3 of us went for Sunday lunch. We really enjoyed our time here. I think the current owners are relatively new. The whole place had a lovely vibe, driven by the female owner front of house, who told us her husband was the chef. We all had a Sunday roast, one beef, one lamb and I had the vegetarian option. They were all delicious with plenty of vegetables, though you can add extra side orders should you wish. The food was hot, not always the case in some places and very tasty. We will most definitely be back, maybe one evening.... Good luck to the owners, they deserve it.

As somebody who has worked for the Soho House group- you can f that place off and get an even better scotch egg here. Roast potatoes almost as good as my grandmother’s which is an extremely high bar. Staff are welcoming and charming. My only complaint would be their early close on Sundays, but one supposes people do need time to rest.

We went to The Fox Inn in Middle Barton for dinner last weekend. We cannot speak highly enough of this pub. It has been transformed. The staff were incredibly welcoming and went out of their way to make sure a friend with a nut allergy was taken care of. The food was delicious, the staff amazing and the atmosphere fantastic. We are so pleased that this is our local pub and wish it every success! Highly recommend visiting for a meal, drinks or both - and it’s also dog friendly!

We were taking a short break in the area for my partners birthday with friends and found this lovely pub up the road from our cottage. Such a friendly local pub with a traditional feel. The food was amazing and I can highly recommend the ribs and fish & chips. The new owners were very welcoming and I am sure will make a great success of this local pub with the delicious food and fine ales they serve. Certainly would recommend this pub for great food and well kept beers and ambience.

Visited the Fox quite a few times since the new tenants (Belinda and Mark) took over. Lovely atmosphere and very welcoming - a great pitstop on a dog walk or a perfect stop at the end of one (large beer garden with views of the countryside and sunset). Dog biscuits behind the bar are always welcome! Ate for the first time yesterday (Sunday 19 Feb 23) and the food was delicious - a perfect combination of textures, flavours and temperature. Made sure to book in the pub rather than the restaurant, so dog could come with. Definitely going back and would highly recommend (booking is always a good idea).

Phenomenal visit to The Fox Inn. Lovely decor and friendly feel. The publican mentioned to us that they had only recently started doing food and I can confidently say they’ve already nailed it. The variety on the menu is brilliant, we had two chicken roasts, two beef roasts, one fish pie and one plantain burger and all were exceptional. To top it all off the service was impeccable.

Chunki (chef) Lauren and David (Landlords) new owners since last November. They did a lot of hard work during Lockdown and the place is a delight. It is a beautiful 17th Century pub BUT they haven't fallen into the awful trap of hanging the place with naff horse brasses and pretend hunting horns etc etc: it is very simple and comfortable, the welcome was warm and charming. Really good pub food, but beautifully presented without being pretentious. Generous portions, flexibility for allergies and vegetarians. The beer is extraordinarily good, from local breweries. Try the "Shagweaver' (very soft and sweetish) and "Hooky" (more bite) They are delightful people and really do deserve to do well.

My partner and I pulled into the empty car park of this pretty little pub unsure if it was even open so Mr. nipped in to check if food was on and if we could bring in our Labrador, Poppy. He emerged a second later with a hearty thumbs up. We got such a lovely welcome from the young couple, who I gathered are the new owners, and a fresh bowl of water was offered straight away for the dog, along with a nice fuss. As the only punters we were told we could sit anywhere but we opted for the cosy restaurant area which was dotted with quirky pictures, nick nacks, a cute old piano and a fish tank housing African dwarf frogs among others! We ordered an ale each and fish and chips but could never have expected such gorgeously presented, delicious food. The fish was cooked to perfection and the chips, my life, the chips were to die for. Served alongside freshly popped, sweet peas and homemade tartar sauce. Who would have thought the humble old fish and chips could reach these heights?! We promised ourselves there and then that we’d be back, even though it’s a fair drive from home. I need to try everything else on the menu but as Mr. is pescatarian he’ll be having the fish and chips again (which I know I’ll be slightly jealous of!) We really hope to see more people inside next time, it’s perplexing how such a lovely place with friendly staff and AMAZING food was empty for our entire visit even if it was a Wednesday lunch time. I know if I lived locally I’d practically live there!

This was our first visit to The Fox for a number of years despite living in the village. The pub had been run down by a stream of erstwhile temporary landlords and had become something of an eye sore!! But no more!! The garden has been made over compete with a goat enclosure, Aun't Sally and plenty of tables for outdoor dining and the inside has similarly received a face-lift which we unfortunately didn't see due to COVID restrictions. We were warmly welcomed by David and were seated promptly. Orders were taken swiftly and food arrived very quickly indeed. I had the locally sourced burger with truffle mayo and triple cooked chips... nom nom nom! Very good indeed. The bread was super fresh and the burger cooked to perfection. The 2 smallest rug rats had a healthy portion of chicken nuggets and triple cooked chips... the youngest said the nuggets were so good she didn't need ketchup... winner!! The girls didn't eat their bbq beans but they're weird!! We will definitely be returning!

The Fox has just reopened by the new owners after being in lockdown. Luckily for us they set up the garden for the customers. What impressed me so much was how the new owners Chunki, Lauren and David welcomed us. David showed us through to the garden and came and took our drinks order. . We were peckish and said that we would like to order food, however our friends were joining us and would be arriving late . He checked with Chunki the chef who told us that he would keep the kitchen open until our friends arrived. So glad he did as we ordered his home-made chilli con carne , which I have to say was the best I’ve ever tasted. We also ordered the battered haddock with fries it was perfectly cooked and the quality of the fish was excellent. The Amstel draft beer went down a treat as well as a bottle of the red house wine. An absolutely brilliant afternoon in the sunshine. It was encouraging to watch David and Lauren planting vegetable seeds in the new allotment , so that the chef will be able to cook the fresh ingredients from the garden . We could see by chatting to him that he was passionate about his cooking. These guys have great plans for the pub and will be organising events in the coming months Will we go back ? Yes definitely !

Not been here for a while so called in to check it out again. Seems like there's been a few changes of tenant, never a good sign, however the food was to a good 'village pub' standard with ample portions and very reasonably priced - I'd venture to say one of the best value places in the area. Overall the experience was not one to be repeated and I am surprised because they could make this person so much nicer, friendly cleaner and more appealing.

Stayed at an airbnb for 2 nights in Middle Barton, this was the only pub in the village so thought we would give it a try. Walked down on Monday but found it was closed despite being advertised as open on the website (spoke to a local and apparently nothing is open on Mondays). It was open Tuesday so we popped in for a drink. Only two cask ales on despite having many advertised online, but had London Pride which I like so this was fine. Was planning on ordering food but decided not to as the lady behind the bar looked at me like I was talking Farsi when I asked if I could get some olives (listed on their online menu under the “bar nibbles” section, but don’t exist apparently) so we instead came to a lovely Lebanese restaurant called the Cinnamon Stick on the other side of the village for dinner. To summarise, a standard village pub and okay for a tipple, but don’t expect above average service and be wary of disparity between the online menu/opening times and reality.

I stayed around the corner in an AirBnB on a recent visit to Bicester Heritage (Honeycomb cottage which was beautiful). One of the reasons to choose the cottage was walking distance to a local pub.We were 2 brothers with our children and I have to say this place was probably one of the most welcoming experiences I have received at a pub. Even though we've never been there before we were treated like locals. The food options were really good and you can tell everything is prepared freshly and there is pride in the offerings. I was particularly impressed with the kids, who chose Chicken Nuggets and Chips, the nuggets were breast meat, with a lovely light batter all homemade. The beer was good too. We stopped here tonight, (Friday) on our way home to Bedfordshire. It's a typical village pub, well supported by locals both eating and drinking. A vibrant atmosphere together with a welcoming log fire. Inside the pub it has stone walls and flagstone floors. Quite basic. Two of us ordered fish and chips and one person had bangers and mash. The portion sizes were large. Unfortunately the plates were stone cold, which meant that our meals went cold quite quickly.

The pub is fairly small and intimate, decorated in a tradition style. We both ordered onion soup to start which came with 2 thick slices of bread. Unfortunately the waitress forgot to provide us with cutlery prior to delivering the food so we had to wait while she went to get it. As the pub was empty I don't know what had distracted her but she did apologise and the service apart from this was fine. The soup was very tasty as were our main meals. My husband had a chicken burger which consisted of a very tasty chicken breast in a bun and I had creamy mushroom tagliatelle which was very nice.

Was greated by a friendly barman we told him we had pre booked he gave us some menus and showed us where our table was. We both chose the roast a big portion was plenty of meat and a separate bowl of veg which I liked as I don't like carrots so didn't have to pick them off my plate the only criticism I have was the roast potatoes were a little disappointing they tasted like they had been sat out for quite a while. The only slight con I have is there could be a bit more seating as they table we sat out was very cramped but I guess It depends how much space the pub has to offerThank you for a nice lunch

Visited this lovely little pub last weekend having been disappointed by our hotel a few miles away. booked a table but quite quiet so ate in the bar. Two course dinner, outstanding garlic prawns and the stuffed mushrooms. Mains - lamb shank and haddock and chips - big portions well cooked - chef (co-owner) on a roll that evening. best food for a long time. really friendly little pub, great service and value for money. try the rhubarb gin - very nice on ice!!! AAA+++

Looked for somewhere to eat after a drive out, went to one pub, they stopped serving food at 14:00, then carried on looking for somewhere else to eat found this lovely little pub serving food The Fox Inn - Middle Barton. We ordered drinks and food, I ordered a small haddock & chips, my partner order a large lamb shank. When our food came - WOW my fish meal looked so enormous hate to think how big the large meal would have been. It was very very nice, salad was included in my meal. My partner managed to eat his meal, staff were friendly. Would give this pub five stars, will definitely go back again. Thx to all staff.

My wife and I booked a midweek break with our pet dog. Upon arrival we were shown to our room which was spotlessly clean and very well furnished and equipped. The bed was superbly comfortable and a good night's sleep was assured! Dinner was absolutely superb, first class locally sourced ingredients. Cooked to perfection by the top chef - Adam Brown. Breakfast was again top class. Staff were welcomimg friendly and helpful. All in all a superb midweek break. Highly recommended and we will certainly be revisiting again soon. Our dog was very well looked after with a comfy bed and treats.

A nice pub with lots of options for families. Staff were really friendly and helpful for was good but not of the greatest quality. My burger was tasty but dry and nothing on side with burger and chips e.g salad or slaw

We came in on a Friday night at 6:30pm on the off chance we could get a table. Very accommodating whilst already busy with locals having drinks/meals. We were served promptly and chose two meals from the ‘favourites’ board. Good quality food, cooked well and really tasty. Reasonably priced too with generous portions. Our only negative was that the guy on the bar was completely swamped! People waiting to be served and working the restaurant too… he remained courteous and attentive whilst stretched but in our opinion there should have been another staff member as small errors in the orders, not bringing condiments etc when requested due to his busyness could have been easily avoided. All in all though a great place to come for an impromptu evening meal. Thank you

Very warm friendly atmosphere, log fires, very low ceilings and old worldly building. The food was exemplary,Sunday roast and was delicious
