I visited there with my two young children and my mum for a drink and a cake. I ordered two luxury hot chocolates, two fudge cakes and two snow men cupcakes for my children. The order arrived incorrectly at the table without the fudge cakes and an extra hot chocolate that I hadn’t ordered but had paid for. I received a refund for the extra hot chocolate by staff member that was very polite. I then waited for the fudge cakes to arrive and realised that they were not on their way. I approach the counter to raise the question ‘where are the fudge cakes that I had ordered’ to a staff member. This person showed me the receipt and my total order was on there and paid for. The lady then told me that I hadn’t paid for the cakes and that I needed to. At this point I was frustrated with the service and did not feel it was my need to pay for the fudge cakes again as they were clearly on the receipt, she showed me. From this moment Leona, who claims to be the ‘owner’ of the Orangery very rudely and unprofessionally in a confrontational way aggressively spoke to me saying ‘I am not giving them away you have still got to pay for them Are you expecting freebies?’ I was and am completely dumfounded and shakingly shocked at her customer service, her behaviour and attitude towards me. I responded with wanting a refund and said that I was going to leave at which she asked me to bring back the snow man cupcakes to which my children had already eaten, and she told me to ‘get the children to regurgitate the cakes’. All of her communication was confrontational, argumentative, aggressive and intimidating and it was a floor show for the customers who were present. There was a significant number of people who witnessed this as the café was busy. I walked away and told my family we were leaving. I was visibly distressed, shaking with anger at the way I had been spoken to and treated as a paying customer by Leona. I took the hot chocolate that I hadn’t drank back to get a refund to which Leona very stroppily without any communication and atrocious behaviour completed the refund. I then went back to collect my family to leave, and I could visibly and audibly see Leona ‘slagging’ me off to staff members in front of other customers. She was gesticulating with her hands in a grand fashion about me. As I left I approached her to say that I was able to hear and see what she was saying about me and she said in an aggressive, chavvy way that ‘yeah she asked me what happened so I told her’ I am absolutely appalled and lost for words at the service, approach and professionalism of Leona who claims she is the ‘owner’ of the Orangery tea rooms. During this confrontational situation I became aware that other staff members appeared fearful of her as they were apologising profusely to me for the way Leona was behaving and the lady who was trying to give me the refund was stuttering and extremely nervous. I wonder what it must be like to work with the ‘owner’ of the Orangery rooms who behaves in such an atrocious manner towards paying customers. I want to clarify that the other members of staff where extremely apologetic for Leona’s behaviour and treated me as I would expect to be treated.

Visited with my daughter and grandchildren. Absolutely terrible service. Manger, leona , claimed to be the ‘owner’ treated my daughter with the upmost disgrace, unprofessionalism and argumentative aggressive behaviour. Actually asked for my grandchildren to regurgitate their cupcakes… who actually does that. … would absolutely not recommend this cafe and actually leona needs to try a different career as she is clearly not able to support customers. Terrible terrible service from Leona.

Very poor, the layout is very crammed and stuffy. There is no life inside, when my food arrived the poached eggs were hard in the middle and not runny as they should be. The food took ages to come out as well.

I regularly come here for brunch, and the food is always spot on. They have always been very accommodating of my dietary requests, and the cake portions are generous. Staff overall are very friendly. As others have highlighted, it can be incredibly noisy even when just a few tables are dining, yet when it’s quiet there’s no music playing so atmosphere is a bit lacking. Overall a good spot for breakfast or lunch if in the area or in need of garden centre wares.

Good food, staff ok, if not a little distant. Cafe clean & tidy, prices a little steep for what is really meant to be a 'garden centre'. But then again, it's been growing over the years so has to be paid for. Not my first choice for a breakfast treat but nearly.

We have visited here many times before but this time we were very disappointed to find the food was totally inadequate. The chips had been totally over cooked so that there was very little to no potato left inside. Very unappealing. The egg on the Ham, Egg and Chips meal was under cooked. We also ordered Peach iced tea which had no flavour what so ever. A very disappointing visit. Definitely will not be eating there again any time soon.

We went to Garsons for some plants and decided to have a late breakfast. We had Soup of the day (pea & mint) and bacon and poached eggs. The menu was limited if you are gluten intolerant. The surrounding were pleasant and the food was lovely as were the staff, our only complaint was that the cutlery looked cloudy/dull as was the coffee glass (maybe dishwasher residue) I asked in we could have a replacement soup spoon as that was not very nice and was told that's how they come (see photo). I would not accept this cutlery at home so I don't expect this when I go out and pay a reasonable price for food.

The food is excellent, at first I thought it was overpriced but when it came out, I understood that price point. They best halloumi burger I've ever had, the chips were also up there. The coffee disappointed a little as we ordered 2 flat whites but they were exceptionally foamy, although they did have latte art which was in itself impressive, still 5 star but if you're charging speciality coffee prices, the quality in production of microfoam needs to be there.

Sunday 26th November 2pm Waited over 45mins to have a cup of tea and a cake. Every table in the cafe had dirty crockery on it, when a young girl did come out to clear some she cleared on to a large table and left the table full of dirty crockery and food. Arrived with a sponge and a cleaning bottle and cleaned one table leaving it soaking wet. She then went back towards the kitchen and never came back. People were either like us clearing our own tables or walking away. Shambles and frankly not what you would expect from a food establishment. Would not recommend, shame as lovely garden centre.

Nothing special, extremely over priced for what it is. Grumpy staff who all seemed very not interested in anything. Very protective over the napkins too… got told they come out with the food when I asked for one to clean up a spillage. If there is a sign saying you need a table number before you order, this isn’t obvious… causing a number of people (including us) to go off to find a table while holding up the queue. Might as well spend an extra 2 minutes driving down the road to a pub.

Honestly doesn't even deserve a 1 star rating. My husband had a full English breakfast which he wasn't happy with - the hash browns were not cooked but the rest was overdone and cold. My eggs Benedict generally put me off eating the rest. The hollandaise just tasted like mayonnaise so it wasn't fresh by any means and the egg was so snotty I felt sick. Don't recommend. I hadn’t been here for some time and forgot you have to find a table first before ordering. So we got to the till and then had to QuickTime find a table no. When we had given the no and ordered we went to the table to find someone else had that table, embarrassing. My daughter found that it told you on the menu to find a table first. We were just having coffee so why would we need the menu. Wouldn’t it be more sensible to have a notice at the entrance of the restaurant. The staff are not particularly friendly and I know that these places are short staffed, but that doesn’t mean you can’t be pleasant. I’m going to Silver Springs next time which is just before Garson.

Used to come here for years before lockdown. Came for lunch today and so disappointed. Complicated start, trying to find a menu and find a table number at the same time. That system needs a review. Did not have what was on the menu. Why can’t they put up a notice saying what they haven’t got? Food overpriced and very dull. Tons of dry bread and hunted for the cheese in our sourdough sandwich. Visited on the 15th February. The restaurant was cold. There was no heating on. I asked the staff to put the heating on, I just got a funny look. The customers were sat around with scarfs or coats on. The staff were rubbing their hands together to try and keep warm. The food was good but it was too cold to sit around and stay for coffee and cake which is a shame because the cakes did look good. I suggest only visiting on a warm day in summer or put your base layers on before setting out.

Appalling service today. We sat down chose food, my mother and I went to order wait 10mins in que (4people in front of us) no issue (my 75yr old dad and 2yr old son sat at table) we order all food and drink told 30min wait for food say OK, and I take drinks back to table as mother pays. She is told as her card is in the reader that they have no eggs so comes over to ask my father what he'd like instead and re chose for herself no more than 1min later she returns to the same lady at the till to be told she will have to re join the que which is now 8-10 people long! How can the fact that you had no eggs be our fault and have to que for I'm guessing at least if not far more than another 10mins for your mistake. I asked to speak to the manager at this point which was apparently the lady on the till she still was convinced we'd have to rejoin the back of the que as far as we were concerned we had placed our order and just needed to change 2 of the 4 meals due to your issue! When asked if she was happy to lose 4 customers she shrugged and said there's nothing else I can do. Absolutely disgusting customer service and feel sorry for the lovely garden centre

I was inspired to write this review by seeing a Greggs eating numpty slamming the place for price. Yeah, they're not cheap but you're paying for quality ingredients and an amazing product which is value for money. For less than a fiver you're getting a huge sweet treat with complex flavours, a very satisfying, delightfully flaky pastry and a very satisfying and filling experience. If you want a hit of sugar and bland white, air filled bread? There are cheaper options! You won't get a limp chicken pasty here. If you want extremely satisfying bread made with high quality flour and an amazing crust? If you want tasty, sweet pastries with a delicious zing? If you love good food rather than ultra processed? Then this won't bust your budget and will fill you up. The venue itself is a warehouse with some benches other branches are much nicer.
