The Wotton Hatch in Mole Valley

Nearest pub to Wotton Hotel if you fancy eating out. Shabby exterior but really quite nicely decorated inside with a conservatory. Very polite and friendly restaurant manager. Food is unfortunately pretty average for the price. I had salmon which was nice but it came with 3 small new potatoes and 6 green beans! I had to order more veg which bumps up the meal price. My partner had lamb which he complained about as it was so very fatty. Again, very light on the veg. Service was very slow- maybe due to the fact a large party had ordered in front of us. The management did take a glass of wine off the bill for the poor lamb meal but really should have done more. Wouldn’t go back.

I've visited The Wotton Hatch several times, and it's always a great experience. Very friendly and helpful staff, cannot fault them whatsoever. Fantastic food and atmosphere. Also, beautiful sunset views when the weather permits, in the gorgeous garden. Very highly recommend this excellent spot!

A pleasant country pub with a traditional feel. On the main Dorking-Guilford road, which is either handy or a bit noisy. Decent garden, and water for the dog if you've walked there.

Such an incredible place! We came for lunch today and the landlady and team were amazing. The food was absolutely delicious and service was impeccable. We will be back soon - a true gem in the most beautiful surroundings. Thank you all! X

I’m afraid that this is a disappointment in comparison to the pubs and quality around. Fish and chips was made by a very small fillet and too much batter. Communication with the host was awkward as she told us that there aren’t any tables inside despite that most of the pub was empty. Overall a poor experience.

Amazing place. Family of four and our dog have visited this on the way home for some food. Food was delicious. Everything we had was great. Burgers, chicken and especially cod fillet. We will definitely come back.

Lovely outdoor area to sit and have food, plenty of space. Food was nice, just got some truffle chips and peppers.

This was our first visit after always driving past and wondering what it was like. There is a lovely view across the fields from the conservatory. Our waiter Lee was really lovely and very helpful. The food was good portion size and tasted lovely. We had the risotto, chicken & leek pie, followed by toffee Creme brûlée and sticky toffee pudding. The ambiance was great, food was brilliant and staff perfect! We will definitely be returning!

A nice country gastro pub with a wide menu and lots of indoor and outdoor seating. We had the mothers day menu today and everyone enjoyed their food. I think a little more attention to detail on the food presentation and service would make this review 5*. I would still certainly recommend and return!

Lovely staff and nice atmosphere, but it's all let down by the shockingly poor quality food ingredients. It's really appalling, and I find it amazing that restaurants can survive with cutting corners in such a way. The cheese fondue was a bechemel sauce and the burger....I'm speechless, the quality of the meet was worse than you'd find in the cheapest kebab store at 2 am. My friends steak was nothing but gristle and tendon. Really bad food.

Our group of 12 all had good meals from the lunchtime menu offer of two courses for £18, which was good value. Service was good and prompt and the meals came simultaneously. Prior to the meal we paid deposits and preordered, which worked well ( thank you Elton for this and your help when we were there). I did ask another member of staff, on finding some rather loud music playing in our eating area, for the music to be turned off as it makes hearing conversation especially in a group situation very difficult and the staff member told me rather abruptly that normally her answer would be no, but that she would on this occasion. I would actually like all pubs and restaurants to do customer surveys on music / musak and I reckon a large percentage would opt for none! It was, with the good food, and without the music, a very pleasant experience for us to enjoy meeting up with friends.

The pub is in a excellent location, great views. My order was incorrect but they tried to rectify. Had a nice afternoon, staff are very attentive.

Unfortunately I have to say that the food quality has gone down since we visited last time. Food was served warm but not hot, the portions were small considering the price. Taste was OK, but definitely not worth the price Unfortunately. We won't come back as now we know other places serve better food. The service was great though.

Really enjoyed a family evening here on valentine's day. Really lovely food. We had lamb shanks, lamb rump, aubergine lasagne and cheeseburger as well as bread and pardon peppers to start and it was all really really tasty. Add in dessert and a few cocktails ( my espresso martini was lovely) and it was a great night. Not cheap but we did choose some of the most expensive things on the menu - but worth it. Service was really friendly as well - worthy of a mention. Thank you.

Had the 10oz steak (£31) which was tasty, but it didn't come with the caramelised Roscoff onion as per the menu. We also sent back the sticky toffee pudding because it had vanilla ice cream vs the billed ginger ice cream. The atmosphere was nice. Very dark where we sat. Lots of dogs around. They asked for a deposit because people leave without paying. Might try it again one day.

We were very comfortable in this country pub, the food was spectacular, the atmosphere was very good, the service was very professional and also with very good views of Surrey and its natural surroundings. Five stars!!

Please visit this pub. Top tip select the wine and dine menu £100 for a 3 course meal that is fantastic. We stayed locally in the beautiful Wotton house. Would recommend the Wotton hatch if staying in this area

A great find, and a must-do if you’re staying at Wotton House or exploring the Surrey Hills. The manager was great in particular, conversational and funny. The staff were polite and attentive, food came out quickly and overall food was great too. The vibe is good. Cosy, but not sleepy. Modern and quality feel all round. Highly recommended!

From the initial booking experience to the meal itself, the service provided was brilliant. The food was amazing and the atmosphere lovely.

Downsides might be pressure on staff at sudden busy period,muddy boots of walkers ,shrieks of poorly parented children but there was a precision to the ordering process ,quality to the food and a good range of cocktails etc which made for an enjoyable lunch. Have visited on two other occasions over past 20 years ,ought to visit more often

Visited for lunch with my husband and daughter who is usually a picky eater. Even though it was busy, nothing was too much trouble for the staff and food was delicious! Will definitely be returning.

Food was very average, scallops were only warm not hot, the brownie was burnt and we had to send it back sadly, wouldn’t rush back.

Taking the Micky with the prices and not enough local ales on tap - shame because there are great breweries around. Also missing a trick by not serving Denbies wine.

This used to be one of our favourite pubs as a family but has now been taken off the list. Staff weren't friendly and we were treated like we were in a café not a country pub, (even our kids picked up on it). When you're paying £20-£25 for a roast (which was 75% yorkshire pudding and 25% everything else) you would expect better service. They messed up our dessert order which was rectified but there was no apology. We had to ask for our drinks to be brought over as they were sitting at the bar which came at the same time as our main. It wasn't particularly busy and I noticed other customers having to get up and ask the staff for menus, drinks and food. Also if your going to take the time to put Christmas decorations up and people are visiting close to Christmas, would be nice to see them switched on. This is a review of 6 adults that shared the same opinion.

The food was terrible and served by a robot pretending to be friendly to smile at you to be kind etc. but just repeating like a parrot the same thing to every one with no heart and soul. The food tastes like fast food and the question I was asking myself: can it be microwaved?

Big group of us went for Sunday lunch/dinner. The service was brilliant really quick, the food was tasty and surprisingly hot given the size of the group and all came out at the same time. Really impressed!

Absolutely delicious food. All 6 of us loved it. Starters, mains and deserts all lovely. They were helpful with my fussy son too. The only reason I gave 4 was because on our booking due to a one of our party being disabled, we asked if we could have a quiet corner. The table was fine but then a quite noisy group was put right next to us despite a very empty restaurant. I can't comment how the service would be on a busy day, but it was all brilliant today. What a lovely country pub! We had to be in the area and booked lunch the night before and they only had an early slot for lunch left open, but what a treat, the sunday roast is pretty much right up there with the best pub roasts i've had and i have had a few.All the staff were very friendly and the manager made sure everything was ticking along nicely, she was definately in charge and was a credit to the pub.Food was on point and cooked perfectly and the puds were amazing especially the toffee and rum pudding was delicious and light,will definately revisit next time we are in the area.

We had the Sunday roast trio which has chicken, pork belly, and roast beef with all the traditional vegetables. Then we had the sticky toffee pudding and finally some good cocktails. This is a great option within walking distance to the Wotton House hotel.

Very good Sunday lunch. Vegetables with the various roasts were cooked well. Nothing felt tired. Fresh and plentiful. Between the four of us we had lamb, beef, pork and a vegetarian option that satisfied us all respectively. Lots of space between tables so it didn't feel over crowded. An open fireplace near the bar.

I had a bad experience of far too much saffron used in the sea bass, made me and my wife quite ill. Hopefully this was just a one off mishap, but won't be going back soon :-(

The staff were very professional, I only wanted a small portion so I was given the children’s menu and it was delicious, my partner had the pork belly which was also excellent, so well presented , the atmosphere was very good and the restaurant itself very clean and well presented.
