I went there after my niece's funeral and we were treated with respect by the staff. The family had a buffet in the pub garden and we were left to have our family time Thank you everyone.

It was 12:15hrs on Sunday that we visited, standard Sunday licensing hours apply at that time, but don't worry won't visit or recommend this establishment to anyone. According to sign on door the pub is closed for about 3 days a week, not usual in the hospitality industry.

Very good if you are on a diet and it’s impossible to take long over the choice of bitters this pub really stands out for those that like a very very quiet drink and have trouble making choices their aren’t any

We visited as part of a group of 50 looking at the Marsh churches. Had morning coffee and biscuits, efficiently supplied. Returned for plough mans lunch, once again very efficient for the number of people. Quick efficient service and reasonable quality food. Good ambience, clean and comfortable

A recent visit of friends prompted an evening out. Having been to the R&C; before and been pleased, as my previous post shows, I thought that a trip out to there would be good. Before leaving I noted other reviews with some nasty comments attached so I decided to phone the pub a day or so before the intended trip. The pub does not, at the moment, serve food. The manager was very apologetic and spoke of chef shortages and the fact that the pub is quite remote which also makes it difficult to find personnel. I decided not to go as we were going out to eat but it's still a great country pub worth a visit. I think if the nasty comment raisers had phoned before they visited it would have been helpful and, if not, as far as the road sign was concerned the pub is only a few minutes drive off that main road down a lane so comments totally out of order.

After reading the positive reviews i thought we would stop here for dinner, we walked in but written on the board it said Kitchen closed, this is fair enough but on the main road they advertise they do food, very frustrating as we wasted time and we were hungry.

Ignore the road signs, they don't serve food anymore but you only find that out once you are through the door. Its a real shame as it looks like a nice venue and they had a good reputation for good food so its a real dissapointment, im more annoyed that i spent time finding a place for us to eat, travelled from where we were staying in Hythe as well, not good when you have a hungry family to feed, it might be under new ownership perhaps?

We pulled up and said what a lovely looking place it was, we acted spontaneously after seeing the signs on the main road. The initial excitement was quickly followed by disappointment as they no longer serve food. The kitchen is closed the man said, very frustrating considering the signs would suggest they do food. We ended up at the pilot in dungeness after a quick search on google, serves food from midday onwards and was absolutely delightful

Despite the huge road signs which state "great food" and open all day, both are false.

Despite the huge road signs which state "great food" and open all day, both are false. We arrived ready for a nice meal but then told "we don't do food". If that's the case stop misleading the public! The place was completely empty which isn't a surprise, you can't run an establishment like that and not do food, makes no business sense at all. It wont last long if it continues not to serve food, and take the bloody signs down!

While staying on Romney Marsh, we were looking for a pub in which to eat on a Wednesday evening and chose this one. As we walked in there were regulars sat at the bar who, quite rightly, continued their conversations amongst themselves after looking round to see if we were people they recognised (we weren’t).The landlord and waiting staff were polite and friendly, the food and drinks were excellent and the atmosphere was exactly what you would expect from a rural pub. What’s not to like?We will happily return again.

Sunday lunch was a good pub lunch. Not exceptional but good solid plain English food. Friendly service. But this pub is in need of some tlc etc. eg the carpet is tired and the conservatory in need of a good clean up and the damp walls treated. The children's garden did look nice though. That said, the food was such that we would return when in the area.

Tonight was a return visit to this pub and, yet again, we was not disappointed. We received a warm welcome from the Landlord and shown to our table. Knowing how generous the portions are we decided to skip a starter. Three of us ordered liver and bacon and I ordered the pork ribs in bbq sauce. All I can say is WOW. All beautifully cooked and presented. The liver and pork just melted in your mouth.Next we went for bread and butter pudding, raspberry Pavlova and black forest gateau. Absolutely beautiful. The service was impeccable and so friendly and helpful. Couldn't do enough for us.A couple near us had the mixed seafood platter and chicken kebab skewers and both meals looked brilliant. We will be returning. The prices are very reasonable all round.Give this pub a try. You will not regret it.

This was our first visit to The Rose And Crown and it was an enjoyable one. The Landlord was very friendly and made us feel welcome. As the sun was out we made the most of it and sat out in the garden at the rear of the pub. There was a good choice on the menu, and also a specials board. The waitress was very friendly and brought our food out to us in the garden shortly after we had ordered. The food we had was very nice and well presented, and we will be visiting again.

A cherfull landllord and an excellent choice of good old fashioned British food did everything to enhance a day with horrible weather. They only had IPA on draught but it was very good. Yet another good Kentish pub for the list.

After much searching for a Bank Holiday Sunday lunch we finally tried the Rose and Crown; even though it was not even our fifth choice after bad experiences some years ago, all my party were amazed by the accommodating attitude, wonderful but simple main courses and desserts on offer. I had not seen liver and bacon on any menu for many a year and when it arrived it was a sumptuous feast and brought back many schoolboy memories. My friends who ordered the beef roast were astonished to see that they were similar to juicy mini steaks. We were very much surprised to find the Rose and Crown, a homely old fashioned pub, much improved, we shall definitely be going again. Service was excellent throughout and was accompanied with a lovely smiling waitress - well done

Place was dirty, last persons food all over the floor. Food arrived at different times for each of us, was cold in some cases and the staff didn't wish to engage with any complaints even when food was missing. Went elsewhere in town and will not return again.
