Went on a Friday at 3pm after doing box hill hike. Had the burgers and they were far better than I expected. Fantastic service from the staff, decent value for money so close to a touristy place. Go for the burgers!!

Been here many times as the end goal of a local hike around Box Hill and Denbies. Not been disappointed. Meat pie and fish pie good. A reasonable choice of Ale, but a wider selection of low/No alcohol would be great.

Its a perfectly fine pub, but personally I would not go again for a family Sunday roast. I see it more of a couples quick pop in pub if that makes sense ! No offence to the lovely staff (most of them) , particularly one lady who seemed to be the manager/owner she was knowledgeable and knows great customer service. One waitress was a bit stroppy hence the reduction in stars.

We visited on a Monday evening and there was a great choice of good value meals. We went for the ham, egg and chips - a simple meal but delicious with thick slices of ham, perfectly cooked runny yolk eggs and crispy chunky chips. We also had the Cajun burger and skin on fries which again was well presented and excellent. There is a good choice of different dishes on the menu and service was friendly. Lovely desserts too! A lovely pub where you can sit in the bar area or the restaurant.

Met friends here for lunch. A damp Tuesday and very quiet. We were greeted by a smiling and friendly woman at the bar and chose our table. Our drinks arrived promptly and I chose the lamb ‘Madras style’ curry which turned out to be excellent and medium in strength. Fish pie, beef stroganoff and nut roast also proved to be good choices for our party and all arrived promptly. All in all an enjoyable time and one we’d be very happy to repeat

A very warm and friendly welcome made for a really enjoyable meal. We were offered either inside or outside seating, so with the warm evening sunshine covering the garden, it was an easy option. A very comprehensive menu with specials available made choosing a tough ask. After a little deliberating, we all plumped for burgers, 2 standard, and 2 special of the day. All 4 were really good. The 2 specials came with skin on fries while the standard burgers came with gourmet chips. A good selection of beers and ales to wash down our food, but the highlight was the vast selection of gins. Yes, we tried 4 different doubles, all coupled with a different tonic. Far too full to have a pudding, but, if we had, there were plenty of items to choose from. Overall, it is a really friendly environment, really wholesome food, great service, and a fine selection of drinks to wash it all down with. It's a shame we live such a long way away, but if we return to this area, we will pop and say hi with a view to enjoying a gin and a burger and hopefully the cheese board for pudding.

A very disappointing experience. The food was very average. The service was grumpy at best. We had the taste card app and they refused to accept our 2 4 1 voucher despite having previously used this. The T & C's confirming we should have been able to use it and we've never had a card from Taste that we could have shown. The pub might want to review their approach to customer service.

Lovely staff at the bar with a warm welcome but the food was shocking. Ordered the prawn cocktail & squid to start. Prawn cocktail was mediocre, the squid came with mostly shredded lettuce & I’m not kidding 5 small pieces of squid! The mains - a special of the day burger which came with blue cheese & mushrooms (the only decent bit) the brioche bun was burnt & the burger dryer than the desert, also had a beef stroganoff which lacked any flavour & looked like something exited from an unwell person. I did bring this to the staffs attention, (re taste as somethings taste better than they look though not the case here) who said they could only comp one of the meals but bearing in mind either of them had barely been touched, that was very disappointing. Had better food quality at a Wetherspoons & I don’t say that lightly.

Overall a poor experience with poor customer service. My partner and I ordered food and drinks on our phone. The food came and was well cooked and tasty but no sign of the drinks. I asked the waiter to please check on our drinks as we’d prefer to drink with our meal and he just said that’s how the bar gets and didn’t check up on our drinks for us. We ate our meal and then I went into the bar to ask about our drinks (nearly 45 minutes after we ordered them). We only ordered one diet coke and one J2O so not a long/complicated order by any means. The staff behind the bar were not nice at all. They spoke to the manager and implied that we’d already had our drinks because they’d marked the ticket complete. Ultimately the drinks were remade but I was made to feel like I was stealing extra drinks rather than just getting the drinks we had paid for. It was a shame and did really ruin the experience for us. It is worth noting the pub was not busy at all in which you can understand a delay or mistake like this easily. It was just the overall tone where I was made to feel like I’d done something wrong as opposed to them simply apologising for their mistake and making the drinks. The staff were not helpful and we will not be returning.

I found this absolute masterpiece of a pub by off chance on my way to hike up the hills and straight after . I stopped by with my 6 month daughter to have a pint and was wowed by the cleanliness, out of the world customer service and friendly atmosphere. This pub is a GEM. 5.50 pints with the most loving atmosphere. They was the best hosts and made you really feel like a guest. They delivered my beers to my table, asked ( not intrusively if I needed anything and was so loving and helpful with my daughter. They understood she might need baby changing ext and was very quick to accommodate and even recommended. I ordered the steak and ale pie which was absolutely lovely. I was served by the upmost kindness and professionalism. I found this pub on an off chance and I will be a forever returning customer. The prices are absolutely phenomenal. 5.50 for a pint? I live in London normally a pints at least 6-9 quid. Top work guys in what I can only call an impeccable establishment. My time here was so blissful It felt like I found a new home

Had Sunday lunch with my partner, me roast and she Sea Bass. The fish and accompaniments were apparently good. My roast OK, pork a bit of a small portion, very small piece of cracking (not off a joint but backfat crackling made separately and not flavoursome) and a bit of a disappointing 4 small roasties. Was only eating functionally so not worth raising at the time with staff who were all pleasant. We eat frequently in this chain and probably this was in keeping with our previous meals in Chef & Brewer. It did seem that they had a lot of bookings arriving as we were eating and I do think portions appear to have been calculated to ensure all bookings could be covered. Also seemed from surrounding tables many items were off the menu.

We went for a family meal, the food was excellent second to none, the service was really great, overall a great pub if you want to go for a meal or a quiet night out.
