We tried to book on the phone to be told they only take bookings online, so we did that. On arrival the staff seemed flustered despite it not being busy. They took our drinks order and then left us standing at the bar not knowing where to sit - we had to ask and were told we could sit anywhere. The service was poor but no one's fault in particular - it seems no one had been trained. Examples included, not being told what had sold out (not a problem as we were eating late, but would have been good to know before we had chosen), not understanding that we wanted the all food together (we had ordered some starters for one of the party as none of the main courses were they wanted were available) despite asking two different people, not clearing our plates once finished, not offering any desert menus. It all seemed like everyone was a little confused! The food itself was average and overpriced for what you get - more priced towards a gastro pub. Overall, if only the owners took a little more pride and trained their staff, this could be a cracking pub!

Lovely cosy english pub, perfect spot for an easy birthday lunch. Very friendly staff and lovely christmassy atmosphere. The menu is simple but the food was great! 👏🏻

The Staff are friendly if a little unprofessional . The food menus is very limited and overpriced for the standard of food . Best I can say is it’s ok but check out menus before you book

Beautiful old pub but hygiene is suspect. It has charm and style and clearly very popular with locals. We had a salmon and unfortunately found 2 flies in the sauce...these things happen but it indicates lax hygiene standards

The service was excellent, the atmosphere warm and cosy and the staff friendly. Food was good too. Great venue after a walk around the lanes of St Lawrence!

I local to this pub and the landlady was rude often and unwelcoming. It was quite a clicky environment and you would try to make pleasantrys and jnteract and she would often coldly ignore or begrudgingly respond to you. it's a lovely little pub in a beautiful area it's a shame its run by such unwelcoming and low customer services as it has such potential with its location. As we all know a pub is only as good as its owners and customer services and welcoming others especially locals is key. A few locals have stopped drinking In this pub for this reason. Okay if you just encounter the staff who are nice but not If you encounter the frosty landlady

MISERABLE If you’re thinking of popping in for a coffee I would suggest walking 2 seconds further to Costa. The business has been taken over by new owners and subsequently employed all new staff. Customer service is appalling, very rude and unfriendly. If you’d like your drink made within 20 minutes I would suggest getting behind the counter and making it yourself and as for hygiene I , I wouldn’t even let my dog eat in there. The final straw for me was the chunk of milk swimming in the bottom of my drink. I was actually sick outside of my car. As I said Costa is two seconds up the road and staff are always so pleasant.

Yet another lackluster dining experience. Hiring a more skilled chef could greatly improve the quality, as the food currently falls short—even compared to a funfair kiosk.
