Very convenient well run cafe part of a large antique shop.Good parking outside. Good menu by no means extensive but well put together including lovely vegan breakfast. Sandwiches looked visibly fresh & appealing. Space is quite limited & service attentive, not overbearing. That bit pricey. Visit spoilt by the noise. Two of us sat (sadly) near to six/eight very noisy guests all talking over one another.Unbearable so much so that family short distance away got up & left & who could blame them

Well hidden but very nice when you get there. The breakfasts were lovely - high quality produce in generous portions, served well on hot plates. It did take quite a long time for breakfast to arrive - they could probably turn the tables over much more quickly. But for Sunday brunch we weren't too bothered. It is quite noisy.

Popped in for coffee and cake Sunday pm. Not much choice of cake so husband asked if they did toasted teacake to which young server said yes. Didn't think cake brilliant and husbands came as 2 slices of a fruit slab of something with butter, definitely not a teacake and he wasn't impressed eating it. We did mention paying that it was not teacake and young man just said he didn't know! Over £16 so won't return. Shame as lovely character set up

Gentleman who took our order apparently did not understand our simple order of tea, croissant with jam and butter and a toasted teacake. Long wait for a cold hard croissant minus butter and jam - we rejected that. A random staff member then brought us 4 slices of unordered cake followed by 2 more slices of unordered cake (which my hungry friend accepted). I explained that as a diabetic I couldn't eat cake, hence the order of a tea-cake - at this stage told they don't do tea-cakes! Lucky thing my blood sugar levels were still OK after sitting waiting for 20 minutes. A young lady said we would only be charged for the tea .. I would rather be given accurate information in the first place so we could have gone elsewhere. What a pity .. great location and have enjoyed previous visits but at a bare minimum one expects staff to be familiar with the menus and able to communicate.

Chose this little cafe thinking it was really special to have a birthday lunch with a friend. Garden was pretty but the interior was just a regular cafe that smelt of fish. We both had poached eggs, smoked salmon and avocado on sour dough most cafe prices charge between £8-12 for this dish so very over priced at £14.95. The bread was rock hard in-fact I couldn’t cut it, the waitress asked if it was ok and I pointed out that I was unable to cut the bread and she laughed and said it was due to it being toasted and she should have given me a steak knife!!! Really disappointing won’t be returning.

I hate to give this review as I’ve loved and visited this cafe for the last 8 years. It’s a lovely Sunday past time, breakfast there and then spending time at the antique store. It’s been going downhill for some time but after covid I think I won’t be visiting. Service it’s still fine but the menu and prices have gone haywire. We paid £14 for a breakfast that made the cheap options in supermarkets cafes look gourmet. You pay £15 for a beautiful breakfast in London not for a subpar one in a village in Hampshire. It was a breakfast with thin cardboard white bread, 1 slice to be exact. We never never given any options and judging by other breakfasts that we saw I suspect there was none. Lukewarm orange liquid with a few beans in it which looked worst than the economy version of a supermarket baked beans, A tasteless unripe tomato that was threatened under the grill, an overcooked egg that looked boiled, (no option was given) and the grisliest bacon. I know covid has reduced the heads and margins are tight but that was terrible. I don’t think it would cost much to offer a thicker slice of bread, even if that was cheap white bread. Considering every cafe now has granary, brown, GF and sourdough options, asking for a thicker slice is not much and they need to get on with the times. Some better quality items like a better tomato or at least to cook that tomato a bit longer wouldn’t go amiss. Other people in my party had food but it was no better but at least we didn’t feel mugged like with the breakfast. It’s a shame to have turned such a lovely cafe to an overpriced hot mess.

Nice food but overpriced for what it is and very slow service. When we arrived, we were told to seat ourselves which we did and then waited while the waitress cleaned many other tables before Ben approaching us with a menu. It then took a long time of trying to catch someone’s attention before we were served. Our drinks came quite quickly but the food took quite a while. Once we had finished, we would have liked to order additional items but had to again try to attract attention on a number of occasions and once we did, we waited another 15-20mins and in the end asked for the bill without the extra items. It’s a shame as it’s a nice cafe, but the food is expensive and the service just isn’t up to the standard you would expect. We won’t be rushing back.

Popped in for a quick bite with a friend and found the ‘lite’ offerings very light indeed so opted for their Club Sandwich which I found very dry and not very appetising, it did come with an apology of a salad with some dressing which I used to moisten the sandwich! They do other things such as toasted tea cakes but they don’t appear on the menu for some reason so you have to be in the know to order them, my friend was ‘in the know’! All in all a couple of Club’s a tea cake, two teas and a soft drink came to over £32 and that, to my mind, was excessive but perhaps it’s just because I have not lived in ‘up county’ Hampshire for many many years!

We've tried to visit this cafe a couple of times for breakfast but have never been able to get a table on walk-in. I'm not sure if you can reserve but I would definitely recommend doing so if you're desperate to go! On our last visit we were able to get a table outside, we were inundated with wasps which was not the most pleasant of experiences, but the courtyard itself is really pretty and a nice atmosphere. The food was okay, not quite as good as I was expecting and slightly overpriced. I dont think we will be in a rush to return but nice maybe just to stop for a coffee.

My partner and I attended late morning on Tuesday gone and took our 10 week old daughter with us. The staff were very welcoming despite it not being the easiest spot to navigate with a pram. Its was the food that took us very pleasantly surprised. My partner's full English was quite expensive at £14 but the sausage and bacon especially were very good. I assume it was locally sourced which is always a plus.My own poached eggs, avocado and smoked salmon on sourdough was excellent and of a very hearty size. It really was delicious. We both took away one of their cakes from the display cabinet that wouldn't look out of place in a coffee house in Vienna. We shall look to return soon and try something new on the menu!

We stopped for a breakfast with friends.Really disappointing, as previously I’ve had a nice lunch here.I had poached eggs on toast with with sausages. Toast overcooked/borderline burnt, sausages clearly microwaved with very tough skins and dry insides. Eggs possibly microwaved too and overcooked with hard Yolks. Seriously poor for the price charged. My friend had eggs florentine and hollandaise sauce very bland. Fresh mint tea (£2.50) was provided with a mint tea bag seemingly because there was so little fresh mint in there to actually flavour the water.Don’t bother for breakfast, such a shame for a nice cafe who are clearly cutting corners.

We stumbled upon this place earlier this year and enjoyed a spot of lunch on a Saturday afternoon.Today I returned - again for lunch on a Saturday - but it was a very poor experience.I was on my own today, and on arrival asked if I could have a table in the quieter part of the cafe, where there appeared to be several tables for two. I was informed they were all reserved, so I reluctantly accepted a table in the very noisy main part of the cafe.I ordered the Roasted Butternut Squash & Sumac Cous Cous Salad, but sadly it was very substandard. I had only just started eating the dish when the manager called by my table to ask how everything was. I told him it was fine - well, it was at that point. The salad sounds like it should be packed full of flavour, with beetroot, pumpkin seeds, toasted almonds, mint, spring onion, pomegranate and beetroot dressing.Firstly, the roast squash was not obviously roasted - there was absolutely no colour on the flesh. It was cooked, but only just, and it didn't have any of that caramelisation you usually get with roast squash.Secondly, I detected no mint, there was absolutely NO spring onion, perhaps a teaspoon of pomegranate seeds, and the beetroot dressing was almost tasteless.Worst of all, at least a 20 per cent of the salad leaves were past their prime and had gone black and slimy.I should probably have attempted to call somebody over and complained, but it was quite busy and so noisy, and I only realised that ingredients were missing as I was about halfway through - I kept thinking, 'Wow, this is bland!'When the waitress came to take my plate away she asked how it was, and I told her it was bland, plus I pointed to the pile of slimy leaves I'd pulled to one side, and said the salad was not fresh. She apologised and promised to pass on my feedback to the kitchen.I waited perhaps a further five minutes to see if anybody would return and question me about the dish, or apologise, or offer me a free drink or coffee etc. Nobody did. I couldn't attract anybody's attention to get my bill so I stood up and walked down to the till area.So I ended up paying £12 for a really substandard salad in an unpleasantly noisy environment. I'm afraid I can't recommend this venue.

3rd visit now and have to say, only 1 member of staff has ever made us feel welcome (as a family) children's menu is standard but the sides were forgotten and no apologise made. Quality of food is good but not on par with the prices HOWEVER this is Hartley wintney! The coffee is fabulous and the cakes always look beautiful, I think this place is def more suited to couples and friends rather than families unfortunately

Food ok but a bit noisy and quite expensive for what you get. Not very welcoming and has a rather impersonal feel

Ordered the £10 breakfast - they wouldn’t allow you to change items - 2 slices of toast not included (extra £3). Items were missing off the order (they didn’t charge in the end). The food was good and hot.

A lovely setting with charming and friendly staff. Food is delicious and nothing is too much trouble. I regularly meet friends for coffee and often go there for breakfast too. Sylvia one of the staff is particularly delightful.

Enjoyed lunch at this attractive cafe though sadly had to sit inside due to the weather. The waiting staff were very friendly and accommodating as my son is on a gluten and dairy free diet. They were happy to supply details on how the food is prepared to order. Really enjoyed the lemon prawn wrap and my son had a Club sandwich on gluten free bread which he said tasted as good as 'normal' bread. The coffee was very good too.

Set in an attractive garden behind the high street shops, this hidden gem is a clean, pleasant place to relax which serves a very good coffee accompanied by a good selection of cakes. Well worth a visit.

Mooching in Hartley Wintney and decided on lunch too. I have brought many friends and family for a cuppa and cake when we've walked to the village. Been happy with that. So ...today's lunch. Hmmmm. My daughter had the Cajun burger which was to be in a ciabatta bun and with skin on fries. No skin on the chips and it was a brioche bun. She also sad the chicken just tasted char grilled....not much Cajun. We did mention this when we paid ... were told ciabatta buns were too hide......we'll change the menu then! I hate brioche so I would not have been happy. My daughter ate it but was disappointed. We mentioned the fries... were told they were skin on...wish I'd taken a photo as I know skin on when I see it. I had the Asian platter. It was ok.... the satay chicken needs the peanut sauce, I asked for some and it was brought. I don't know. £41 for lunch, seems a lot when I went away feeling...... meh.

Dreadful service! No welcome, no offer of highchair! Given a food menu but when I tried to order at 11:55 was told couldn't order food until 12, so why wasn't that explained when I was given the menu 10 mins prior! No apology just a blunt statement! Made me feel as if they were doing me a favour!! Used to love popping in here for coffee or lunch but never again, cancelled coffee order and walked out - they don't deserve the custom!

If you would like to go somewhere where you are ignored, have to ask for menus, ask for drinks without being offered, get up from the table to order your food because you are being ignored, have to asked for the bill when the meal comes because the food has taken so long your two hour car park is about to run out and then still no-one comes to take the payment after explain why you need the bill urgently then this is the place for you. I have to say the food tastes amazing but we had to eat it in 5 minutes to get back to the car so we did not get clamped. Not the relaxing lunch with a friend I was hoping for. Sadly wont be visiting again.

We had a family 'event' at the Courtyard and it was a great success. The organisation and service were excellent, the food was superb and the staff could not have been more helpful and friendly

Having been before and loved the atmosphere I went here for breakfast with my mother and daughters. We were ignored for the first ten minutes of being there, eventually had to go in search of menus and request someone to take our order. It turned out to be breakfast by installments; one meal arrived, followed five minutes later by two drinks and a request to change my daughter's order as there were no more croissants. Two more drinks and two more meals arrived five minutes after that with the news she couldn't have a pain au chocolate either, a pecan slice eventually arrived. No apology, explanation or indication that this is unusual. After a further 20 minutes - my daughter had finished her cooked breakfast, I'd finished a pot of tea - we asked if the rest was on its way, the waitress asked us what we were still waiting for! After a further ten minutes I found the manager who again asked what we had ordered. Ten minutes later the final items arrived. The manageress, seeing my daughter now had no drink to go with her food, offered her a glass of water, then went off to take orders from two other tables before returning with a lukewarm glass of tapwater. She then stood and chatted to her friends who had arrived long after we had placed our order and we're now leaving having ordered, eaten and paid for their meal! My other daughter's yogurt (yes, she waited nearly an hour for a YOGHURT!) arrived without a spoon and I was given a VERY dirty look when I went to ask for one. To be fair, the food was good (except for granola that hurt my jaw it was so chewy) and all of our drinks and the late food were taken off the bill but without apology and we would have much rather have had a relaxed breakfast together. There are other cafes in the village so we won't be bothering with this one again - unless we hear it's under new management!

I use this cafe regularly. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They take particular care of people with particular needs. The filter coffee is great, and the staff ensure that brew is fresh . The food generally is good, but Starbucks HQ has an irritating habit of withdrawing my favourites. Still, this remains my morning cafe of choice.
