We popped in for a quick lunch on Sunday at around1pm. We ordered our food from the bar and it arrived within 20 minutes, two of us has a burger and we also had the Mac n Cheese. It was fantastic, the chips were lovely, the burgers were not greasy or dry and tasted devine. The mac n Cheese was yummy with garlic bread. All in all a lovely lunch at low prises.

My wife and I had breakfast here recently and i've got to say WOW, and that's not a good wow. It was shocking and I dont even know where to start...So lets start with the things i thought they do well. the lady behind the bar was polite and helpful but that's it, the other member of staff (a young lad) gave me a look like he wanted to fight me as we were leaving. I think that it is owned by a brewery so dont expect to much but have come to expect a lot more then they are offering, the venue felt so so so so dirty i felt like going from there straight to the doctors to get a tetanus or penicillin shot. The toilet where so bad and when i say bad its something you would have to see for yourself, the furniture looked like someone had pulled it out off a skip. Now the food and with this i have to say we have been here before for lunch and evening and i don't remember it being this bad, i would say it was OK no different to a hungry horse or something. But the breakfast was cold, bacon was burnt and left a burnt metallic taste in my mouth, beans looked like they had been sat there all night , mushrooms tasted like it had been deep fried, sausage was cooked on one side not the other and they were cold and anaemic, cutlery had old bits of dried food on and the coffee was a large but the cup size was not that much bigger then an espresso, plus the hole thing was over priced think it was £17 for two people. So all in all VERY VERY POOR but i like to see and try to find a positive from a negative and that is the only way form here is up.. Now i have to go and have a shower and brush my teeth...……

We decided on The Eagle Vaults because it’s in the town centre, although it’s got a tired decor, the service here was second to none. The staff were all courteous, polite and couldn’t do enough to make our visit pleasurable. We booked a table, which was reserved for us, and was in prime position by the window. The selection of ales was good, with doom bar being my choice. May be a guest ale would have been nice to add an extra choice? We ordered our food and it came just as we requested, although they had run out of steaks, as it being between Christmas and new year. The quality was good, with good sized portions served. It may not be the prettiest place in Witney, but for value for money and service this wins hands down for me. The service made it extra special. Thank you, we will be back.

The Eagle Vaults isn't the most prestigious venue in Witney. It's slightly rough around the edges; with lots of TV screens; fruit machines and an obligatory drunk in the corner. All of this aside, it is hands down, one of most accommodating, friendly pubs in town Each Wednesday I am privillaged to join a group of young adults with additional needs for an informal meet up group - usually invoving a couple of shandys and bite to eat. The Eagle Vaults not only happily reserves a table, but lays it up and supplies water jugs and glasses. Jupp and Mel at the bar are patient and kind...and always remember to supply a reciept. They do their best to ensure that people's meals arrive at similar time, even when ordered separately. The food is piping hot and plentiful, and served with a grin! Thanks so much for making us welcome. Ps. The guys would much rather come to you than Wetherspoons over the road!

My friend was down from up north, visiting for the weekend so we thought we’d pop in to the Eagle Vaults for a few drinks. Service from the bar staff was quick and efficient, no issue there. However the visit to the little ladies room was another story, 1 out of the 3 toilet cubicle has a working lock on it but no toilet roll, another cubicle has a lock with no nobbly bit to slide it shut so has to stay open and the third cubicle has no lock on at all. The toilets were grim, not sure they get cleaned all that often. The sinks in the toilet, one has a plank of wood covering it so we’ll assume that one doesn’t work, one of the sinks’ plugs was blocked with tissue and so only 1 sink working. Absolutely disgusting, get some locks on them doors and keep them stocked with tissue!

I used to go to the Company of Weavers (Wetherspoons) but the service there is unbelievably bad, they never clear the tables, the meals take a long time to come, and the place is full of screaming kids running around, also the attitude of the staff is apathetic at best and rude at worst... So, driven to the Eagle Vaults, I have found a friendly, efficient place with a really good breakfast... and just as cheap as Wetherspoons, (which was its only saving grace).

We popped in for a drink and possibly lunch yesterday afternoon. Myself and several other customers tripped on a raised carpet bump in the floor. Very dangerous. There were dead and alive flies all over the indoor windowsills which made us decide not to eat in the pub. Also, when my husband went to the bar to order drinks there was not one real ale available. On a plus note the staff were polite and friendly, and the sauvignon blanc was decent. Left after one drink

Popped into the pub after seeing the advert for a "hidden garden" as I was with my grandchildren. I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the garden and play space for the children. (something many pubs don't accommodate for). despite the absence of children's menus to read the bar staff were extremely helpful in providing us with more than sufficient information for what they could eat. the food we ordered was delicious, clearly freshly cooked and served very quickly which is a bonus with impatient children. over all I was very pleased with the cleanliness of the pub and the helpfulness of the staff. will most definitely be returning. The added bonus was unlimited coffee at £1, which you helped yourself to. Called in today en route from Eynsham. It was a rainy and we wanted a quick fill up before a 100 mile drive. The man an woman on the bar provided attentive and quick service. We noted that the establishment was under new management. We ate off the £5.95 menu as we were not ravenous. What arrived at our table was a delight and represented very good value. Piping hot and well cooked . I had traditional fish and chips. I paid an extra 50p for mushy peas which was a bit odd! My wife had gammon and we both enjoyed our food. Lots of interesting local pictures of the town. The beer garden is very spacious and with large patio umbrellas. This is not a pretentious establishment. It is what it is and does what it promises. In that context I have to score it highly.

I've given this place a few tries before forming an opinion of it. I love the service, the speed, the location - everything but the food. The first time I ordered a hot dog. The hot dog wasn't cooked inside, the centre was still cold and undercooked. The bun was soggy and the melted cheese tasted awful, like plastic. The second time I ordered the sweet chilli chicken wrap, which was pretty good. The sauce was tasty. I'd have liked to see some grilled chicken breast or something inside it, but instead it's served with frozen breaded chicken bits that tasted pretty low quality.I did like the dish so the last time I went there I ordered the same in a sandwich. There was no sweet chilli sauce in the sandwich, so what I received was a buttered untoasted sandwich with some chicken and the bitter, core parts of baby gem lettuce in, it was pretty disgusting and flavourless. All in all I'd describe the food as low to average quality pub food. Nothing about the place stands out from any of the 20 other eateries around it. After tasting the food I probably won't be going back.

Visited on a quiet Monday lunch time saw the menu outside and decided to take a punt. The prices looked cheap and cheerful so we weren't expecting Michelin stars. Ordered a 'gourmet' burger and drink combo (£6.95) and a steak and chicken combo to be cooked medium rare. The meal was clearly forgotten about. It arrived after having to chase up the staff after 35 mins. The steak was incredibly well done, tough as old boots and the chicken was black at one end. The burger looked ok, but after having to spit out the first bite I took it out of the bun and found one side looked like it had been badly barbecued by a child. It tasted of charcoal. The meals had clearly been left under a grill and forgotten about, and rather than coming to explain the mistake and apologising for the wait whilst they cooked a fresh one, the dry burnt food was served in the hope we wouldn't notice! When the problems were pointed out to one of the girls serving she said sorry and we were offered a free drink. Needless to say we declined the offer and went elsewhere. We did eat the chips (which were lovely) but considering most of the meal was inedible I would have expected to have at least one of them refunded. Shan't bother again. If that's what you get when it's quiet I dread to think what its like later in the week!

Nice enough for the price, food of a good standard, decor reasonable and price for what you get is good. The only draw back is the foul language used by the regulars that goes uninterrupted by the staff or Manager. My advice don't take kids

On a wet Witney afternoon we walked past the Eagle Vaults and decided to go in for a quick snack. Building looked OK from outside and menu pricing was very reasonable. However not so good inside. Floor looked as though it had not been washed in months, our wooden table appeared to have grime in the wood so sticky, no one came to wipe table before we ate. One TV with football on and the other with horse racing. Very noisy. We ordered and paid for our food and drinks order at the bar. It took them 25 minutes to make a capucinno coffee, which when it arrived was absolute rubbish. I ordered a small cup and a giant one arrived, they told me this was the small cup. I would not have described the drink as a capucinno it was more a hot milk drink with foam on top I could not taste any coffee at all.Our food order was for one portion of ham,egg and chips and one jacket potatoe with a bit of greenery on the side. We had to wait 50 minutes for this order to arrive. We would have walked out sooner had it not been raining so much outside.I suppose you get what you pay for, bad service, swearing and rowdy customers at bar and dirty floor. I would have described the whole place as a public bar and definitately not up to any sort of restaurants standards. I will not be going there again.

Went there with my family , ranging from ages 12 to 76 years,in a wet 1/2 term lunchtime . The food was good , the portions were great and the serving staff friendly and efficient .The prices were very good we thought and our party of 5 really enjoyed their lunch . A glance at the beer prices showed them to be very competitive too . The whole place would seriously benefit a refurbishment -this was most evident after a trip to the ladies loos which were pretty grotty . Would definitely come again though .

Fantastic atmosphere, friendly staff, great value. This is a little gem of a pub, I will definitely be returning, the food is excellent value for money, I had a steak and my partner had chicken, both were cooked perfectly especially since the chef managed to get my steak cooked exactly how I like it, which is rare these days in pubs. The staff were courteous and friendly and very helpful and even the manager was helping everyone out and making sure the customers had a good time. I will be returning on a regular basis. Great Job.

I visited this pub well over a year ago and at that time found it to be rather shabby and rundown. This time I was pleasantly surprised at the change. Clean, well maintained, garden area has obviously had a lot of work put into it. Choice of beer, spirits and other drinks good. Food is typically pub grub but great value for money. Staff very friendly, working hard on a Bank holiday.

Visited the Eagle expecting to get the usual cheap and cheerful food however, thanks to the new landlady an extra boost has been given to the food. The steak was as good a piece I've had in quite some time my wife and our 4 other friends were also very impressed with the quality and value for money. The beer was £1.99 a pint on promotion whenever sport is on. All in all a great afternoon out and our friends were more than happy. The beer garden is also an extra boon to this town center pub.

Eagle Vaults used to be the most popular pub for young people in Witney about five years ago, so I've been hundreds of times since then. This pub is aimed at the lowest common denominator, so don't expect anything special. In its favour, the building itself is quite nice, and it has enough courtyard seating out the back to seat about 50 people (though don't expect any nice views). It's right in the middle of Witney, too.Although the barstaff are quite friendly, they're a little unhelpful, and the cooks (more like 'microwave operators') are not good at their jobs. The food quality is typical of this style of pub, i.e. salty readymeals, but at least the drinks are cheap.I would discourage anyone from going here to eat, and only go for drink here if you're prepared to be around young people searching for the cheapest way to get drunk.

This is one of my favourite pubs in Witney because it has an exceptional atmosphere and the staff are just amazing. The landlady is definitely a leader who leads from the front. I love how diverse this pub is its very unique to walk into a pub be welcomed by staff who are pleasant and your also made to feel welcome by chatty and friendly locals. I have only heard good things about this pub especially the point that its a very "gay friendly" pub. And everyone is welcome and I feel from my experience that you are excepted as a person without being stereotyped. Hats off to the pub and the staff keep up the good work it shows!!

Buns for burgers seem to be from frozen. Scampi in breadcrumbs are cooked with the fat tooooo hot so food is cooked from outside in. Nachos and chilli beef gave me a dickie tummy. Staff apologetic but I feel 'chefs' are not as they seem but 'cook's' without a health and safety certificate or the qualifications to be a chef! Gave them 2 chances. What was I thinking?

Just had lunch here with friends and food is average with a very laid back atmosphere. If you're looking for simple "pub grub" and don't want to spend too much, this is the place.

I visited The eagle Vaults just the other day and what a surprise. It is situated on the high street and if you blinked you could miss it, take my advice and look for it and go in.What an experience, warm friendly welcome, lovely interior and then the back garden ( HUGE to say the least) I went in and had a beautiful meal with my family and left feeling special. I will definately visit again when I am in Witney. Thank you for making a normal day great.

The food here is cheap and varying in quality. The staff friendly, service of food quite slow. The grilled chicken was good and the Fish Pie was poor. So be selective in what you order. Also, beware when you go. We went on a Saturday night that was really suitable for eating, as the pub was far too busy. However, they were still taking food orders.

Had lovely roast dinner all contained in a large oblong yorkshire pudding. Everything was cooked well and was very hot. The only thing I did not like was that I needed more gravy with a yorkshire pudding that size but to be fair I didn't ask for more.

Any place pub that offers 2 lunches for £7 isnt really going to blow you away and wow you but if you go to places like this you are going to feel like you have eaten and it is cheap but not cheap and nasty like a Weatherspoons is , and the eagle vaults must have something going for it as it was a Wednesday lunchtime and it was packed , must be the place to be , nice local ales to.

Whilst visiting friends in Witney on a night out, we went here for some drinks. They had a Halloween disco on and we really enjoyed the atmosphere. I have never eaten here but the drinks were quite a reasonable price and we really enjoyed ourselves.

We decided to pop in for a bite to eat with my family today as we had not tried it before. I ordered off the children's menu for my 14 month old and ordered a jacket potato for him. And I ordered one off the adult menu for myself. Both of which come with (and I quote) "a crisp, fresh side salad". When both meals arrived I couldn't believe my eyes. The 'salad' if you can call it that, resembled the salad you get at the bottom of a salad bag which has been sat in your fridge for a week or 2-and I am not exaggerating! I wish I had taken a picture. Also, even though my jacket potato was more expensive and off the adult menu, my 14 month and I had identical portions which confused me greatly. I wasn't expecting a la carte and would never normally come on review sites to complain, but I do expect a meal that is edible, which it was not. Very dissapointed. Would definately not recommend.

Chip portions not consistent, seem to get fewer and fewer. Asked for battered sausage and it came without batter, second time in a row. Lost our custom.

Had a three night stay at the Bell loved it! I extended our stay by a night and couldn’t get the same room as our original booking not disappointed in any way. Our first night was in Teasel a lovely room plenty of room with a nice shower wash room. Nice big comfortable bed. Friday and Saturday night we stayed in the room Hazel it’s situated above the barn. Amazing room with great views across countryside. This room is big loads of space to chill after a busy day in the Cotswolds. A super king sized bed and lovely shower /bathroom (huge bath). We weren’t going to dine at the Bell but as we had booked the extra night decided to have evening meal and breakfast on our first night. Both meals were delicious so also booked for Friday evening again delicious. The staff at the Bell are all very friendly and helpful hard working as whatever we asked nothing was too much trouble whatsoever . Thanks to all at the Bell for making our first visit to the Cotswolds a very special experience. Richard and Keeli x

Following a family emergency, I rang to cancel my table and was charged £70 without my permission. They will say it's on the website, however it wasn't prominent enough for me to notice during the booking process. We had been before and found the food OK and the staff a little arrogant but wanted to try again as hoped it was an anomaly as the surroundings are lovely. There will not be a third time, I have been told by several people that this business makes a loss, that is hearsay and I can't confirm that but after this cynical charge, it would seem they have to make money at all costs.
