Costa Coffee in Shepway

I had a maple hazel latte which had a very nice sweet flavour. The customer service was excellent, Jack who served me is such a nice and cheerful guy. I’d definitely come back and visit soon.

Staff not seeming to be very skilled and sometimes only two staff on and no clean cups resulting in drinking from take away cups when sitting in.

Rubbish, queued nearly half hour 2 members of staff didn't stop bickering to each other, it was rather awkward. 3rd member of staff went to lunch at a very busy time. (Costa you need more staff ) never again.

Regular Costa shop, good service but too many tables needed clearing when we visited, hence three stars.

Hythe Costa staff (2men on shift 22nd) are out of this world! Hardworking, great customer service, actually have conversation instead of robotic service. Staff that care! My company are searching for staff like this.Well done hythe Costa you guys show a lot of others how it’s done. Cakes are fresh and noticed he took fresh cinnamon bun out rather than one on stand,the only Costa I known to do this they obviously understands how hard that particular bun gets left out. In the Centre of Hythe it's Spacious with families keeping the Place busy . Tuna melt and Latte were very nice.

It's OK, been in one Costa you have been in all, very little space to sit outside, drinks were good

We are regular visitors to Hythe and have a coffee and nibble before doing the high street. Whilst the staff are ok, the place itself is worn and grubby. It could do with a good refurb and clean from top to bottom. The tables are sticky, very often uncleared from previous customers and greasy looking and the toilet is invariably not working. Most of the time the selection of pastries and cakes is depleted, rarely any croissants etc. The wait time is often too long. It’s not a satisfying experience.

Was queuing for 15 minutes, only one in front. The girl was constantly coughing in her hands and touching the drinks. we decided to walk out , wasn't happy.

FFS just smile. Your coffee is decent, your toasties are decent but overpriced but please, it’s worth it if you just F*****g smile 😊

Not enough staff on a very very busy Satirday afternoon with a big football match on just down the road. Several people in the queue gave up before I was served. Can't blame the staff but your establishment figure for today was wrong and not flexible enough for extraordinary events. Drink was fine but there are better cafes in Hythe and I will use one of those next time. Not my usual Costa experience sadly.

Coffee is hit and miss depending on who makes it, a chain or not its average at best. Staff are rude and unhelpful if you then ask for a coffee that is either hot or has frothy milk, be prepared for bad attitude

Always good coffee at Costa, the tables could be cleared more frequently but the staff are very thin on the ground.

How can Costa have NO TOAST. One vegan sandwich . Food offering apalling. What a shambles

Dull dirty floor and tables toilets are not pleasant understaffed mouldy ceiling not very inviting best to get a takeaway if you want your cost fix x

Very nice service good food ..not too busy for a Saturday. ..But they need to fix the large patch of black mould on the ceiling by the window..it has put me off going in again...

I was supposed to meet my friend Tarquin in Hythe to gow on pier train but I wrongly set sat nav to Hythe Kent not Hampshire and suddenly I realised my error. I needed to cheer myself up so when I saw costa coffe I was happy, and the coffee was better than average and I consumed some cake. I hope tomorrow go other Hythe and there costa coffee there too.

Cash only on day i visited... which is fine by me, pay by phone brigade got a refresh in keeping cash... nice clean airy and really good coffee..

We had soya milk latte very nice but did feel sorry for barista doing all drinks did think other barista could of helped a little because of queer

J'adore l'emplacement sur une rue piétonne et la terrasse est sympathique. Le staff très professionnel et à l'écoute, la jeune fille qui s'est occupée de moi était en formation s'en est très bien sortie avec l'aide de son tuteur bien sûr ! Produits frais et le café très bien servi et de bon goût. Il y règne une ambiance calme comme dans une bibliothèque mais avec un murmure de conversation.

Staff are not knowledgable at all, just shrug when asked a question, never offered cream, never offered help with choice. worse costa I have used. Staff also stood around chatting. Felt really unwelcome. Was dining in but took takeout in the end.

Considering how much Costa charge...this place is a bit of a s***hole truthfully. Understaffed (so slow service ensues, although staff were lovely) dirty tables and the toilets...wow. I've seen cleaner toilets in dive bars...there's also a huge mouldy damp patch on the ceiling and peeling paintwork above the door when you come in. Certainly not a welcoming, cosy environment. Only reason we came was because the locally owned coffee shops were full, but definitely won't be coming back here if it can be helped.

I find costa coffees and their snacks expensive so only usually have one coffee and one cake roll or occasional round of sandwiches.nothing to write home about sorry to say.

Visited today , to try the kit kat range. Pleasantly surprised. Quick and friendly service.

Queue was quite long and slow but we waited anyways. The cashier at reception taking orders didn’t know how to scam and use voucher codes for costa and points card.. we had to teach him on the spot this should be trained and ready for staff to serve the customers so it’s quick and effective. Area manager needs to retrain and visit this branch

So many Costas have a broken dishwasher using china cups is better than throwing away paper cups surely.

Very convenient location and more importantly, open when many places aren't. Staff are usually very busy but still remain friendly.

3rd time visited and walked out. Most tables all dirty with cups etc. No music playing, dark and unwelcoming. Asked for oat milk still none available, asked for cinnamon on top of chai latte - none available. Repect to trainner young lad customer service was standard but as he was on his own not his fault. Long que and serive slow due to this. No manager present again. Place needs to be re managed or closed.

Possibly the slowest service I have ever received in a Costa. One young man being served obviously a friend of the Barista. I stood in the queue ( just him and me) for at least five minutes without acknowledgment from anybody. So I took a seat to wait for my family 10 minutes later my daughter had to queue behind the same customer before getting served. No wonder the place was empty. With so many places for Coffee in Hythe high st. Give Costa a wide birth😡

Since coming under a change of manager this Costa is unbelievably poor. No basics are now stocked (like toast) and compared to how busy it once was, I can't imagine it lasting too long. Shame really, if the people running this one actually made a customer focused effort it would easily do well. The decor and seating is looking tired and the toilets are smelly. I won't be rushing back to Hythe to visit this outlet any time soon.

They never have any staff and the service is so slow. Queue usually snakes around the shop making it unpleasant for people sitting in. Food selection is poor. Not a nice costa.

I love every costa I go to but this one really shocked me with the so called care (or should I say lack of) that they put into this store. Every staff member especially a girl who seemed to be in charge was very blunt and unwelcoming. The cleanliness was ridiculous like no one gave a toss. The cake was the only nice thing so I cant say that was bad.

Slowest service I’ve ever experienced in a costa. One guy making drinks and he was pretty busy, but it would’ve helped if the woman working with him actually helped him out. She was more interested in fannying around behind the counter. When I ordered my coffee there were 2 people in front of me waiting for drinks and I still sat there 20 minutes waiting. There’s no grabbing a quick coffee here.

I found this a very slow Costa coffee shop indeed I like Costas but I would not go into this one I don't think again even though I'm down this area regularly it was such a slow service and the toilets were filthy

Whenever the Costa app has a deal on, no matter what time of day, or what day you arrive, this Costa has "run out". Maybe its a case of this franchisee letting the other franchisees "take the strain" on the costs? It's not like it's even that busy when we visit...

Lovely staff who are friendly, welcoming with excellent customer service.

We have our coffee's ALWAYS at a Costa and this particular store just does not seem to get any better. Toilets always smell of urine with toilet paper usually not available. Floors are always dirty. Tables are not cleared quickly for the next customer to have a free table. Floors always seem to have food remnants everywhere. Shame as staff are friendly.

This is not my favourite costa to go to, small and smells weird, staff are nice but not as chatty and welcoming as other stores I've been to. Tables are always messy just feel and smells unclean.

No welcome, hardly anyone in there and yet trays and cups left on all the tables, floor needed sweeping, dull, no atmosphere. Depressing. Should have known better and supported the independents.

I have just got a shop in Hythe and have popped here for the odd drink . The service is great and friendly and one lady is amazingly quick at preparing food and drinks. Really impressed .👍

Quick service for a takeout. Good selection of cakes, pastries & biscuits to accompany a beautiful hot coffee. Update for 2022 - still a great little coffee stop off. It's nice to be able to sit outside in the good weather. Great friendly, speedy service with a smile.

I said to myself the previous time I visited hythe Costa I would never return! Why oh why did I think this time the experience would be any better...... On entering there is an immediate uninviting atmosphere, it smells musty and mouldy, not the fresh smell of cooked toasties etc......but this time, once again I thought I'd check to see if there were nice food laid out (as there wasnt on my previous visit...)..but yet again, there were about 3 boring selection of cakes, a couple of what I could see bagged toasties laid out but not much in the dingy dark unlit display cabinets......the actual musty smell instantly puts you off any food anyway.... There were three members of staff, and about 3 people sat at tables.....I saw one family walk in and take a look at the food cabinets and walk out again......So there were more staff than customers......, various tables were still cluttered around me that they hadn't bothered to clear and there was no cleaning going in whatsoever..... They even managed to get my small order wrong as I'd ordered a pot of breakfast tea and a small latte..., but got a flat white instead.......When i asked for this to be replaced, I just got the dark look and rolled eyes at her colleague, as if to say..., she did say a flat white! I then asked if there was a price difference, as id already paid for the flat white and she said no they're about the same.....I think we are talking about 20p but who cares ! We hurried the drinks down before we actually got to feel quite depressed sitting in the dark, dank and musty atmosphere, and swear I shall never ever return! That's a promise.....

Currently only do takeaway as they are understaffed. Although, my order came at a decent speed so I think they are okay.

Drink was very frothy full of air and served in paper cups due to dishwasher broken. Sadly did not enjoy it this time.

During our visit the dishwasher was out of action, which for us is not a problem to drink out of paper cups, it’s just the way hand made signs had been scribbled and stuck up with black & yellow tape, it didn’t look professional at all. Also I ordered a small & a medium drink and was given 2 smalls. Nothing to complain about really, just the little lacks of attention to details let it down this time.

Comfortable surroundings always find Costas roughly the same set a good standard for other establishments to follow.

Dirty and tired store. Staff are unfriendly and unhelpful. It’s one if these franchised costas where they never seem to spend any money or maintain the standards you would expect. They even have stickers on the power sockets saying that customers cannot use them to plug in phones or laptops. Dishwasher has been broken for about a month now so can only have a takeaway cup! There are much better places in Hythe!

It's Costa! Pretty much the same as every other Costa! Expensive coffee and snacks same as all the others but at least you know!

The door looked like it had not been cleaned in awhile, sticky and dirty. Chair cushions was dirty, tables were not the cleanest. Drink and service was great

Staff are always very helpful and polite, the coffee is consistently good, and the location is a good spot to hit on a Sunday/Monday, when many of the independent coffee shops in Hythe are closed.

Costa is my favourite of the major coffee chains, the coffee was typical of Costa and I had a particularly tasty Cinnamon Brioche Bun. The staff had no issue with me turning up soaking wet which I appreciated !

We called in Costa on the Hythe High street for a coffee and a cosy seat. Service was pleasant and polite, coffee was tasty, if a bit expensive. The seats were comfy and a pleasant place to relax.

The table were not wipedown after they were left.

Its costa there all the same, great coffee, fast and convenient.

It's okay in here except the staff seem a little disinterested and it's starting to look tatty. Leaking roof by toilets still not fixed and light fittings missing. Also whenever I ask for a cappuccino there is never enough foam and therefore is more like a latte.
