A pale of its former self. The milkshakes I just had was £5 and had the consistency of milk with added syrup. A £5 smoothie my partner had, wasn’t blended properly and had too many large chunks. Wouldn’t mind the price if the quality matched, but we feel ripped off.

Overall, a nice, lovely cafe. I appreciate the lunch options available there as well pudding. However, the avocado and halloumi sandwich was a little bit ‘tired’ as it seemed like the toast was on the windowsill for three days, doesn’t feel fresh. The caramel shortcake is one of the best I’ve got a chance to try though. As far as the customer service goes, the lady at the till was polite and quite friendly- so no complaints with that. The cafe is located in the vicinity of the necessities, including Sainsbury’s, Swan Walk, Remembrance Park, plus, it has a few places outside to enjoy sunny weather.

The food is decent. Nice cozy place. But my main problem is how slow the service is. I ordered a cold sandwich when it was quiet and it took them 9 minutes to put it on a plate and bring it to my table. Additionally the tables aren’t cleaned and regularly. So, you have to sit on a dirty table full of crumbs until someone comes by and cleans it, which is when they bring your food. And have a mentioned it’s pricey aswell. The money you spend doesn’t get the service you would expect.

We try to avoid the usual coffee chains, so we were delighted to see some vacant tables at Esquires. I now know why. Staff were very young and mainly a bit under-prepared. Many tables were left uncleared and the place felt a bit shambolic. We ordered two coffees and two bacon rolls. The price was ridiculous, with sachets of unbranded catering sauce being charged at £1 each and an extra rasher of bacon coming in at a ludicrous £1.75. If this was home-cured free-range bacon from a local farm, then it would still be expensive, but for a rasher of flabby, cash and carry bargain bacon it was extortionate. The bacon rolls came inappropriately quickly and we could virtually hear the ping of the microwave as they were clearly nuked to order. Coffee arrived after a long wait and a nudge to the Barista, who appeared baffled by the ordering process. Other people were also asking where their order was and we saw a waiter carrying the same meals around for what seemed hours before dumping them on a table. Outside tables must be sponsored by Benson and Hedges as nearly every one was occupied by a heavy smoker. I don't blame the staff – they were clearly minimum wage kids doing their best, but it was an absolute shambles.

New and much improved. The decor the atmosphere and the whole vibe is much better than the sorry excuse that this place sadly became. I hope the new improved cafe goes from strength to strength. Not the cheapest coffee but it’s now a nice place to be again! Update Feb 2024 Still a nice place for a coffee but their system is so slow. Even when it’s not busy you get a table no. to wait for your coffee to be brought to you. Yes even for just one coffee! Went into Horsham today. I like the ambience and the staff are friendly. Thought I would try a toasted teacake and coffee. The teacake arrived and it wasn't just burned on top (we all know how easy it is to burn the top section) but it arrived charcoaled and incinerated. "Oh you don't like it burned" was the comment "some people do" So can you imagine it at the till? "How would you like your teacake? Slightly toasted, blackened or incinerated?" I really don't think so. And yes it was changed but why serve it in the first place?

This is our first visit since the re furb. Clean tables, friendly service and my wife was pleased with her large cheese and mushroom toastie with a side salad and crisps. It was £6.55 but large enough and tasty enough to justify, very filling. However the cakes were pricey, around £3-£4.50 which I though was expensive along with coffee at between £3 to £4. You can find cheaper places in Horsham and if they took a pound off their cakes and pastries in particular, this could be a winner

Looks much better than before and the positive review ends up here. All the tables were completed packed with piled dirty dishes and cups from previous customers and when asked politely to a member of the staff to clean our table we were greeted with a smirk and very poor attitude. Not impressed with the team, dragging their feet and just watching the dirty plates pilling up higher and higher, completely lost where the ordered food would end up. Order a latte to have in, ending up with the drink on a take away plastic cup. When asked why, one member of the staff was kind enough to let us know that had run out of cups. I wonder why, just looking to the other tables... We got up and left this sh#t hole. I'll stay away from this place as the plague, I´ll spend my money elsewhere.

The refurb is great and the fact that there's more than 1 vegan option but went in today since reopening to have a tea and not sure I would go back. Green tea didn't have much flavour and the pot was only half full, plus waited around 25mins for it. While waiting, I watched the staff and they were all generally slow and at times not doing much even though there were tables piled with dirty plates and people waiting for drinks. I have worked in a cafe like this and this team were allover the place . The most worrying thing was watching multiple staff touch the rim of cups, the person making drinks and then a different person who was bringing them out, who had been moving from the till, to dishwasher to possibly prepping food. On the way out we saw the person who was making the coffee blow his nose and then start touching stuff behind the counter. I'm not a big hygiene freak but it a big issue having so many people touch the rim of your cup especially when their not cleaning their hands

The site has undergone a complete transformation and is unrecognisable. It is now under new management who have clearly spent a fortune on a stunning refurbishment of what was a very tired looking establishment. They have also revamped the food menu which is now all made fresh on site and the staff were really friendly and courteous. Drinks and food are delivered to your table rather than having to stand and wait at the counter. I had a coffee, panini and cake all of which was delicious. I don’t know what happened to Esquires. It used to be the best place in Horsham to take the kids get a milkshake and then watch the kids play in the fountains (they got closed down just so the joy is sucked out of everything). It got taken over I presume, all the old staff who had been there for years left. Now it doesn’t know what it is, is it a cafe, a bar, a restaurant? Who knows. I use Esquires horsham often for coffee, unless there is que as its often very slow service - however the coffee is great. I called in today to meet my wife for lunch, the service was slow but the staff were polite and trying their best, and that's all anyone can ask. We chose the all day breakfast as it looked good with beautifully poached eggs and quality sausages - we got overcooked scrambled eggs and sausages that would be served at a poor roadside cafe - therefore I would not choose this option again. I would have prefered to have sent this review directly to the shop, but i did not see an option.

Beautiful premises & location. Love the interior & decoration here. Have been coming here a while but met Candy today who has recently taken over. Her friendly & welcoming personality shines bright. Her act of kindness today was greatly appreciated & wish her all the best in her venture. Thank you Candy. The Croque Monsieur is the best!!!

We went there for a sit in curry. Couldn't fault it, food was excellent and service was great. Improved since last time. Well done.

Had a really lovely evening and meal. The lady serving us was extremely lovely, polite and funny as well as being super attentive. The food options were really interesting and unusual and so delicious. But beware the portions are big ! Great little pub and would definitely visit again !
