My brother & I decided to have a catch up chat with lunch & decided to go to the Hunters Inn. We know the Hunters Inn due to living in the area for many & he still does. On entry the staff where friendly & welcoming, we ordered drinks & grabbed the menus. Menus where clear with a good range of pub meals. We ordered waited about 20mins which gave time to chat. On the arrival of the food we were both pleasantly surprised of large to meal was for the low cost of them both being below £12. The food was hot, tasty, homemade & well presented, I have say that my fish & chips was probably the best & tastest if had for sometime from a pub or chip shop. I've been very critical of valve money & quality of meals out resently, but the Hunters Inn has definitely excelled on both of those criteria. Keep it up will definitely return when back in the area well done.

A gorgeous village pub, turned into a money making eatery. Absolutely packed, so my review will make no difference to their profits. However, for those who would feel ripped off for paying £26 for the tiniest pork chop with a dollop of apple sauce (literally nothing else on the plate), then please avoid. The tiny pork chop was cooked really well and was delicious, but £26? No, no, no! We’ll leave this one for the customers who have more money than sense. Service was pleasant and the tiny chop was tasty, but I’ll cook my own next time and give the monetary difference to charity 😊

I'd rang in the week before the Saturday (19th Oct) lunchtime, and pre-booked a table for our party of 13, and I said we needed 2 high-chairs. (How nice it was to ring and book a table verbally, instead of booking on-line.) On the day, we arrived to find 3 tables pushed together for us, and all was good, though no high-chairs, which the staff member got sorted fast. We arrived in a bit of a disjointed way (an initial 5, then a 3, then a 5), but this caused no problem, and we had drinks on tab. Our meal experience was really very good, with good attention by all staff (at bar and at table). The food (we had main and dessert) came in good time, and it was delicious. All in our party thought their main course was excellent, being really flavoursome. I had the cottage pie, it was delightful, as was my partner's pork rump steak. Yes, prices were a couple of pounds more per plate for mains, but definitely worth it. At no time were we hurried along, or unduly hassled, and we ended up spending much of a great Saturday afternoon there. Our 7yo in the party enjoyed the wooden play apparatus outside, and I loved the Exmoor ales! Lastly, how refreshing to have no service charge automatically added, and allow customers to decide. We'd never eaten there before, but we will again!

I had not been in the Bell since a Black tie New Year’s Eve party in 1970, when it boasted the finest wine cellar in Europe, owned by Gerard Manley Harris. Today’s Bell is somewhat tired by comparison, but the fire in the lounge was welcoming. This was an overnight stay to attend a 100th birthday party four miles away. The bedroom was fine, well appointed and an excellent shower. At breakfast I ordered Eggs Royale, which came with ham and not salmon, but I was in a rush, so I did nothing about it.

Friendly staff and lovely selection of cakes! Popped in to get a bit of work done - nice atmosphere and plenty of hot and cold drink options available. Flapjack was ace! WiFi took a bit of time to connect and table was a little tight for laptop but all in all a lovely small business with friendly staff and a great atmosphere.

Went today just as they opened, ordered one hot chocolate plain, one with cream. Not exceptionally busy. Three members of staff visible, one taking orders, one delivering orders and a young man just making drinks. After 20 minutes asked the young lady delivering to check where our order was. She returned to counter and carried in without enquiring. Another few minutes and what looked like our order was ready but no someone else. So asked for our money back. Dreadfully lax service, Nottingham far superior.

Lovely staff, very attentive. They were great considering it was so busy! Will definitely be returning when I’m back in whitely, my fave place to visit!☺️
