Awful experience at the tills Not helpful at all

A worker there named Theresa helped me find the right size for my graduation suit, she went above and beyond for me, was extremely patient, kind and helpful. So was the manager. I will definitely continue to come here!

Excellent service from entry to till.

Not the best experience Saturday in store my online order wasn’t there for me to pick up, unhelpful assistant made me feel like it was my fault , and said that I probably had it sent to another branch in Chichester, she told me to ring them and see as she couldn’t, I found the email confirming it was North street, still unhelpful. I went to the desk to return something and another assistant saved the day and found what I ordered in store, she was amazing! I felt close to tears with the attitude of the original assistant.

Maybe try having some staff with some decorum, being called a young man over and over again and being told off is not a great way to impress a potential buyer. Get rid of the old bint, Susan, in the fitting rooms.

Such very amenable and helpful staff..... and not once have I ever seen a food out of date. If you are unsure if anything you simply get help: and the food quality is superb

Waiting a short while,ordered pancakes and maple syrup with bacon and a tea, pancakes and bacon came cold, which was a shame as these would have been nice cooked properly

Great customer service from a lovely assistant called Maggie. Stopped what she was doing to assist me and my daughter when we couldn't find the tights in the colour we wanted. She ordered them in and had them sent to a store nearer to us which we collected within 24hrs. Also used a 20% discount which was on my Sparks card so very happy shopper! Thank you :-)

Came here for lunch. It was very busy. Tried to get a table but was heckled by staff from across the room and told you can't have a table until you get food. If this is the case why not clearly display this on a sign? Why not have member of staff managing the queue and helping customers? I have an elderly relative who would not be able to wait in the extremely slow queue so we will no longer be able to dine here. Very unprofessional behavior from staff.

EBI (Even Better If) They actually sold what they say they sell on the menu They didn’t expect you to pay for items that are not available Summary We have dined in M&S Cafe’s many times over the years, but the Chichester cafe (our local branch) is the worst experience of them all and we will not be wasting our time and money there again. I have noticed on the last few occasions, including this one, that they often don’t have available food that is advertised in bold letters on the menu above the tills, especially hot food. They don’t tell you this until you arrive at the front of the queue, only to be told that multiple items are not available, so you end up scratching around for a sandwich from the fridge, with other frustrated customers behind you in the queue. The chicken ciabatta was not available, so I asked for the poached egg and mashed avocado. I was informed that it wasn’t available either, so I politely enquired as to the possibility of poached egg on toast. The nice till lady went in the kitchen to ask and returned to apologetically inform me that I could have it, but only if I also paid for the non-available avocado! Yes, I know…unbelievable, as Victor Meldrew would say. At that point I grabbed a sandwich from the fridge and would have left immediately, but for the fact that it was pouring down outside.

I never normally leave a review, as I feel people love to moan, infact if anything I compliment or praise where needed. But I feel I need to say this, my friend and I went into the cafe yesterday and the Master Barista obviously got out of bed the wrong side and was very snide and rude to us, purely because we chose an unclean table and she hadn't finished cleaning it, she was very annoyed at us, and made it clear she was fed up with us, we were gobsmacked as we were nothing but polite and light hearted to her

It was a hot day and there was no air conditioning, when we asked staff why it was not on we were told if you find out then let us know. So basically the staff cannot request the air conditioning to be turned on. Totally ridiculous, a very uncomfortable experience.

Extremely rude woman working on self service checkouts. 0 customer service level. AVOID this store at all costs. I left my purchase there rather than deal with the unprofessionalism. Save yourself the headache

Not always shopping in the city centre, today I had to be there & called in to buy some flowers & veg. I went to pay on my way out & where there were tills before there are now machines. I wanted to pay with cash & had not used these selfserve machines before - by choice. I was now holding up the queue & had to look around for help. I won't be using M&S for food again, I left feeling embarrassed.

The foodhall is so inferior. I can't understand why a food supermarket happens to have such terrible lunches and service in their foodhall

Third time in three weeks I have walked out of the coffee shop only one till open staff running in circles queue with 10 people in front and today no children’s sandwiches. Very poor for M and S. need to do better.

Friday lunchtime. Very busy. Some aisles totally blocked at badly designed pinch-points by inconsiderate shoppers causing much irritation to other customers trying to navigate round the store. Only 3 card-only tills working with a very long queue with some shoppers only discovering at the end that the cash tills were out of action. Not a positive experience.

Thank you Tracey (from the lingerie department, Chichester) for all your help and kindness, I am not a shopper, but I thought the service, kindness & professionalism was outstanding & made the experience a positive one 😁

Why have M&S stopped serving plain scones in the cafe? They serve fruit and cheese scones not helpful if you don't like fruit scones-and you just fancy jam and clotted cream

Nice food, good coffee. Really polite and offered to carry tray over for me as I had a pushchair. Service slow and social distancing became a problem queuing.

Wouldn’t allow me to use the baby feeding room to breastfeed my child, shocking service and the staff members handling of the situation was appalling, expected far better from such a ‘trusted’ company.

Can’t seem to order the correct baby clothing size on a return item and won’t offer a refund as it was a gift. Got so ridiculous that we have just given up.

I often visit the Chichester branch of M & S Food Hall for different types of products and for their good range of quality fruit and vegetables. The staff on hand are always hard at work replenishing stock and give a friendly and helpful customer service. Only criticism I have is the floor space can feel cramped at busier times. Maybe relocating to the old HoF site could fix that...

Absolute joke , advertising products for Christmas pre order, walk into any store its the first thing you see pre order you Christmas food now !!! Only to find NO STOCK AVAILABLE. See lots of nice things to buy in store only, go to the store SOLD OUT NOT SURE IF WERE GET MORE STOCK IN. Here's some advice, firstly if you can't provide the service to advertise it in a brochure at the front of the store, of you can't provide the product dont advertise it in the brochure . Understand were living in testing times, but it's not like we didn't see this coming. Covids been around for over a year now, and i would have thought that big companies would have managed a way around ot by now.

went into the cafe today. what a farce long queues to be served. didnt mind that so much,it was the staff member that was doing track and trace,oh dear what can you say?she had her mask way down under her nose ,keep taking it off,pandemic going on. talking to people like they were children. tables were dirty ,just awful. machines broken down yet again.

Staff don’t have a clue About dealing with the current situation of Covid-19. It’s simple take the order, ask people to sit down, bring the food and drink to the people, don’t make people wait for their drinks at the counter then bring the food out.

After visiting the store on Saturday, we decided to have some food in the restaurant, sadly they had run out of the gluten free range of sandwiches, my wife asked a member of staff Mr Ian Brown if they had any more available he checked the kitchen and told us that they had sold out, he then asked us to wait while he checked in the main store, he returned with some rolls and said that he would ask the kitchen to prepare something. He returned with some cheese rolls which allowed my wife to to dine. Thank you Ian you went beyond our expectations and can only wish all staff took your approach to the customer. Thanks again. After misleading info on the M&S website, I went in to the East Street Chichester branch only to be told that the goods I was looking for were at their North Street branch which was not yet open. The manager (Rob) at East St went to extraordinary lengths to make sure I got the goods I required for which I was very grateful. He is a credit to Marks & Spencers.

We went to the cafe, the drinks were good & the cafe stays open till 17.00.

Went to M&S cafe in East Street on 23 February for refreshments and ordered a bacon roll for £3.50 and expecting a large roll with the quantity you would expect for £3.50, out came a small white roll with two thin slices of bacon, very over priced for the quality of food received.

Only down side parking otherwise lovely food as always🤓

Had a good experience shopping in this store on a cold winter day in mid-February. Heaters at the entrance worked well. Things I loved: aisles wide enough for 2-way traffic, £5 meal deals, the huge range of food and very friendly floor staff. I only visited the food hall on the ground floor so I can't comment on the cafe and gents department on the upper floor. M&S is definitely worthy of my recommendation as a 'must stop by' destination in the UK.

Smallish store but quite busy. The range of clothes for men has improved considerably with far betree colours.

Bit more expensive but hey its M & S. Quality food and clothing. We bought a lovely jumper and some very different bread.....garlic and olive....its well nice.

A welcome stop late afternoon for a tasty tea cake and cup of tea.

Had an excellent steak pie and mash with plenty hot gravy in the M & S cafe. Not just any steak pie but an M & S steak pie. Would certainly have another one.

Have had numbers of issues in past few months. Helpful friendly staff who do their best. Prior to Xmas dishwasher not working for two weeks only could offer coffee in wax cups totally unacceptable for lover of good coffee. Yesterday waited 30 mins for hot meal only to be told microwave packed up. Money refunded but does not help husband who needs to eat lunchtime, Not the standard expected from M&S

Visited cafe upstairs. Good service, clean and modern. Large seating area that overlooks main shopping street. Moving escalator to go up but have to use standard flight of steps to come down. Food hall on ground floor. Menswear on first floor next to cafe. Women's wear and other departments in separate M&S store in North Street.

Busy branch but offers exactly what you expect. There is a second store in town covering women's clothes etc

Quality products that last, and.....quality foods always reliable.

Chichester is horrible in general, overrated overpriced and snobby, I dislike living here a lot 😱🤮

Lovely staff easy to get around find what I need

Town centre, backs onto large pay car park, metered on street parking nearby. This store is food sales on ground floor and men's clothing and cafeteria on second floor. Not one of the biggest stores but has a good range. Ladies clothing store is on North Street, 5 minutes walk away, and not surprisingly is a larger two floor store.

Marks in Chichester is in two different locations. Not even close to each other. You have to know which sells what or you end up walking round in circles. One is food and some clothes (cant remember men or women). The other is just clothes. (Again I cant remember which). We were only passing through but Marks is a No No if we ever go there again.

Marks and Spencer, what is there to say about this wonderful store that that hasn't already been said. I like this store very much the food, the little cafe upstairs, the clothing that i find is of very good quality and does not shrink and the underwear is always nice and sometimes M&S get the colours for a particular season spot on. Good show M&S, long may this store continue to stay open for buisness.

New clothes range in stock is much better than last season - better choice but prices appear to be more expensive than they were. In-store cafeteria hot food unattractively presented and poorly cooked. Served with a smile though!

As I am dissabled the lift size and its access space is very tight to move in it and outside of it.

Very good place to shop with a good cafe. Prices reasonable.

We visited the M&S cafe for lunch and were very disappointed. We had to clear our own table, qeued for ages at the till, food ordered took ages to come and baked potatoes were cold and fillings even colder! Staff not very attentive. No dressing available for salad apart from a sachet of mayo, not good. Will avoid in the future.

Very good value for money. Excellent choice of clothes. And a bra fitting service for my wife .
