Dave was great, great service and atmosphere in the darts area. Very helpful and attentive and the food was great!!!!!!

I had a group of 10 come for pizza and darts. The manager Adana and bar staff Jess were incredible. They took all of our orders efficiently, provided us drinks and demonstrated darts brilliantly. They were attentive and created an amazing night for us. Thank you so much! Our night was made because of you both.

We as a group of friends were staying at the nearby premier inn overnight, before next morning going on a 3 night mini cruise. So we ventured out in the city centre main pedestrian street where we went into this lively pub. We found a seat and ordered food at the bar, I had the 7 oz gammon steak with chips, fried egg, pineapple ring and peas at £9.50. Food was good and reasonable value with staff friendly.

Played darts with there new interactive darts. Really fun and good value for money. And friendly staff. Would come again

I went into this pub on Friday at about 3:30 after work just to get a drink. A girl was working behind the bar cleaning a jug. She saw me ignored me and carried on cleaning. Was just trying to get a drink. Waited for 7 minutes while being ignored then decided to leave. Disgraceful service

Just to give people “the heads up” if you’re feeling unwell and need to use a toilet cubicle, do let a staff member know or you will be accused of taking drugs in there and asked to leave, not only humiliating for our 6mnths pregnant daughter in law who had to experience this in front of friends and family and customers, totally an outrageous accusation which none of us will forget in a hurry, disgusting practice and ruined the whole evening😡

Been to this bar quite a few times and up until Sunday night I had nothing but good things to say about it. We were a group of 10 who had just been to the Madness concert at the Guildhall and had been in O’Neills before the show. We’d all had a few drinks but kept to ourselves so certainly weren’t causing any trouble. The bar was very busy with lots of people who’d been to the concert. My wife is 6 months pregnant and wasn’t feeling great so went to the Ladies toilet. She used a cubicle for between 5-10mins. She said that she thought she was probably going to be sick. My wife returned to our group and sat down. Shortly after, a member of the door staff approached her and announced “your group won’t be allowed back in the premises again this evening because we’ve been informed that you were in the toilets doing something you shouldn’t be doing.” He also said that it won’t be accepted that there is any other reason why you might spend that amount of time inside of a toilet cubicle. We laughed at first and my wife explained that she is 6 months pregnant, hasn’t touched a drop of alcohol in months and not that’s it’s particularly relevant but hasn’t ever touched drugs in her life. Our friends and family were furiously verbally defending my wife, equally as gobsmacked that such an accusation had been made. My wife is left feeling completely embarrassed and humiliated. I ask that any reader of this review puts themselves in my wife’s shoes for a moment and imagine that you’re out with friends and family when suddenly out of nowhere you’re told to leave because you’ve been accused of something that is not only illegal, but harmful to your unborn baby. Completely humiliating and ruined the night. We have since spoken to people at O’Neills via phone-call and email and haven’t received a single apology for the way in which my wife was treated. We are looking into taking this much further. Defamation of character is quite serious.

Durante un fin de semana en Southampton, reservé una mesa aquí para mí y mi familia, pagué un depósito de 10 ya que puede estar bastante ocupado y no quería arriesgarme a no conseguir una mesa. Llegué un poco antes de lo que esperaba con mi hijo menor, entré directamente y me senté en una mesa a esperar la llegada de mi otro hijo y su pareja. Pedí algunas bebidas en la aplicación, llegaron muy rápido y el camarero fue muy educado con una sonrisa. Alrededor de 20 minutos después, un hombre con un sujetapapeles se acercó a mi mesa y dijo "sabes que tienes que dejar esta mesa a las 8, ¿verdad?". ¿Cómo sabría esto? no había ninguna tarjeta reservada en la mesa y nadie me dijo cuando llegué. Encontré su manera de ser grosera, le expliqué que tenía una mesa reservada y él dijo que estaba bien porque la mesa en la que estaba sentado era mi mesa reservada, pero debo irme a las 9 pm. Poco después de que mi hijo y su pareja aparecieran, lo detuvieron de entrar, pero el mismo hombre hasta que mi hijo explicó que se encontraba con alguien aquí que ya había llegado, el hombre con el portapapeles le dijo que teníamos que irnos a las 8. 30? cuando me lo había dicho minutos antes de las 9 de la noche.Entiendo que este lugar es bastante animado y era temprano en la noche de un sábado, pero un grupo de alrededor de 8 personas estaban a 2 mesas de distancia de nosotros que ya estaban muy borrachos, gritándose entre sí, maldiciendo y en general molestando a los otros clientes. No soy una persona irracional y entiendo que la gente se pone ruidosa y ruidosa cuando está afuera y se divierte, pero le gritaban a la gente de un extremo al otro del lugar llamándolos "c * nts". y ni un solo miembro del personal les habló sobre su comportamiento y continuó durante más de una hora, al final nos fuimos. lo cual es una pena porque la comida era muy buena, muy buenos precios, los bistecs estaban cocinados a la perfección y buenos tamaños de las porciones. La camarera del bar era muy conversadora y feliz, siento que el personal del piso decepcionó al lugar. me desanimaría visitar de nuevo.

Popped in for a drink after shopping. So nicely decorated since being the Spitfire. Fantastic bar service from Emily....so friendly and remembered our drinks when we reordered....an absolute credit to the pub....thank you

My sister and I went here yesterday, it is now o'neills. Mark made us feel so welcome. Having previously come from Yates down the road the level of customer service was so much higher.

My friends and I went for lunch and we had a very good one and couple of drinks, all quite reasonable prices. Nice clean place and friendly, happy staff. Definitely go again.

I had breakfast in the pub (now O'Neils) and was very pleasantly surprised at the friendly service I received - found a table easily and ordering was no issue - there were plenty of screens showing sport but with no commentary only background music which was appropriate for the time of dayThe food arrived in good time and the quality was really good - well presented and the right quantity - Emily was our server and she was friendly and ensured everything was OK

Ideal para grupos que desean pasar una noche animada, ¡y había muchos aquí! El servicio era normal y las bebidas como era de esperar. Ambiente más para el público más joven o de fiesta pero perfectamente bien.

Hoy estuve en el pub para almorzar y experimenté algo que no había experimentado durante mucho tiempo: la señora detrás del bar, Julia, fue extremadamente servicial y muy conocedora, especialmente porque sufro de alergias. Tenía total confianza en su consejo, que se dio con una sonrisa y me hizo sentir como si estuviera en un restaurante de primera clase en Londres: Spitfire bien hecho por contratar a personas así.

Tried this pub for breakfast (a mega full-English with plenty of good coffee) and thoroughly enjoyed the experience; staff all really friendly and helpful. So what's not to like?

Vimos la semifinal de rugby de la Copa Mundial en el Spitfire. Lugar bien organizado, excelente comida, excelente servicio, maravillosa variedad de cerveza a precios realmente competitivos. Tengo que mencionar al personal que fue educado y atento, lo cual es realmente bueno cuando consideras que este es un pub del centro de la ciudad que trabaja a pleno rendimiento. Buen trabajo bien hecho.

Visité aquí hoy para almorzar con mi madre, justo después del mediodía e intenté pedir 2 comidas diferentes y me dijeron que no quedaba nada, pedí una alternativa del menú y no tenían esa (¡una broma como solo después del mediodía! ! ], así que me di por vencido y solo tomé un café, usé el inodoro antes de que nos fuéramos y ninguno de los 3 lavabos en el baño de mujeres tenía agua corriente, nos dimos cuenta de esto demasiado tarde ya que ya había dispensado jabón en nuestras manos y no había manera de lavándolo, no hay señales para decirte esto! y un panel suelto en la parte delantera del fregadero cayó hacia adelante y me cortó la pierna, ciertamente no me molestaría volver a comer aquí ya que las últimas veces han sido terribles, una verdadera lástima ya que solía ser un buen lugar para comer.

Great 2 pop in for a pint with very humours staff! The atmosphere is decent as well the Steaks have been on point everytime I had one too!😄

If there was an zero rating I would give that.. cold chips, undercooked onion rings, very microwaved partners meal, no one around to speak to let alone a check back.... This is the same everytime sack the chef if they can't be basic meals.

Went to spitfire for lunch on Tuesday 10 th September and had a great meal. Staff were very attentive especially Julia

2 years ago you could get a cheesy and spinach tart with potatoes or halloumi in batter with chips now the Vegetarian choice is very bland.

Staff were very friendly and efficient. They had everything ready, the way we had agreed and made sure breakfast was delivered on time. Spitfire is a clean, good quality pub that delivers exactly what it promises.

Was served 10 minutes after standing there trying to get attention of the bartender, they were too busy standing around in the glass wash area talking eating and them on their phones. Highly inappropriate!

Popped in for lunch and drinks. The meal deal was 2 for £8.50 which was good, my bangers and mash was tasty but you couldn't see the mash for gravy. My wife's chicken Caesar salad was chicken on a bed of lettuce and the leaves were brown. When telling the waitress she argued that's how it came out of the bag with no apologies. When asked why the chef didn't check the lettuce first she just walked off. Won't eat there again.

We booked a table for about 14 of us which was reserved for us but to my disappointment there was not a lot of food to choose from they had run out of a lot of things it is a busy pud which is understandable but should have thought about it

Called in for a couple of quick drinks before attending The Nuffield Theatre .It's clean and tidy and the staff are very friendly . The drinks were very reasonably priced and it reminded us of a Wetherspoons , which is not a bad thing when you are not after a fine dining experience .As it was a very warm evening we sat outside which is very close to the main road .

Well I was a regular customer to a degree but today that all changed there was a new obnoxious manager there who decided to pounce on us before we were even seated.. she told me to remove my son from the slot machine which may I add he’s 2 can’t really reach the buttons and definitely not big enough to put any coins in the slot. She could see we were just getting highchairs for the table and getting everyone’s coats removed but still she insisted then a fellow member of staff decided it was a great idea to physically try to move him from where he was stood. When I told her he was doing no harm she said he was promoting gambling and would be fined if a police officer came in. I’m sorry but he is not big enough to properly reach the buttons let alone the coin slot and he doesn’t have any money of his own to gamble with so under no circumstance was he gambling. She clearly was having a issue and needs to resolve this issue. To a child of 2 a fruit machine is pretty lights they don’t know what it’s for or how to use it!!! I’d definitely advise never go here they are rude and talk to you like your stupid even though she was the one who clearly had issues firstly pouncing on customers then trying to man handle a small child followed by rude customer service and ridiculous behaviour clearly not a child friendly pub after all!!!! Disgusted with the service today.

We visited Spitfire on Friday 5 April with friends for food, drinks and to watch football (Southampton v Liverpool). However at approximately 8.45pm the DJ arrived and we were then informed we had to move from our seats so he could prepare for his session.

Came here today for a spot of lunch with my siblings. The service was quick and the bar staff was very helpful with food requests.

No se trata de una buena comida, pero si quieres comer algo barato, no te quedes sin comer. Hay una buena opción de menú y la comida llegó sin esperar demasiado y nuestra orden fue correcta. La comida estaba bien, no era deliciosa, pero tampoco era horrible y ¡a muy buen precio!

Popped in for a quick drink and decided to use the toilet first. Had a member of staff stand outside the toilet shouting at me to come out as the toilets were for customers only. I explained I would be down shortly to buy a drink when he threatened to open the door if I didn't come out. Disgusting behaviour.

We popped in for food, I first thought it was a bit like Wetherspoons but unfortunately the food wasn’t. We both had gammon and change the chips for a baked potato. The food was a bit slow in coming. The gammon was cooked well but the potatoes were a bit dry and the peas were like pellets. The gammon came with the smallest pineapple slice I’ve ever seen and a hard fried egg. All in all not bad but needs improvement. On the plus side they had good beers on.

There’s only 3 of us here, the pub is near enough empty and our food is taking really long around 30 minutes for 2 burgers and a macaroni cheese. How hard can it be

Myself and couple of my friends went to have lunch, the cheese and bacon burger was okay in taste but presentation need to be improve and when my friend order large latte, the bartender say they only do it regular size when it clearly say on the meau "go large for extra 30p"

The pub atmosphere is usually noisy on account of the many big TV screens showing football, rugby, and other sports. So it's good place to go for a drink with friends at watch a match. It's not so good for a quite wind-down and chat. I had a good white wine there recently, but don't bother with the coffee.

The food was nice for the price and the service was very mixed. One really nice waiter and one really rude waitress. Would go back again for a cheap meal out with friends

Take ear defenders - loads of speakers pumping out loud music. Drinks ok if you can get served. Horrible experience. I am too old possibly.

We waited two hours for food one Saturday, I wouldn't mind but I was only having a toasted sandwich. We did get our money back. The food eventually turned up but it was too late, I was no longer hungry.

It was nice to visit this lovely English pub and have a pint or two. We also enjoyed some pub food. The atmosphere is very nice and cosy.

Hace poco estuvimos en Southampton y fuimos a Spitfire a cenar. Las comidas se sirven con prontitud y eran muy buenos. Ambos disfrutamos de nuestras comidas, especialmente el pescado y las patatas fritas.

Pedí 4 Gin y Tonics, todos se sirvieron en j 2 o vasos. No tenían cal como viene el viernes. Luego encontró 4 trozos de cal que parecían del viernes anterior. Personal no entrenado que trabaja sin vasos ni fruta. Evita este pub. Debes estar avergonzado.

Not much to get excited about in this pub. Everything is average. Clientele has seen better days. Staff is friendly though.

I popped into the Spitfire again today and just had to pass on the feedback of my visit. Every time I visit I am warmly welcomed and always have fantastic service from the members of staff. Again I bumped into Julia today and she was lovely and smiley. The atmosphere was nice around lunchtime and was perfect to enjoy a simple but good meal. Julia once again was the highlight of my visit and this time I DID leave her a tip! Great job again! Nevertheless I'll be back on my next trip to Southampton to catch the manager to give my feedback in person. :-)

Called in as I was walking past . Was a great selection of drinks , my food was piping hot and fast service ! Clientele when I was in seemed to be biker/ rock crowd which made for a friendly atmosphere ! Great place for a drink and good basic food

We had 1 night in Southampton before our cruise so 8 of us thought a UK pub experience watching football would be a good lead in for our adventure. We called ahead and Robert was very accommodating. He was ready for us when we arrived. Lots of beer options. Self serve at bar like most UK pubs. Food was good but we didn't expect great in a pub. Service a bit slow likely due to big crowd.

Had drinks with family and some ex family but was nice drinks. Food looked nice but didn't have time as was my daughter's graduation

Visited here mid after noon Saturday just before the world cup match between France and Argentina started.....We had been shopping so popped in for a quick snack and a few drinks to cool us down.....It was quite busy as one would expect so we had to wait a little longer for our food but nothing untowards.....The air-conditioning seemed to be rather erratic but things weren't too uncomfortable....That was until the football was switched on and the volume of the commentary was set far too loud...It seemed to take ages to be turned down and even then it was too loud for us all....Don't get me wrong I love watching football but the volume should be controlled more.....Because of this I've only rated it a three. Not a bad Wetherspoon pub but not the best I've frequented......Could do better......By the way....food and drink was excellent as was the service we recieved.

come here often as it is cheap and close to the university. sometimes the wraps arent cooked in the middle and taste almost frozen. can get student discount here on food.

My son and his mate were at the bar approximately 2weeks ago. My son said he had a sore throat and had trouble speaking out loud. I think it was the assistant manager that made a very inappropriate comment.

My wife and I stayed in Southampton 20-22/04/2018, Sunday morning we visited the weatherspoons venue (spitfire) for breakfast before catching our train home. Luckily we had two hours for the train. On ordering we were told 30 minutes wait on food, a guy with his two children ordered ahead of ours. The place was not very busy possibly 15 couples aprox, two chefs were on the breakfast meals supply. After 55 minutes ours arrived and was not that hot, several customers did complain and sent them back. However the guy with the two young children got his after us and my wife and I was amazed they had only ordered 3 bacon sandwiches (55 minutes really ? ), When next in Southampton im afraid we will go elsewhere. I would also add that one area of the spitfire was roped off, so as you can understand not that busy. The manager did go around apologizing but i think a review of staff performances required not apologies

I visited here today with a few of my friends. We ordered sporadically, 3x mixed grills; 1 burger; 1 BBQ hunters chicken and 1 chilli con carne.

This place has a friendly atmosphere at all times. Children are welcome and Football fans (home only) behave on match days. Since my last review they have changed managers and kitchen staff. This has had some impact on the running of the business and people...

Average pub with not too many seats to watch the football despite its size. I enjoyed ribs and halumi with my bear but my partner wasn't happy with chicken and calamari. Good prices.

In all the years we have been eating out we have never waited so long for food to be served. The food was ordered at 12.35pm and eventually brought to the table at 2pm. Half an hour earlier we had asked for a refund, which...

Despite the enormous amount of people requiring service the staff took up the challenge and did their job with graceful professionalism. Especially James, who on his first day behind the bar, managed to do a sterling job.

First ever visit to the spitfire, and I must say I'm impressed. The pub was warm and welcoming a great overall atmosphere, for the most part the staff were very friendly and helpful, they seemed to enjoy their jobs.. The cocktails were lush, at this point in time I can't comment on the food, but I intend to visit again so shall definitely be giving the food a go. Only downside to the overall, fantasic and clean pub is that the ladies toilets need some attention, as there are broken toilets seats... Definitely worth a visit, even if its just for the friendly staff.

On our first ever visit to Southampton and after walking around all day decided to have a meal here. First impressions wasn’t that great, tables needed clearing from plates and glasses. Decided to stay as so hungry. The menu had a decent choice and reasonable prices. Hubby had cod and chips and I had sweet and sour chicken. The bar staff were busy talking to one another so took longer to get served. The food quickly arrived. Hubby said there was more batter than fish. Mine was ok. Bit bewildered why it was chicken in breadcrumbs not just chicken? It was quite tasty. Portion size good and the food was hot.

Great section of beer and very friendly staff. Possibly the cheapest bar in town. Will use again if in the area

I had my first visit to the spitfire today. I had a fantastic experience and would definitely return again. I was recommended the Katsu chicken and sweat and sour chicken (which was great value for money) after being helped by staff member Julia behind the bar. She was very helpful to me, was patient and answered all my questions with a smile - a great asset to the team. Wish I had a chance to tip her and would be back for the same level of service in a heartbeat! :-)

I have visited the Spitfire every week for the past couple of years. It's been consistent in it's service, food, value for money and cleanliness - it's definitely somewhere I'd recommend. Even when it's busy, the food is served in a good amount of time with the staff being very accommodating, friendly and helpful (especially Mark!)

I used to eat here regularly and always found the food to be good and the staff helpful. However the now have an older east European bar maid who feels its her position to make personal comments about customers and be generally rude. No problem, plenty of other pubs in the area.

Large spacious premises with a good selection of ales. Went on a Tuesday evening and did tend to be a student venue.

Went to the Spitfire for an evening meal, two adults and two teens. Good atmosphere considering it was a relatively early Thursday evening and great service from young blonde lady behind the bar.

Spitfire is a good place for drinking beers and watching the TV. Nowadays I require more than that though, even from a pub. Not being able to order decent salad is not good with me. Atmosphere overall before a home game was lame.

Went again for lunch 2 meals and drinks for 14.95 food was again really tasty and we were served quickly even though it was really busy had chocolate fudge cake and was huge we will be back great value

This is very much a value sports TV pub showing the football etc. The food is very average and the prices reflect this. Staff are friendly and food is served promptly.

I crossed the threshold here. Lovely pub when it first opened but not as smart and tidy as it was back then. Very noisy, football fans have left but seemingly security is still needed on door! My beer not great, and expensive (London Pride) One redeeming feature, lovely member of staff remembered me, and made me feel welcome in an otherwise cold atmosphere. Angelica, well done

I used to go to Whetherspoons but went here for a change. Really nice decoration and seating. Had a breakfast with my brother. Full breakfast and porridge (I had the porridge). Really nice creamy porridge with two packs of Nutella (I love Nutella) and nice coffee. I will be going again next time I am in Southampton and will try the lunch/dinners.

We went in here because my husband wanted to watch the football, i have to say the bar is very good for that. When i tried to order food i enquired as to what on the menu was suitable for someone with coeliac disease - gluten free. The lady behind the bar said she would ask the chef, she returned telling me that nothing on the menu was suitable. I found this very disappointing and sadly won't be returning. The food my husband had was of a reasonable standard and was served very promptly.

Came here for lunch even though it was busy we were served quickly we had Mac and cheese sausage and mash and toastie and chips, which with drinks came to £18.00 the food was really tasty and such good value will definitely come here again

A very popular bar in the city centre excellent for watching live football with a good choice of ales and deals on cocktails. Good pub food and friendly staff very busy when Saints play at home.

Always come here if I'm in town alone or to meet a friend.Easy to get served (Wetherspoon chaos.) Staff friendly and 'on the ball.' (Wetherspoon staff and bar queues disorganised.) Tables clean (Wetherspoon sticky.) Food good. Prices only slightly above Wetherspoon.

The only pub in southampton that actually gets involved on match day... staff are a friendly especially mark... cant wait for the season are you ready for us.. COYR

I go there every month with my friend. Usually we are very pleased with the service and food.Today when we got there all seemed the same.until my friend went upstairs to the toilet and came straight back down. There was new floor being laid. No notice even to stop my friend going upstairs.the only toilet in the whole pub was the disabled toilet.I have to use it as I am partially sighted and have had a stroke.it is bad enough having to share it with men who generally find putting the seat down too difficult and can't aim.If we hadn't ordered Our meal by then we would have gone elsewhere.When I complained to the manager he gave me a lot of waffle about their long opening hours etc. not my problem. There should have been a notice so I had the choice to go elsewhere. My guess is that is why there wasn't one.
