Costa Coffee in Waverley

I have coffee in Costa every day, sometimes twice. Staff are always friendly and efficient. Love it.

Bizarre. The staff in here are very friendly and clearly work hard. However, I went in and asked for a skimmed milk based drink. They told me they ‘only had full fat milk today’. The cafe is 5 steps away from a Sainsbury’s which must have a 100litres of slimmed milk. Why not just go and buy some? I left the store and bought a coffee elsewhere. Crazy.

Went to get a coffee today earlier today had checked website stated it was open bck was closed very disappointing

Absolutely shocking, haven’t been here in years and today’s trip reminded me why. Ridiculously slow service for 2 pots of tea and when they arrived one of the tea pots was filthy, like it had completely missed the dishwasher or had been stuck at the back of a mouldy cupboard for 6 months. Staff seemed generally pissed off and the place was filthy, cobwebs everywhere and the table we sat at hadn’t been cleaned. Not good, won’t be returning and certainly won’t be recommending to anyone. A place to avoid at all costs.

Says opened on Tuesday 11:30 arrived and store was shut. Already paid for parking!

Never know when it’s open anymore , closed at weekends all a bit strange atm

You just never know when this place is going to be open. Shut last Sunday, this Monday, closes at lunch and mid afternoon regularly. Toilets are a disgrace and even though service is usually efficient & friendly, this place cannot be deserving of more than one star. Various other independents who manage to stick to their opening days/times and generally serve better coffee.

We arrived at 4:30 but of course could not get a hot toaster as kitchen and everything set up to close down. Could not get a hot toastie. Girls were polite but frustrated that doing a toast or would not have taken long. But staff were already packing up

Lovely people who work there. high prices for little in return. And very little option towards a healthy product. Most are processed with sugars and none are really very healthy. They use to have a bit better options but nothing vegan or vegetarian that are healthy. And the meat options are very high in sugar. Disappointing when their competitors knock it out the park.

Lovely friendly staff, although they forgot a coffee on our order. No hot chocolate which was a real shame.

I would give no stars if I was able to. Filthy dirty. I stopped for a coffee with my 2 year old granddaughter- tables not cleaned and dirty ashtrays everywhere. How clean can the kitchen be? Will never go back

I have been in many Costa Coffee shops over the years, the majority of which all you could say is "its a Coffee shop what more do you expect" however the Costa Coffee shop in Cranleigh is clearly different all the staff are fantastic they are friendly and helpful and above all if they see that you have a mobility issue or have a large amount of shopping with you (or for that matter a couple of young children) they always offer to bring your order to your table. On leaving the store whichever member of staff is on the till will always say thank you for your custom and enjoy the rest of your day. I would happily give the Cranleigh Village Surrey Costa Coffee shop and all the staff 10 Gold Stars. New team of staff now since I posted original review however I am pleased to state that the review remains the same

Fairly quick even though were busy, polite staff

Braved a Costa Coffee today, pleasant atmosphere, friednly staff, a pity the coffee wasn't great. A Costa signature Espresso and textured milk, signed off with a little heart, more like a white americano, with the texture of water.

I went for a Too good to go remainder of food at the end of the day and was presented with the pitiful offering below. I was assured I would be getting hand made salads, sandwiches and cakes that would otherwise be thrown away. I don't see anything that matches that description. I hope they buck their ideas up soon or Too good to go will be Too bad to go!

Normally the quality across Costa outlets is pretty consistent. However i hadn’t frequented the Cranleigh outlet for a couple of years. I ordered my usual Cortado today obviously to take away due to the pandemic 😷 I walked back to the car and took a sip - it was hotter than a nuclear reactor and definitely did not taste of a Cortado at all. The worst cup of coffee I think I’ve had in years. Time to cross this place off the list

Brilliant coffee and cake as usual. Service excellent and superb Covid restrictions and policies in place.

Really disappointed, I was given a cows milk latte when I ordered almond milk. As a lactose intolerant person I say very clearly that I must have almond milk as I cannot have normal cows milk. I know to anyone else it isn’t a big deal, but for me it has completely ruined the rest of my day. I drunk the drink (cannot taste the difference as the caramel syrup was very strong - or I would have sent it back before !!) and was sick for the rest of the day. I think this needs to be taken more seriously as this has caused me massive upset. I have been severely unwell due to the lack of care. It really is not difficult to remember almond milk instead of cows milk but somehow this happened. Again, it seems like no big deal but it’s such a small ask and it really makes a huge difference to me. I hope no one else gets the experience I did.

What happened Costa ? Dirty floors. Seating very Spartan. Like sitting in a corridor. Atmosphere has vanished. Nice staff today 😘

Absolutely lovely. The staff are cheerful and actually talk to you. Good and helpful service, clean and warm. This is so different to other Costa's, they didn't bat an eyelid when a vulnerable person in a dinosaur costume came in. Well done to them

Fantastic staff always warm and welcome always makes time to talk with customers.

So we had an early morming meeting in August and so were there for 8am - They had already run out of the basic breakfast items. So we were't too impressed Cup sizes had been changed and seemed that no one new what was a small, medium or large! But not all bad news - They messed up our bill so got most of our items for free!

Costa is a good coffee shop chain, this one is kept clean and pleasant

Cranleigh is a nice little place, some interesting shops and coffee shops. Went to Costa as Mans was closed. Costa is normally average to good. This one has good toilets. Apart from that, the outside seating is just some tables outside, not feeling as though they belong there. Inside is bland and uninteresting. Sitting near the windows is not particularly pleasant, no warmth or real comfort. Coffee is fine, but won't be rushing back

The staff are the highlight and the coffee is good. It has a nice community feel about it, which is a bit of a surprise for a chain coffee shop.

Coffee good - bacon roll not so much. The cafe is long and narrow and seating isn't exactly generous. Ho him.

After the recent refurb I've noticed that, although it looks lovely and more spacious somehow, it doesn't seem to be as family-friendly. Sadly, they've removed the children's colouring table, despite still having space for it. But, much more frustratingly for me at least, is that the doors are now much narrower making it difficult to fit a buggy through without opening both doors at once. The pre-refurb doors had a mechanism which held them open at a right angle but now I find myself having to rely on other customers to hold both doors open for me awkwardly while I duck under their arm to get in. It puts me off coming in sometimes to be honest. There is a button outside which says "press for assistance" or something which I originally thought this was an accessibility button to open the doors. But apparently it just calls for a member of staff to come and help you. The staff are always so rushed off their feet in there though that I'd much rather struggle a bit with the buggy than call them over. Having had my rant, I will say that this is still a nice place to have coffee. There's an outdoor seating area with an awning and a water bowl for your dog. The coffee is usually spot on and the staff are some of the nicest people you'll meet. I highly recommend to anyone who doesn't have little ones lol!

This Costa has had a much needed facelift and floor clean. It seems that along with a cleaner brighter environment that the staff have lifted their game too. The result is a much nicer coffee shop. Good work.

Coffee very poor quality there needs to be some training to make a decent cup. Some members of staff seem to be OK. Seating in store is dreadful designed to get you in and out quickly not a coffee shop design

As average as ever. Was full of noisy teenagers!

At times it’s as filthy as a migrant camp - filthy sticky tables often full of other people’s waste. Rubbish on the floor from other people children where the ‘grownups’ clearly don’t care about the mess being made. Staff take far too long to keep the place clean and presentable and that includes the disgusting and permanently wet toilets.

This Costa continues to deliver very mixed results. I dropped in to buy a regular order for my daughter, namely a cheese and tomato toastie and an iced latte to go. The milk used in the iced latte was completely rancid and very unpleasant indeed. I live in hope that this Costa outlet will get their act together but seem to be regularly disappointed.

It’s ok but service is slow and it’s not very pleasant to walk in past smokers at the entrance. Could do with a bit of a re think on how it operates. Coffee was way too hot and I don’t think the barista knew how to make proper drinks.

Coffee toasted sandwich were excellent. Enjoyed them . service from staff excellent.

If you are reading reviews of Costa coffee establishments you must be (a) lost (b) bored, or (c) curious as to what makes this particular location of an amorphous coffee chain is like. Answers are: (a) press back a couple of times and be on your way (b) pick up a book or quality newspaper and read. Go outside and a joy the beauty of creation. Do anything but sit here reading reviews of coffee chain outlets (c) be curious no more: its the same as every other Costa coffee store. Good coffee, pleasant pastries and all of it wickedly over priced.

Nice local coffee shop although it belongs to a larger company.

I called in for lunch when my erratic satnav decided to re-route me through Cranleigh! I frequently visit Costa branches so roughly knew what I wanted from the menu - cheese and mushroom toastie, crisps, a latte and a slice of raspberry and blackcurrant cake. Having read previous reviews I am aware that other experiences have been less positive but I’ve given five stars because I have absolutely no reason not to - everywhere looked clean, empty tables were clear, the staff were pleasant and welcoming, I received my food and coffee promptly and it all tasted fine. The only thing I would add is that it would have been easier to eat my triple layered cake with a fork rather than the knife provided but this seems to be a Costa thing rather than a branch thing as it’s the same at other branches.

Always slow. Staff prefer to make labels and stack water bottles than speed up service or make coffee. It's painstaking coming here, wish this town had more good coffee options.

Nicely made drinks. Sandwiches offered on a plate with a knife (never seen this in a Costa before). Great service!

The best drink available in a Costa in my opinion is the Cortado - however, I chose a piece of cake (Banana & Pecan Loaf) with my coffee and it was the end piece which when I tasted it was hard and dry. To be fair I took it back and they swapped it for a piece from the middle of the loaf but was still very dry. Even the staff said that this particular cake is always a problem and drys out badly.

Okay a Costa Coffee is a Costa Coffee but one usually associates the chain with speedy service ... you could grow coffee faster than the time to pour it here. It was sort of busy (all but three tables full) with six customers waiting so I guess it was their rush hour.

I am generally a fan of Costas, but this was not the best. The service was good, but the place a bit plain and tired, and the coffee was very watery and hardly like the normal standard.

Standards have fallen here I have to say. The staff were slow and more than a little pushy, with a significant queue having formed and, like everyone else has pointed, the shop is still filthy, dirty floor, the toilets were disgusting and the outdoor seating was especially wretched (almost all the tables were empty and covered in grime, not to mention with uncleared glasses sitting all around). The coffee itself was your average costa coffee, I took it to go (I'm glad I didn't decide to sit in), and frankly my experience makes me wonder why I bothered to wait in the queue rather than finding somewhere else to get coffee from. Now I may have caught this Costa on a particularly bad day, and I'll admit it was early evening, so it was likely more busy than usual, but with all the other reviews here, there's a definite pattern emerging

Sometimes I pop in for a caffeine fix on my way to work and this particular branch of this coffee chain used to be a pleasant stop. My last couple of visits the place looks tired and the staff unhappy. I believe as I am paying upwards of £3.00 for a coffee I expect some time and love put into making it however all the staff care about is getting through the line as quick as possible. It’s more quantity than quality which is not what I am about. Will avoid in future.

Too small. Long waits but staff friendly.

Went in a couple months ago and it was pretty quiet but last time i went in it was insanely crowded, so i honestly couldn't predict how busy it might be on any given day; it might just be busier because it's winter(?) My dad and soon-to-be stepsister had hot chocolates, and hers was okay but my dad's was very watery, so there was a bit of inconsistency with the drinks. I had a cappuccino with soy milk which was nice, but they didn't really have many drinks aside from the basics that could be veganised; i actually find that starbucks caters for vegans significantly better than costa. However, the baristas were friendly and the holiday cups are cute, and it was a nice, warm place, so i wouldn't write it off as an option at all.

So there’s a queue of more than 5 persons and one small foreign guy on duty. To make it worse he engages in tedious non relevant conversation with the lady at the front of the queue for 5mins keeping us all waiting. Somebody fire this guy because he’s not helping Costa’s image or reputation and worse he’s loosing them money.

For reasons best known to themselves my children like Costa.

Only down side (from my point of view ) is that they don't allow dogs in. So when walking my dog I will always get my coffee from the pub down the road.

The nice staff remember what I drink

I would have to say this is the worse Costa I have been too. Their coffees are horrible, the milk is never frothy. I could make a better coffee at home, yet I am paying full premium prices for a sub-parr coffee. Stay away!

It is a friendly busy costa with a kids art area at the back. Handy!
