What a beautiful pub and restaurant in The Cotswolds. Warm and welcoming with the most delicious food being prepared and served. Understated elegance combined with food to die for. Love it.

We visited for lunch 3 months ago and were seated on a corner table. Our meals took an age to arrive and generally the service was poor. The chicken was meagre and bland but to be fair the fish was ok. Our bill was messed up with another table and when I checked later we were charged for drinks we had paid for at the bar. I contacted the restaurant immediately showing both payments. After 3 months of emails I have given up.

We made a lengthy trip out to The Wild Rabbit to celebrate a special occasion. On arrival we were ignored with no host in sight. Settled for a drink in the bar. Hooky very good. Eventually seated 20 mins after our booked slot and the plan was to have the Tasting Menu. Big mistake. 3 of the dishes just didn’t work at all; the chicken dish acceptable but nothing special with only the Scallop course working for us. First course was a weird medley of nearly raw squash with kale, the Scallop next was good followed by quarter of a chicken breast allegedly cooked in Amontillado which I couldn’t taste and a rolled morcel of leg meat, mushroom sauce and the smallest baby leek I’ve ever seen. Then came a most bizarre interpretation of apple and cheese which consisted of wafer thin apple with freeze dried blue cheese sprinkled over the top. Texture and taste was really unpleasant. Oh for a nice Cox’s and a decent slab of cheddar. The final course was incredible but not in a nice way. Some of the sickliest chocolate moose with two small scoops of parfait - one of which was mushroom flavour ! Other ingredients included some kind of jelly and a miniature biscuit. Quite inedible. In summary, to hit 1.5 dishes out of 5 when your tasting menu should wow you with every course was a poor show. I don’t know what direction this establishment is headed but it’s not for me. Just two other pieces of feedback for the owners would be 1. The open kitchen is situated in the restaurant but does the head chef need to keep shouting out ‘service’ every time something is ready ? 2. Is it normal practice to start cleaning down the kitchen whilst guests are still eating - walls being washed down, scrubbing brushes on the floors etc etc. All very distracting. So the food didn’t work but the staff did their best to work the room efficiently and effectively so credit for that.

Pleasant staff, great sommelier who recommended a fabulous wine - the highlight of the evening. Very nice setting, lovely open fires, great log burner smell and sound. Food was very average, didn’t really enjoy any of the dishes. Some were tasteless, some were just lacking in imagination, a couple were ok, the bread and butter was nice. My husband and I would have been happy with the wine and bread! Clearing the table took a while, I really don’t enjoy staring at my dirty plate! Expensive meal given we didn’t enjoy most of it! Waste of money. Go there for drinks not food!

It's complicated - that's how I feel about this review. So let's start with the good: the restaurant itself is beautiful - upscale but comfortable - the quiet luxury of the Cotswolds. The service was attentive. The food was prompt and the open kitchen was lovely. After many a 1-star Michelin meal, I was expecting a similar experience. And with prices to match most of the UK 1-stars, in some ways, Wild Rabbit hit the mark. The local fresh ingredients are apparent. The amuse bouche and the smoked Adlestrop dumpling were divine. But from there, everything else was just very good or good. Which isn't bad, but it's also not excellent, delightful, or surprising which is what we also hoped to experience. We had the chicken, which was juicy and perfectly done, but also not remarkable. The Hispi cabbage was good but left me wanting more. The house salad was my biggest disappointment (not salted properly) and lacking in flavor. It felt like it was a small dish and was therefore being ignored. But for me, the side salad is a detail - and that detail matters. What was interesting was our recent experience at the sister property "The Bell Hotel" in Charlsbury the night before. We were more excited and delighted after that meal. Because even if the food there was more typical of a Gastropub, it exceeded those expectations in both flavor and value. So would I eat at the Wild Rabbit again - yes. Was it very nice, yes. But could it be more like what I thought it could be - definitely. And from the hard work you can see in the kitchen, they care very deeply (so, I mean no offense to them). There's just room for a little more magic and delight (and a better side salad).

Nestling Cottage, 10/09/24 An overnight catch up with sisters in The Cotswolds found us at this gorgeously appointed cottage on the Daylesford estate (White Rabbit). Lovely linen, towels, toiletries and furnishings make for a very comfortable stay. However, there is room for improvement with attention to detail as follows: Arriving in driving rain we went round the village several times unable to find the cottage (there are no visible signs) so a pin drop or what three word description would be helpful. Also a curtesy umbrella would not go amiss. As it is situated on a two road junction it is incredible noisey from 7.30 am with numerous delivery and maintenance vehicles working right outside the cottage. This also means a direct line of site from first floor bedroom and bathroom and ground floor sitting room. Privacy blinds would be a sensible addition. We found an eyelash on the sitting room tea tray, several very wobbly floorboards in the dressing area (first floor), and bad smell in the kitchen when plumbed appliances opened. As the kitchen is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays and wanting to venture out again we contending ourselves with bar snacks (which were lovely) but be warned these are not available after 7.30 pm. Also the late check in (4pm) and early check out (10 am) is mean by standards of similar accommodation. .

The Wild Rabbit - Kingham: A Top 10 Cotswolds Gem We visit The Wild Rabbit regularly, and for good reason – it’s easily one of the top 10 pubs in the Cotswolds (in my humble yet absolutely correct opinion). From the moment you step in, the staff treat you like an old friend, and they’ve even charmed our dog with enough treats to consider moving in permanently. The atmosphere is pure cozy heaven, especially with that roaring fire. Their wine selection? Top-notch. The Pinot Noir? Divine. The only hiccup? Drinking that glorious wine out of a thick-rimmed ice cream glass! Nothing says "fancy night out" like sipping your fine wine while half expecting a scoop of vanilla to pop in! But hey, it’s all part of the charm. We’ll be back, ice cream glass and all!

Restaurant menu recently overhauled and very much for the worse. Having recently visited the Wild Rabbit to eat in their restaurant, I am sorry to say they have totally overhauled their menu and sadly they don’t make this clear anywhere on their website or when you call you book. I had visited the Rabbit on multiple occasions in the past and returned having enjoyed it. The menu is now very formal and doesn’t offer anything typical of a pub menu, there is also nothing to offer for kids (although we had been told on the phone there was a kids menu, as there used to be.) The menu used to offer more of a range including gastro classic pub dishes. We opted for the cote de Boeuf (a sharing steak) which I was well aware is a fatty cut of meat. That being said, the serving was well over 50% inedible fat and sinew - a really disaster of a dish for £100! Absolutely would not return here to dine, sadly.

The Wild Rabbit was our go to place, so when friends asked for advice on where to stay and eat, it had to be the Wild Rabbit. How we were so disappointed! Our friends booked several nights in a de luxe room at a large cost. On arrival informed they had been upgraded, how nice they thought. They were given a cottage, told they could not have supper as the restaurant was full on all nights. On day 2 after a long day sightseeing, they returned to find the cottage as they had left it! Nobel made, no bathroom cleaned. They were informed they didn’t service the cottages! No one had told them this, they thought they were having a luxurious weekend away! No offer of help! On another night we joined them for a supper in the restaurant. It was so cold we shivered all evening at our table. The staff dismissive, to down right rude! Two courses took over 3 hours! Over 1 hour between courses. We all ordered plaice, the only fish on the menu, what was served was definitely not plaice! When we asked what we had we were told it was plaice, but it was a large thick meaty flaked fish! No apology, just contempt! Breakfast as bad over cooked eggs, poor service. This establishment is now too big, too impersonal and certainly not worth the inflated prices! Don’t go here!

What a gorgeous location, we had been pining over a stay at the Wild Rabbit for quite some time so I was delighted when my husband surprised me with our stay. We were there for just one night but what a special evening it was. They kindly upgraded us to a cottage they had available so we had extra space, although I know the room we had booked would have been equally as lovely. The Nestling cottage provided us with some great amenities and would be ideal for a small family or two couples sharing. The area is peaceful and serene, the only thing I heard whilst in bed were the hooves of a horse passing by. We ate in the restaurant which had brilliant service and showed some excellent cookery skills by the chefs. We did have to ask for our amuse bouche which had been forgotten but this was quickly rectified and they even sent out a little congratulatory petit four to celebrate some news we had. If I had to be super critical I would have loved to have seen more mocktail options on the list but that is really me clutching at straws. Would stay again in a heartbeat.

Tucked away in Church Street in Kingham in the heart of the Cotswolds is a lovely hotel called The Wild Rabbit. The Pub at the hotel serves traditional British food which we were keen to try. Walking in the Cotswolds can be a tiring way to take in all the natural beauty and quaint houses but it also works up quite an appetite! We ordered a starter which was simply called Trout, Tomato, Gooseberry, Seaweed. The dish was refreshing in it's simplicity. For the main course we had the Roast Daylesford Organic Beef, Horseradish with Yorkshire Pudding. The Yorkshire Pudding had a savoury beef stuffing. The dish was accompanied with some roasted potatoes and a Cauliflower au Gratin. We had some Cider and a Red Wine to go along with the meal. All in all the food was quite satisfying and it gave us a chance to taste traditional British fare.

Overall 4 stars made up of 3 stars for the hotel and 5 stars for the restaurant. The restaurant had great food, great wine and a vibrant atmosphere. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and would return. We would not however, recommend the hotel. The hotel reception staff were junior and were unable to deal with issues that arose, including a broken TV and ants in the room. We had to follow up multiple times for things to be dealt with which was frustrating. There was a lot of noise from the pub music and heat from the kitchen which didn’t make for a relaxing atmosphere. Overall I would come back to the pub/restaurant but stay elsewhere.

The food was outstanding. We ate starters, mains and desert. The entire meal was delicious, great fresh ingredients and cooked to perfection. The tables were a lovely size, with plenty of room. This review is just regarding the bar. We have been more than 5 times to The Wild Rabbit and yesterday for the first time we had a bad experience (5th July 2024 at 8:30pm). We arrived and sat at the bar for 15 minutes, with no one else around us to be completely ignored by the guy working at the bar. His energy and demena was very rude and the fact that he made us feel purposely ignored after being in front of him for 15 minutes trying to get his attention...I think it says it all. Just to add to this, when we finally got him to look at us and we asked for a bar snack, he looked at the clock and said: you have got 5 minutes. It is a shame that one person can give such a bad experience when the rest of the staff were just fine. I think whoever runs the pub should make sure that their clients don't get this awful first impression as they come in, because I am sure that most of them will never come back.

We checked in late afternoon, staff were friendly and very welcoming, they certainly made us think we had a top notch room (The Fox). We found our room nicely laid out but very warm. The setting is perfect, such a quaint, tidy and friendly village. We were very much looking forward to our evening meal which we had booked in advance. Dinner was very disappointing, of the three dishes (one starter and two main courses) we had, the starter (trout) was very nice, however, the chicken dish (poached chicken) was pretty much tasteless, of poor portion size and vastly overpriced. Things didn’t improve as we returned to a very warm and very noisy room. There was a mobile Aircon unit in the room which sounded like an industrial generator running. After a pretty much sleepless night we were impressed with breakfast, a good selection of hot and cold dishes, and choice of tea and coffee. This place is very well decorated, both interior and exterior finishes are impressive, staff are very friendly but unfortunately the standard of food and comfort does not match the price.

A lovely Sunday night spent in the Cotswolds heartland. Full stars to the team at the Wild Rabbit who was wonderfully warm and welcoming in every way. The place of course looks oh so charming though I recommend the cozy pub side dining rather than the main dining room where the lighting is too bright and the music a tad too up tempo (for our taste, in this part of the country). The food served here is most definitely sitting at the top of the gourmet pub culinary spectrum

I love an English cottage and holidaying in the UK so I’ve been to a few. However it’s easy to see how kingham cottages have such a fabulous reputation . The cottage itself is stunning but the service and little touches are outstanding. The manager let us in at 12pm to unload our cool box into the fridge rather being strict with the 4pm arrival time. There was jam, butter, bread and all the ‘extras’ like oil, milk, coffee pods you could need. They even had a little gluten free hamper for me as I’d mentioned it in my booking. There was a note for the bride to be welcoming her and wishing her well for her upcoming wedding remembering I’d said she was getting married in Italy! They really did make the experience absolutely wonderful!

Terrible service, I don't even know where to start. 10 minutes being ignored on arrival waiting for a hostess to appear, 10 mins+ once sat down being ignored by everyone until we managed to get someone's attention to bring us a menu. Can't tell you who our waiter/waitress was supposed to have been as we just got served by whoever seemed to notice. It carried on in this way throughout the meal. At one point half way through our desert a waitress comes up and says she feels bad for ignoring us and did we need anything (No, obviously we didn't by then!). Another waitress jokes about taking wine left by another table. Same waitress interrupts while we are trying to discuss the service with the person we thought may have been in charge of the shift, she was joking about how terrible service was. Manager agrees and said he knows it was terrible. Surely if you can see it's terrible, do something about it! Perhaps even apologise before the customer has to bring it up. The food was outstanding. Genuinely delicious. So much so that despite being frustrated we decided to stay for dessert. We didn't ask for the 12.5%(!) service charge to be removed (actually didn't say anything until the bill was paid) because that's not why we raised the issue, but I was surprised that they didn't at least offer that. For such an expensive restaurant it really left a poor taste in our mouths, we won't be returning and won't be recommending it to friends (quite the opposite).

The cocktails are outstanding though the service really let it down. Our bartender really made us feel awful for ordering cocktails instead of beer or wine. It was beyond rude and actually we left as a result of it. We weren’t keen to call it an early night but didn’t feel welcome at the bar after her unkindness. We are very disappointed and feel like we have been treated unfairly. We visited on April 1 in the evening, to a venue half full. Despite this, we found ourselves behind another family of eight who had been waiting for 15 minutes without managing to get seated or even attended by any of the wait staff - despite them having a reservation that was now 15 mins overdue. We continued to wait for another 10 minutes and not a single member of staff came by despite several attempts to catch anyone’s attention. They seemed to be intent on avoiding any eye contact at all, and even when we did catch their eye, they quickly looked away - then proceeded to leisurely walk over to another table and ask for their order, all while pointedly ignoring the several groups who were waiting by the door. After several more minutes of futile attempts to politely trying to catch the attention from any of the wait staff, bartenders, or house staff, we decided to leave. However, we could see the family of eight who had been waiting for a long time before us, still waiting for their reservation which was now long overdue. It was notably impossible to ignore the fact that all of the people seated and being catered to were English or Caucasian, while all of the people who were being pointedly ignored at the door were of Asian or South Asian descent. We had heard great things about the Wild Rabbit, but this was appalling behaviour and we were incredibly disappointed.

My family and I came here today to celebrate my mothers 96th birthday, we didn’t tell the restaurant/hotel because she doesn’t like a fuss. We arrived just after 14:00 and introduced our arrival to who I guessed was a manager at the bar, he abruptly stopped me at the door and refused my party and I entry into the establishment. I explained that we have a booking under *family name* and only after counting the number of us, did he eventually allow us inside, (I could see the moneybags in his eyes). During our dinner, my son noticed that the same man who was at the bar was looking intensely at a few of his female employees behind the bar. Not sure what to think of this (rather creepy if you’d ask me). Anyway, the food was sub-par for the asking price, but I strongly recommend future analysis into the people you are hiring. After everything I’d expect this from a 3star… NOT! a 4star.

Second trip to The Wild Rabbit, first time staying (in the Beehive). Having booked in July for our December anniversary, we highly anticipated our weekend away at a country pub very close to our hearts. However - the experience certainly didn’t live up to the reputation or expectations that we had seen on the likes of Instagram. Having been told we were the first to book a dinner reservation for this date (in the restaurant) when booking in July, we were somewhat disappointed to be pointed to a table in the bar, amongst the local drinking crowd, right next to the cold front door. So much for the ‘romantic table in the restaurant’. Having questioned this with the staff, we were greeted with negative attitudes and even told that “changing our table was a risk for them” - sorry for booking in July and expecting better at £330/night. The staff then provided us a table in the dining room. Despite the quality of food being fantastic, the service was pretty damn awful. Negative staff, forgetting one of our starters, no sign of bread despite the ‘fancy’ butter on the table, and the lack of care and attention in general. I could go on… the restaurant lacked atmosphere and was reflective of a crisp December night, cold. The Beehive was lovely, but does have cracks starting to show. The highlight of this being a leak in the shower which dripped through the flooring and created a large puddle in the kitchen area on the ground floor (see below). Taking this into consideration, we certainly wouldn’t consider (or recommend) a stay at The Wild Rabbit at £330+/night. We also ate at their sister pub, The Fox at Oddington, which was lovely. The staff at The Wild Rabbit could certainly learn a thing or two about manners and decorum from the lovely team at The Fox.

I can't believe that there is no availability for a table for the whole of 2022. I tried to point this out that maybe there is a website issue (via an email) and got a very brusque reply. Not the type of reply I expect from a quality establishment. Maybe they are a bit up themselves.

We ate at the Wild Rabbit whilst staying in the hotel. We started with drinks on the terrace and definitely recommend the cocktails! Then had dinner inside, absolutely delicious steak. The breakfast is also brilliant.

Firstly for the things that spared this place a 1*....the venue itself is really lovely. Immaculately presented and very tastefully done out. Secondly, the waiting staff were really nice, very pleasant and polite. So why the bad rating...we went in for a drink and decided we wanted a snack. In the absence of a bar menu we went outside to the pizza servery to get a couple to share. Despite being sat in the bar area we were told pizzas cannot be eaten inside (despite being the venue's own food and served on a plate (no greasy cardboard)), a point that was rather brusquely reiterated to us by a bloke who I assume was the manager. We were offered to be re-accomodated outside but it wasn't particularly warm and we had an 18 month old with us, so we weren't prepared to move because of their stuffy policy. So back in we went, minus food. Shortly before setting off, one of the party went to order one to take away (I wasn't re-ordering on principle) and was told they had stopped serving...at 2.45. We ended up leaving shortly after 3 and hey presto there was a pizza in the oven. We'd seen them served to others and they were pretty small so no great loss at around £15 a pop (so not exactly a cheap option vs the a la carte we were restricted to whilst sat by the bar).I just can't stand this sort of nonsense - particularly when we wish to support the hospitality industry given recent events. We won't be back.

Very nice setting, interior has been well done and staff are lovely. Great drinks list, huge range of gins and other drinks. Mixed a good cocktail too.Given the pricing I found the food was a bit of a disappointment. Smoked salmon and terrine solid but not exceptional. Poussin was a nice dish, biggest let down was the steak - it was well cooked to rare and looked lovely on the plate with the simple presentation, but it really lacked flavour.Would visit again but would not rush back.

We were very much looking forward to staying at the Wild Rabbit and were put in the little cottage The Hedgehog which is so pretty and warm and cosy. The weather was very poor and when we went to bed there was heavy rain, as this is very small with windows in the roof you could hear the rain quite loudly - not really a problem. When we laid on the bed it was like lying on the floor with a blanket under you - just so hard, the pillow was foam but solid foam - not a good start for a good nights sleep! My husband eventually fell asleep but I could not, I realised that in the lounge was a sofa bed, so at 12.30 I was putting up the sofa bed and found a softer pillow in the cupboard, unfortunately no sheets but a duvet - I had a very mixed sleep on the sofa bed. In the morning I went to have a shower which was fine, when I came downstairs there was water flooding down from the ceiling just missing the bed! The shower was leaking. Such a shame as a lovely place. The staff were lovely and concerned, I asked if they had this problem reported before but they were all new staff so did not know.. They did refund half of the room rate but sadly we shall not return or recommend.

I think the title covers most of what needs to be said about The Wild Rabbit. We visited on Sunday with another couple on our way back from a trip to Worcester. As it was a Sunday it would have been rude not to have a roast. We had the beef and also the pork which I’d give a 9/10! The Yorkshire pudding was massive, the beef had two cuts the thinly sliced that you’d usually expect on a roast and then a wonderful slow roasted piece that was super succulent. Before our meals we received the most wonderful little homemade bread rolls, they were still hot from the oven. The Wild Rabbit is dog friendly which is great and many people do bring their dogs (including us) and they are treated equally as well as we are. If I was in the area I’d definitely visit here again!

"Possibly the best meal I've ever had-and I've had a few!We stayed at the Wild Rabbit, with friends in one of their little cottages called "Little Owl"-utterly idyllic and perfect in every way. Loads of room and everything was perfectly appointed. They have created a very clever 5 star experience that at the same time not lost the attractiveness of staying in a cottage. As for the restaurant-words can't explain how much I truly enjoyed my meal. Canapés outside on the private terrace for residents by an open fire. Beautiful cocktails for the girls and Spanish Estrella for the boys. Canapés were exquisite and beautifully presented with grace, charm and friendliness. We then went in the restaurant and again the same waitress (sorry I don't have her name) was highly knowledgeable about the menu which was really important particular since my wife is gluten intolerant. Aidan knew the wine menu inside out and we went for Alberino white and a very nice Sicilian red. They were not hugely expensive but absolutely delicious. The starter "duck egg" in a beautiful basket was quite simply out of this world and a personification of deliciousness! Very clever and very intricate.Afterwards I had possibly one of the most delicious steaks I've ever had which was a very generous proportion and beautifully cooked with a sensational tasty sauce. My wife had turbot and similarly absolutely loved it. The whole experience was extraordinary and it's unusual that I hunt out the chef but in this case I went to see the head chef Mr Nathan Eades to convey my enjoyment of the evening. He was thoroughly approachable and really appreciated the chat.I seriously can't wait to get back to this restaurant as it literally blew my mind with ingenuity, great quality food all encompassed by service and friendliness that is very rare these days.Price-it worked out about £75 per person but under the circumstances I thought this was terrific value for this quality of evening.I highly recommend this place for a special evening with friends, family, loved ones or work colleagues. It's definitely a place to be remembered and revisit it regularly. Thanks to Nathan and his colleagues in the kitchen.”

Arriving as normal for lunch outside today in advance of the official opening time to get a table - as per the first come first serve policy & statement on the website for weeks we were turned away as we hadn’t booked?! Even though there were a sea of empty tables.. after questioning we were informed those who had booked (inside) would need to be given the option to move outside because of the weather?! With a small child in tow we unfortunately didn’t have the flexibility to wait around for the hour & half later table offering & I found the treatment from staff / manager not what you’d expect as a Customer of a reputable business of whom you are a regular returning customer of! As we’ve always enjoyed it so much it’s a shame as it has very much made me not want to return. Just goes to prove all it takes is one experience.... please treat your customers better even if it is bad news you are delivering. Another piece of feedback would be to give notice on the website of a change in policy for people’s plans rather than basing it on the weather when it suits.

We went to lunch here today, it was a disappointing start when we were sat at a table where the radiator was blaring out heat despite it being 25 outside!! We asked to move tables and were shown a table in the aisle by the bar which was cramped and in a bad location despite there being nicer empty tables which we had to ask to move to and the attitude of one of the staff was not particular helpful. Our guests asked where the loo was and was told “the door which says loos” but no directions! The food was excellent and our Argentinian waitress was delightful. It was a shame that the the peonies on our table were brown underneath and the table next door one of the blooms was brown.

We came here for food but sadly was fully booked so we opted for a drink in the garden instead. After 30 minutes without service and others nearby being tended to, we managed to call over a waitress who was polite and took our drinks order. We then waited another 20 minutes for a pint and a half pint to arrive. Upon the Bill we asked a blonde slick back, possibly named James, to remove the service charge as we felt it wasn’t up to scratch. He then became very sarcastic and huffed and puffed before leaving. A very expensive mistake and won’t be returning. I hope James is on the other end of the same service one day.

Whilst the food is lovely service horrible, a lot of uninterested people running around doing their best to ignore customers and go out of their way to make you wait. We arrived at 11 said we'd like to sit outside for a drink and lunch server said we could choose a table. No one mentioned no food outside today as if they did we would have eaten in the pub. Ordered two drinks and once empty waited 30 minutes with empty glasses on the table. I decided to go in and try and fry two more. Bar tender could not care less about lack of service and two more drinks arrived 5 mins later. Again, our glasses were empty on our table and we were ready to order food, this time my husband went in and was told no food outside. Not once was this mentioned to us, we drove 2 hours for this lunch. Uninterested manager comped our drinks when table by window piped up to said they waited 10 minutes to get seated and service was shocking. If you are going to spend £100 plus on a lunch please do not waste your money here. You are treated so poorly for your business. It really is unacceptable. It's hardly any wonder you lost your star. Do better.

Stood and waited outside for 10 minutes whilst the staff constantly walked passed us.. eventually someone asked if you could help and we asked if they had a table for two for lunch.. she said she would find out and didn’t come back.. I then asked another member of staff if we could have a table for lunch after another 5 minutes and we went inside and were seated.. then we had another wait to get asked if we wanted a drink... and we then managed to order some food which was very good.. but for the amount of staff this restaurant has walking About!! and the price we paid for the food!! it is a complete joke.. no interest what so ever.. I personally think they could cut down on the amount of staff they have if they had some staff who care and know how to doThere job!!..

First trip back to pub, for over a year due to covid. Meeting friends for coffee. The open fire was very smoky so we opened a window as it was stinging our eyes and throat. The Manager Graham was SO patronising and rude and shut it tutting in a disapproving manner. Surely fresh air in these covid times is a good thing??Anyone would think he wasn’t pleased to have customers inside the pub again??!!

This was our first outing to a restaurant for a very long time so we were looking forward to this lunch. We have eaten here several times over the years so we were confident that this was a good choice.. I chose the pulled pork for lunch main course. Starters and dessert were fine. The pulled pork was remarkably tasteless not helped by a mixture of toppings and a soggy taco. I suppose it was trying to be Mexican. Local it was not - not sure about the fresh either. The house red was harsh.

The Wild Rabbit has a name as quite a posh pub yet it has an informality. The terrace area is without a canopy but in some ways would have detracted from the aesthetically pleasing facade of the pub with its avender pots and wisteria. It is a very conducive area The chicken wings were flavoursome with a delicate salsa sauceThe hamburger was high grade beef with generous accompaniments of gherkin tomato lettuce and cheese in a delicious brioche bun with proper potato chipsThe dessert was disappointment - the market garden fruit pavlova was average as it had the generic hard crusty inside which can be bought at any supermarket. To get another notch on the ladder please 'fait maison' or in houseThere was an absence of working heaters or blankets in the unusually unseasonal weather We were fortunate to be front of house and marquee erected in car park at back of hotel would have been a letdownIt was interesting that there were three stalls where the cooking was done outside - pizza taco and grills - it did not seem to diminish the quality of the food

It is hard to think of anyway in which the Wild Rabbit could improve, other than creating a constantly warm and sunny micro climate in Kingham! I am local and visit regularly and it is consistently superb. Throughout Lockdown the WR kept trading with a much appreciated takeaway offering, and over the past week it has been marvellous to sit on the Terrace and enjoy a drink and delicious food. Apart from the beautiful venue and delectable cuisine, the staff are truly wonderful and doing an outstanding job in these difficult times. Thank you!

Full disclosure - this review has nothing to do with the food. However, I would like someone from this restaurant to contact me to explain why the website publishes a no reservation policy, I called a couple of days in advance to confirm and the no reservation policy was reiterated. Show up for lunch early doors, plenty of free tables in plain view, my black family was turned away but other not so black families all happened to “have reservations” (which they supposedly don’t take?)

We visited for dinner on Sunday evening. The location and building itself is beautiful. We were the two of us and our two dogs who were welcomed and catered for. We asked for a different table than that we were allocated as we wanted something near the edge so the dogs would not be in the way - they happily moved us to a free table and brought over a water bowl. We ordered a couple of starters - beetroot and mozzarella salad and a charcuterie board. The salad was wonderful! The charcuterie had a selection of 3 cured meats, some bread, leaves and pickled onions. This was nice but asked for some olive oil for the bread otherwise it would have just been dry toasted bread. That arrived quickly so we thoroughly enjoyed the starters. Main course was ribeye steak and lamb - both cooked to perfection. It was one of the best main meals we have had in a long time, even the mash, veg and jus were just perfect. We didn't have dessert but enjoyed the wine. Great ambience, great food, polite and friendly service - would definitely recommend!

I've been visiting The Wild Rabbit for years albeit infrequently. It is always warm and inviting. Everything looks lovely and the service is excellent. I was just a little disappointed with the food today. Beetroot salad starter was smothered with balsamic dressing drowning out any taste of beetroot and rather solid bufala mozzarella couple with the spikey sort of salad that gets stuck in your throat. Pollock main course was better with tomato risotto which was well-cooked but a little tart. Egg custard pudding was excellent albeit the fig related garnish over fussy and not nice. Sticky toffee pudding ok but no depth of caramelisation to the sauce - just sugary. Perhaps we just had an off-day on a Tuesday lunchtime but the prices are on the high side so I expect it to be better. However, I would revisit.

We stayed here just before the first lockdown when our holiday was cancelled. From start to finish the service was faultless. We were offered umbrellas and coats if we were going to go on a walk. A blanket was offered if you were sat outside. It was the little touches that really made the difference. The staff are attentive although not intrusive which is perfect for a relaxing weekend. The old wooden style farmhouse and open fire made it feel very homely and a great break from the hustle of the city.Every meal we had was incredible as well as the wine recommendations with each dish we ate. Breakfast particularly stood out as the best I’ve ever had in the UK. Will definitely be returning and couldn’t recommend it enough if you would like a tranquil UK break.

We don’t often experience lunches which I can, with all honesty, are perfection in every aspect. The management and staff were professional and attentive without being pretentious. The food quality, level of cooking and presentation were all truly outstanding. OK it’s not cheap (£150 for three courses plus drinks.... but we did have ‘bubbly’) but exceptional experiences don’t come cheap. I find it remarkable and unbelievable that anyone could find fault. If you haven’t yet been tempted to book a lunch at the Wild Rabbit then do so before you leave this planet. You won’t regret.
