I have just enjoyed a meal at the Brewers Fayre in Hastings, whilst staying at the Premier Inn. I only had a few minutes before the carvery was finished but wanted a starter too. Emma arranged for my food (carvery) to be kept warm until I finished my starter. Emma went above and beyond; I haven’t experienced such fantastic customer service in a long time, hence writing this review. I will definitely be returning when I’m next in the area.

We have been twice this month for Sunday lunch, along with our little dog, who is always made very welcome. We love the ambience and the delightful, friendly staff, and on the whole the food is very good. The Yorkshire puddings are a particular favourite of mine! Yesterday our roast beef was tougher and less tasty than previously, but when I mentioned this to the waitress she immediately fetched us additional slices from a much better cut. Sadly, in my opinion, the roasts are let down by the ‘gravy’ served, which is apparently ‘vegan and gluten free, to suit all customers’ - it is also taste-free!! I find it strange that they serve three meat roasts and one vegetarian/vegan, yet only vegan gravy for all? Sadly, instead of enhancing a roast beef with a delicious meat jus/gravy this concoction merely adds bland wetness. Unless they change this we shall in future be going for our roasts to other pubs in the area - a great shame, as we do love the ambience and staff at the Sun!

Dirty table, the floor hadn't been swept, dirty windows, muddy chairs. Unattentive staff. One item of food was overcooked and when it was mentioned to staff they did nothing. To add insult to injury when we double checked the bill on the way home a 10% service charge was added - we ate in the bar area and got our own cutlery etc! Needless to say we wouldn't go back or recommend the Betsey Wynne.

I'm a real fan of The Bolney Stage, I've been visiting for over 30 years. But the fish and chips I had last night was just not good enough at any price, let alone £17.45. The fish was undercooked, so much so that halfway through, having discovered that the thickest part of the fillet was barely warm and the batter uncooked beneath the crust, I had to send it back for a re-fry. Presentation of the dish was none too clever either, with a broad pool of rather runny mushy peas, and a wide scattering of chips. The other two diners were happier with their meals, but neither said the food was excellent. I'll go again, but I'll be expecting better next time.

We went to The Maybury for Christmas lunch on Christmas day The food was nice but the service was terrible,we had a 20 minute wait and was asked to pay the bill and vacate our table as soon as we had finished we were not even offered coffee. We won't be going there again
