich. Two slices of tomato in the sandwich and one slice was an end piece of tomato so a dry piece. Cheese was grated and barely covered the bread. Really not a good experience, expensive at £18.30 for two sandwiches and tea considering the sandwiches were made by someone rather mean. I would certainly not recommend.

No food available, no notices about this outside or even in the cafe, so they chose their picnic bag, filled it up from the things in the fridge then were told they couldn’t have a sandwich or an ice cream. Husband just stopped off to get two slices of cake to takeaway. Once they were placed in the takeaway boxes he didn’t see them til I’ve just opened the box - what on Earth is this? It look like it’s been half eaten already. I held on to the boxes in the car on the way home so not a result of having been bumped around, the person serving actually put this in the box and thought that was acceptable. Won’t bother going here again.

I like going here because its in walking distance from my home so quite often walk there for a beverage and pastry treat. Yesterday I was taken aback by the measly portions of pastries on offer, in particular a slice of chocolate cake on display the last slice thinking that this was just an odd cut left over I asked if I could have this at a reduced price in addition with something else. The polite man serving us said this was a normal cut and the slices come precut from their supplier. Change of supplier needed? I am not one that makes a habit of giving bad reviews and as you can see I have still given 5 stars as I would not like people to get the wrong impression of of our overall experience. I also might add that I would be more likely to complain of too much food served on my plate than too little. I will also add, on the way out we purchased a garden table and four chairs considerably more than one slice of cake.

Inside the garden centre this cafe restaurant is a bit of a gem, busy at weekends but serves up great food. Breakfasts, main meals and an array of cakes and scones to make most of us stuggle with temptation. I've visited here a few times knowing that good food and coffee awaits. Queues to get served at busy times but food is served quite promptly at the numbered tables. Last visit was for breakfast on a Monday morning. Quick service and not too many customers the breakfast is great especially on a 2 for 1 deal and the quality of the locally sourced items especially the sausage puts many a supermarket cafe to shame. I wrote a review recently about a very nice lunch - However the breakfast was a bit disappointing. ( After checking your menu on the Groves sight I noticed that the big breakfast is listed as £6.95 ) but on arriving it was listed as £8.85 ? I opted for the smaller choice but the bacon was like leather , sausage small and no flavour and the tomatoes were cold and very undercooked. Including a tea ( no Toast ) this breakfast was nearly £8 which I dont think is particularly good value. After our review in November last year regarding our visit and the play area we revisited today with a toddler. Sadly little has improved. On a positive it was much cleaner however the toys with no accompanying figures leaves little for toddlers to play with. There are 4 tables in this area and 1 was being used for a business meeting and the other by staff working on a laptop. Put simply this either IS or is not an area for children to enjoy whilst their accompanying adults have visited the garden centre. Disappointing.

Like a lot of people I have been coming here since it opened. Love their toasties which I used to have on a regular basis but what's with half a plate of crisps and hardly any of your lovely salad? I don't like crisps so when I asked recently if the crisps could be left off I was very surprised to see only half of the normal salad they used to put on the plate, I have heard of cutting costs but that is ridiculous. My friend treated me to Fish and Chips here a couple of days ago, I had seen this dish being brought out to customers before so that's what we both decided on as it always looked so good. It was very busy but only waited about 20 minutes for the food. What a disappointment the Fish was! It was full of bones and very thin for what you paid for it. Eat the chips and some rock hard peas and left the rest. Suffice to say I will not be eating at your Cafe any longer.

Popped in for a bite with 2 other people on Wednesday 7th March 1pm ish. There was no source of heating in the cafe area or attempts to make it warm . A 40 mins wait on food , alright if it’s warm. No visible sign telling you what the soup of the day was, when I asked a member of staff she was eating food where she had just come out of the back kitchen. Perhaps cutting the menu down will help with demands after all its a small kitchen and the menu is very ambitious for a small garden centre.

Bad move, I had Grove quiche with salad and new potatoes, this was served in a bowl?? therefore the hot quiche and potatoes wilted the salad making it inedible, the potatoes were disgusting and a very dark colour. The meal did not justify the £7.95 charged. My husband had ham egg and chips which was described as gammon, but was a very thin piece of processed ham and the egg was swimming in grease. We popped into the Garden Centre and decided to have lunch - bad mistake! The place was crowded and there was a buzz about it, though most of the customers seemed elderly. We queued to place our order from the specials board - brie triangles for me, beef stew for my husband.I didn`t want a baguette which was on the board with the brie, so requested chips instead. It was expensive in our opinion - over £7 for ONE brie triangle which came without the advertised cranberry sauce, and over £8 for a tiny portion of stew which was topped by some rather odd scones rather than dumplings as we would know them. But worse, while my husband was at the counter, he saw the chef manhandling food about on a plate, not wearing gloves, in order to make room for another item. The brie turned up with the chips as requested, but they were barely cooked, quite hard and not brown. In order to get dressing or tomato ketchup you have to queue again as it is not on offer at the counter, or tables, and ask for it. It comes in tiny sachets, you are given a handful of these, and they are extremely frustrating to tear open. Why they cannot put sauces on the table, or at least have them to hand when you order, I do not know.Altogether disappointing and extremely overpriced for what it was.

We often meet up with friends here, and have a pleasant mooch around the garden centre before going into restaurant area for lunch, or just coffee and cake. As previously stated there is a large selection of cakes, scones and pies. The sandwiches and quiches are good, as are the ham, egg and chips. The staff are very efficient and friendly, and patient with customers who are mentally or physically disabled (my husband has had a stroke). There is also an outside eating area for warmer days. We have always had a pleasant experience here and can recommend it.

First in for breakfast on a Sunday morning at 10.00 a.m. when the garden centre opens, we were sadly disappointed by the price and quality of our food. It should not be that difficult to serve up a standard English breakfast that is both tasty and HOT. The food was delivered to our table quite quickly and was clearly not all cooked freshly that morning. It was also dished up on stone cold plates with the result that the food itself was cold within minutes. Surely, any restaurant worthy of the name should be able to heat plates as well as food?

We have driven past this garden centre many times, not realising there was such a good restaurant inside! So we decided to check it out whilst before buying gardening items. There is plenty of choice on the menu, from a cooked breakfasts to cream teas, toasted sandwiches, jacket potatoes to full meals. Very quick and friendly service. Well presented and good hot food at a reasonable price We have been back a few times now and it is always consistently good.

While shopping at this garden centre we decided to have something to eat. Had a latte & a slice of apple pie with icecream. Pleasant surroundings, enjoyed looking out on the plants for sale. The member of staff was welcoming. We would visit again.

We had a voucher for carvery at £6. We had never been before. When we arrived we felt a little lost as did not know the procedure. However once we found someone to help we relaxed and went to the bar to order the carvery. We could have ordered at the table, by using a barcode, but as we are in our seventies, and not too computer savvy we went to the bar. The carvery was lovely. Beef was cooked as i like it, although as it was a new joint they brought out, it was a little fatty. The turkey was delicious. We were very happy as there were brussel sprouts and swede mix which we love. We really enjoyed the meal. The only thing we left on our plates was the beef fat. Otherwise we ate everything else on our plate.

Great location in a quiet village with garden, traditional pub food of high quality and reasonable price in an atmospheric old inn. Friendly staff. We've been a number of times over the years and it is our favourite. Only one bad experience when it was leased over a year or so ago.

I visit Herne bay about five times a year. I used to go playing the Amusements in neptunes and used to eat lovely fish and chips there. They used to be free because I played the machines. When it closed I tried deans place as the chef worked there after neptunes closed. The fish was still nice.. Fast forward years and the fish portions seemed smaller. The last few times including this one the fish batter is softer. Fish was smaller and not as tasty This time granddaughter saveloy was hard. Not like a saveloy taste imo. My fish was small slimy texture and soft batter insipid flavour and chips looked anaemically white. Nothing special to taste . . My wife's wasn't too bad but at nearly fifteen pounds each i won't ever go again.
