Dreadful customer service and food. We had cheesey chips which were all squashed together in a lump with hardly any cheese on top. The toasted sandwiches were served in a paper bag instead of a carton making them soggy. Coffee was cold and overpriced. Such a shame as the view sitting outside is lovely. Won't be going back !

My advice to anyone thinking of going to this tearoom is Do Not! I have been going to this restaurant regularly for a long time. The staff were always polite and a credit to their employer. I visited about 3 weeks ago but will definitely not be going back again. The lady who served me was extremely rude. The tables in the Orangery (where everyone likes to sit) were laid out for afternoon tea. This was 10.30 in the morning! The previous staff would put a time on the tables from when these were reserved, meaning that if you left prior to this you were able to sit there. When we arrived there were only 3 tables that you could sit at and needless to say no-one arrived to sit at the reserved ones. I am also aware that it was the same for the afternoon. e.g Tables were still laid out but not occupied! It is such a shame when something goes down hill to this degree as this is a beautiful setting.

This was our second visit to Sonoma and did not disappoint. Staff are friendly, helpful and efficient. Food excellent, thank you .

Service was poor - very slow for us and the people around us. We had Huevos Rancheros and in adding chorizo the price was £19! Would give the dish a 3/10 - flavour of black beans/mushrooms was really odd and everything had been dumped on a tortilla - not sure how you were supposed to eat it. Orange juice was £3.50 but tasted like cheap supermarket juice which comes from a carton, something confirmed by our waitress. All in - nearly £50 for brunch for two. Very busy. Have no idea why…

After eating here a few years ago and enjoying it, I thought I would try again after new management and hearing good things. Staff were friendly and accommodating BUT food was appalling. We actually couldn't finish it and I left feeling sick, feel ill just thinking about it. Haven't eaten such bad food before, it was shocking. Will never go back. Wish I had read the reviews on here before going!

Website and socials make this place out to be something a lot nicer than it is. There is no kitchen so food is cooked on small griddles behind the counter. The produce itself although claimed to be local was not great, bacon had no flavour and was dry and chewy. The sausage was no way a local butchers sausage, couldn’t even eat it - looking at photos of previous customers what I received was completely different. I was expecting a chunky herby butchers sausage and instead got something that looked like something you’d get for a £3 fry up in Benidorm. Toast burnt on one side to top it off. I think considering the equipment they’re using they do well but I personally would rather stay at home or eat elsewhere than pay for that standard. The coffee however was really good.

We saw the sign for the Star Inn and thought we'd try it for a Sunday lunch. We weren't disappointed. Lovely roast lunch and dessert. Very friendly staff. It was a beautiful day and warm enough tk sit in ths garden. Really glad we tried the pub and will return.

Not a bad little pub, I usually pop here on a friday for a quick drink, staff are very polite 😁

Very disappointed that the sea bass only came with new potatoes, what ever happened to healthy eating and having some other veg with it as standard? Which is what I would expect at any restaurant and not have to order separately, otherwise the meal would've scored 5 points as what I got was very tasty but not worth £12

What a delightful place to stay. Fantastic food and ambience. We found a snug corner with old sofas to spend a few hours in, nattering to friends and the staff. Comfortable room with all necessary. Well located to Tenterden and surrounding towns.
