Greeted well. Drinks and food order taken promptly. Food was very good. Surprised at how few people were there and so there was no atmosphere. Meal was enjoyable nevertheless.

My sister and I went for dinner and walked into a warm cosy pub with a very welcoming atmosphere. We were greeted by Alex who was very friendly and helpful. We ordered the chicken and leek pie and ham egg and chips. Both meals were delicious and they obviously use quality produce. We will definitely be returning to the pub. Plenty of spaces to park too. Thank you for making us feel welcome 💕

We had a menu mishap which can easily happen to anyone . The Manager showed no customer care or support. I will not be visiting with my family to eat there again

Lovely traditional pub with log fire on the night we were there. Excellent service and the most delicious bangers , mash in red wine gravy and vegetables ....4**** thank you

We came down for their Oktoberfest on Friday night and so pleased we did. Great food, great company and great service. The singer was brilliant and the waitresses were really attentive. The outside space looks amazing and is so nice to sit outside undercover with heaters. There are even hot water bottles and blankets if you get chilly. Can not wait to come back and try a Sunday roast. Thanks to Maddie and Molly for looking after us all night.

‘‘Twas a blisteringly hot Sunday afternoon when we rolled into this establishment. Men at the bar were talking about whether to get a pig or not. Not the kind of conversation I’m used to. Looking back it was an error not to sit outside as the gardens were full of character and places to eat. Interior dining it was to be. Staff were very welcoming and helpful with the exception of when I asked a waiter if I could order more drinks. He responded like a rabbit in the headlights ‘I can’t help you, I’m new!’ Meals were all excellent and I was really impressed. I went for a cod loin burger and it was a fine choice. It’s not the kind of thing that I would normally select but I’m glad that I did. It was a fine bit of cod and the batter was great. The setting is great and I’d really recommend the Jug to all.

Really good food and service was good until we ordered dessert & coffee…waited ages had to go and find someone to chase the order…still didn’t arrive so cancelled dessert paid the bill and left..such a shame as it’s a good pub with lovely food…will give it another go though x

Where do I start… We drove just under an hour to get to this pub after being recommended by a friend who visited last year. All I can say is what a waste of a journey & massive disappointment this venue was! We booked a table for 2pm on a sunny Sunday. Upon arrival, we were left standing at the front with our children for around 5 minutes with the bar staff just continuing to serve customers and looking up at us here and there. Not a smile, not a hello, nothing along the lines of, someone will be with you shortly to show you your table… nothing! Once we were seated, the guy politely explained that they were incredibly busy so they’ve had to close the kitchen for half an hour to deal with the orders that they had already taken and that we could place our order once they reopened the kitchen. We didn’t see a problem with that as we thought the time would soon pass once we ordered drinks, sorted the children and let them have a little play in the children’s area. 40 minutes later, they were still not taking any food orders and then finally at 14:50, they allowed for us to place our order. We ordered 2 x roast dinners with one of them being the ‘big mix roast’ and the other roast chicken. I ordered my daughter sausage and chips and knowing that she’s a fussy eater and probably wouldn’t eat many chips, I ordered an extra sausage for her. Before I paid I double checked the extra sausage was on the computer and the guy behind the till confirmed it was. We waited an another 1 HOUR and 5 minutes for our food to finally arrive at our table at 16:05 (over 2 hours since we arrived). Every single plate of food was cold but by this point we were all starving and exasperated with the level of service from this pub that we decided not to send the food back. I did however call the waitress back over as we were missing my daughter’s extra sausage to which she replied she would ‘go and check with the chef’. I saw the waitress going backwards and forwards serving food but she didn’t not return to us. 20 minutes later, I approached the waitress to ask what was happening with my daughter’s sausage as she had finished and was waiting for it to which the waitress replied “I’ve told the chef so hopefully he will cook you one”. Hopefully… lol!!! Imagine being told that something you ordered and paid for will hopefully turn up. Shocking!!! Anyway, by 4:30pm the sausage was still in hiding so I approached a lady who looked like management who said she’ll refund me for the non existent extra sausage. Luckily I promised my daughter a McDonald’s on the way home to make up for her cold, sparse meal. Moving on to our roast… cold but tasty minus the little tray of cold vegetables TO SHARE!!! Considering my partner ordered the big mix roast, you’d think he’d get a reasonable portion of vegetables to match. I had to go and check the bowl of vegetables were to share to which we were told that is was a sharing sized portion so we both enjoyed a SPOONFUL of mashed swede, greens, cauliflower and red cabbage each. We decided to skip desert after our dinner plates were left stacked on the edge of our table where we put them to be collected for a good 20 minutes after we finished eating. The wasps had a great time eating the food that was left on our plates. The plates were finally taken as we left. Overall, great places for little ones to play, hence the one star but the service is shockingly dreadful and the food was a total disappointment after a 2 hour wait. I would not recommend this place to anyone. It takes a lot for me to write a negative review but my experience yesterday was simply exhausting especially after spending over £110 for such a bad experience!!! The staff running this pub clearly have no idea what they are doing. It’s safe to say, I’d never return.

I love this place, all the workers are incredible polite and respectful. A beautiful girl called maddie served me, even though it was a drink and a bag of crips I didn't feel any less important than anyone else. All in all would totally recommend to anyone wanting a to relax and get a drink in a pub.

Service was brilliant warm and friendly, The roast was beautifully cooked , really great place to spend the late afternoon. An absolutely must .

Went on a Sunday in February - 4 adults and 2 children, service was really slow despite hardly any customers most of the time. Our table was at 4.15pm so maybe late for a Sunday but the roast potatoes tasted like they'd been cooked hours ago and were just sitting there. The veg wasn't much better. We had to ask for basic stuff - a spoon with a cup of tea, cutlery with desserts, plates for a cake. It was a birthday celebration and they also brought over the birthday cake when 3 of the 6 people were away from the table. We had to ask to order food. I could understand if staff were busy and dealing with other people but they were talking among themselves every time we had to ask for something, and we waited a while before asking too. Would not recommend and would not want to return.

We came across this fabulous pub when we got lost and I’m do glad we did . A warm welcome , beautiful decor with roaring log fires and delicious food .

Went for lunch on Sunday 4th February 2024. This place was recommended to me by my daughter. All I can say is WOW. The food, service and atmosphere was outstanding. The pub was warm with a lovely open fire. The Staff are very attentive and approachable. It was lovely to see and hear the very young staff members(Servers) being supported, encouraged and praised by management even if they did something that was not quite right. We will most certainly be visiting again very soon. Give them a try, you will not be disappointed.

Overall the food was purely average and whilst okay, nothing to write home about. The restaurant area was exceptionally quiet - especially for a Friday lunchtime - and the place lacked any atmosphere. Not a particularly enjoyable visit and having visited before, the overall standard has slipped. Nothing to encourage a return visit.

This has always been our go to for Sunday roast, admittedly we have not been for a good few months but something has changed. The service was painfully slow. Upon arrival our table of 4 was occupied by a member of staff whom was eating his dinner, thankfully he finished within a few minutes but the table was laid without being cleaned first. We then ordered drinks,but after 20 minutes we had to chase their whereabouts. Three pork roasts were measly, the beef tasted good according to my husband but the accompanying veg was sparse. Not enough cauliflower cheese for one let alone 4 ( we are all not very large), and the same with the greens. I asked for more veg but was given only swede mash and red cabbage which was the only portion of reasonable size. The gravy was bland and not enough to bother eating the Yorkshire pudding with that is saved for the end. I left it. I’m so disappointed that I will go to the wonderful Poet in Matfield where a good roast is still guaranteed.

Lovely country pub with amazing pie! Both my partner and I had the steak pie which was packed full of Beef, so tasty, great pastry and worth travelling for! The staff were excellent and the place had a lovely warm inviting atmosphere!

We booked a table outside and we’re seated however 20 mins later no one had come to take a drinks order so we grabbed a waitress passing by and asked if we could order both food and drink. The drinks then took a further 20 mins to arrive and we had to chase twice, and when the food came we had to ask twice for cutlery too. The waiter who brought our food accidentally dropped one of the vegetable sides which we had to ask twice to be replaced and then again, chase for dessert cutlery and for a missing tea that was ordered. The food itself was nice but the service is absolutely terrible. We felt like an absolute nuisance as we literally had to chase again and again. Toward the end one of our group mentioned that the service was bad and was told that was because they don’t do table service outside! The lady that we spoke to suggested that we were the problem as we were meant to order from the bar, to which we responded that we were not told that when seated, or when we called a waitress over to order our first drinks. We were told that the staff ‘had felt uncomfortable telling us that it wasn’t table service’ (which only further supports my comments about bad service- how is that our fault?). We had 3 or 4 different staff members serving us during our visit and not one of them told us that we had to order at the bar or get our own cutlery. We went in to pay and found that 10% service charge had been added to the bill AND we had been charged for the replacement vegetables that came after the waiter dropped ours on the floor. Really disappointing visit, poor service and rude staff. Won’t be returning.

Celebrated my husband's 60th birthday with close friends. Hired a Tiki hut which was warm, comfortable and lots of fun 😁.Super food, cheerful and friendly staff, small issues dealt with quickly and efficiently. Would definitely go back and recommend. One of the best pubs within the Tonbridge/Sevenoaks district. The birthday boy was super happy 👍

The vegetarian options were not great. I asked to have extra potato’s and veg as I don’t like nut roast. I was s brought out 3 potato’s and some veg on serving dishes not even a plate. This cost me £16.95 and they wanted extra for another few potato’s. My meal was literally 3 hard potato’s and a small amount of veg, which I had to ask for a plate to eat it on. We generally had a very bad experience and will not be returning again. It overall cost over £200 and the food wasn’t even worth £50.

Having reading some really good reviews on-line, I thought we would give this place a go … Lovely old Pub. Had a very enjoyable lunch and a couple of drinks each … The Dessert however, I think is extremely overpriced for the size of it! £8.50 and in all honesty, it was more like a child’s size. I can’t understand how some places get away with charging that amount!!! I certainly wouldn’t order it again … But it’s a nice place to go for lunch/dinner and the garden area is lovely too x

It was very good because the had a Octoberfest festival there and all the staff were dressed up .Plus I had a lovely Lunch 🍽️

I have been going to the Little Brown Jug for many years and have always enjoyed their gluten free fish and chips. However on the last two occasions I was told they didn’t have any gluten free flour so I could have the fish cooked without batter or the only other alternatives were ham, egg and chips or salad. I did opt for the fish without batter on the first occasion but the fish was really dry and the chips were raw as were the chips of another member of our party. When I went the other evening again I was told there was no gluten free flour as it is difficult to get, which is rubbish, so my options were again ham, egg and chips or salad. This is just not good enough. They have many vegan and vegetarian dishes on their menu. Vegans and vegetarians choose this diet. I have no option as I have celiac’s disease and if I eat gluten I will be ill. If they no longer do gluten free fish and chips then they should say so and I just wouldn’t go again. Don’t just say you don’t have any gluten free flour as I have been returning hoping that was a one off! We had to leave last Saturday and go elsewhere so I could eat something befitting a Saturday evening and not a mid-week meal. In the end we went to the White Hart in Sevenoaks who do have gluten free flour and the fish and chips is amazing.

Fantastic Lunch today, great food cooked well accompanied by outstanding service, the atmosphere was heightened by the preparations for the Oktober Fest . Thank for a great Lunch And we will be back for Oktober Fest .

We visited this pub last Sunday with a view to sitting in the garden to listen to the Sax player as advertised from 2pm. We arrived around 2.30pm and asked soemone in the garden if the sax player was going to play, the young boy knew nothing about it at all!!! Children were running around screaming, people were smoking and vaping!!!! Very uninviting when hoping to listen to Jazz music ....Meanwhile my husband was inside waiting to be served. he stood at the bar with around 5 seperate customers , for at least at least 20 mins, ! There were 2 lads washing glasses and only one girl serving, who seemed only to be interested in the tickets for drinks in the restaurant. In the end we left without buying a drink. the pub was very dirty and untidy, the ladies toilets were disgusting and it was obvious that no one was monitoring them to keep it clean. How the pub has gone down hill... we will not be going back...

A large pub with big indoor and outdoor dining area. Garden available. Blankets supplied in outdoor area. Good menu choice. Good portions and tasty food. Friendly service. It is advertised as a Greene King pub but does not accept the blue light card discounts meant to apply to Greene King.

We had booked a family meal for the evening before our daughter’s wedding. All the food was pre ordered but the service was shambolic. Very slow and 20 minutes between some meals arriving and the last. Food was generally disappointing, particularly the £16:50 gourmet burger which was not even a match for a MacDonalds burger.

A lovely county pub however, the service was pretty terrible and the staff were inexperienced and rude. So disappointing.

It was my daughter’s birthday & I asked the restaurant if they could decorate her dessert plate with Happy & a candle (you supply candle), which they did beautifully adding pieces of chocolate brownie, nuts & fruit & certainly made the birthday lunch they bit special. The meal itself was excellent & the choice to sit inside or out was great. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful and attentive. This is not the first time I have eaten here, Sunday lunches are excellent!

I honestly don’t know where to start! I never leave reviews but after today’s lunch I feel I have to warn others about the horrendous experience we had here. We ordered food and after 45 minutes no sign of it, I chased it up to see what had happened to it…cue cold food turning up (cold pies, chips, mash- the lot!). The pies came without the veg so had to chase that. We then realised the pies were stone cold alongside the mash so took them back. My order of the cheese ciabatta with caramelised onion came out as two thin slices of white burnt toast with raw onion. When we queried why it wasn’t ciabatta the staff member said there must have been a communication issue with the kitchen staff! I had to go to the bar area to complain on 3 occasions and am now £90 lighter on a meal that I wouldn’t have even paid £30 for. I have been to this pub several times over the years and have never experienced the unbelievably poor service that I did today; no wonder if was absolutely dead. People clearly got the memo before I did! Save yourself the trip and the hassle!!

We booked a hut for friday night dinner. It was both a retirement and a leaving party for 2 team members. It was good we were outside as our laughing would have made everyone tell us to quiet down. The assistant manager Daniel was really good and welcoming and helped with everything checking on us to see if all was good and if he or his team was needed in anyway. Food and drink was very good. The portions were good sized. All was very clean and tidy. We would recommend going there again. Thanks team

We come here a fair bit and normally it’s pretty good. However our most recent visit was a bit of a let down. One of our starters didn’t arrive at all and despite informing a member of the service staff nothing was done about it....

The pub was nice and cosy and waitresses very good. However, most of the the food was terrible. We had pork Sunday roast which was undercooked, so we sent it back. The second time it was… again semi raw. The mussels were blunt and barely...

The setting is beautiful, however it was extremely busy, which may have affected the quality of the food. We were a table of 4, eating different things from the restaurant menu. We were all disappointed with what we had.

Very slow service. Party of 4, two of us had starters. One starter arrived 15 mins after ordering, the other 15 mins after that. Main courses arrived 35 mins after last starter was finished… an hour and 10 minutes after ordering. We were seated near kitchen door so very noisy … orders being called, staff calling to each other, doors banging, plates being dropped … you get the picture. Food was adequate, nothing more. Won’t be hurrying back.

Very pleasant atmosphere starter perfect but the Main was terrible. Potatoes where very chewy as if they had been sitting under a heat lamp. My meat was way too rare a choice as to how I would of liked it would of been better. In all we had 2 mains which on each plate was meat potatoes Yorkshire and greens still left which In my opinion sums up the main courses. But on a positive note both starters 7-10 Both mains 4-10 1 pudding. 10-10 We would return as we noticed you was serving a variety of different meals. Would we recommend. Not for the roast but maybe the other choices.

Great location and nice ambiance, and pleasant staff, but very average food, which is a shame as my last visit several years ago had good food, with a much better choice. I had the fish cakes which were bland and this was a special. Shame but it obviously caters for the masses.

Lovely pub, the LBJ, the food is always excellent, good selection of wines and beer always well kept and poured. Unfortunately, over an hour’s wait for the order. Short staffed, apparently. Lot of it about these days but poorly trailed however pleasant the waiting staff. Otherwise, again, the food shames most pub roasts.

LBJ is such a lovely place to dine. The food is always fantastic with some great lumiyed menu items. The lasagna is second to none, although disappointed it doesn’t come with the delicious garlic bread anymore. My partner and son shared the paella which they are still talking about the next day. Can’t wait to return.

Food was excellent but service was incredibly slow. When I asked the manager about how long it would take, he seemed to argue with me and tell me it had not been very long since he collected the starters. I’d disagree! We sat down at 5.25, and got our main meals at 7.15?! Shame, we’ve been twice now and it was better the first time.

Staff were outstanding. Attentive and obliging. Food was fine. Simple, good food it says on the board outside. We both had the burgers and skinny fries. That’s what we ordered and that’s what we got. The burger was tasty. A bit of a salad on the plate would have added to the presentation! The fries were just that. Simple food . All fine.

Three of us ate here at lunchtime, the food was excellent. Service was excellent. I’m not always an easy person to please but had no complaints about this establishment. We will return!

This was our 2nd visit and we brought another couple with us this time. Again we weren’t disappointed. Great well cooked and tasty food with friendly and attentive service. Definitely will be visiting again and we’ll recommend to more friends and family.

Very nice as always, a little loud and noisy in the restaurant area, would be nice to hear some music playing in the background. Food was delicious, slightly smaller portions than we’d had in the past but still delicious and filling. Excellent and very friendly staff. One of my favourite pubs in Kent.

Met friends here for lunch. Very friendly bar man - sorry didn't get your name. Great service with a lovely friendly and chatty young girl. Food was very good - especially the sticky toffee pudding!! We would definitely return.

Good starters- mains portions sizes ( chicken burger) were smaller than I’d expect for the price. Overall quality didn’t match bill price unfortunately. Service was OK, could have been better eg: we had to ask to order more drinks rather than be offered as we all had empty glasses and asked for sauces 2 or 3 times before they came.

It is clear that the little brown jug just like it’s sisters that we know chaser inn and the cricketers is a well organised and well run establishment. They are each a bit different but the quality and ambience is dependable and enjoyable.

Took over an hour for main courses to arrive which were then way below the normal standard we’ve had. Food not hot, veg arrived 10 mins after main courses, fish cakes solid & stodgy. Won’t be rushing back

Really good choice for a last minute Easter meal out with family. Great outside space for kids but still quiet and really nice food.

Only two choices for vegan main and only sorbet or ice cream for dessert. Waited over an hour for our main to arrive. Weren’t offered any condiments or asked if we wanted any more drinks. Staff were busy but not attentive.

We had breakfast at 9.30 so the pub was nice and quiet. We were in fact the only table ordering breakfast for about half an hour or so. The service was good & nice staff. It's personal preference but two of us found the flat white coffee we ordered too weak and each ordered an espresso shot to add to it. The breakfast food ordered arrived in good time and was OK. Sadly the pancakes were over cooked a bit on each of the undersides, the halloumi cheese was missing from the veggie breakfast (but did arrive separately once mentioned) and all of the poached eggs weren't runny. I mentioned these things when paying as felt the kitchen should know. Not big issues and I didn't feel money should be taken off the bill as all was still edible but didn't quite meet our expectations as we have had excellent food here before.

We booked for the bottomless brunch which we understand was a new concept. The food was excellent and served in good time. We did feel there was an unnecessary delay in serving the first drink (10 minutes) and the pub was very quiet. We could not help but feel this was a tactic to cut into the 1.5 hours we had for the table and more importantly the bottomless aspect. When we commented on the drinks service it improved somewhat and we felt we got value for money. Our server was friendly.

The atmosphere was great. We sat in a sofa opposite a burning log fire. It took quite a while for the food to be served but when it arrived it was very nice.

I've only ever been here on a Sunday, and absolutely loved the whole experience. Today was completely different. The food was indifferent although the service was good. Everyone deserves an off day, and by and large this pub is lovely.

Lovely long Sunday lunch. Generous portions, I had the vegetarian roast, which I usually have if I have lunch on a Sunday here. Food is always hot, nice variety of vegetables. As always, the service was efficient and friendly. Love Sunday lunches here. The garden dining area is looking fine for the summer too.

We had a fantastic evening, staff were amazing friendly and cheerful, proper home from home definitely will come again.

We booked to be seated away from the bar when we ate. This area was not heated and was a cold wet day so we were offered the bar however it had poor music blaring away ( the kind of music you here on KMFM ) and it was really over powering. We were seated close to the bar which we were told was close to the fire however no heat from the fire reached us. That was the worst thing about our experience. The food , drink & service was excellent.

Yet again another lovely Sunday lunch at one of my favourite places. Always lively and busy, it seemed as though my friend and I were the only ones without a child at the table! Everyone enjoying an English Sunday lunch at the pub, roaring fire, good food, reasonable prices. Thank you again!

The table we were given was on the runway to the kitchen even though it wasn’t busy in the restaurant area so a little annoying with people walking past constantly. The smell of detail from the kitchen when it was being cleaned was a little off putting too. The menu was also different to the one that was issued with my booking - I did mention this. Saying all this we would return though. The food was good.

Came here out of curiosity with a few friends, didn’t expect much but was really blown away. Lovely pub with great food, and the manager Louise, was a great help and very informative. Cheers for a great evening x

Best pub for a Sunday roast, it was pie week when we went and the pie was unbelivable. Staff were so friendly and efficient. We will most definitely be back. Loved it

Disappointing latest visit. Previously the food has been very good, the service friendly and efficient with more vegan options. This time the choice was very limited, portions underwhelming, food just warm, service just okay. Not good value either.

Couldn’t fault the food and drink, will be returning

Regardless of how good or bad the pub was, I have no desire to have people with a large dog seated immediately next to us without any consultation. Just to underline the point, my wife is allergic to certain animals including dogs. Simply not good enough We moved table and the only reason we did not walk out was because we were meeting friends who had travelled a great distance

The food, ambiance and service were all very good.
