The John Logie Baird in Hastings

Sure, Wetherspoon pubs have always been cheap n' cheerful, but at least they used to have a reputation for cleanliness and professionalism. The John Logie Baird at about 8pm last night (approximately only half-full) looked like an absolute dive, with loads of uncleared tables cluttered with empty glasses and plates, and the toilets in a similarly dishevelled, dirty state. Grim.

Not a bad pub....decent choice of real ale on tap..the bar staff are excellent.only problem is a few of the bar staff have a attitude problem...

we all know the drill and what to expect with WS, that’s why they’re always busy, we don’t expect culinary delights because the price can’t deliver that, it’s mass churned out fuel…but the service here is friendly, and v polite! my order was wrong and the senior guy i spoke to sorted it in an instant, in fact id say up market establishments could learn from them, that’s what you remember, friendly service with a smile, and passable food is enough.

Well you know what your getting from a weatherspoons so it's the safest option when you're away from home. Breakfast was good

Very dark and dingy. Tables really jammed in but it is a Weatherspoons where you cannot argue with their prices. Food is of a good standard that you find in every spoons

This is a really friendly pub. The staff always have a smile and are very helpful. The food is great value for money as a vegan can always find something to eat. The guest beers are exceptionally value and a pleasure to try. We eat here at least once a week.

We go regularly every Friday. The food is always very good, service prompt and the staff are extremely friendly. Would recommend.

Brexit worked then? I don't how corporately you can decide to create a meal as bad as this. Practically hollow soggy onion rings, steak impossible to cut, ultra defrosted and bashed out and full of water, hard peas, hard tomatoe, didn't risk the mushroom, defrosted jacket potatoe. I walked out clearly no one would care if I complained. Awful. Couldn't even stir a blackcurrant and soda.

Prompt friendly service, plenty of characters!

Usually go here Friday mornings for breakfast,I was under the impression that you could not book a table,but twice in the last 2 months,there have been reserved tables on tables,or like this week at least 25 people occupying most of the tables In the raised area,all pushed together,no chance of getting served,stood at bar for 10 mins ,another person before me left ,no staff behind bar all concerned with getting large food order ready,for large party,never mind the regulars,I went somewhere else too,also get the coffee machines fixed, been broken for last 3 Fridays,only one working causing long queues, place is going down hill.

Get your drink or food, sit down, and keep quiet. Do not take umbridge with any staff member, or you will be accused of being abusive. And the manager will always backup there staff.

Went for breakfast only had standard small breakfast. When it arrived was cold only thing that was warm was egg. Was shame as always enjoyed meals there 😞

Great value as always. Decor a little tired, but a very convenient and comfortable pub for good value grub and great drinks prices. The free hot drink refills a big bonus.

Great place great staff and great service

Their cask beer is far too cold, which ruins the flavour. They do some really good cask beers but need to look after them properly. not lager temperature please. This was one of many visits there over the past year and the problem persists. If it is the same next time, that will be my last.

Went in with my family of six. The pub itself was fine, standard Wetherspoons. Served by Izzy who was extremely efficient and multi-tasking taking my order whilst being questioned by staff and radio’ing to the kitchen; all without breaking a sweat. Food was served hot and in a good timely manner. Would go again 👍

"Wot u avin?" Before anything else, a bit of civility! I don't want your attitude problem. Just do your job. I treat people with respect. I demand the same back. Learn some manners.

So the service and the food here was good however first impressions is that this pub is a bit run down and in need of either a refit or a deep clean to try and freshen it up

Had the freedom breakfast here on Saturday morning and it was poor. Bacon & beans were cold & the fried egg yolks were hard. Staff were really lovely and polite when they served us. They didn't ask how our food was though. Maybe they already knew. Pub is in a good location 5 minutes from Hastings seafront. It has loads of seating and an interesting history. Nowhere near as good as the Bexhill Wetherspoons. Should have eaten there.

Wetherspoons are cheap pubs and attract the sort of people that are on a budget but want to stay out all day..bar staff dont care whether they serve you or not. Been in one you've been in them all!!!?

Very cheap beer and by the looks of it nice food. Staff served with a smile and fast . Normal for a spoons pub. The place was half full. The only let down was the Plies of empty glasses and plates left on tables and on the floor

Ordered halloumi wraps wasn’t asked if I wanted a side with it. It arrived to be halloumi fries shoved in a wrap with a sauce which wasn’t even sweet chilli. Told the staff member who was cleaning the table next to us to be told oh we haven’t done the grilled halloumi for ages so I said well maybe I should have been told as I would have ordered just halloumi fries. No care in the world about complaints and assuming this person was in a managerial role as he was wearing different uniform

The food was crap. Food can cold and burnt.

I went there over the weekend for breakfast and managers special, all was very tasty. It is very busy place with good atmosphere and quick service.

Went with family, 4 adult meals and 4 children's meals along with drinks, (1 alcoholic), all excellent and only £62.91 total, outstanding value.

Standard English breakfast served so fast! Pub atmosphere including the good old sticky tables. Free refills for coffee.

Went for breakfast twice during our stay in Hastings. Always quiet and could find a seat. Easy to order using the app and drinks came quickly followed by the food. Hot and delicious and drinks were easy to get for the refills. Friendly and prompt service.

The food is good value, but kacking in vegetables.

Some Spoons are in elegant old buildings tastefully done and in keeping with the locality, some are basic and does what it says on the tin, the Logie Baird is the latter and although good value for money, excellent service lacks the tender love and care of others in their chain. But you get what you get and if nothing else, it is near to the train station to pop in for one before heading from Hastings. The pub opposite is worth checking out btw as the mosaic at the entrance is a splendid example of Victorian elegance. Back to Spoons...it does the job.

Nice pub with a charming cheeky blonde girl processing us at entry. Strict covid procedures. Had a lovely seat on an open balcony and great value food and drink. Unfortunately on this occasion the app didn’t work apart from that everything was fine. Returned post covid recently and the app was working that enables ordering from your table The facility is modern and clean and represents extremely good value for money. Can never work out why the majority of Wetherspoons have toilets upstairs and many don’t have lifts. Visited again on the 18th off August 2024 standards are excellent table clearing and cleaning was prompt staff exceptionally friendly and professional especially Alex who always had a smile and a greeting she is a credit to the organisation. There is a disabled toilet downstairs now with radar key access

All good great beer excellent prices good food. Puts other pubs charging 2 to 3 times more for same or inferior beer to shame. Long live spoons.

It's ok. It's a Spoons. Exactly what you expect at a spoons. Cheap food... But the quality reflects this. Perfect for cheap drinks

Couldn't help being a little disappointed after leaving this spoons. I usually find spoons staff very approachable and friendly but here they seemed to be merely trying to get through the day. Maybe i was missing something. Anyway, very much your run of the mill spoons with a raised area opposite the bar. And even after everything I've said, the Guinness was still excellent

A typical spoons. Food was quickly served and good. Staff friendly didn't try the beer as a bit too early. Mind you. The place was full of ☠ pirates

Typical 'Spoons. Good range of food and drink at reasonable prices. Service was okay even when busy. Very much a place for visitors so don't expect much in the way of ambience. All in all a good value venue for refuelling.

Pretty much what u expect from a Weatherspoon’s (especially in sea side town 😅) Vindaloo was decent 🍛 🍻 💪🏻

A great restaurant right in the city center, with plenty of choice for everyone. Very good and inexpensive! We ate there twice during our weekend! The ciders are delicious!

Visited several times while on a short break. Even when busy service was good and the staff pleasant. Typical 'Spoons - good selection of reasonably priced food and drinks.

Food was served very quickly and was of excellent quality. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. At these, typical Wetherspoons, bargain prices, there is everything to recommend this pub.

The prices here are 40/50% less than the Yates over the road they also have at table ordering which is convenient the app also has waiting times for food or drink so that's helpful food is as you would expect here , the atmosphere can be loud and rowdy if that's not your thing I would go elsewhere if you can handle it the place is fine for a few drinks and a cheap meal

Really busy lunchtime, and needs a bit of an update. Curry is always really good and choice of ales great at a good price

Went in for Work Team breakfast. Fantastic choice, large quantity and very good value for money. No problem in moving furniture to accommodate larger groups with staff giving options. Easy going atmosphere and no fuss payment by using the app and ordering as we went at the table so no standing or waiting at the bar.

Ordered on the app and the drinks were delivered quickly.

Very boisterous atmosphere. waiter took my pint away but realised it was like half full so brought it back, wacking out a 5 on service for that one because it gave us a good laugh. I wasn't a fan of the chips and the onion rings were a little overdone for me, but I enjoyed the burger. My wife wasn't massively happy with the her meal though as she found the burger and rest of the plate very dry compared to other spoons. While the atmosphere and food was a touch disappointing, the staff were honestly fantastic and a good laugh.

Not the best Spoons ever, but on a cold, wet and windy day in May, it was warm and dry, so much so we stayed for a couple of hours while waiting for our bus back to Northiam

Friendly place, good service. Prices were impressive compared to other spoons. £7.50 for fish and chips and large drink as it was before 1700 on weekday, good value for money, just as good as £15 meal elsewhere

Very un-Wetherspoon-like service here - quick and friendly. Decent punters, too. Cheap and delicious beer as is usually the case with these places.

During my visit 20/05/2024 I was in the ladies toilets and I saw a short young barmaid with dark hair comforting a rather distressed older woman. She was clearly busy and still took time out of her day to listen to her and offer her a shoulder to cry on. Service was an incredible 5/5, with friendly bar staff and waiters. The interaction I overheard definitely made the service stand out more. Atmosphere was not too great as the pub is rather run down and bleak. Food came out cold but was presented really well.

Every day of our stay we had breakfast and dinner at unbeatable prices.

Bit drab, although quite busy we sat outside in the entrance hallway, this area could do with a repaint.

The staff is disgusting and rude. If there was a 0 rating here, I would give it without hesitation. The staff, especially the manager, are rude. Doesn't want to listen to the client's opinion. I came with my dish, which I couldn’t even eat because the meat was like rubber, , to which he replied that this was exactly what I ordered. The meat was rubbery, even with it I tried to cut it near the manager and couldn’t. To which he replied that he did not see a problem in this and would not return my money. There is a sense of personal hostility. I didn't even ask for a refund, I just wanted to tell him that. As a result, I got a ruined evening and a disgusting attitude from the manager. 0 stars for this establishment, don’t even lose your time there.

Sorry, I thought ours was bad! It wasn't any major problem as it's rough 1/10 with smooth 9/10 for "my" lovely chain, however I can't say I needed more than 2 pints (superbly served as ever) before I decided this ones not for me! STILL, EXCELLENT bar staff & you don't need me to tell you, excellent prices. Bexhill was top notch btw. I'm no snob!
