À restrant with no menu, yes it's true, I was told they have untrained staff working in the kitchen, so they could offer something with chips, we left.

I was so looking forward to seeing friends and enjoying a Sunday roast. We had to order drinks and food at the bar which is quite difficult as I have mobility problems. Had to wait some time for our meal. They specify pork with crackling but you get the smallest amount of meat and the crackling was soggy as if it had sat in gravy for 20 minutes. You get 2 roast potatoes which I feel is very small, the gravy was thin and tasteless. We asked for mustard, they didn't have any but did give us 6 small diced pieces of apple between 3 of us. I do find it strange that the bare basics of having condiments were ignored. They should have mustard, mint sauce, horseradish as the basics. The beef slice I had was very nice. The dinner was so small we had to order chips to fill us up. I ordered dessert at the same time which probably was a mistake Another long delay and our apple crumble came out before the chips so asked for the chips to be packaged to take out. The staff did not appear happy, which I get, we've all worked shifts where nothing goes right. However, when I thanked I believe to be the deputy manager as she was clearing up our table, she didn't even look at me and mumbled something. Our waitress, lovely young girl, early teens was sweet and my heart went out to her. I would like to come back to see if any improvements have been made, such a shame. On a positive note, the apple crumble was delicious, thank you all so much.

We were looking for a good Sunday roast - there is a good deal of choice in the area but we’d not been here since it re-opened. Unfortunately, some of the starters were not available & we then received 2 starters but I had to wait another 7/8 minutes for mine to appear with a lacklustre sort of apology. The actual roast was just average with gravy that was thin & tasteless. There was no menu for the desserts as they ‘only had a few’ so we went without. The tables felt very cramped together with no room to move. All this may have been forgivable if we had felt welcomed or if any of the staff had actually smiled at us. Cheer up ladies for goodness sake!

It was a brilliant evening, they had a Valentine’s Day meal. It was a set menu for two. We were in the conservatory, music playing, candles and red lights. It was lovely and decorated well but not too overwhelming. The food was delicious! As it was a set menu it was 3 courses and they all came out at just the right times, not too fast or slow. We will definitely be back! Thank you!

The Beech Tree is one of our local pubs that we always talked about visiting but never got around to doing so. However, yesterday we finally managed to go and visit (Friday night). The pub looks very inviting from the outside, being decorated with various tasteful (non-Christmas) lights. The inside is smart, comfortable and cosy on a cold night. Although the open fire wasn't lit yesterday, there is one near the bar. The bar staff were very friendly, welcoming and great to chat with. Neither my wife nor I are big drinkers, so we primarily went to eat. the menu contains a good selection and includes vegetarian and also vegan dishes. We ordered our starters and mains and were impressed with the quality of the food. The ingredients were fresh, and the food was delicious, with generous portions (quite rare these days). Having worked as a chef in the past, I'm always particularly critical of food, but we both thoroughly enjoyed our meal. So much in fact, that we even ordered dessert which we don't normally do. Again, that was delicious, too. Apparently the Beech Tree recently got a new chef, we very much hope they keep her as she clearly knows her trade. It is extremely rare that my wife and I write a review, let alone about a pub, but in this case, I can only recommend it to anyone who's looking for lovely meal out that won't break the bank. In addition, there is a large conservatory which can host birthday parties etc, so we know where we'll be going next time such an event arises.

I attended this highly rated establishment to watch the football with my business associates , we enjoyed some averagely priced beverages with a mediocre service , unfortunately towards the climax of our evening one of their more arrogant staff members accused associates of poor behaviour completely out the blue, she was rude , I’ll mannered and damn right rude , i was bitterly disappointed as we had spent handsomely that evening , a bit of decorum from said staff member would have been appreciated, I did not catch her name but she was from iraq , will not be returning anytime soon

Had a brilliant night catching up with long lost school friends, first time we’d been in contact for 10 years… had been there for a couple of hours to watch the champions league, no problem all night and had great service until I was randomly accused of ‘smoking inside’ out of the blue whilst watching the game. To then hear the girls behind the bar being disrespectful and then turn the tv off before the game was finished. The boys behind the bar apologised on behalf of the girls for their despicable actions, in the end the girl behind the bar who wrongfully accused me realised it was someone else and continued to be rude with no apology or disregard for my feelings. Afraid to go out again with long lost friends due to this terrible and traumatic encounter, enjoyed the new owners and the bar staff until tonight when I met this jumped up little madam, hair like David Luiz and more front than a double decker bus. Real shame for the community.

My first encounter since reopening a few weeks back called up on a Thursday to ask if they was serving food to be told yes and we have a quiz tonight! Great arrived 15 minutes later to be told no food! Fair enough just went somewhere else but wouldn't have traveled there if they wasn't serving food. Tonight finally got to try the menu and honestly won't be returning. Expensive for what it is, you have to go to the bar to order which is fine for bar food but not when its a restaurant plus no option for a tab which is a pain when you are ordering a few courses, drinks etc. Lasagna was dry and burnt on top they just added extra cheese to cover it, gammon steak wasn't a gammon steak it was a couple of pieces of cold ham! The burger was piping hot though so one positive. Bought a bottle of Rose wine £30 to be told oh we have no rose wine left. When I asked for a refund they said oh we can't do refunds the system won't allow us to so I can just swap a drink for you. The bottle I swapped for was £27 but was just told its just a swap so lost out on £3. Which isn't a major issue more the principle of it. Lots of staff standing around but not doing much. Shame really as local to us and a nice pub in general but food 100% not up to standard and just seems a bit disorganised.

Booked roast dinner for first time out since having a baby. They suggested the conservatory as more room for pushchair. Changed table from 3pm to 4pm on the phone to fit in with baby’s naps. No problem I was told. Get there to be met with the attitude of young lady on front of house saying there’s nowhere to seat you, she walks around a couple of times, says there’s nowhere. Ask to speak to a manager, there isn’t one in. Ask to speak to a supervisor, they’ve already left. So I’m left at the doorway with a baby that needs feeding and the table I booked that’s non existent. Really helpful to a new mum on a winters afternoon. Steer well clear if you don’t want to be let down and have your plans ruined

No heating. When mentioned, was just told oh yes, we're waiting to have it looked at! Should you be taking paying guests in Nov with no heating?! Radiators stone cold & fire not lit. Made to pay for meal up front (never had to at other pubs) Maybe they thought we'd refuse to pay, 2 of us had cod (thin small portions, not whole fillets) & 1 had falsely advertised 'deep dish lasagne' certainly not deep or in a dish! Approx 3 inch square, thin & pasta very dry, (not hot & looked reheated) came with a few leaves & 2 cherry tomatoes halved! Loud swearing from 4 young lads on table next to us, watching football on large tv. We moved to another table but could still hear them. Not a nice ambience when out for a family meal. Last straw - No toilet roll in ladies!!! Complained to Management (I think)...A lady who came in after we'd finished eating, who did half heartedly apologise & said 'maybe we can offer you some free drinks next time!' to which I replied we would not be returning! Looks like a cosy pub from the outside. Looks can be very deceiving! Never even written any kind of review before but felt compelled to do so here. Certainly made us appreciate more, other pubs we frequent on Sat evenings.

Came here on Sunday for a celebratory meal with 5 friends. Service was excellent! I chose roast lamb and skipped the starter. Came in a timely fashion was well presented. However, the lamb was in short supply, barely 2 slices on my plate and very very fatty. This was hidden initially by a large Yorkshire pud on top! Now I know why!The vegetables came out to share amongst 3 people which was cooked well not overdone. They had run out of cheesecake so had choc fudge cake for pud which was nice and a generous slice. I would maybe go back but definitely wouldn't have lamb. I feel it was expensive for what I actually got £12.95 for a roast.

Nice restaurant, nice staff, cool on a hot day, I ordered Hunters Chicken but the bacon was almost raw, my fault as this often happens for some reason, no matter where I go, and I forgot to ask for it to be well cooked, which usually do. Also they have a serious wasp problem. They need to identify where the nest is and then get pest control out. They're inside and outside, and they're evil angry things. This was our first time eating at the Beech Tree (and will be our last). Arrived, ordered drinks from the bar and then went to look for a table having been told someone would come out and take our order. After 10 minuted nobody had appeared so I went back in to order the food myself at the bar. The pub was not busy. Placed our food order and then sat there for 40 minutes ... no food arrived. Went to the bar and was going to order another drink until the girl behind the bar served a local who walked straight up to the bar and ordered despite me having waited 5 minutes ... went back to the table a bit annoyed. My partner had by this point asked how long the food would be and was told our order hadn’t been put through (despite me having paid for it already). We only stayed on to eat at this point as we were absolutely starving but wish we’d just gone somewhere else. When the food did arrive, the chicken was over cooked, dry and chewy, the potatoes were awful, the Yorkshire puddings like cardboard, barely any gravy and the veg .... well ... we got a limp plate of soggy cabbage with a couple of stick of carrot, plus a huge pile of congealed cheese hiding a couple of bits of cauliflower. The worst roast I’ve been served in a pub to be honest. Don’t know how they can serve food like this and charge for it!!! The young blonde girl serving the food was very apologetic (not her fault) but we were so disappointed we asked for our money back.

We turned up and there were 3 people behind the bar, not one of them acknowledged us, no smile, avoided all eye contact so they wouldn’t have to deal with us, one was just putting glasses back on the shelves which I understand is a job that has to be done, but surely greeting customers and serving them is higher on the priority list. After 10 minutes of standing at the bar with no acknowledgement feeling like a pare of idiots we left. Just to have been seated would have been nice, but we just stood and smiled waiting patiently till we felt that we didn’t want to spend our money in a place that didn’t care about their guests. Party of 6 went for a birthday meal last night at the Beech Tree - we all had wonderful meals, fantastically prepared and presented by Dave and Paul, who I believe were the chefs last night. Only 2 people could manage a pudding as portions were so generous! The waiting staff were polite and knowledgeable about the menu, which had a wide range of choices. The food prices are very reasonable but I think the wine is overpriced - having said that, it was beautifully chilled and served in an ice bucket. The only issue was the music, which was switched on halfway through our visit and as we had a speaker above our table, we did have to ask for it to be turned down a little. We will definitely return!

Upon entering the pub we were impressed by the friendly barmaid Nicole who went out of her way to be helpful, finding us a nice table, efficient in taking our drinks order and helping us choose of off the menu, taking into consideration our fussiness ... She was attentive through out our evening, checking we were OK for sauces, food being ok, did we need anything else. The food was of very good quality, nothing fancy just a good portion of well presented good pub food. The atmosphere was just nice and what you'd expect from a 'locals' pub. All in all, the service was excellent by Nicole. The food was as you'd expect for pub food and plentiful. It was clean and well presented in the pub area itself and the food was cleared from the tables promptly as was the empty glasses. I will visit again and would recommend.

Booked a work outing with the girls from work for a group meal. This was last minute as our previous destination as double booked us. There was 14 of us amd this was no hastle to staff. Staff was very friendly, our table was already reserved in a spacious environment, not ceamped in the corner. Bar staff were very friendly, service with a smile goes along way! Our food was prompt, we had 3 courses each, food is delightful at a reasonable price. I recommend the nacho's, the pulled pork burger was a hit with the girls and looked yummy! The toilets were clean aswell as the pub. I have already reserved a table for 2 weeks time. There is a play area my child will love, perfect for a family sunday dinner, but also for a work meal with drinks flowing!

Visited here with my husband and children on Saturday (14/10/2017). Staff were very friendly and service with a smile. They were very helpful and food was brought to us promptly. Fantastic outside area for my children to play while we were waiting for our food. Menu is brilliant and very well priced. Chefs and staff are very accommodating if you want to swap food or want to know about ingredients. This pub has is very welcoming vibe and relaxing. I highly recommend this pub if you want to have a quiet drink or family get together. I will be visiting very soon with the rest of the family. Thank you to all the staff.

We organised a team meal and decided upon The Beech Tree. Taking an average score from the 19 attendees who ordered food right across the menu from starters to desserts gave an average score of 4/5. Staff are very friendly and the customer service top quality. When food was not finished the staff asked for feedback and offered alternatives which was appreciated. Good night out and can accommodate large groups no problems.

We sat outside which was lovely and ordered food. My husband ordered the Pulled Pork burger only to find there was no burger! When he asked if they had forgotten the burger was told the bun was the burger so paid £12.00 a small pulled pork bread bun !!! So I guess don't order a cheese burger as you will just get a cheese bun. A tiny portion of skinny chips accompanied it and that was it he was left still hungry. I had a rack of ribs which at £16.00 was disappointing. Dry ribs, tiny corn on cob which was also dry and tiniest pot of coleslaw. Always look for a positive the toilet was clean and the two young girls serving were lovely.

We were on business from North Northamptonshire & I found this to be near to where we were going on Trip advisor . On a very rainy dull day we were originally the only people there . The staff were very friendly & welcoming . We chose to eat in the conservatory . I had a basic house Burger & my husband had a Halloumi Burger . Both arrived looking very appetising. Mine was home made & delicious served with fries - very generous portion. My husbands was served with big fat chunky chips . He was extremely pleased with his very generous portion . Nice clean ladies toilet too . Would go again if in the area .

We decided to have lunch at this pub on a very warm and sunny Sunday. I don't think I had set foot in the place for over 30 years! It has a good and safe play area for little ones and an extensive beer garden for sunny days. The greeting from the staff was really cordial and we were served with alacrity. The menu is varied and very good value-even my picky eater of a grandson cleared his plate. We will definitely return before another 30 years are up-thank you all for such a happy afternoon.

We decided to visit the beech tree, as it was a convenient place to meet friends. There was loads of parking and even though it was 3 pm the pub was busy with a friendly atmosphere. Given the size of our party, we were easily accommodated and the food order was taken swiftly. There were plenty of drinks to choose from, and some nice largers on tap. Service was quick and helpful, with kids meals coming out with the starters. I would recommend the chicken caesar salad, as it was served the traditional way with anchovies, and my request for having charred chicken was met with ease. Overall I would say this pub is great for food, families and get together's.

The Beech Tree is very close to my house so I am very interested in a successful local pub nearby so this feedback is given with the intention of helping improvement. The ale on tap is excellent (last Sunday it was Tribute and Bombardier) the problems are that the food is a bit hit and miss. On previous occasions it has been acceptable but last Sunday (14th May) it was certainly on the slide. Following a previous experience with a "chicken satay" which was literally a bowl of peanut sauce with a few bits of chicken drowned in it, my wife and daughter opted for the garlic mushrooms. Unfortunately that again was a bowl of sauce that became a mushroom hunt as although my daughter had a few in there my wife probably found about 3 parts of a mushroom. She did complain and they came back with a bowl that didn't really seem that different. My son had the burger which went down relatively well, and two of us went for the Sunday roast which was not too bad. I went for the Caesar Salad wth grilled chicken which was basically exterminated salty chicken and anchovies on a rather thin bed of lettuce with a salty Caesar dressing. It can't be beyond the wit of a local pub to provide a decent bed of crispy lettuce to give the dish that really fresh feel; when you have anchovies in there it needs the freshness to balance the salt but the impression it gave was that it was all about the salt.Food does take a while to arrive but you wouldn't mind if it was great when it comes. Thank god for the beer and let's hope they get the food right as it is definitely getting worse based on my experience.

We stumbled across this pub by accident when looking for a Brewers Fayre and decided to take a chance. It was a lovely, quaint pub. There is a play area for the kids. Dining area is spacious and plenty or parking. I ordered scampi and chips and mustve easily had 15 pieces on my plate! They were cooked perfectly. The hunters chicken was amazing too and the kids were impressed with their meals. We ordered dessert too and 2 rounds of drinks for the 4 of us and the bill was only £50. Will definitely return if I am ever around this way again.

Believe it or not it's hard to find good places to eat locally. There's a fair few to eats to chose from but none seem to have a menu with "quality" food. We find the food here of a very good standard.Decent meat, you can taste the difference and many homemade dishes. I can spot a readymade microwaved one a mile off! A good choice of drinks and a lovely outside area for the summer. It's hard to beat the Beech Tree.

Went to this pub with family and friends following a funeral. The party consisted of 15 people with a wide age range and we had reserved the conservatory area for lunch. The atmosphere was very good and the staff friendly and tried hard to please. However, it took ages for the food to arrive and some of the courses were unusual to say the least and not what was expected. The space was quite cold and, when we mentioned this to the staff, we were told that the electricity went off at 2 o'clock. Not very helpful considering there were a number of aged people in the party. This pub has been improved massively in the past few years but our experience was disappointing especially as we had pre-booked the area and the staff should have made the necessary preparations.

As this is a pub fairly local to me I thought I would visit again. My previous visits were before the refurbishment and at that time the place was absolutely appalling. The last visit at that time was for my mothers birthday. Four meals were ordered and 45 minutes later nothing had appeared and the staff were rude and non caring. At that time we walked out vowing never to return! What a difference since then. Friendly and attentive staff and great food now. It has become a place well worth visiting again. Here's hoping the place prospers as it deserves to do.

It's been about 20 years since I last went into the Beech Tree and if, like me, it's been a while since you've been in, then you'll likely be pleasantly surprised. The food and service are both very good while the menu is very reasonably priced too. I had the Chicken Satay and Beech Burger and will not be leaving it too long before I return. True, the car park has some potholes to negotiate, but it's easy to overlook those when everything else about the Beech Tree is spot on.

I think I may have said this in a previous review for here but I've had burgers, ribs, pulled pork .. all over the States and these one match, if not better some of the ones I've demolished over there. We recently ate in a high end meat/burger joint in London and their burgers were mediocre compared to these. Well done Beech Tree.

I get the impression that the owners are winding the Taps down. The bar staff are excellent, beer is good but often the selection can be poor. Food is no longer available, but you can take food in. The bar is looking tired, the loos are very retro, if 1970s public toilets are your thing. Its a real shame.
