The home of the finest bacon sarnie I’ve ever had…just down the road from the statue of Arthur over the bridge. Great value, took the other half back there a few weeks later and the bacon, chicken and avocado was stuffed full and delicious!

Our visit today was 4th July 2024. Excellent food. The panini with home made roasted vegetables was so tasty and full of goodness. There was so much to choose from on the menu. The service was first class and the staff so friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was very relaxing and the restaurant spotlessly clean. We could even bring our greyhound in. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend and can't wait to return.

We had finished our day in Winchester and decided to go in here for a cup of tea and a cake before parting ways. My friend ordered then we sat down, the table needed cleaning, I assumed the person bringing drinks would tidy it but a very surly girl brought our tea and banged it down on the table and walked away. I asked her If she could clean it, she came back and dabbed it with a not very clean cloth and left. The cakes didn’t arrive but I didn’t mind as I wasn’t sure about her touching them anyway. When we went to pay my friend mentioned she had forgotten the cakes. She said”well d’you want them now” which was odd as we were leaving. A miserable little place with unfriendly staff and an overall feeling of being a bit grubby.

Food was quite good but very mixed service. We were served by 2 youngish girls, one was delightful, the other couldn’t even crack a smile, smouldered resentment and should not have been anywhere near customers! Coffee took an age to come (we think it was dumped on someone else’s table - another story). No where near as good as a few years ago, shame, we wouldn’t go back.

We used to love this patisserie as it provided loose leaf tea and even a mini pastry with your tea for free. The menu stated that the 2 teas we ordered were supreme ceylon and supreme early grey tea loose leaf from the Char teashop(which is not far from this patisserie). When it came we received 2 pots each with a teabag. My husband's tea was not ceylon but English breakfast. When I questioned the staff about this I was told that we don't do loose leaf anymore. I felt I was an annoyance to the staff for raising the matter. I pointed out that they should change what the menu says if it is not loose leaf as stated and from Char teashop. No body told us this was the case when we ordered the tea. There was no reaction from the girl . Later I raised the matter again and was barked at with a reply "we will change it". There was no apology at all . The girl also said that English breakfast tea was the same as Ceylon tea! The staff are all very young and we do wonder if they will bother to change the menu. Who is in charge here? They are not interested and like other reviews say there are plenty of other places where the staff are more cued up on customer service.

Poor welcome at 2.pm when we walked in the door to be greeted with 'No lunch, just drink and cake' I smiled and said that was fine. It took a long time for them to take our order. Coffee was lovely, cakes were very dry at the edges. Ww were horrified to be told we couldn't use the toilet because the girl had just put bleach in it. ie she was cleaning before closing time and wanted a quick get away on a Friday afternoon. Our receipt shows we paid on our way out at 2.30pm a full half hour before closing time. Poor customer service. We won't ever return. Very disappointing.

I'm afraid it was awful . Hardly any salmon. The toast burnt. Really overpriced for something basic. I wanted to call to tell them - how awful our experience was... but no answer.. Coffee cold

We ate in on a weekday lunchtime, The food was tasty and the decor was nice but overall everything felt very disorganised. The table we were sat at was really sticky and wonky, couldn’t put any weight on it or or toppled to one side. There was a sign saying “please wait to be seated” but no one came so in the end we just asked if we could sit down. Menus were thrown at us without a single word as we sat down. Food was running low, tried to order something but were told after the fact they were out of mozzarella. Heard two other tables be told they were also out of chicken and another table pork. I ordered a tuna and sweetcorn sandwich but it was more like tuna mayo with sweetcorn thrown on top, not mixed in at all so the sweetcorn was falling out and difficult to eat. It was tasty though. The smoothie I had was also really nice. Food came out quickly which was a plus but the table service was pretty much non existent, the girls in the kitchen were all huddled around eachother making food and no one was really attending to the tables, just dashing back and forth as quickly as possible taking orders and bringing out food. I had to wait for a few minutes at the counter just to ask for an extra set of cutlery as no one noticed me for ages. I don’t think the place would be wheelchair accessible; it was narrow with a pushchair. No disabled toilet or baby change facilities. But another plus was the food was affordable and not too expensive! Didn’t have any cakes but they looked nice.

I've had take out food from this shop twice. The first time was a few weeks ago when I was in a hurry between work places and needed something quickly. That was a big disappointment. This time I was also in a rush and didn't have time to head further into the city to go somewhere else. Ordered something entirely different from my first visit but was equally disappointed. The food was not seasoned, very average quality (think own brand bagged supermarket salad) with half moons of cucumber and a few wedges of tomato. Croutons were enormous and almost impossible to eat. Pine nuts and onion marmalade totally absent. The takeaway carton kept opening in transit and the young lady who served me had to ask someone else the answer to my questions - person number two called over her shoulder rather than turn to speak to me, indifference personified. What I asked for didn't materialise in the box either, so all in all a really poor experience and not one I shall attempt a third time. Note to self: next time, walk a bit further and find something better.

Visiting Winchester for the first time on a day trip a tasty lunch was required so we asked a local where to go so this place was recommended. I had the home produced pork pie with salad, Dijon mustard and chutney helped down with a banana milk shake which my wife had a cappuccino with a slice of cake. I finished with a chocolate cake. We both agreed the food was great and cheaper than similar such places locally to where we live. Staff young and service could have been better but they were doing their best. As time progresses they will improve with experience. We all had to learn somehow. The important thing was the food quality was very acceptable.

I am guessing this place has changed hands fairly recently. It used to be a place you could rely on for delicious food and good service. With hardly anyone in the place there seemed to be a 15 minute wait for a coffee, served with a lukewarm hot chocolate into which the marshmallows had long since melted. The indifferent waitress served the drinks with an "enjoy" that sounded more like we were being cursed!!My coffee was fine but the tart citron was almost tasteless. The hot chocolate was as I described earlier. A party of 3 women, in at the same time, asked if they had been forgotten.Great shame and the place needs to buck its ideas up if it wants to survive.

I’ve been visiting for a number of years - mainly due to the fantastic cakes. In recent years the prices have increased noticeably and today I experienced their new crockery - I have never seen such small cup (the three sip cappuccino). The service is appalling, three teenage boys swanning around waiting for their Mum to come in and save the day. Waited over half an hour for a Danish pastry and a cheese croissant - clearly no man can make a micro cappuccino last that long. Gave up waiting for my complicated order and, on expressing my disappointment, was told by head boy it wasn’t his fault as they were really busy - clearly putting a pastry on a plate is more complicated than I thought.

The last time I went, it all went well, but yesterday was very poor. We waited by the counter for a few minutes, and a lady eventually said she would be with us in a few minutes. I asked if we should order from the counter and she told us to sit down as it was waitress service. After about 5 minutes, she came in and served a gentleman with a drink and sat down and chatted to him. After another 5 minutes, I went back to the counter and ordered what we wanted from the other lady, and about 5 minutes later it arrived. I was staggered at the treatment we received. Having walked past this place on the way into the centre, looking for a coffee, we came back, deciding that although its location wasn't perfect (on a far from picturesque corner), it was the most interesting looking, and also independent.

Had a leisurely ciabatta-type pizza with goats cheese and roast veggies today with a fresh salad which was lovely and exactly what I needed after endless Christmas shopping. Friendly service and good, hot coffee. Delicious looking cakes too, but no room in my tum ...

Great place to eat. Had savouries with some friends at lunchtime which were delicious, Quick service. Understandably very popular place with locals. At the far end of town, just passed King Alfred's statue - well worth the extra few yards of walking down from the main high street. Good prices. Owner/Chef now back from maternity so back to normal high quality food again, DO TRY IT!

I had the chicken, bacon and avocado sandwich. Absolutely brimming with delicious filling. Presentation good - fresh salad& crisps too. Despite being extremely busy service was efficient and friendly. My friends were pleased with their food. The meat pie was highly praised. Highly recommend this Patisserie. My peppermint tea was good quality loose leaf contained in a sieve - and in a mug! Lovely.

This was my second visit (I literally work over the bridge) but decided I would have a little treat today. I got a very yum and well cooked panini, you may think that odd but I find it infuriating that most coffee shops undercook their paninis! Also the coffee was really delicious, but what really pushed me to write this review was the top notch citron au tarte! not only did it look good it tasted delicious. The lemon curd was absolutely perfect, I will definitely be coming back and bringing friends. I believe the young lady that served me was responsible for the tarte, please keep up the good work!

Called here on a cold winter's afternoon, having just visited the nearby Mill. Lovely atmosphere and scrummy looking pastries (which turned out to taste just that), but the service was disjointed and slow. A shame, otherwise the rating could have been higher.

At the bottom of the city, this super gem is easily missed.

Went in late lunchtime to get takeaway coffees and brie and bacon french breads. No one serving behind the counter on a saturday lunchtime. Finally a young girl got up from having her lunch to take our order. She put the french breads in the oven and sat down to finish her lunch asking another waitress to make the coffee. After 5 mins she got up and gave us the breads. The coffee had not been started even though the waitress was not actually doing anything - just standing about. The phone rang and she then chatted away on the phone and wandered into the back of the kitchen area. My husband asked a young guy if we could get the coffee made before the food got cold and he put out 2 takeaway cups and wandered off! The waitress got off the phone after 5 mins and made the coffee which was actually very nice. It took a good 20-25mins to get coffee and takeaway which is ridiculous as it was not busy and there were staff who just didn't seem to want to help. While we were there a man walked in and waited a while and left as no one was behind the counter to sell him anything. There seemed to be no management at all and the staff just didn't care at all which is a shame as the food is ok.

Walking into Winchest, the rain started, so we popped in here for a coffee, and stayed for lunch! And it was really splendid - a warm bacon salad and avocado and roasted vegetables - really good. So 5 stars here!

Quick breakfast with the family. Good sausage and bacon sandwich and very good croissant. Very good coffee. Milkshake not the best. Art on the walls a nice distraction. Lovely presentation of goodies in the window drew us in.

Bank Holiday Monday 1 May 201, after visiting Winchester City Mill, my husband and I were by now were in need of refreshment. We found a nice little cafe just a short walk over the bridge called ‘The Bridge Patisserie’.

I was inspired to write this review by seeing a Greggs eating numpty slamming the place for price. Yeah, they're not cheap but you're paying for quality ingredients and an amazing product which is value for money. For less than a fiver you're getting a huge sweet treat with complex flavours, a very satisfying, delightfully flaky pastry and a very satisfying and filling experience. If you want a hit of sugar and bland white, air filled bread? There are cheaper options! You won't get a limp chicken pasty here. If you want extremely satisfying bread made with high quality flour and an amazing crust? If you want tasty, sweet pastries with a delicious zing? If you love good food rather than ultra processed? Then this won't bust your budget and will fill you up. The venue itself is a warehouse with some benches other branches are much nicer.

Well said clearly on receipt espresso on the side. Obviously cannot read. Coffee was vile so returned and got snapped at. Won't be coming back here.

Have not been here since pre Covid. Other reviews were not so good, but we had no complaints. We were early on a Sunday morning so although quite a few people the service was not slow. The coffee was excellent, and the carrot cake jolly tasty. The toilets were very clean. For me I trod carefully on the terrace which did look a bit slippery.

Excellent as always, delicious food, reasonably priced, I wish I’d had room for a pud. Lamb shank is a treat, tender as anything with proper veg.
