Lovely pub, the newly decorated rooms make it lovely and cosy. Oli is always welcoming and incredibly chatty. Me and my husband love coming and sitting by the fire in the winter and thoroughly enjoy sitting by the canal in the summer. Best pub in town with the best location for summer evenings.

Have been going to this pub for years, it has been Pub #1 on my Chichester pub crawl for the past decade before I moved away. Recently re-visited as I was in the area and it's kept its charm. Welcoming and busy, it's a great pub. I paid over £10 for two bottles of cider however, which I think is a bit much, I think around £4 each is the correct price in this current climate, especially at a time when pubs are wanting people to come, stay and drink multiple drinks. The placement of the pub is another highlight however, with a view of the canal and access to some lovely walks. On the other hand, I would advise this pub to become dog friendly. As it is situated so close to the canal walk, dog walkers ending a stroll along the canal would be a good new customer clientele for this pub.

Pricey red wine @ £8 per 175ml glass. Some patrons swearing at pub in conversation with bartender (as a norm it seemed). The view of canal basin and sofa at fir place made up for the crass clientelle. Outside entranxe needs a spruce and clean up...even though its winter!!

Great little pub full of locals having a good drink and shooting pool. Friendly staff. Been here before when it was much bigger in side. It's 2 minutes from the station 🚉 so you can come by and wait for your train 🚉 Or have a drink after your boat 🛥 trip along the canal.

Can't fault the location at the end of Chichester canal, perfect for after a SUP/kayak session and I will be returning because of this. However there are some things I'd recommend they improve on regarding the mens toilets: Create an hour rota to check the state of them (I was there for a good couple of hours yesterday evening and empty bottles and tissues around the sinks were not cleared away). Check toilet paper (one was empty the whole time). Fix soap dispenser on wall or remove the fixing. Put some posters in the empty frames above the urinals. Clean the black crud on the floor tiles and just generally give them a deep clean. One of those timed air fresheners put on the wall might be a good idea as well, along with some new signs on the front of all the toilets.

Does not look much from the front but the outside terrace is idillic given its so close to a busy road out front. True to itself inside and with a lovely setting on the canal basin out back it's a hidden treasure

Visiting Chichester, wandered down to tthe canal basin. It was overcast lookingn to rain so popped into The Richmond for a drink. Definately not a tourist pub, mainly Royal Mail workers from across the road. Friendly but rather drab inside which is a shame as the location with outdoor seating overlooking the canal basin is great.

Nothing to look at inside or out. Popped in for a drink yesterday while waiting for the bus. Patio in the front which catches the sun in the afternoon. Patio at the back overlooking the canal which is nice. The gardens could do with pot plant and hanging baskets to brighten them up.

I really like this pub, nice atmosphere and lovely staff. We initially stopped here to look over the canal but it started raining so we came inside and sat by the amazing fireplace. Wasn’t too busy and plenty of comfy seating and the drinks were reasonably priced. Would definitely come here again :)

Chichester Canal Basin is a hidden gem where you can watch the wildlife and enjoy the sun, The Richmond is a good looking building from the outside but that's as good as it gets. The inside is scruffy, noisy and not at all welcoming. If you want a pint, football on the telly, a game of pool and a noisy backdrop then this is the place for you, otherwise steer clear.

A MASSIVE thank you to Ollie and his fantastic team for making my daughter's wedding reception wonderful! We booked the "Snug" for the do. We were made to feel so welcome, even when setting up the night before..nothing was to much trouble! Thank you to the wonderful bar lady for her outstanding service. Apart from the amazing views you get of the Canal, I cannot recommend this venue for any occassion enough...you will not be dissapointed! Thanks again guys x

The pub has a short bar, but not helped by having three overweight men taking over the bar playing cards. While I appreciate it was two grandfathers looking after their mentally handicapped grandson, couldn't they move to one of the tables to play cards? Also while the mentally handicapped grandson had the good grace to smoke his rollies outside, one of the grandfathers insisted on puffing away on a vape at the bar.

What an awful pub this place is. Popped in for a drink before the cinema - the pub is dated & very tatty. Extremely cold, open fire not lit. Mould all over windows & on ceiling. Had a glass of very sour wine & a pint of Guinness.....£11.95!!!! Never paid so much for a drink in a chichester. Place unwelcoming & unfriendly. Definitely never going again & would definitely not recommend. Shame on the landlord.

Aweful service, visited with my sister for a quick lunch, took ages for our sandwiches to arrive, my hot chocolate was cold, plates/dishes left on tables - seemed to be plenty of people milling around in the kitchen, and that’s where they stayed. One person bringing food out, two behind the counter - no co-ordination. Queue to be served was ridiculous. Don’t think I’ll be visiting again.

I was picking up my car from a garage in Kirdford. to think my wife are bringing Me across I decided to stop at the half-moon pub to treat her to lunch as we approach the pub the front door appeared locked however there was no times of opening or closing or no menus we walked around the side to find people inside as we arrived towards the rear of the pub we presented with a beautiful garden and I noticed a rear patio door I opened the patio door and a man said what do you want? I said are you open? His reply was the front door is locked. What does that tell you. I found this to be extremely rude considering they are supposed to be serving the publicyoung lady came up to us and told us sorry sir we’re not opening until midday at this time. It was 1146 whilst the pub was closed. The man’s rudeness has made me realise I never need to visit this pub again. I’m not sure if he’s the owner of the worker chef or just someone in there, but I found his rudeness to be completely and utterly unacceptable on this occasion.
