The White Hart is our local pub and over the years it has become our 'go-to' place for informal meals with friends. We love the friendly welcome, the good service and the sensibly priced and very tasty food. There are many nooks and crannies for intimate meals if you like. Tuesday evening was no exception,; the pub was busy but not full. (It is always worth booking - especially for sunday lunch) and as ever we enjoyed a hummus starter (£5.95) and main courses of Pork and Leek sausages (my favourite! £17.45), Lamb Rosemary pie (£17.95) , Milanese (£18.95) and Vegetable Thai curry (a bit hot! £15.95). We had a lovely bottle of Fiorbella Rosso wine (£29.95) and coffees (about £4 each, although my cappuccino was £4.25 - a bit expensive I think). We would return again of course.

If you are a dog, you would be looked after. If you try to book for your mum a seat for Mother's Day, you'll be told it's full only to see 3 dogs sitting actually on seats at the table in the restaurant on one table. The manager seemed to think this is acceptable.

A rare example of somewhere maintaining standards at Christmas. Good food, good service, and for most tables a good ambience. All at an acceptable price. Have been back on a weekday lunchtime since and it was great.

We had a table booked for a family 12:30 lunch today (10th February). When we arrived, we were treated to a warm smile and friendly greeting by a female member of staff and shown quickly to our table. Within a couple of minutes of being seated, a friendly waiter appeared, who efficiently, and without fuss, took our orders for drinks. Our main meals arrived (thankfully altogether) within a reasonable short space of time. The gourmet verdict about our meals from our entire family group was extremely positive. Tasty, delicious, substantial and hot, were the four words we all used to describe our food. My daughter had a dessert, which she was very happy with, and all of us had beverages after our main course. I would certainly return to the White Hart in the near future, and because of our excellent lunch, I have no hesitation in recommending the White Hart as a great dining venue.

Booked a table for 1.30pm. On arrival we were welcomed and taken to our table immediately. Our server took a drink order and then returned in a timely manner to take the food order. We had venison pudding and scallop starters followed by chicken and fish cake mains which were well cooked, nicely seasoned and attractively presented. No undue waiting time between ordering and receiving each course. Portions were sufficient rather than excessive. To follow, there's an offering of small dessert plus a warm drink which makes sense and the small dessert is a sensible conclusion to what have been sufficient starters and mains. Prices are what you'd expect for better than average pub meals and the menu selection is sensibly sized. Although it's part of a chain, the staff all made us feel that we mattered as customers, and that we would be welcome on our return. Car park was full when we arrived so keep this in mind if booking at a busy time. Handy place for a meal if visiting Knowle Park.

Having driven past a million times and never been in we decided on a whim to try Dinner at The White Hart last night. After hearing good things from friends we had high expectations, we were not disappointed. We hadn’t booked and the car park was busy so we’d prepared for maybe not being lucky. As soon as we reached the bar, despite being in the middle of something, Tom greeted us warmly, he searched for the possibility of a table ( they were very busy) and offered us a drink. Within 10 minutes we were sat at a table. Food was probably the best pub food we’ve had, the steak mushroom and ale pie was piping hot, veg cooked to perfection, scallops starter was delicious! So was the venison suet pudding… can’t fault anything. Staff all very attentive and know what they are doing, We will definitely be back.

This is the BEST pub I have been to in 40 years! Went the day after Boxing Day this year, with my elderly parents my sister, her three kids, her husband, his elderly mother and two dogs. From the moment you walk in you are greeted warmly and automatically feel welcomed and I don’t mean this faux American bu//sh*t that we seem to have turned into (nothing against America but we are British). I was having a grumpy day and so was on the verge of being prickly. But the way the staff were so accommodating and made everything seem no trouble at all actually made me chill out. It was weird. I think I am so used to there being some type of confrontation or having to put up with the attitude that they are doing you are favour with everything in this country that this place literally transported me back to how it was back when I was growing up. Even the other customers were really nice. When you walk in a room with two dogs you don’t always expect smiles and conversations! I haven’t even mentioned how good the food is or the size of the portions, how they are good with kids etc.etc. And the girls serving us were not much older than 18. I could literally go on and on. Just go! That’s unless I hadn’t been transported to another time and place that day because I have not had that level of hospitality in a long time. Best pub in Britain for me and I’m from Manchester!!

Recent visit to the white heart for a meal before Christmas with friends. The food was good, parfait starter a little under seasoned but that’s just personal taste. Main course of pork belly was lovely and well cooked and the dessert was very pleasant. Our front of house Hannah however completely stole the show. She could not have done a better job. She learnt all our names immediate and managed all our individual tabs which I know is a real faff. As a professional in the hospitality industry for the last 15 years I was very impressed. She was part of the party and nothing was too much trouble. A personal thank you from myself and friends me for making our evening so wonderful.

Decor, atmosphere and nostalgia as genuinely heartwarming as it was when old Geoff managed it in the early 1980"s and we'd stagger home. We've gone there much in the last few years due to the oldies living nearby and wonderful ease of parking too. Waiting staff always helpful, attentive and jolly. The manager isn't and thats a consensus and we're a pretty loose and large bunch too. The food is extremely average and accordingly very overpriced. Hattusa or the White Rock in Underriver is far better bang for your pound, quality-wise. Consistent in quality too. But the parking and atmosphere for the oldies at the WH is lovely so maybe just dont eat there ?

On the day alcohol duty was frozen until August next year and businesses such as Brunning & Price were given permanent 100 per cent capital allowances, my local hostelry put up the price of a pint of Guinness from an already steep £5.50 to a ridiculous £6. A percentage increase over twice current inflation. RIP the great British pub culture, because with organisations like Brunning & Price involved, it clearly has no future.

This used to be a really nice pub with good quality food. Sadly, although the pub itself is still nice, the meal was a big let down. My husbands prawns and tandoori wrap were very basic, not much better than a café yet twice the price! I ordered the goats cheese and squash salad, which was a few measly pieces of cos Lettuce with the cheese and slices of cold squash. The waiter didn't understand my intolerance to spice, and it had been swamped in the chilli/harissa spice which actually hardly had much flavour at all. I wouldn't choose to visit here again.

We visited as a party of 8 with four 80+ year old grandparents, two adults in their 50’s and two teenagers to celebrate the 16th birthday of our daughter. The restaurant refused to allow the 16 year old to enjoy a small glass of wine with her meal. They stated its against company policy despite it being perfectly acceptable in licensing law. A second manager suggested there are other pubs in Sevenoaks if this one doesn’t suit. Frankly a really poor show, rude response, total lack of empathy and understanding, ruined the evening. We spent £400 and i can assure you that with such average food, rude management and a policy that is not clearly promoted on the website, we will never go back and we will ensure that we make everyone we know aware of our experience. Publicans tell us how tough the industry is for them and these guys are turning business away.
