Not anywhere as good as previous visits. Limited choice of draft beer and the Harvey’s was over £5 a pint and I doubt that I received full pints. Tapas Octopus £9:50 very little octopus but burnt garlic. King prawns £9:25 tough prawns with no flavour Not a pleasant experience.

I came in to have dinner with my girlfriend and try that new Venezuelan menu seen online. The food was amazing really enjoyed the starters and the mains, I don't know what they put inside those tequenos, but they were heavenly. The meat was tender and full of flavour. We ordered a couple of starters and some mains and I have to say everything was delicious. Definitely recommend trying! The chef was super friendly which made the whole experience even better. However, I feel like they could have advertised better and provided menus on tables since I wouldn't have found that amazing food if we didn't know beforehand.

We went to watch the football and enjoy a drink. New menu with Venezuelan food. Ordered the burger expecting a big standard but it was anything but! and it was honestly the best burger I have ever eaten. Squashy fresh brioche bun, crispy burger with soft middle. I don’t know what they put in it but there was a sauce and chopped herbs or something but it was delicious. The Venezuelan menu looked lovely and if any of it was as good as the fresh burger then I’d highly recommend. Mixture of tapas, fajita style food and Venezuelan dishes that all sounded interested and mouth watering. Highly recommend trying!

First Friday back post Covid. Could have always been anticlimax, but we came here not knowing that they had a beer garden where we could sit and it was really nice. A nice small chill atmosphere, and we had two girls serving us both who were a great laugh and very kind. Didn’t know this pub had a beer garden before but we will be back soon as it was quality! Jess and Angie were excellent, they had a terrific attitude and great attention to detail! Thanks for a lovely night. (The handsome blonde man isn’t in the photo, I can only apologise)

My friend and I attempted to come in for one drink on a Thursday evening, but we were rudely greeted by a member of staff who put his hand up at us gesturing us to stop which we found very rude considering we just waked in. Next he asked if we had a booking, to which we said no, and afterwards he asked us if we had ID otherwise we cannot come in. My friend and I are 23/ 24 and only wanted to come in for a soft drink. The overall attitude from this member of staff was beyond rude and neither of us has ever experienced such treatment in our lives. I have been to this pub many times before and always thought it was nice, but this has completely put us off the pub, would not recommend unless you enjoy rudeness

This pub could be such a great venue to watch the sport in Reigate, but the manager has a terrible attitude problem and it completely ruins the place. Most people I know avoid the pub unless they are watching sport and even then try to find an alternative. He doesn't have to be friendly on all occasions, but he is regularly rude to the customers and makes them feel unwelcome. Unless the manager sorts out his attitude problem I won't be back.

Having been to this pub a couple of times after work for some drinks I decided to come here for lunch with a friend who had never been before. The barmaid was super welcoming. We didnt realise the kitchen didnt open til midday (the pub opens at 11.30 & we got there at 11.45.) We were happy to wait but our food came out at 12.05....thanks chef! It was a bit quiet, the atmosphere in the evening is a lot livelier! It also gets quite busy! They have a selection of board games etc to play to while away any quiet time though. Decent menu, not expensive at all. We both went for the tuna & cheese melt. It was nice but the toast was just shy of being burned. Will give lunch another go but defo a place to be after work.

We went to this pub for the first time with some friends. A good selection of beers, great food and nice decor. So can highly recommend from that stand point. BUT we were made to feel unwelcome and uncomfortable by the grumpy manager who seemed indifferent to whether we were there or not. No friendly smile, continually glaring at us (as if we were stealing knifes and forks maybe?),and generally grumpy service from him. One of our group even asked the bar lady if we’d done anything to upset him. We spent a fair bit of money in the hour we were there as there were 10 of us eating and drinking. The young lady serving us was lovely, but the Manager needs to go find a job not involving the public. We won’t be in a rush to return.

Plenty choice of white and red wines, fizz and some champagne. "Nothing exceptional" was a view I read below, but - I've eaten tapas in Spain and here - and ultimately it is down to preferences - but the range of flavours, the style of presentation, value for money, and the lovely service (Spanish), I think is actually rather exceptional (for Reigate, at least) .

We were apprehensive about this place at first as it just looks like a regular pub. However, the staff were great and the food was delicious if a little on the pricey side. Although to be honest I'd rather pay a bit more for great tapas than pay regular prices for average food! Will definitely be back and would recommend for a night out with friends. Only let down is as its in a pub it gets a little noisy so not great for a romantic meal for two. Also impressed that they asked about allergies/requirements when booking.

This place has mostly Spanish employees, Spanish cook and the owner's wife is also Spanish, so the tapas do taste authentic and are very nice. Naturally the prices are nothing like spain though! 4 meatballs (albóndigas) = £5.50 for instance. You can order bread from the menu for £3, whilst in Spain you get bread automatically with food, included. Yes, I know we're not in Spain! My suggestion is this though: if people buy 3 tapas or more, bread should be included. It would cost the restaurant next to nothing and it would make the meal feel better value. I would probably go back more often. Anyway, just an idea! Nice place overall and friendly staff.

Having written a poor review many months ago following the refurbishment of this pub, I vowed never to visit it again. However, my head was turned by signs saying it was now serving tapas. The one food Reigate is missing is Tapas following the closure of the tapas bar (now a coffee shop) so I thought I would give it a try. Well all I can say is thank goodness I did and I have been back three times since, as it is just sooo good. The menu isn't extensive but what is on it is good, tasty and reasonably priced. Some of the serving staff are from Spain and are able to give you guidance on what to order. I would really recommend this and am glad that the pub seems to be turning its fortunes around by offering this food, previous to this the food was poor and people seemed go in there just for a drink but now the pub is full of people eating as well and each time we have been in there it has been busy. Service is quick and there are also a good choice of drinks on offer.

The food is delicious and credit to the Spanish chef for serving truly authentic tapas. The menu has plenty of choice and everything we tried was done to perfection. The ham croquetas and tortilla were outstanding. The dishes were brought out over a period of time instead of all at once, giving you plenty of time to enjoy the food while it was hot. The staff were lovely. This is a breath of fresh air, good value and a great place to eat. Weekend evenings can be very busy and noisy but with a great atmosphere, booking is recommended. Felt like a slightly a random choice, yet one based on the recommendation of one of my wife's customers (she's based in Bell Street).First, bear in mind that this is a relatively new operation; so ignore any negative reviews from before, say, Christmas.Second, the venue remains a pub - albeit with half given over to the tapas bar (Pikteo) - so be prepared for that and to share the overall space with others not necessarily there to eat per se.Third: it's really rather good indeed. The young Spanish pair serving were pleasant, efficient and attentive. Without being intrusive, they were there when you wanted them. The food is very good - much better than high street chain offerings, and a good few perhaps better known establishments. Typical tapas, yet with a more authentic style and some with a twist. Good specials too.Drinks-wise: can't comment on the wine, as we stuck with 'pub' drinks - bitter was the ubiquitous and dull Doom (and keg, yet as good as that gets).Value: very good too. Five of us had loads, with repeats, and a few puddings, cheese board, couple of beers, a couple of G&Ts etc. £34 per head, which we didn't think bad at all for the quantity and quality. You could spend that at Pizza Express on the High Street without trying too hard...My default tapas would normally be Las Feuntes in Purley, or Galicia in Croydon and, while they remain more convenient; I would opt for here first - for food and service, if not the room - given the choice.

I visited the Venture Inn with a group of work colleagues for the first time this weekend. It had been recommended and did not disappoint. I am a fan of Tapas, so to find a pub with a Spanish menu not too far from home was a treat. We had reserved an area and were designated a long table with bar stools at one end of the pub, which meant those of our party who wanted to try the Tapas menu could whilst the others drank & chatted. I liked the table/waiter service as it brought a personal touch to the evening. The food was very tasty and I hope to return soon. Recommended for a Friday night out!

Used to love the Thai menu here, but didn't like what followed (inspite of the really good refurbishment of the place). Thought we'd try the new tapas today, and thought is was superb. Liked the focus on table service in the restaurant part with a really good (Spanish) waiter, and the food was excellent. First time was a reasonably busy Wednesday night a few weeks ago when the food was great but the service was poor but now, on a very busy Saturday night with people queuing for tables, the service was friendly, efficient and faultless and the food was outstanding. We (locals) hope that the Venture Inn continues with this Spanish theme as we can see it being hugely successful and very welcome in the area. Seething after our visit, so much so that i'll bullet point only:1. Waitress "are you ready to order food?", me "not yet but we'd like to order drinks", she walks off and doesn't come back?!2. Ordered tapas. Dish 1 patatas bravas comes out after ten minutes (no problem), 20 minutes later the second dish comes out... the explanation was 'that's the point of tapas'... it's definitely not, it's about having little bits of everyone's dish...3. Goes to bar to ask for bill (it wasn't coming any other way (1 hour 30mins into the lunch by now)), and get confronted by the rudest 'manager' I've ever encountered. I was so incensed by my conversation with him that I couldn't even begin to explain the failure with service. He made a loud scene out of a 10% reduction stating we should have told him when we came in "ALWAYS TELL ME WHEN YOU COME IN" (which we had actually told our waitress who told us to tell when we pay).Only getting one star as the selection of beer was excellent.Never spending a penny in this building again.

My boyfriend and I have been to the Venture Inn before and enjoyed it. We also had no problems. However, we visited it again on Sunday 18th December and were very much looking forward to our meal. We got our drinks and sat down, served by a nice women who knew what she was doing. We then ordered shortly after. There we were, sat just talking to each other, watching the lovely tapas come out to other tables and our mouths started watering! We then checked our phones and it had been 20 minutes..as we ordered 2 burgers, we understood it may take a bit longer. However, 40 minutes went past from us ordering, and still no food. We then asked how long it was going to be, the man who I assume was the manager (as it looked as though he knew what was going on)..then said that it was coming "straight out". We then waited in anticipation for our food to leave the kitchen! Unfortunately we watched another tables food come out before us even though we ordered a good 10 minutes before them. Even though they ordered tapas rather than a meal, their food should not come out before another tables. Also, our food took another 10 minutes to arrive at our table so the man was wrong. Don't get me wrong, the food was lovely but it doesn't take 50 minutes to cook 2 burgers when the pub wasn't busy in the slightest. Disappointing meal as it took so long to come out. Will think again before returning.

A while ago, I gave a short review of The Venture Inn, a pub situated a little bit out of town with a homely feel and a Thai cuisine menu that catered for all. It was a great place, full of character (and characters) that encouraged return visits time and time again. I made the conscious decision to wait a while before returning after the reopening because I wanted to give the place a fair chance, as several people I know that had been hadn't exactly been kind. So, as I was used to doing in the Inn days, I went down to The Venture Bar & Grill to watch the rugby on a Saturday afternoon with some mates. Outside the place is basically the same, save for the addition of a shelter and a new sign. Inside, however, is all change. The two bars have been knocked through into one large wraparound bar which, although provides better accessibility, does give rise to the occasional sports fan standing in the middle of the walkway, wide-stanced whilst fixated on the TV placed in the middle of the bar area. The biggest bug for me was that there was no sense of separation anymore. In the old days there were the two bar areas, one for the sports fans (where I would, more often than not, find myself), and another for the more conventional drinker/diner types. I'm not sure that it's fair to say that the new layout is 'wrong' so to speak, but I wouldn't say they've got it right either. Whilst this wasn't a dining visit, I did have the opportunity to look through the evening menu. Whilst it is indeed extensive, it seemed to be a very peculiar mix of foods. If you're advertising as a grill, then why is a large part of your menu dedicated to a tapas menu? (and option 22: fries - really pushing the idea of 'tapas' there) Suggestions - Do more than two steaks, offer a surf 'n' turf, give an option of sauces, some grilled sides, there are a number of other ways to make the menu more relevant. I must say that the burger portion of the menu (6 choices I believe) did look good, although I for one am sick of everything being served on brioche. Like I said before, this wasn't a dining visit, so this is merely an observation. Overall, I'm really quite sad at what the Venture has become. I don't blame the management at all, however. This is merely yet another example showing what local bars are having to undergo in order to remain profitable in these troubling times. Then again I could be totally wrong and this is all at the whim of an owner who has bowed to every request for the last half a decade or so. Regardless, serve a bun option aside from goddamn brioche.

What's happened? We used to pop down usually on a Friday evening because there was a real buzz from the staff, punters and all the TV's fired up with sport. Lately and last week again it seemed drab and boring and the bar staff could hardly be bothered to make the effort especially when we asked if they could find a particular type of bottled beer, in fact one of them started moaning about us when getting our change from the till. Poor poor poor when pubs should be WELCOMING. Yes, and why does the "manager" seem to be sitting around outside the bar drinking every time we go in. Anyway voted with out feet and started going down The Bell!

I have visited this pub two or three times and have found it clean, friendly with lovely staff. The food has always been good with perfectly cooked tuna being my favourite.I feel if you are friendly to the staff they will be friendly back. Go in with an attitude and you are bound to feel negative. Its a great pub for groups or if you want to be tucked away quietly.

Rare chance to go out as a couple one Friday night. Ok beer (nothing seems to beat the S'Oaks in Newdigate though - their beers are excellent). Ordered burgers. They came on a big board, they looked fantastic - we had spied them enviously before when here only for a drink) but they were lukewarm. Bit disappointing. Service good though - no issues.

Decided to return to what was a good pub with good Thai food. Sadly this is no longer the case; The online menu isn't available, we were served dry tasteless burgers by surly staff ( with the exception of the barmaid).Such a shame, we definitely wont be back

This used to be one of the best pubs in Reigate and now it's one of the worst. The food really is over priced and very disappointing, the atmosphere is bad but worst of all staff are plain rude. The bar manager / owner / whoever she is runs around scalding the staff like they are children in front of customers. She is unbelievably rude and I for one will never spend another penny in this place.

Having raved about the amazing steak last time I ate at the Venture Inn I today took my husband to try it out. Sooo disappointing. The steak was not good at all. Very gristly and chewy, not as flavoursome as before either. He had to leave a large portion of it - and it is not cheap! We did complain and the waitress said she would show the chef but nothing else happened after that. We also told the girl who took our payment and she just said "you will have to come back and try another time" !! Come on Venture Inn, what has happened to that delicious food I was telling everyone about a few months ago? And where is your customer service?

We visited the Venture on a Monday night and expected it to be quiet. We were right, the only diners in the place at around 8pm. The service was prompt and polite with the starters arriving very quickly, perhaps too quickly. The olives were freezing cold and hard and had obviously just been taken out of the fridge, they were completely without flavour. The grilled baby squid tasted far from fresh and the chilli dressing appeared absent. This was reported to the waitress who said that she'd tell chef. No apology was offered other than that. The burgers were ok, nothing more than that. The meat had been ground so finely that the burgers had a spongy feel to the bite, and no texture when chewing. They were totally lacking in flavour. The coleslaw served on the side tasted like it was made several days prior to our visit. A disappointing meal which was not cheap. As a side note, a little more attention to detail would make a big difference here. The food was served on plastic trays lined with paper printed with the pub's name. Both our trays were served with this print upside down. The ketchup and mayo bottles needed their lids cleaning and were almost empty. The blackboards were advertising sporting events which had already taken place. I'd perhaps try this place again in 6 months to see if it had improved, but until then, I'll not be returning.

Would definitely recommend the newly refurbished 'Venture' pub. We have been a few times recently and the food has always been excellent. When we went on my daughter's 3rd birthday the staff made an extra effort and put a candle in her dessert etc. All in all a nice local pub with good food.

This is an ideal venue for watching a Sports event with friends. The screens are well positioned, so no one gets in the way of the screen, whilst going to the bar or toilet. There is no pressure for everyone sitting at a table to eat... there was a group of people watching football and 2/5 were eating, the others not. The food menu is ideal for the type of venue and good value, considering the area. Recommend the stilton, beetroot, parsnip burger and sweet potato fries. Like how the knife was positioned in the burger... quirky! Friendly and helpful bar staff. Good choice of ales displayed.

This is a pub not a restaurant. As a pub, it is great, the refurb has really opened the place up, it's bright and clean and sells beer. As a restaurant, there is room for improvement. The "grill" menu is pretty limited and food quality isn't anything special, and I was left with the impression that there was a lack of care going into preparation and delivery, i.e. dishes incomplete, some orders didn't turn up, some dishes didn't resemble what was on the menu. Prices are reasonable though. Staff were relatively pleasant and friendly. I would recommend they fix the kitchen and consider returning the Thai food which was always superb. In summary - this is a pub not a restaurant, if you eat there you get pub food, and against that benchmark it is a reasonable place to eat. I'll be returning - for drinks.

We chose the Venture inn for our Christmas meal and were utterly disgusted by service, attitude, food and how we were treated. At first we were sat to a table with no menus, after scouring the other tables we managed to find a couple of evening menus. After seconds of sitting down we were then asked if we were ready to order, we had asked for a few more minutes and looking around the restaurant there were no other tables eating. We then ordered as another table were being seated and waited 40 minutes for our food to which a waitress with an obvious attitude problem approached us to say that "it'll be another 15 minutes", no apology. To this we then questioned why the table across from us had received their food before us when we had ordered before them, she then replied "you had a complicated order". We ordered 3 steaks, 2 burgers and sides. No apology at all for the lateness. When the food finally arrived they had missed an order and offered a milkshake in return, we had accepted the goodwill gesture but then found that other items from our order where wrong as well.At this point we asked to speak with the manager whom was very elusive, the same waitress from before now began to refuse to serve us after asking for our table to be cleared she replied "I'll get someone else". Finally the 'manager' appeared and we had mentioned how disappointed we were with our meal, how we feel the service has been appealing with no apology and that we don't feel we should pay full price. She then walked off and whom appeared can only be described at the rudest, most disgusting man I have ever met. He was the owner and approached the table by slamming the receipt down and shouting "are you going to (profanity) pay!" We were all so taken back by this that we were honestly speechless. He insulted us by saying we were just a bunch of teenagers and he has worked in this trade for years, we are 7-23 year olds. He then without hesitation threatened to call the police even before he had listened to us try and reason with him over querying the bill. He was so aggressive with no remorse, a friend had mentioned the fact that we had to find our own menus which he replied "we're a pub, not a (profanity) restaurant". At no point during this meal were we given a single apology furthermore did they try to be understanding of the situation. I would advise you avoid this place like the plague, but if you enjoy paying full price for awful food and service whilst the owner shouts in your face then this would be perfect.

Very slow service, food order turned up incomplete and was sub standard. Our waitress was very combative after complaining and refused to clear our table after we had finished. We asked for the manager (John) who was very aggressive towards us including swearing at the females in our group. He advised we "pay the (profanity) bill or I'll call the (profanity) police". We were then left with the head waitress (Marya) who was very abrasive and would not let us leave until we paid.Although a member of our party had visited the restaurant numerous times before with a very pleasant experience, I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. In fact I would advise you steer clear based on the absolutely disgraceful attitude of the management.

I went to new Venture Inn Bar and Grill . This was a lunch with work colleagues which we were really looking forward too . Even though we had heard of some bad reviews we wanted to give them a try. The refurb is really nice , modern and clean but the the food or should I say the chef needs to be sorted out . If you order the chicken be careful as we did and and we were ill afterwards . The chicken was cooked through but lukewarm not as hot as you would expect if it's just been freshly cooked. Even though we preordered the food as we only had an hour for our lunch it arrived 30minutes into our 1hour. This is poor service especially if we have already given our orders through prior to arriving . After our lunch a few of us were quite ill. I've not been back since and never will. I would recommend The Bell in Reigate as they r fab and consistent with the quality of the food. They should bring back the Thai food and sort out the chef , maybe they will get some customers back . Disappointed.Maybe environmental health should go round and check the kitchen out.

Imagine a place in Reigate with 6 tv screens, bt & sky sports, beer and steaks! sounds like a sports bar eh? Unfortunately not. A great idea, but executed unbelievably poorly. No football shirts allowed (even when the football is advertised & on several televisions). Anyone who DARES to watch football is scowled at for the remainder of the afternoon. even when ordering food and spending near enough a fortune behind the bar, the egotistical landlord is looking for the slightest excuse to ban anyone who doesnt adhere to his dictatorship rules. To be honest, i would probably be as angry as him knowing I had wasted money turning a great pub/Thai restaurant into a sinking ship where the food tastes like its been scrapped of the pavement.

We met up here for a couple of drinks and a meal. The service was good and the drinks fine. I had a burger well done which was nice but a friend had a steak. It was awful. It was clearly frozen and not defrosted properly. It had three very distinct layers of colour. The out side looked normal but then there was a thin layer which was red and then a thick layer in the middle which was yellow and they same again going down to the bottom.

The Venture has never had atmosphere although the barside (not 'restaurant' side) got close but still never made it. The Thai food was good. The renovation has ripped out whatever atmosphere it had. Thai food is gone and in it's place is a Bar & Grill menu. What annoyed me straight away is that there is one item on the menu that concerns Chicken. Probably the most popular meat ? Under the chicken quarter/half on the menu is something like 'subject to availability'. On a Friday ....at one o'clock....they had run out. When I observed that if they knew enough to put a disclaimer in the menu why did they not know enough to buy or cook more they landlord said well it takes 3.5 hours to cook. I did not enquire what his point was seeing as this was a restaurant and newly opened one at that. Then he said you could always order ahead !!!. What a bit of chicken ? Presumably they'd like you to order it at 9.30 so as to give chef a fighting chance of having it ready by 1.00 ?.We started to order. We got to the bit about fish fingers in a roll. Sorry said landlord, it's off. What ? Fish fingers ? Wonder if he'd like me to pop to Morrisons.I ordered a 10inch Hotdog. Someone has snapped off 3 inches from chefs ruler. It was no longer than 7 inches and as the onions, bun, mustard and ketchup were all the same temperature as the brokwurst sausage I'd guess it was all microwaved.I've wasted enough time on this. Unless I'm outvoted by a group of guests etc, I will not attend here again. Awful.

Having witnessed the refurbishment taking place, as I drove past each day I thought I would go and check out the new look and food in the pub. Positives - it is definitely more light and airy and has a much more modern feel to it. My husband didn't like it as he preferred the old style look of the pub - this now looks more like a trendy bar with the prices to match. Toilets have certainly been improved upon. Negatives - this pub used to be jammed pack with people wanting good quality Thai food. Now the food menu has been changed to "American Diner" and I ordered the ribs.... they were mediocre at best - can get a far better meal at Bills down the road if this is your food preference. With the amount of food choices in Reigate, I will not be returning here for a meal and with the drinks being pricey too, I have a feeling this pub will not flourish as it once did. Also there seems to be a lack of staff which meant a bit of a wait at the bar to order drinks. A real shame as this used to be my preferred venue for Thai food and a drink...

If you were thinking of visiting the Venture Inn - or as it is now called, the Venture Bar and Grill - for its excellent Thai menu, there's now no point, as from last Saturday they have completely changed their menu. My colleagues and I were looking forward to a team lunch here today, as we've visited many times before (probably about once a month), and arrived to find a welcome revamp of the décor, and a wholly unwelcome revamp of the food. It now offers the trendy selection of burgers, posh dogs, pulled pork, ribs, etc. which Reigate isn't exactly crying out for, you can get a better burger at the Bell or Market, for example. There seems to have been a change of management, as the beer menu is different as well, they no longer offer the same wide selection of bottled beers. The website hasn't yet been updated to reflect this, so no idea who is now in charge. I presume the new staff are learning the ropes, but the service was pretty shonky, they managed to get 3 orders out of 5 wrong. The food was below par, my colleague's veggie burger was cold, with a burnt bun, with some stray chicken on the plate - also, the range of veggie options was far superior before, you could have pretty much any dish as a veggie dish with tofu and veg rather than meat or prawns. The previous service was prompt, polite and the food was delicious and great value for money, in fact the only improvement needed was to the décor! There is now no USP to this pub - it is now light & airy but fairly bland and 'corporate'-feeling (brick wall - check, wooden tables - check, fries in enamel mugs - check, burgers on trays - check, distressed clock etc etc) which you can get in several places in Reigate already, and with a pretty bog-standard American-style menu. Very disappointing and a great loss to Reigate. Shame they couldn't have kept the food and staff, or revamped one of the pubs around here which really needed a menu shake-up. I think someone needed to do a bit of research - on tripadvisor for example! I only wish I could have had another meal here before they changed the menu. We will not return.

drinks were absolutely phenomenal, staff were lovely, however there were builders screaming and swearing and throwing tools on the floor when we visited. i of course understand that the staff cannot help what other people do but there was no effort to ask them to quiet down or even to just lay off the swearing as there were a number of young children in the cafe and it was incredibly unpleasant. i usually really like this place but im disappointed with my recent visit and id recommend sticking to the costa in redhill town centre if you can.
