I'm a real fan of The Bolney Stage, I've been visiting for over 30 years. But the fish and chips I had last night was just not good enough at any price, let alone £17.45. The fish was undercooked, so much so that halfway through, having discovered that the thickest part of the fillet was barely warm and the batter uncooked beneath the crust, I had to send it back for a re-fry. Presentation of the dish was none too clever either, with a broad pool of rather runny mushy peas, and a wide scattering of chips. The other two diners were happier with their meals, but neither said the food was excellent. I'll go again, but I'll be expecting better next time.

The Manor Farm has always been my preferred choice of pub/ restaurant in Rainham, Kent. I am hardly a regular but I have for several years popped in with friends for a Christmas dinner.from the yearly festive menu. It has never been exceptional in terms of quality but at least honest and affordable. With a couple of pints the final bill usually comes to approx £30 per head. However my last visit 2024 was extremely disappointing. Firstly we were informed that due to food contamination there was no festive option available. We had pre booked so were somewhat disappointed to be informed on arrival that we would have to choose from a reduced menu. I chose fillet steak, medium rare which although pink in the middle was charcoal burnt on the outside. I ordered a pint of peroni beer afterwards only to be told that it had run out. The final straw, as we went to order our last pints at 21-45 was to be told that the bar had already closed. I can’t be too critical of the staff who were doing their best on the night but I have to question the early closing at 21-45 so close to Christmas. Very disappointing night that we have always enjoyed up until now. Unlikely to be booking next year.

I really wanted a roast meal and decided what’s better than tobys . Plenty of parking, it’s Sunday evening and pretty empty. The waitress is very cheerful and took drinks order. Roast lamb was very thin slices and not much , gammon and roast pork again not much meat. Plenty of roast potatoes, peas, carrots, mac &cheese big Yorkshire pudding and hot gravy. I really enjoyed my meal and I didn’t care there wasn’t enough meat . Total bill for 2 with one beer £33 Would I return ??? Yes absolutely

Lovely setting, food not bad either. Staff are very friendly. Setting is pleasant. However, when I went there were some idiots swearing too much for my liking. Not making it suitable for couples or families. Pity, I'm sure it's just a one off though. I would take my gf here on another day.

Booked a table for a birthday meal which ended up ruined and two of the party walking out ..we ordered 5 roast dinners that should never have been served to customers.. the menu stated traditional roast turkey , we were given a form of ham covered in pepper, no stuffing or mash potatoes and the rest of the meal was cold , the vegetables had ice in the middle , it was disgusting, we couldn’t eat it , the only consultation was the deputy manager refunded our money

Came here on Xmas eve to have a meal we where a family of 15, we had booked this at least a week ahead, on arrival we were told table would be ready in 10 minutes, manager Becky was rude to one of our family members at the bar, all he said was have a smile it’s Christmas, her reply was don’t speak to me like that!!, not sure what her problem was, maybe she is not happy in her role. 30 minutes later still no table, on speaking with the manager Becky again she was very rude and said we had a right to go somewhere else, what sort of manager is that who will turn away 15 people, finally our table was ready on entering upstairs we were shocked that there was hardly anyone in the restaurant, table still not ready we had to ask for more chairs, the restaurant staff were very pleasant, we started to order our food and was told a few of the meals were off the menu, I am sure we should have been told that on being seated, due to 2 people only eating fish &chips which was off we decided to leave, we have visited this restaurant many times before but never have we had such terrible service and been spoken to by such a terrible manager, this experience really upset the whole family, not sure this is somewhere we will attend again soon/ not sure making the complaint helped, as we have not heard anything back from this complaint raised. I got a reply on this review on the website telling me they have responded to my complaint which I have not received, the review reported there are 2 sides to the story, this reply seems to have been replied to by the manager the compliant is about. I also have asked if you could give me a number to your head office ? again no response.

We visited as a family of eight for Breakfast with Santa. Please don’t be put off by the not so good reviews. Food was plentiful and hot. Santa was brilliant and spent time with our Grandchildren, asking their names and what they want for Christmas. We weren’t rushed and felt that it was very good value for money. Well Done Toby Carvery.
