Food takes ages (45 mins at least) unprofessional staff, small food portions and extortionate prices. The food is also very low quality, not worth the price of time

Arrived here after getting off the Thanet Open Top Bus with a lot of other passengers and my two grandsons and wife. What a mistake that was. The first impression is to see a rundown building which looks as if it hasn’t had a coat of paint for many many years. The gardens are untidy, overgrown and the purpose built flower boxes have a few struggling plants hanging on waiting to die from a general lack of attention or care. The children’s area has 4 or 5 old pieces of play equipment which probably belong to the 1950’s, and I think that the boats on the pool must be the original boats from way back when? We didn’t use the toilets but speaking to other passengers it seems that they too were not pleasant to use and were lacking essentials like toilet paper and general cleaning!!! Unfortunately having got off the bus we had to wait an hour before we could get back on as buses only run hourly, so we decided to have a coffee. The young girl serving the ice creams was pleasant enough but the other girl serving the coffee was I think just there out of necessity. No smiles and absolutely no interaction with the customers. We should have got off a stop earlier by Ramsgate harbour as there is basically nothing to do up by the boating pool for an hour with 2 young boys, apart from walking on the cliff top overlooking Pegwell Bay. This place could be a goldmine if only the owners realised the potential this place offers. I used to come here with my own children when they were younger but unfortunately things have stood still in time, but obviously not for the better. What a Shame. So I would suggest to stay on the bus by the boating pool and get off elsewhere.

We thought we would revisit this cafe with my mother in law for a bite to eat as last time we visited it was not good. We ordered our food and drinks and collected our cutlery but there were no forks so told the young girl who said sit down I will bring them to you . When our food arrived the cheese on toast had thin cheese slices on each piece of toast so not much cheese . The cheese burger and chips looked like the burger had been reheated and the bun was hard and the chips were sparse . The scrambled egg on toast looked half cooked . We had to asked for our forks as there still were none in the cutlery tray near the counter . Yet again we were disappointed with the food and service so will give this place a wide berth in the future .

Was looking forward to trying this place, what with it being in such a great location. However, sadly the breakfast we were served consisted of very poor quality ingredients. The cheapest sausages you can imagine, cheap fatty bacon & if you are going to offer cooked tomatoes, don't just put a couple of thin slices on the plate.

This is not fine dining it is a Caff, old style, but you get a great breakfast and one of the best views in Ramsgate. For us it is also full of wonderful memories as we having been eating here for decades when we visit Ramsgate. I hope it stays and they find the money to invest a little more in the upkeep.

This place is in a prime position along esplanade in Ramsgate next to the open top bus stop. It has greatly gone down hill. The planters out side are full of weeds, and over all looks neglected. The toilets were by far the worst I have ever been in, it was first thing in the morning and yet no loo roll or hand towels , the flushes didn't work and the whole block appeared to have not been cleaned in weeks!. The food was however o.k

This place has some real potential and is in great location, next to the boating pool with sea views. There is a certain rustic charm to the building which treads a fine line between rustic and just plain rusty. The Cafeteria seems to offer a range of food from pizza to fry-up, however it was the coffee machine that I had spotted and was hoping for good things, after all what would be nicer than sitting in the sunshine, next to the boating pool, sipping a freshly made latte? Unfortunately, the latte I purchased wasn't exactly how I would describe coffee let alone a latte. I can only describe it as a hot, beige tinted watery milk drink. Needless to say, I didn't finish it and sadly will not be back. Such as shame as this would be a great location for enjoying a nice coffee.

Unfortunately a sorry state of affairs here! For such a lovely location on a hot summer’s day the food was poor. Ordered 2 paninis, advised shortly after that they’d run out so would sandwiches be ok? Accepted the sandwiches…..they were terrible, tasteless (bacon barely cooked, Brie had no flavour and might as well have had a whole onion in the cheese one. These were served with a sorry side salad of iceberg lettuce, a slice of cucumber and tomato! Why can’t eateries throw some colour on the plate! Nearly £12 for 2 toasted sandwiches is awful. Will not be returning. They’re missing a big trick here, it has so much potential!!

Went there with my toddler and partner the kids play area hasn't been weeded and the weeds are terrible the pallet benches haven't been sanded or treated was horrible to sit on and dangerous not much of children play three old mental things a see saw round about and something else also there dumping ground for the boats which are broken looks like, none of the ground is maintained the water looks horrible too foamy on the outskirts of the pool. The food is a rip off I order a panini and chips got about 10 Chips for £2.90 and panini was nice but bout came to £8 something glad I didn't have the other children on me too would of cost a fortune for lunches. Shame it's not a family orientated place anymore. Needs new owners who have a passion to look after it and bring it back to its former glory. Wouldn't go back or recommend for families

When you read they serve coffee, what they mean is the have a machine that makes all the right noises, then the child serving gives you a cup of hot milk with a sprinkle of something brown! Cappuccino it wasn’t, could not even taste any coffee, and the brown stuff added no additional flavour to the milk.

Three adults and two children visited, and not for the first time, on Saturday 05/09/2020. The childrens' meals were great and really good value for money but... one rasher of bacon only in a bacon sandwich for the adults and the cheese on toast was just a cheese slice that had been left to warm up on the bread which was only toasted on one side. £2.95 for the sandwiches and £3.25 for the cheese on toast I'm sorry to say was a bit of a rip off. Other than that the coffee was piping hot and the social distancing cannot be faulted.

Have been coming here once a month, sometimes more for the last few years. The staff are friendly and the meals snd drinks are reasonably priced. Usually when we walk our pup we stop and have an afternoon tea and out of season it’s calm, quiet and relaxing. In the summer it’s full of families, kids on the swings or boating lake or small track at the side of the building. Its a convenient drop off for those walking along the top of the cliff. Over the Christmas week they are often open too, cosy inside and you can enjoy toast and tea and then brave the winds as you take a brisk walk and look out to sea. It’s nice to stop off, have a tea and biscuits and it’s very dog friendly so you always meet others who’ll offer advice on dogs. Haven’t used the loos so can’t comment but handy if you get caught short!

My son has allergies and the curry sauce tasted extremely nutty so my husband politely asked what was in the sauce to which the lady replied we can't tell you!! However the sauce tasted just like a curry cooking sauce from a jar it was disgusting, I'm pretty certain that's what it was slopped into a cereal bowl, chucked in the microwave and served up to us still in the bowl now with a scummy skin! I wouldn't expect too much from this place. It's had a refurb recently and a change of management but ultimately it is still a cheap cafe in a nice spot. Sausage beans and chips, egg and chips - that sort of thing. Sausages were cheap, coffee was bland (toast was really nice golden doorstep with butter). Decor involves a lot of matt black but the furniture is still shonky and why Oh why have they filled an adjoining room with 20+ one armed bandits? An art gallery, craft shop or toddlers play area would bring in far more punters - who might even eat at the cafe! Sitting by the boating lake is nice, and you can see the sea from the terrace. Always woth a visit with the kids but don't expect gourmet lunches.

Went here for breakfast on a recommendation. First of all the prices for a vegetarian breakfast are ridiculous. Due to dietary requirements I asked to not have certain items on the breakfast. I then asked if I could have an extra egg in place of the 3 items and hot drink I didn't have. The response was that it would cost me an additional 80p which is ridiculous seeing as I didn't have other things and would still be charged the same amount PLUS extra for an egg. The wait for the vegetarian breakfast was 20 minutes, it wasn't even busy. When I went to look in to see where our breakfasts were they were sat on the side waiting to be brought out. Asked the waitress if we could take them, told she would bring them out.... again, waited 5 minutes. As a result our breakfasts were not hot, and I even found a nice short hair in my breakfast. The taste was also disgusting, I couldn't taste anything other than grease/oil. When I told the waitress I found a short hair she said she'd tell the chef. This lovely experience cost a total of £15. DO NOT GO HERE.

The surroundings of the rich quarter of Ramsgate lull you into a false sense of security, as you arrive the attached facilities look inviting, a peddle-lo pool, some racing carts and a play area. Before we explored these we decided to have something to eat in the well established classic 20's style lido building housing the cafeteria. After settling in to an old wobbly table and securing what appeared to be the only high chair, we went through the menu and decided to go to the bar and order, it wasn't until after all the orders had been placed that we were informed they only except cash and no cards!!

We immediately noticed changes - for the better - and then pleased to see that Katy has returned to run the cafe after a year away and it being run by others. Good selection of food in a pleasant place, great free play area for children and of course the lake will be buzzing with people in the boats when the weather improves. A good improvement last year was the repainting of the lake and this year the café has been decorated and much improved. This is one of our favourite places to go to for a light lunch and a good pot of tea and we were pleased with our very tasty paninis this visit. In the small time we were here on a Saturday afternoon we got to see every reason why someone would not want to go here for anything. As we approached the service counter we felt rushed and the lady was distracted whilst taking our order - we wanted cold food which was advertised on the menu with a sticky label. The menu was laminated the tables clean and tidy some tables had chairs that were flimsy and out of date the carpet was frayed and the glass above the games room entrance was cracked, there were dead flies on the window sills and the windows were dirty. We didn't notice the details until we sat down and felt harrassed as we had been told to get our own bottles from the fridge -behind the service counter for the ice-cream (so it was obvious we were supposed to be served these) and at £1.50 for a fruit shoot/ other bottles I was not impressed! We ordered a baguette for myself and partner and were told they don't do a childs portion size so I offered to share mine. Our order took ages to arrive - whilst waiting my partner said how long does it take to make a sandwich? My son was bored and I was trying to distract him from playing with the dead flies. I noticed a mirror that aids staff to supervise the games slots and penny machines. The food arrived and was stale cooked to order baguette rolls like the ones you get in Tesco cut in half. skinny but about the right length we saw no price for the baguette but judging by the price charged it was reasonable for two sandwiches and 3 drinks £9.50. (that's assuming we paid for the bottles I was told to help myself too). During our stay we noticed a queue develop so that people who wanted ice cream were queueing our end and food on the right. There were no signs to indicate this. The gentleman serving ice-cream took a large bite of his sandwich before serving the ice-cream to some customers and wore no gloves and chewed with his mouth open so that we could all see how much he had left to finish before he handed over the ice-cream. I found this rather repulsive. The manageress seemed to be lacking somewhat on her service as a large group entered the cafe and asked to sit at a table with a single portion of abandoned chips - she hesitated and then eventually moved the chips to another table before wiping down the table very briefly which flicked a chip to the floor as she went to walk away almost stumbled as she tried to pick up the chip off the floor. Not to be a picky person but after everything else we had seen this just seemed to ice the cake so to speak. The only thing I would say was good was that it was in the right location at the right time. The drinks were cold and thankfully sealed so that hygiene was not an issue. partner used the mens loo and a private soap dispenser had been placed and it was clean. The games room was badly spaced so that people wanting change had to shove past us when we were using the machine.I Overall facilities were satisfactory the Senic boating pool looks lovely but the Cafe needs improving I would like to see fresh Cold food served - and a rustic or Victorian style instead of a factory Greesy cafe - all it was missing was the nets on the windows to complete the scene - I was very disappointed as I expected the new owners to see that the old style chips n nuggets just isn't suitable for a hot heat wave which is when this attraction is going to be most popular. Chalk board of sandwiches freshly made with local ice-cream much like Kernsey abbey with fresh home made rustic cake all get people visiting rather than a bowling alley chippy!I would hope this review helps the new owner as it is obvious they need some guidance here as they don't seem to know what a gem they have!

Staff were friendly we had omelette and fresh salad it was lovely , kids had fish fingers ,chips n peas , was a generous portion (they couldn't eat it all but might have had something to do with a boat ride grandad promised them !) played in the park mostly on the bouncy castle but went on swings, slide and dinosaur.Spoke to staff about having grand kids birthday party there and popping down at weekend to pay deposit , really liked it and so glad the pool is clean now hopefully will see some ducks next time we go down there x

We took our brownies and guides there for end of term food and play. Fantastic time had by all good food, excellent service and they really enjoyed play area and karaoke. Very family friendly owners catering for all ages. Well worth the prices.

I was lucky enough to hang out with the team today and they are the loveliest group of people. So attentive and you feel really looked after. We had a great afternoon while we were shooting a bridal styled shoot there. I love the nostalgia it creates, seeing the club with their boats on the pool, it is a very special place.

Went there for the first time since the new owners took over, they were very nice, I didn't like the new decor, seemed cold somehow, any way, the new menu seemed sparse and uninviting, so I went for the"Kerry burger" and it was HUGE and delicious!!!! The coffee was unlimited, which was perfect for me. Apart from getting some home cooked roasts, etc on the menu, I'd say they're doing alright.

The food menu was no good, No roast dinners, no fish or scampi,no jacket potatoes,no salads and no vegetarian meals. Staff not suitably dressed. Cakes not covered up. We often dined there and took friends and family there, but no more unless menu changes and things change would like to support new owners but they will have to do some changes if they want to succeed .

Ladies, what hard work you have put into updating and making the restaurant sooooo much more inviting and enjoyable. The services was fabulous and all staff were friendly and helpful, can't believe it was only your third day of opening. Well done you. Food was the best for us adults and also the children, no complaints there. I know you have a lot to do to bring the boating pool back to how it should be, all I can say is that you are doing a grand job so far and cannot wait to see the progress you make, which I know you will as the enthusiasm that came across was like a breath of fresh air. Look forward to going back.

Just had a trip there with wife to have a coffee.... Latte actually, £1.90 from a small, and it is small. Well, in a nutshell I returned it as was disgusting. It was more akin to watery instant coffee with next to no milk and dressed off with some sort of froth!! Get a coffee elsewhere at least dick Turpin wore a mask and told you why he was robbing you!

How they could justify the dripping mound of sloppy, tasteless slush as ice cream, I do not know? They also need to wake up to reality with their competitors. £2.60 for a double cone which equated to a small come elsewhere and mostly ended up on the ground, all over us and our bags. If your machine cannot cope with the heat, don't have the audacity to sell it. Will never go back.

Go here approx every three weeks. The food is standard. But if there is a group of more than 4 of you they will bring your food out staggered. So a lot of the time one person would of finished there cooked breakfast before other people on the table had even got theres. Also its quite common for them to get orders wrong so have been given white bread when asked for brown. Little details like that need to be concentrated on. Then im sure people would come back for more.

We enjoy visiting the Boating Pool Cafe. In good weather it is lovely to siut outside with perhaps one of their tasty paninis and a cuppa while watching people enjpoy themselves in the pedalos and boats on the lake. Food is good value, always freshly cooked and the staff are welcoming, helpful and friendly. Views of Ramsgate port and a lovely cliff top walk at the bottom of their stairs. A large free childrens playground as well to keep the yoiung ones amused while adults enjoy their food and drinks. Thoroughly recommend a visit and am sure, like us, you will return again and again.

I dropped in a couple of weeks ago whilst on a bike ride and sat outside with a cream tea.The place does indeed have an charming, old-fashioned 1960's feel and I was surprised to find that it still existed.Places like this are rare nowadays and can still appeal, especially to young families, so deserve to survive. With this in mind it was disappointing to find that the catering was also of a 1960s standard. The pre-packaged double cream had obviously been living in the freezer and had separated into an unpleasant granular substance. the scone had also come from the freezer and had barely defrosted. Jam was of normal pre-packaged standard. Tea was ok and came with additional hot water. It wouldn't take a lot for the place to raise its game to modern standards.

Just returned from a visit to the Boating Pool with my family and felt I had to leave a review as the one before seemed a little harsh. Yes, its a bit tired in places, the water is a little murky and some of the playground equipment could do with an update. But the place has a real old fashioned charm and our children had a great time playing in the playground and having a go on the pedaloes. The food is nothing special but reasonably priced and cooked fresh to order - the kids meals were well cooked and came with ice-creams in toy shaped holders - a big hit! For the grown ups, it is a pleasant spot on a sunny day with lovely views over the sea. I would certainly recommend a visit for a fun, retro day out.

I was astounded to read the review from yesterday. It did not sound like the same place at all. A friend and myself visited today with our 2 grandchildren and were VERY dissappointed. It all had a really tired feeling to it. Only the building on right was open, the other looking desolate and overgrown. The boating pool was deep green with algae and the boats were old. Cost was £2.50 per person not a boat, small children had to be accompanied by an adult or an older child making each pedalo at least £5There were no deckchairs out, the cafeteria had no table cloths as per their publicity photo, the cod we had was small, all skin, batter and bones - although the kids meals were good. Our complaint was not dealt with speedily enough. The childrens adventure playground was in need of repair with the ground cover showing through the bark chippings in many places. If it had a complete makeover last year then they should have repeated it again this year and I would certainly not recommend a visit

This quaint 1930s boating pool harps back to a bygone age. Constructed like a lido and sited on top of the cliffs above the yacht & commercial harbour, it offer safe canoeing and pedaloes for the young ones, well it is only 2 feet deep, at £2.50 per person per half hour. My grandkids loved it and they have zorbing balls too which they begged to go on next time. A little cafe with a bar served reasonably priced fare, nothing special but good honest sea side food, snacks including egg & chips or beans on toast at £3 if you prefer. Lunch came in at a little under £12 for 2 adults and 2 kids with drinks, so good for families on a tight budget. They have free deckchairs, a kids play park and reasonable (old but clean) loos. Nearby you can walk the wide path on top of the clifs and watch the shipping or the old folk play bowels. A must for a morning or afternoon visit for about £20 for 4 if you eat at the cafe, or take a picnic and eat on the promenade, parking in easy walking distance is FREE (Hooray, that is rare nowdays) and if you must there is a beach down the steep cliff stairs, but only rocks at high tide.

Food was good, place was almost empty but service very slow. Had a Black Friday voucher for half price food. Checked before service as limited menu due to kitchen storage problems. Told it could be definately be used on steak as it wasn't a special or reduced menu. However on receipt of the bill was told it could not be used. Not happy but paid up.

Very expensive for a very small coffee as cups seem to have got smaller to when I last was there, and not nice to see a team leader passing cups over to customers by the placing hands on the top of the cups rather then the handles , then putting scones out without even washing hands ,can say I will not be returning .

Lovely place. Yeah sure it's a bit dated, but that kind of adds to the faded seaside glamour charm. The owners were lovely, and the fish and chips was exceptional, the best I've had in ages. Great mug of tea as well. Top marks.

Just went to the Thursday night Steak Deal - that's £45 for Ribeye Steak for 2 people plus a decent bottle of red. Steak was superb and cooked to perfection. Will definitely be going again, great value
