Met up with friends and overall the meal was very good and we were made to feel very welcome and not rushed.

Thanks to all for your excellent hospitality over Christmas,superb usual friendly service and young staff ever helpful as usual , under new management the pub has improved leaps and bounds - bravo !

Edited to add: Thank you Oatsheaf for your response. As you can see from the receipt, service charge was indeed added to the bill. We visited on Christmas Day. The atmosphere was lovely and it was a real treat to go out on Christmas Day. We very much appreciate all the staff who worked hard on the day. The event was at huge expense though so I feel it’s important to let you know where the experience could have been better. There were candles on the table but when I asked the waiter about them he said he couldn’t light them as he didn’t have any matches, very strange… perhaps someone could’ve popped to the petrol station to pick up some matches? Both rounds of drinks we ordered took quite a while to get to us. The starters came out before our bread had been finished. The mushroom risotto was dry and tasteless. The pastry on the beef wellington was soggy. The chocolate bomb did not melt when the hot sauce was poured over. More effort could have been made to source gluten free pigs in blankets and stuffing (widely available). Whilst all of this didn’t necessarily detract from the experience I completely object to a compulsory 10% service charge being added to the bill. The last thing I was going to do was complain about this and have it taken off which would have caused me much embarrassment in front of my family and other guests. I absolutely expect that staff wages should be included in the very expensive cost of the meal. I don’t mind spending the money on a special occasion but don’t like extras being sprung on me. For this reason I don’t believe the cost (including service charge) of the, slightly imperfect, meal was worth it and I will be trying the Foresters next year. Note : I was advised about the service charge prior to the event but after I had already paid for the meal in advance.

Over priced and undersized food. Very slow service. Kids cheeseburgers came without cheese. Had to repeatedly remind/ask for our drinks and basic condiments. Sad as used to be a good pub/restaurant. Won't be eating here again.

Christmas Day - Really Enjoyed the food, good atmosphere, staff / service was really good. Considering how busy it was, no matter what you needed, someone was close by. Thanks for making, & being part of our Christmas Day.

Great pub, good for events and with nice back garden.

We had a girls night out last Saturday and it was just perfect. It was busy at the bar and still the staff managed it so well, we didn’t have to wait too long. We must single out one of your team, Holly, she seemed at ease and despite being super busy served each customer in turn, exactly how a bar should be run; she really was great, all smiles and super helpful when we couldn’t decide on what wine to buy. (Btw it was lovely) Well done Oatsheaf !

The food was delicious, we were a table Of 15, all meals were hot and tasty. I had the mackerel to start, sea bass fillet and crème brûlée, every dish was excellent. We were able order drinks separately to the table via the QR code which was handy for such a big thirsty table. We came several years ago for our festive meal and we were happy to return .

Good food, good service, nice staff, well decorated ambience. I ate the cod and the calamari starter. Both were delicious.

Really great pub and the staff were really attentive. We had our pre and post work Christmas party drinks here. Special shout out goes to Holly behind the bar for serving us our drinks. Nothing was too much of a problem and was always served with a warm and welcoming smile. Thanks for a great night :-)

Went to the oatsheef for a Christmas get together. Had an amazing time. Staff were really friendly and knowledgeable. Lou the Manager was great, heaps of fun and really looked after us! Great night!

We visited the Oatsheaf on 30/11 for a work Christmas meal and drinks, 20+ of us. The staff couldn’t have been more attentive, friendly and welcoming, even though the rest of the pub was heaving on a payday weekend! We were very well looked after. We pre-ordered food which all came out on time, hot and the staff knew who was having what. Brilliant service, thank you to the team!

Amazing food and great organisation for a large table of 18 for my birthday celebrations. Lou, Adam and Lily in particular were extremely friendly and helpful.

Fabulous early festive dinner! Enjoyed the festive Menu served by the lovely Lily, very attentive and efficient, nothing was too much trouble! Food and drink exceptional! Thoroughly recommend and will be back! Thank you!

Food was good, better than standard chain pub food. There is parking but you need to enter your number plate into a table on the bar.

Well presented tasty food. Extensive menu with varied options to suit all tastes. Their lunchtime menu with a two or three course option, is great value. The goats cheese, beetroot and pear starter is wonderful. The calamari was heavily seasoned but suitably crispy. The cod and chorizo fishcakes had a lovely poached egg on top. The dish is very tasty but I just think it's a little too funky and rich to be a main. I would much rather they were available as a small starter. Good ambience, great service. Can't wait to return .

Service was very good, attentive friendly bar staff, but we were seriously unimpressed with the food. We may have just been unlucky but based on this experience I couldn't recommend eating here.

I visit the Oatsheaf every time I come to Fleet, U.K. The food and service is always fantastic. Helen looked after me for my dinner this evening and she was lovely. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Front of house lady absolutely brilliant, food was possibly the worst I've ever had in my life everything was deep fat fried and sodden in fat truly disgusting, my 18.95 chicken burger was black completely burnt chips were so hard and burnt unpalatable same with my wife's cod and chips, you can tell the front of house lady was used to this. The chef was just a terrible cook, an older gentleman that works behind the bar was very rude and quite patronising , I wish me and my wife walked out then tbh

I love the Oatsheaf, relaxed friendly atmosphere and the food is good too. Large garden area if you want to sit outside. It is the perfect `local' for us as have not long moved to Fleet. We will be back!

Delicious food and brilliant cocktails especially the old fashioned and negroni. A very friendly and efficient team.

Unfortunately our food experience was poor, tough, chewy pork belly and a very small piece, the half roast chicken was just a leg/thigh (this meal was for a man's and he was still hungry after!). The young waitresses tried hard but a bit more training or supervision would improve the service. we had a lovely drink in the garden beforehand but sadly the poor food means I won't return for a meal. Not good value.

We had the pleasure of watching the England matches at The Oatsheaf this year and we just wanted to say Simon, Graeme and all the staff put on fantastic evenings of entertainment during the tournament and somewhere we would love to watch sporting events in the future. It was so well managed, fast efficient service at the bar or if ordering on the app and a lovely vibe and atmosphere. Nothing was too much trouble and everyone had a great time in lovely surroundings. Thank you to all the staff at The Oatsheaf.

Excellent pub with a lovely garden. Good quality and well kept beers and wines, with super service from the attentive and professional bar staff. Also a particular shout out for Graham Turner. He’s old school, no nonsense and extremely high standards reminiscent of bygone days in public houses. Keep up the great work boys and girls 👏👏

By far the nicest place in Fleet to have a drink, the service is brilliant and the drinks are reasonably priced and always very nice.

We had a fantastic time, celebrating birthday with friends. Relaxed atmosphere in a nice private area which is not isolated from the bar, & atmosphere. The staff were so friendly and couldn’t have done more. Great service striking a perfect balance of being nicely attentive but not over fusing. Simon was an excellent host & we felt looked after. The food was good quality, served at a nice pace beautifully presented.

We had lunch here last week. Simon and Helen provided wonderful, friendly service. The food was great. Atmosphere ver pleasant and relaxing, the only pub for miles where there actually is an atmosphere. Well done Oatsheaf team, you tick all the boxes. Would highly recommend.

We went there for my 60th and was a large party, the staff food and atmosphere were excellent, Simon and his team was amazing and made our evening with their excellent service , will definitely be going back .

Had a fabulous lunch with some friends today. Service was really friendly and prompt. Food was outstanding…..a really good menu to choose from. Definitely returning!

A great pub in Fleet and perfect for a summers evening with the garden. Our favourite pub here and we’d absolutely go again. Only thing holding it back is that it’s slightly more expensive than the other pubs and the food we had wasn’t that special. Nice enough.

A great place to meet up and enjoy some good food and nice staff, who were friendly and helpful. The pork belly with scallops delicious as was the duck noodle salad.

Only popped in here for a drink before dinner. A nice large pub with friendly staff. Not sure though how for 2 pints, a small non alcoholic peroni and a pint of coke it can be close to £25, ridiculous!

I am a vegan and the celariac steak was the most beautiful meal I have eaten in a long time and the best vegan meal I have eaten in a restaurant. Better still the vegan dessert (poached pear) was sublime! I was pleasantly surprised. The food came at a timely pace and the service was great too. This is the first time I have ever reviewed but felt it worthy to take the time to share my experience.

We have just been to the restaurant for a date night. We have always had a good meal and have enjoyed the atmosphere of the pub. The food was very disappointing tonight. I had the fish and chips and the whole dish was extremely salty. For some strange reason the batter was covered in course salt. To add to this there was a stag party in and they were extremely noisy so we couldn’t hear each other talk. All for people enjoying themselves but maybe the party should have been at the far end away from the dinners. Disappointed..

Fish and chips , unfortunately fish was stale and not fresh , there wasn’t a cover for the tartare sauce pot .. just cling film wrap and minted pea purée was missing .🙄

Can't fault this place at all. Except if you go for the pork belly... You don't get a crackled skin, but still lovely.

We literally just stopped for a drink and chips, it was delicious the pub was very clean and quiet environment I guess because the time of day we was there. Will definitely be visiting again for a nice romantic meal.

This used to be my local and I loved it here. We visited again recently and it did not disappoint. The food, service and atmosphere is incredible. The food and drinks menu both have plenty of variety and is good value for money.

Beware of parking! We had a great sunday lunch here. Possibly due to having just ran the Fleet half marathon and the pub being very busy as a result of this, we missed the signs stating that it's a pay and display car park! We unfortunately received a parking notice 2 weeks later. I rang up the pub and spoke with Simon who managed to cancel the ticket as we provided proof of purchase. Well handled. Good experience overall, thank you!

I went here for my grandmother’s 88th birthday for a family meal on the 28th of February. An excellent location, and not too far from home!

Having been in bar area sat at our table with no reservation on it, from 5pm and buying drinks, was ask to vacate it at 6.45 as it was now reserved from 7pm and chucked a reservation on it!! A local but obviously not as regular a someone else and was turf off table at a whim, nice!!!

Really great service, well priced food and drink... food was tasty and came promptly... rather limited ale/bitter selection, but other than that we'll definitely be back.

A real mixed experience. The food was shockingly bad but the foh staff were absolutely brilliant. Definitely the worst roast dinner I have eaten (or not) anaemic roasties, dry cardboard yorkshires, fatty chargrilled beef definitely not sliced off a roast joint. Pudding (crumble) was ok but not the flavour on the menu - should’ve been apple and damson and it was strawberry and raspberry, Luke warm and bland. Very much felt like we were served what was left in a bare kitchen on a Sunday evening, but having booked for a Mother’s Day dinner they should’ve been prepared. They set the menu after all. The serving staff were gorgeous though, so polite, warm, friendly, and attentive.
