Three of us had lunch in the Hope Inn ordering our food from Noiy's. My prawn with cashew nut rice was really tasty. Good sized prawns and plenty of fresh ingredients. A filling meal. Costs £12 rather than the £10 on the online menu but a good meal for the price. The pub is quite tired and needs a facelift. The staff were friendly and pleasant as was the man who I assume was the landlord. I saw the garden through the window, though it was too cold to sit outside, it looked very pleasant.

Tried the take away from Noiy's as we love Thai food. They “say” that theirs is Thai Street food in some of their advertising. Well this is as far away from Thai food as we are geographically to Thailand itself! Make no mistake, this is just a basic take-away Noodle Bar. Also the food had a high salt content. Authentic Thai food is all about herbs and spices. The limited menu has no flexibility to cope with special requests. I asked for the stir fried veg without the noodles. They couldn’t do that. Why? Because that dish is 90% noodles and 10% veg. So, don’t insult your tastebuds here if you are a lover of Thai food. Please note that this is a review on the Thai take-away only; we didn't venture into the pub.

We had originally set out to eat at the waterfront restaurant. We found the waterfront to be very busy and noisy and like our custom wasn’t particularly wanted with only the offer of a table directly in the sunlight, we didn’t find this to be inviting at all and so made our way back up the road to stumble across this lovely looking little pub. We realised there was hope after all! The staff were fantastic throughout, couldn’t have helped us more and were so attentive without being over bearing. With it being beautiful weather we sat in the beautiful garden in a nice shady spot which was lovely and quiet, it was so relaxing. We had a Thai lunch which was 10/10 really reasonably priced and quite a novelty really! The whole ambience was absolutely lovely, so comfortable and friendly. If we ever come back to Hythe we’ll definitely come here again. If you’re thinking about visiting this pub, please do, it’s so worth it and everyone is so lovely. Thank you all and keep up the good work

We've been here a few times and have sat in the garden each time. The garden is lovely with flowers all round, and plenty of space. The drinks are reasonably priced and the service is great - friendly and speedy. The food offered is from Noiy's Noodles which looks next door but is under the same ownership. We asked a couple of members of staff what they liked off the food menu as we were stuck for choice, and they both gave us their favourite options and answered any questions we had. We both LOVED the food and can't wait to go back. Would definitely recommend this place for a nice relaxing drink and bite to eat. If stuck for choice on food... Pad Kra Pao (chicken)!

John, Noiy, and Poppy make you feel relaxed and at home in their pub and garden and takeaway Thai restaurant. Excellent drink choices and a yummy adaptable Thai menu. All served by friendly and relaxed staff. The best and freshest local Thai food with authentic spices and dishes. The large garden with tables and cabins and a separate smoking area is very well laid out. Short walking distance to the seafront, and easy to take takeaway down to the beach. Good safety measures, no concerns whatsoever. If we could come every week we would!

We went to The Hope Inn tonight (6 of us). Buying 6 doubles each round @ £58 we were having a good time, laughing and joking. The bartender came over and complained that we were too noisy! So we left, we would of had at least 4 more drinks. There was only 4 other people in the pub at the time!! So I would recommend The 3 Mariners about the corner. Very friendly staff and a much better atmosphere!

This pub has new owners who have refurbished it to a very high standard. They serve Thai street food which is cooked fresh while you have a drink at the bar. Food is reasonably priced and of a very good standard, coming in standard and large portions. We had chicken and cashew stir fry, and chicken satay, both of which were filling and delicious. We ate at a table in the bar. Service for both food and drink was very efficient. Everyone is very friendly. Can highly recommend.

Poor bar service: slow and haphazard. A completely ludicrous “system” for ordering food: join a queue, wait for the person in front of you to have their order cooked before your order is even taken then wait for your order to be cooked before you can return to your table. That’s a good 20 minutes’ process per person so multiply your wait by the number of people ahead of you. The food, when you finally get it is bland in the extreme. A great big rethink is required here.

I've read a recent review saying this pub isn't kid friendly and there's other places that are...really? I have 2 young children that I bring in this pub regularly and are ALAWYS made to feel welcome it's known as the ONE pub in hythe that is kid friendly the Mariners don't even allow children and the other pubs all have time restrictions of when children should be out but the hope in is the only one who doesn't! If people want to go for a drink it doesn't matter if the pub is empty or not ur children shouldn't be running around like it's some sort of play ground it's a PUB! there's a park over the road! Makes me cross as I've been coming in here for years and both land lord and land lady are so lovely and so are the bar staff! If people can't parent there children in an adult environment (after all it is a pub) and then get funny when someone asks you not to let them run around then that's there problem not yours.

Had a meal but not impressed - specials looked tasty but my choice did not live up to the description and the tartare sauce was the cheapest ever, certainly not home made. Dessert was awful and had it deducted from the bill, but the 'Landlady' walked away as I was making my points about the meal, just saying that 'people come for miles to have this dessert and we sell lots of them'! Well it was so bland that I am not sure how to describe it, except inedible, which is why we sent it back! I ate hear as part of a 'meeting/social' with some local residents that had been here before and recommended it. It's a good quality traditional pub that may seem imposing to start with as the locals clearly have their seats at the bar; however, it was actually quite welcoming here when you got chatting to them. The menu is quite simple and traditional but the food that arrived was good quality and good tasting. The service was very good as well, especially as it was just the landlord doing so as well as manning the bar.

We were staying at The Stade Court Hotel and didn't fancy the bar there, so dropped in at The Hope Inn both nights of our stay in Hythe (which was a couple of hundred yards from our hotel). We didn't eat there, but saw some plates going by, which looked good. The customers and staff at The Hope Inn are extremely friendly and we were very happy having a couple of drinks there both nights of our stay in Hythe. Next time, we will definitely eat there.

Visited for food as staying nearby at hotel which is expensive. Lovely old fashioned pub with separate eating area if you want. Good choice of food and not just chips! Fresh home cooked food while we waited. Was worth it. My partner had liver and bacon on a bed of mash, fresh vegetables came separate and a gravy boat full of onions too. Being an ex butcher and loving food in general, he said it was cooked perfectly. Piping hot too.I am less adventurous, having the cajun chicken, vegetables and a jacket instead of chips, which they changed with no problems. Again piping hot and full of flavour. Portions are generous, saw others peoples food coming out, fish was massive and not frozen.Friendly and varied customers, local and visitors. Very reasonable prices too.Shame we were only visiting the area. Hope to come back again, would certainly eat here again. Recommend. They do Sunday lunch to, booking advisable.

I'm sure this is a nice local pub, for the regulars. But we were visitors looking for somewhere to eat, which was just down the road from where we were staying, there was no menu outside so we went in to look at menu, I don't want to be critical but it wasn't to our taste not very exciting, basic pub grub. Felt the girl behind the bar was a little aggressive to us and pushy about booking a table as she informed us that they had a party of 6 coming in that evening. Ok not sure, was that to inform us they were going to be busy then. Anyway we didn't book a table, left feeling slightly bemused.

We called in here for dinner one evening and were pleasantly surprised by the good range of real ales and decent wine. There is an extensive menu with a mixture of down to earth pub grub and some more elaborate dishes. We both went for the former and were blown away by how well cooked and presented it was. I wish we lived nearer but were just passing through on our way to France.

Back in Hythe again to visit family.Headed back to the Hope after such a good experience earlier this year. Turned up as party of 8 of us including children. Sat in the wonderful garden at the rear of the pub which was bathed in beautiful sunshine. Ordered a variety of main courses, (actually all different) including children’s meals and the food was again amazing. On a very busy day, when the garden was packed, the food arrived beautifully cooked and quickly. Really impressed with the charming waitress and nothing was too much trouble. Food and all the drinks and the bill was less than £80.00. Can not be beaten for value for money!!!!!

Six of us ate in the restaurant and we had a very nice meal on the Friday evening, it was so good that we thought we would eat there again on the Saturday. But we were disappointed to find the place was closed. It was still closed on the Sunday. Is this Inn still in business?

Never been before and was surprised at the spacious dining room, atmospheric bar area and attractive large garden. Even though it's June the weather outside was windy, dull and cold. It was nice to feel the radiators were full on making it cosy inside. Friendly and efficient staff, good choice of menus and as it was Friday a Fish Specials Board with several options. Will visit again when the weather is nicer !

A sunny Saturday afternoon lunch was required and so my husband and I decided to eat at the hope inn, hythe. We had been there before with our dog, and had a well cooked lunch, so we tried it again-without the hound this time, and again very kind service, lovely honest home cooked food. A pleasant pub with a friendly welcome. Do pop in and try for yourselves.

This pub is a little tired inside. We were surprised that the food was very good - better than we had expected. For that reason, we would go there again ,- despite the décor.

Thought we would try this pub for the first time tonight. The bar area was busy and looked like good fun. However we went into the restaurant to be greeted by a couple complaining about their food.We ordered ours and when it arrived was surprised at how little flavour everything had. Nothing to complain about just very bland.Prices were good though so suspect it's an example of you get what you pay for.

I had the home made leek and potato soup and a steak and kidney pudding. Too much and I can eat!!! Beautiful. Well worth a visit. Popped in for food with hungry children but sadly the kitchen does not open until 6pm in the evening so could not stay to eat. However, we did stay for a drink which was nice, good beer on draft. Quite an old setting but plenty of space for dining. Menu is quite extensive and we will return to eat on another occasion. Staff were very helpful

Walking back to the town from the seafront we haw the usual "home cooked food" sign and thought we would give it a try. It was pretty quiet with only a few customers in. The food took quite a long time to arrive and although I was a bit apprehensive it turned out to be tasty and decent portions. The decor and furniture are pretty dated but the staff are friendly and helpful.

The beer was first class (Harveys bitter) well presented. All the staff were friendly and willing to take time out to speak to you, All in all, WELL WORTH THE VISIT, and if in Hythe will visit again.

We booked a table here as we were staying in Hythe for NYE.The service, from the two barmaids was excellent from the moment we arrived and nothing was too much bother. They continually checked we were ok and everything was ok with food and kept an eye on drinks. They allowed us to open a tab at the bar.Quite a big menu with something for everyone. We opted for two courses and there was a good wait between courses, so we didn't feel too stuffed! The starters were nice- prawn cocktail and pate ordered. We opted for lasagne and chilli for mains. There was nothing wrong with the food...it was just ok. A little under seasoned and the chilli had no 'chilli factor'.We were the only diners on this occasion, although some people were eating in the bar.The bar was quite busy.
