We thought we’d try out the Mayfly for Sunday lunch! It was a lovely day so we sat outside. The carvery have a nice choice of meat & veg and huge Yorkshire’s Our party of 3 + dog thoroughly enjoyed our meal and will certainly be back in the near future. Every member of staff was polite and helpful. I would highly recommend the Mayfly for an affordable tasty Sunday lunch and we are now keen to also try their midweek menus at some point!

The Mayfly Pub in Hawkinge, Folkestone, is an absolute gem! From the moment we walked in, the warm and friendly atmosphere made us feel right at home. The staff were attentive and welcoming, and the service was excellent throughout. The food was delicious – beautifully presented, full of flavor, and clearly made with quality ingredients. The Sunday roast was especially impressive, and the desserts were a perfect finish. The cozy interior and lovely outdoor seating make it a great spot year-round. Whether for a casual meal or a special occasion, The Mayfly is a five-star experience. Highly recommended!

Oh my word you guys sucked. We ordered food, you waited until most of the meals were delivered to announce that one of them was out of stock. We ordered sides to replace it. They came without most of the listed components. Then you announced that another meal was out of stock... Whilst most people had been served. And you served a mixed grill without a steak. And then as compensation you offered to take off the meals we hadn't received. Absolute trash, will be posting this on Google as well. Please feel free to respond to that review with an actual answer and not 'please email us' which tells people looking at your reviews nothing at all. Would give 0 stars if I could.

An impromptu light lunch on the first day of our holiday with an accompanying Aperol Spritz. Staff members were very pleasant. Great service. Perfect. Thank you. Would love to have you both on our business team. We are looking for people-focused, pleasant and motivated team members.

The pub was tidy inside and clean, I had noticed that the surrounding outside of the pub has been attended to and was looking much more presentable. The staff are friendly and attentive. The food was prepared fairly quick after ordering, some of us had starters and these were good value for money. The staff cleared our table, we ordered some more drinks from the bar. The atmosphere is a chilled out one, we had children with us that were welcomed with no issues using the pool table. The main meals were good, prepared and presented well. The mains tasted good and all food was served hot. Very good selection of branded condiments that are free of charge.

Came for Sunday carvery. Can't believe how this place has changed since present management took over. The food is great, the place has been newly decorated and the toilets are clean and fresh. Will be back with all my family very soon. Thank you.

I often visit the mayfly with friends and family as I love the great food and service. It’s a nice atmosphere with comfortable seating and really friendly staff - today we had Roxy and Vicky providing a friendly and speedy service. We really enjoyed our meals, which were hot and came out quite soon after ordering. Tasty as always! Also great value. I’ve already booked to come back in a couple of weeks. It’s one of my favourite local places to eat and is really good value for money. Win win.

Nice pub..... Food nice but the last few times we have been there seems to be a problem one way or another with the kitchen.... Seems to be a bit hit and miss but if all goes well then it's good .

A lovely spot for any occasion, very friendly staff, came here on my own as a female and I felt very safe and comfortable in this environment, I would recommend for anyone. I had a steak Americano and was cooked perfectly to the medium rare I requested, chips were also beautiful. Will definitely be comings again.

Great carvery. Biggest Yorkshire pudding ever and good varied vegetable selection. All meats very tasty too.

We came yesterday as a family of 12 for mother's day, on the website there was a set mothers day menu as well as the normal menu, when we arrived all they had to offer was a carvery and kids meals and told us on Sundays that's all that they do.Not anywhere on the website did it say this. So we all had to have the carvery apart from the children, when we had the carvery it was COLD not even warm, when we told staff all they could say to us was "oh was it" no apology or anything so there was so much wasted, for the puddings there wasn't much to offer in which some had custard we had to send back as that was only just Luke warm. What with spending over £230 this was very disappointing and would not recommend it to anyone.

Amazing sunday carvery, great non rushed atmosphere, family friendly. Bar staff are a bit slow, they was good but could be faster. FOOD WAS PRETTY AMAZING. Myself my daughter and my mother enjoyed a very humbling tasty meal. I will definitely return.

Thought we'd try it out after a few years absence for a birthday get together. Wish we hadn't bothered. Cold chips and peas, scampi was ok. No jalapenos on nachos as they'd run out (go next door to Lidl then) very little of anything else on it. Fried eggs burnt! How do you do that. No puds as kitchen closed at 8pm. Waitress was nice, but when we complained the manager stayed away watching football at the other end of the bar. Not much chance of a revisit for a few years, if ever.

I took my mum in for an early mother's day meal. We ordered before 6pm and was told it would be between 10-15 minutes. After around 45 minutes I asked how much longer. Barmaid said I will find out. She stood at kitchen door and showed me 5 fingers. Later on after over an hour I had to go back. The manager came out and said it will only be 1 minute more as he told them to redo the garlic bread 10 minutes later we eventually got our food. Really really bad service. No please or sorry. Just under £37 and we will never ever go back. Other customers were also in the same place as us and having to demand a refund. If I could I would rate the whole experience a big ZERO

Went there for lunch found a table went to the counter to order food, stood there for 5 minutes when eventually the staff member came over told us to wait .. Then we were told without any apology that the chef had stopped doing food!!!! Lovely... after sitting down with our 98 year old mother we left...this place is as bad as it was a year ago , lack of staff and no chef to cook anything....absolutely shocking way to run a restaurant will definitely NOT be back.... 🤬

the staff are very friendly and have great customer service, the second i walked in i was greeted and felt very welcomed into this establishment. the food was amazing good value for money. time management was impeccable. shall be telling all my friends and family about my experience this afternoon. i will definitely be going again. 😃

Was a bit rushed as told there where 2 wakes and we needed to order quickly. Garlic bread with cheese came out on paper napkins, so couldn't separate and had to ask for a replacement. Kids 5+ meals were a bit small. Otherwise it wasn't too bad. Will try again as might just of been a bad day.

Luckily staff were really friendly and helpful and agreed this was awful. They refunded us on the spot and we went elsewhere for dinner. If you only offer carvery on a Sunday, then don't allow people to book a table at the end of service when there's no food left!

We went on a Sunday lunch for the carvery and it was lovely, beef was cooked perfectly and the roast potatoes were great. Since it has been taken over the place has improved dramatically. We will return again!

I held my husband's memorial at the Mayfly. The venue was what I wanted for the celebrations. The management and staff were very helpful and made sure throughout the event that everything they provided met our needs. I would recommend the venue to anyone who wants a relaxed and well catered event. I didn't have a single worry about the organisation of my event and on the day everything was already waiting for us. Thank you.

The best hosts for a celebration! Having lost a member of our family at the end of last year, we wanted to get friends and family together for a memorable. The venue provided all the food and of course the most incredible staff who looked after us all with such kindness and also fun when appropriate. I wouldn't hesitate recommending the Mayfly for any occasion ✨️

Been before and thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Went to the carvery this time. Was quite early 2nd table seated. The meat was a bit fatty, gammon. The potatoes were mushy. There was no real taste to the rest of the food. The cauliflour wasn't cooked in the cauliflour cheese, it was still hard. It wasn't up to par. Also because it was carvery there was no other option, not even a kids menu, most children are fussy eaters and will not eat a roast, or a full one. So I'd say slightly disappointed. But we wouldn't write it off, it's got a nice atmosphere and nice and friendly staff. Couldve been just a bad batch! The food previously has been nice.

Great pub with good food reasonably priced

Came tonight for dinner for 4 and it was lovely. We didn't book but staff found us a table in the bar area and sat us quickly which we were grateful for, it became a little loud (people having fun so can't be too mad!!) but before we could even make mention of it, they moved us to the dining area when a table cleared. Fast service and friendly staff, and food was delicious. We had a Southern fried chicken burger, cheese burger, curry and steak, and we were all very happy with our choices! Desserts were also lush. The Mayfly has improved considerably over the past few months since the new landlord has taken over. This guy knows what he is doing. Lovely to take my family to a local that is welcoming and comfortable. We don’t eat often but when we have it’s been very nice.

We had booked a table online for lunch on boxing day. There was a bit of confusion because the booking showed up as regular dining but we thought we had booked the festive menu. The manager and staff were brilliant about it. They were able to give us the festive menu without making a fuss about it. The food was cooked to order and was delicious. The portions were large and they were able to give us advice on gluten free tweaks to cater for our needs. We were surprised at how quiet it was in there (we were the only diners), which meant there wasn't much of a Christmas atmosphere.

Sunday carvery is back! We had a great experience last week at The Mayfly Hawkinge. The carvery food was excellent and terrific value. The service is back to being friendly and professional. The Mayfly looked clean and well run. Finally I think they have turned the pub around. Highly recommend. I also booked a Christmas meal for a group of 11 friends and we were not disappointed. The service again was great, the food was great and plentiful. Nothing was too much trouble. It was superb value for money and the whole group was happy with the whole experience and said they would now return to The Mayfly.

Food was good. Service very slow, our table was booked for 1:30pm we got our food at 2:30pm. Should also be informed to order food at the bar.

We had booked a table for Sunday carvery with my Nan who struggles to walk long distances and immediately the staff were attentive and allowed her to sit down when she arrived which was very important to us, so thank you for the lovely warm welcome. We have been a few times before and the staff are always so friendly and approachable. Pub is always a lovely atmosphere and family friendly which is lovely to see. We have had the carvery there a couple of times and it is always so fresh and delicious. We will definitely be visiting again soon. Thank you very much!

We have been to the Mayfly 4 times since it became under new management. The first time the food was good but service was mediocre. But it has got better every time we have been. Yesterday was faultless. Made to feel welcome. Food was great. First rate.

Well I tried and was disappointed,asked for mixed grill,not available, ordered chicken burger very average,over an hour wait for only one course,tuna melt was very dry and over done baguette. Dirty toilets yuck, tables sticky, needs proper clean,one person bringing the food, serving at the bar and taking.away dishes. No wonder people come and don't come back,shame indeed.

Had a most enjoyable experience at the Mayfly. Visiting family in the area and we all came for an early lunch here. We were made to feel very welcome, one of our party is a fussy eater and their tastes were catered for. Next time we are in the area, we will be back. Thank you to all the staff.

If it was possible to rate it a 0 I would have. The company got my order wrong also it took 1 hour for my food to arrive the chip were nice though.
