Had a delicious pizza on a lunchtime stop over here. The pub is immaculately clean and beautifully restored. Clean beer and friendly service.

Has a food menu with plenty of choice as well as carvery. Bar staff friendly and helpful. Large car park . May need to book at busy times

Items missing from dishes but we were not advised until the meal arrived and we had been charged ! My steak was inedible so I asked for it to be replaced which it was, with an equally inedible piece plus by the time it arrived the rest if my meal was cold. Last time I had steak it was the best I had ever had in any restaurant so why it was so awful this time is not acceptable.

Went on a Tuesday, was so looking forward to going after moving back to the area, before the food was amazing! took my mum who was staying with us waited nearly an hour for mains what I wanted they didn't have picked something else (kebab) didn't have the pitta bread used a naan that's fine but you get a cup of meat all our meals were barely luke warm almost like they forgot to give them to us?? the chicken was tough, it's the 1st time I enjoyed the foliage on the plate more than anything else. My partner told me the bar boy used the wrong measurement in the drinks as he was a bar manager before... Anyway thought you can't get pudding wrong waited near enough another hour and the place was empty, order sticky toffee pudding and custard, again Luke warm but the syrup was stone cold!? Ordered 2 Irish coffees my partner had to explain how to make them they arrived in two coffee cups not tall glasses, no cream but milk some alcohol and chocolate powder on top??? So a flat white with alcohol and chocolate ....then who I assume was the manager had apologised several times by this point for the poor service... Honestly big disappointment lovely setting but not what it was would rather stay home than visit again, really can't express enough just don't even bother!

Cuando caminé hacia la puerta principal me pregunté si el lugar estaba realmente abierto, ya que estaba tan vacío, deteriorado y muerto. ¡Lamento no haberme dado la vuelta! El servicio era lento. Llegué 30 minutos antes del cierre de la cocina y me dijeron que tenía que pedir rápidamente y luego tuve que esperar 25 minutos para que alguien tomara mi pedido, luego otros 10 minutos para que viniera una bebida. La comida era basura y no vale la pena el precio.

Great location ,we had pre booked ,however we were advised it was extremely busy and going to be a 45 minute wait for our meals from point of order.. David was excellent throughout our wait and very attentive giving regular updates and taking drinks orders before we finally received our food,which was nice and hot.

We always love to come to this pub. Excellent food and a great atmosphere. The staff are always attentive. A big plus for us, is it’s dog friendly. Thanks guys for all you do.

We ate here two nights whilst at the adjacent hotel. The first night I ordered steak and my meal arrived barely warm. My wife had coated chicken that was so hard she could not eat about 20% of it. The chef needs to be retrained. The second night the food was much better.

Decided to have roast with family today when food eventually arrived vegetables were missing we sat there waiting approximately 10 minutes had to ask in the end by this time food stone cold , nothing to serve veg with had to use fork for swede and cabbage, really guys come on a bit more organisation with staff is needed, real shame as food was fine but ruined due to being cold. Staff did apologise and knocked some off bill to be fair but unfortunately will not be returning anytime soon.

Nice view and well-recommended so hope our negatives were just a one off. Main courses very nice would recommend crab/prawn linguine, cheddar pie. Crumble pot was half full. Ginger Ice cream great. Not sure what happened but one waitress was really abrupt made us uncomfortable. Stained chairs need cleaning more regularly. They accommodated us moving table and handled confusions with drinks order really well at the bar. Bank holiday hours not advertised on website but last orders were 7.45 and we were hurried to make order particularly with desserts. If bank hol hours change just let guests know on website or call ones who’ve made a reservation. The Horse & Groom, Merrow is same chain and I felt was more welcoming.

I went for a meal with a friend on Sunday, 25th May 2025. I have a wheat allergy so have to have gluten-free food. There were several errors with my food from our waiter who was apparently new. However, the assistant Manager, Jack was fantastic when I brought them to his attention. He was hugely apologetic and even deducted the cost of the puddings, so we were very impressed with his customer service. The 5 stars for 'Service' are for how he dealt with it, so thank you, I will return!
