We called in for a coffee and a tea late one afternoon - and the drinks were thoroughly good. The cafe was fairly quiet and the service was of high quality.

Gail’s Bakery in Farnham is my favourite place in Farnham to chill & have a quality coffee. The staff are always friendly the coffee is consistently great. I definitely recommend the seeded sourdough which I buy regularly, It really is great toasted. I’ve also recently tried their porridge with maple syrup seeds & blueberries honestly it’s amazing.

Gales Cafe in Farnham is the best place for those who value quality, delicious pastries and friendly, fast service. This cafe always has a large assortment of extremely tasty sweet and savory pastries, various salads, sandwiches and fabulous drinks. It is important to me that there is a significant selection of salty products for vegetarians. A special thanks to those who work in this wonderful cafe - it's so nice to see these kind, smiling faces. Good luck to you from grateful customers!

Nipped in for a brew, came out with a sausage roll and an almond croissant. So great at misdirection and expert in baking.

Lovely bakery selling delicious (really delicious) baked goods. This is one of my favourite bakeries locally. Amazing choice of cakes and very friendly staff. Worth a visit if you're nearby.

The most AMAZING SAUSAGE ROLLS IN THE WORLD (I really don’t know what planet the other reviewer was on calling them tasteless…) However apologies Gail’s but only 4 stars as on my previous 3 visits the sausage rolls were sold out :-(

Very unwelcoming. No smiles not greeting. Bought almond croissant, chocolate cookie and sausage roll. Very expensive for takeaway price. Almond croissant - £3.60, sausage tool - £4.00 and choc cookie £2.60z. No prices were displayed. Sausage rolls tasteless. Would not recommend this establishment.

Visited Gail’s bakery last Thursday late afternoon Staff made me feel very welcomed even though they were closing not long after the food was excellent, you could see it was freshly baked. A big thank you to the staff that served me has that was the best service received for a long time. I definitely recommend a visit.

Terrible! Came at 9:00.. no porridge available for another 1/2 an hour, no bacon, dippy egg arrived with no dip (over-cooked). When I complained about the eggs the chef said the “oven is dodgy”. I went to the toilet and it wasn’t clean (I would have been the first customer to use this- bins were full, sink a mess, loo seat was up with pee everywhere). I was also over-charged where a random item had been added to my bill. Terrible organisation. Really gone downhill. What a shame.

Queues of people so popular - took ages to get in but lots of goodies to choose from. For me, rather out of my price range. Yet for those looking for something different, a good stop off place.

I was served by the lovely Kirsty, she was welcoming and attentive. She gave great recommendations and the treats were spectacular! I will definitely be retuning to Gail’s in the near future!

Gail’s really need to start accepting cash payments again. Queuing 15 minutes for a loaf of bread only to be told I can only pay by card isn’t really ideal. During the pandemic it was understandable, but now it feels it’s just more convenient for Gail’s over the customers. I like Gail’s but will be going elsewhere in this basis.

We visited gails for brunch on a busy Sunday morning. Very helpful, generous who go above and beyond to make your visit enjoyable. Thank you!

BEST CAFE IN FARNHAM!! Gails is an absolutely fantastic place to sit, unwind and enjoy first class coffee and cakes. It is a happy and friendly environment with a brilliant team of youngsters, who go out of their way to make you feel welcomed. The customer service is spot on and I cannot fault their efforts to deliver first class service. Unfortunately I have seen some bad reviews on here which I feel are the complete opposite to what I see as a daily customer in Gail’s. I hope those who see my review will come and find out just how amazing this cafe truly is.

What a lovely place for breakfast. The team here were all so lovely. I had an excellent espresso and their baked eggs with bacon. The baked eggs were outstanding served piping hot in a ramekin with just the right amount of sour dough toast soldiers.

I have been to Farnham Gails twice and waited for a table. They ask you to clear your own table and then nobody sanitises the table in between uses and if they do have to clear tables they just wave off any crumbs by hand.......

I have been a big fan of Gails for a while especially the ones in south west london, near to where I live.We were on our way to a brewery visit (Hogs Back - absolutely fantastic btw) the nearest train station is Farnham so we decided on a Gail's breakfast as we have always had a good experience.We were welcomed by a lovely staff member who took our coffee and breakfast order. Then the manager appeared ordering us around and speaking to the staff in an pretty unkind manner, he was abrupt and unfriendly. It really changed the tone of our visit. I have no idea whyhe needs to be so be so aggressive and abrupt It wasnt just us feeling uneasy. But I cant speak for others. Tbe Gails in Farnham is a world away from the local, welcoming and friendly ones in I have experienced before. A really sad experience Great chain, awful manager (I'm aware this is my first review on this site, It is only because the manager was so horrible to us and the staff and other customers that I felt it was necessary to write)

Quality of food superb, shame about a staff member who spoilt the visit with his condescending attitude as he tried to enlighten me that we were in the middle of a pandemic. I think he may have been helping out at the counter, as he did put on an apron, while I waited for my coffees. Gail’s Farnham could make better use of outdoor space like other coffee shops in town, now that sitting indoors isn’t an option. These can be safely spaced. I tried to suggest this but got a sarcastic response.I have supported Gail’s ever since opening but I guess it is now more of a takeaway so regretfully I will now look elsewhere.

Really tasty food! Quite expensive but good for Farnham and in my opinion worth the money. The staff are always lovely. I come every now and then for a lunch treat and never have been disappointed which you get in some of the chain stores. I recommend the sausage roll or the chicken harrissa bun. Also had a Pesto toastie once which was lovely. It is quite small out the back to sit but much nicer vibe than other loud places in Farnham. Also been with pushchair and they were very accommodating.

I have given this place several chances, hoping for a good experience but it is consistently dirty, with uncleared tables, cardboard boxes and other stuff stored in odd corners of the cafe, and a filthy food strewn floor. In summer the lovely looking pastries are made less appetising by the number of flies left sitting on them. On one occasion when I enquired after cheese scones, the assistant replied that they didn’t sell them. When I pointed to the obviously cheesy looking scones, she explained that they weren’t cheese, they were gruyere! Says it all really!

Wonderful coffee? Brilliant bites. The sourdough bread is just heavenly. Everything tasted to date has been perfect. Great staff; friendly and welcoming.

i love this place...the food is fab and so too is the coffee...the sourdough i took home was the best i've had.

We went today and although the coffee was ok, there was a lot that wasn't. The cake although tasty was expensive. The floor was filthy and sticky. Dirty dishes were left on tables. The toilet looked as if it hadn't been cleaned for a while. This could be such a great place, but it gives the impression that management is non-existent there.

Always a fabulous selection of bread and cakes here to take home. Eating in is also great. Lovely hot coffee too!

I love the coffee and the food is delicious, the staff are polite and friendly ! However the systems in place for eating-in service need reviewing, it seems unorganised. We waited so long just for a pastry and coffee, very frustrated as I had to check several times, and reassured it was on its way .... why didn’t the staff just give us the pastries straight away ? There appears to be some rather ridiculous procedure, where food is moved and shifted several times before making it to our table - note to self ! Take away only !!!Please review your service procedures, as I would like to eat in !

Very enjoyable brunch this morning. Greeted by lovely staff. We had mushrooom, goats cheese on toast topped with an egg and bacon. All fantastic. Bigger plates would help as its difficult not have mushrooms flying all the place. Will definitely go back.

Amazing cakes and breakfasts, super yummy, service is always amazing staff really seem to care, don't get me wrong prices on the slightly high side but central location significantly better than high street chains and mindblowingly good cakes!

Fabulous product. The service is wrong on so many levels. I don’t blame the staff it is down to head office and the overall store manager.

I usually choose where I can to support the independant rather than the chain store. Was heading for the multiple next door when I saw this shop. Only wanted coffee but the service was friendly and teh coffee great. The baking look very good and obvioulsy most if not all was being done on site.

Gail’s has great bakery products and the coffee is quite good but in my opinion the cafe has been in decline since it opened. The service is really poor and the place is seriously dirty. The crockery is clean, the cutlery is just about acceptable, the tables are rarely clean and the floor is always filthy. I don’t know how the five staff working there at 10am in the morning can operate in such a dirty environment. I can only assume they are not proud of the brand or their customer satisfaction. You need to close and deep clean everything. Listen to what people say because I’m not the first to comment on the filth.

Good place for coffee of a savoury, nice attentive service, clean and tidy but probably the most expensive coffee shop in Farnham and what they have doesn't really justify the premium pricing

We've been here twice in the past month; once just for coffee and once to eat some of the delicious savouries that Gail has created (not sure which one is Gail, but she can certainly bake!).

It is always a plesasure to visit Gail's, in my opinion it's by far the best bakery farnham has to offer.

Thought I would try somewhere new. I expect places to be busy on a Saturday but waited an age to be served to order my flat white, then another age for it to arrive. The food on display looked very tasty but also very expensive. Wouldn't have minded the wait if I got good coffee but it was very bitter and far too hot. I don't think I would return because the inside seating area is very uninspiring as well.

I went to Gail's on Saturday for lunch. It was quite busy, but the service was very quick, extremely friendly and we got a seat really quickly. I had the avocado on toast which was delicious - it was a great size with plenty of avocado, unlike many other places. My friend had a breakfast muffin and the bread usually used for this had run out and they very kindly offered her a choice of bread as soon as we were seated. We took a cinnamon swirl and banana, walnut and chocolate muffin to take away and I cannot rave about these pastries enough. They were amazing! Honestly, the muffin was vegan but didn't taste it at all and was really moist. I can't wait to come back and visit GAIL's again soon :)

Whenever I want some real good quality coffee or breakfast, out of all the places in farnham to choose from, I always head to Gails.

I didn't hear about them before, but what a nice surprise. Great customer service, delicious food and fantastic coffee. I was greeted with a smile and I also left with a smile on my face.

Been here twice now. Had the vegan hot chocolate, absolutely delicious and creamy. Tastes divine. A wide range of breakfast options. I enjoyed the vegetarian sweet corn pancakes. Also smashed avocado on toast is delicious. Would highly recommend.

I've known Gail's for years, and was delighted to find a Gail's Bakery not far from where I live (Guildford). The whole ambience of the cafe/bakery is superb. Plus the range of breads / pastries & savouries are mouthwatering.

Weak tea, no hot chocolate (took the money then no refund offered), brownies so dense that they would serve better as a weapon in a sock, dirty tables and floors despite being relatively empty, filthy cleaning area at the back. Took 10 minutes to bring our 4 cakes, which I had to prompt for, when they arrived they came on two plates. When I asked for more plates they brought one that had a smudge of chocolate still on it. Style over substance for a high price

Popped in for French toast breakfast. Food lovely. Coffee very bitter. Service involved being ordered around as I haven’t been in a Gail’s for a while and they have a slightly unusual system. Wasn’t greeted had to figure out the system and find my own menu to order before sitting down. Table service absolutely indifferent. Seating area constantly blasted by cold air and almost cramped. Baked goods superb but probably won’t eat in again.

This friendly venue is best described as "cosy" as you can expect to be close to others no matter where you sit. The quality is really good if a little pricey for the portion size - but as we visited towards the end of the day the menu choice shrinks noticeably (so go in the morning if you wish to have the full choice) ...

Had a lovely family lunch here, the coffee and food were delicious and the service was fine. Had to wait a long time to order though, both the lunch and when I popped in for takeaway coffee on a different day.

We stopped in at a deserted Gail’s on a Sunday afternoon after a walk in the surrounding area. We were one of two occupied tables. There were at least three staff members milling around, yet there were several tables uncleared, ours included. We took the dirty dishes up to the counter when we ordered- we were not even thanked for doing the staff’s job for them. We then proceeded to wait at least 15 minutes for an Americano, when the cafe was empty. Tired of waiting, I went in to ask where the coffee was, and only then did it appear without any apology for its lateness. Even as I write this review, the table next to us has a stack of dirty cups and plates. We are regulars of our local Gail’s on northcote road in battersea- this one is sadly lacking.

usually friendly people, but today i payed and wasn’t served what i payed for. i saw other guests arrive after me and got their food long before me. its unfortunate.

On first appearances this bakery is exactly what I would look for, there’s a wide selection of baked goods including artisan breads with a variety of sourdough loaves and batons. However today was my fourth visit and once again, I was greeted with an unfriendly and unwelcoming service which prompted me to write this review hoping the management will do something about it. It’s a real shame as the food is fabulous however the staff and service leave little to be desired.

A lovely little artisan bakery with a cafe area. A place for hipsters and the beautiful people. The tables are a little small if you're having more than one piece of cake each. The service is lovely and the food delicious. The portions are generous.

I’d never stopped in at Gail’s before but enjoyed the cake (blueberry cream brioche or what I’d call a danish) so much that I stopped back for lunch. Lunch was a caprese sandwich, toasted, also excellent. All of the food was really tasty and I didn’t see any issue with the service here as others have been noting.

Lovely pastries and cakes, really tasty and unusual and okay, not brilliant, but ok, coffee served by indifferent staff who appear to want to be anywhere but there. I keep coming back in the hope that they have trained or, failing that, recruited better staff, but it continually disappoints. Shame. I love the food, hate going there.

Visited for the first time with friends and very impressed, great coffee, fantastic selection of cakes, will have to go back to try more of them. Definitely worth a visit, but probably difficult to get a table when it's busy.

Another wet afternoon in town and decided to try this as compared to the usual chains.

I was looking for a coffee in Farnham and didn't want to go to one of the "mainstream" chains so I gave Gail's a try. The coffee (I had an americano, black) was really excellent and the little cake I had with it was also fresh and tasty; I would be happy to return here. Service was very friendly but could have been a tad sharper - though as I was definitely not in a hurry this was not an issue for me. The seats, I was on one of the little round ones after moving a couple of times, are not designed for a long stay but as I was here alone I was able to manage. Overall, warmly recommended, it does what it does pretty well.

Amazing coffee with pleasant and fast service. The place has a nice vibe compared to your typical chain coffee shop. Go here and you will not be disappointed

Lovely place and good food but what a strange service operation. As far as I could glean the coffee is dispatched separately from the tea and food. That's why I got my coffee fifteen minutes before my wife's tea and our food arrived.. lots of mention in the trip advisor reviews about service. Is no one reading them? Staff seemed very nice but could do with adopting a sense of urgency. Could have been such a nice experience.

If you don’t mind paying a bit more and sitting on an uncomfortable seat, this is a great place for pastries and coffees. Too often the coffee shops sell stale overly processed pastries which taste nothing like the real thing. Here you can get the genuine article and this is pretty rare.

Visited as a family for lunch. We cleared our own table....my soup arrived 15 minutes before the other food ..... too be fair it was tasty.... when the streaky bacon arrived the fat wasn’t cooked off - think it had been microwaved which makes it unpleasant..... coffee was covered with scum.

As a stop you can’t get better than Gail’s. The food is always great, especially the breakfast and lunch menus. For example bacon and eggs in a muffin, excellent soups and one of the best sausage rolls I have eaten. Great cakes too. Will be back many more times. Only downside is finding a table and tables could probably be better positioned.

I visited back in May. I was planning on having a quinoa or chia pod, however they were sold out, even though it was quite early in the morning. My next option was porridge, they have a large pot of porridge already made with milk, and I prefer plant "milks". So I went for the avocado toast and to be fair, I did not regret my final decision at all. They clearly know how to make bread as their toasted sourdough was on point. Paired with the delicious creamy smashed avocado with toasted seeds and tomato relish on side (seriously tasty), it was a very filling breakfast. I sadly don't have the money to visit more often, but I think I'd like to return some day.

I called in prior to a meeting. When I arrived at 8.30 on Friday morning, there were 3 customers and 4 staff. The lady on front of me started ordering a lot of food to go. The third lady was collecting a to go coffee. Eventually someone came over to serve me but the till had not been booted up....... Eventually I ordered some food and a tea to eat in...... I sat down, took ny coat off, sat in the middle of the restaurant. I was the only person in the place. Outnumbered by staff. Ten minutes later, no tea, no food. Meeting looming. I went over to the coofee machine and spoke to the member of staff who actually took my order. Am I being served? I queried. Oh I don't look after that section, I was told. I demanded my money back , preferring to go hungry than pay to be treated with such disdain. I suggest the staff in Gails have some quality training on customer service. I received nothing like service and went hungry for the next few hours of a business meeting.

I started going to Gails solely because they do Oat milk with their coffees, and it just so happened that their coffee is really good! I come here in the mornings and afternoons to come and work, and I find its often quite busy in the morning and finding a table can be a bit of a challenge - the seating is a little crowded - but when its quieter its a great place to work and theres lots of plugs to charge laptops & phones etc.

Like Rich L’s review “gone downhill” wobbly / uncleared tables, (it wasn’t even busy). I generally have to ask for my cappuccino to be made hotter. My last visit was awful - all of the above plus unswept floor and lots of little flies around.Not an enjoyable experience.

The moment you walk through the door, the smell makes you hungry. The food smells amazing and is a real taste bud treat - the hot chocolate is like drinking a mousse - thick and creamy.
