Ye Olde Windsor Castle in Mole Valley

This place gets the job done for a good feed and is great for families. Staff were super friendly and attentive. The food hits the spot and falls firmly in the bracket of gastro pub grub. The venue still retains the chain vibe a bit which is a shame and probably wouldn't recommend for just drinks given the focus on food service. All in all a solid shout if visiting with friends and much improved since my previous visit.

Have visited this pub many times over the last 30yrs but not much recently because service and food were not as good as they had been; however, today was a very pleasant surprise. It seems much improved and definitely on the up. Great friendly service, good atmosphere and lovely food. Thank you.

Came in with quite low expectations for a late lunch and could not have been more pleasantly surprised! The staff were friendly & helpful, we were served by Kyle & Barry; and the food was lovely, thank you for recommending the Sticky Toffee Cheesecake by Chef Tom.

I cannot praise barry, steve and all the staff at the windsor castle enough. Food is always wonderful and the real ale is kept to perfection. Having been a regular for over 30 years this is the best team that we have had and i hope they continue for many more years.

Nowhere near as good as previous visits. I was served the wrong food initially. The pie had a rock hard crust and was not so good inside either. Really put me off. We waited ages for service and especially the bill. Will try again before making a final decision.

Sunday roast dinner was shocking, I had sirloin of beef, very mediocre, one small piece of carrot a tiny piece of broccoli, aunt Bessie frozen roast potatoes, deep fried to oblivion, there was no trace of potato left, Yorkshire pudding was soggy and full of oil, the oil tasted like it was days old all in all very disappointed and felt completely ripped of, the rest of the family had the same opinion with there roasts especially the Turkey roast that tasted like Turkey roll not a Turkey carved, even the kids meals were deep fried to death, I would personally stay well clear, me and my family came away with a very sour taste in are mouths, if I could give no stars I would of, definitely not recommend.

Pretty disappointing due to the food, or lack of! I went here tonight for my birthday. I'd booked a table for 6 and said we were coming for dinner so I was sure that would give them a good heads up that we'd be expecting to order off the menu. But when we tried to order our food there were lots of things they didn't have, or had run out of, both food and drinks and on a Friday night. And it wasn't even overly busy. It was such a shame as its a lovely pub. The waiting staff were great though, I couldn't falt them, they were polite and very efficient. The pub itself is a lovely place to be, with nice private tables and a lovely chilled but chatty atmosphere. But sadly it was the food that let it down. Out of the 4 dishes we ordered (one of us didn't come, one didnt want to eat and we would have ordered starters but they didnt have any of the ones we tried to order) 3 of them were disappointing due to poor cooking, very dry chicken & burnt lasagne being the main issues among others. Then they run out of two types of gin my friend tried to order, and didn't have any of the vodka I wanted so she ended up drinking wine and i had to buy a more expensive vodka. It wasnt the best evening if im honest. They did give us something off our bill which makes it a bit easier to accept but id prefer to have gone to somewhere where i know they'll give us what they're offering on the menu and cooked to a professional standard as I feel it should be when in a pub/restaurant. However this hasn't put me off completely, I'll still go there again for a drink but sadly I won't be ordering any food from them again.

Very friendly bar staff on entering. When I met a group of friends they had booked a table on the carpeted area. A member of staff politely told me that my dog was not allowed on the carpeted area (giving my dog some yummy biscuits by way of apology!). The group kindly agreed to move to an area where my dog was able to sit and the member of staff instantly went to a lot of trouble to move around tables and chairs for us. I was very appreciative of the effort that he went to, without any indication that it was a bother. Thank you for making my dog (and us) so very welcome! (No food was eaten so unable to comment on the food but my dog very much enjoyed the biscuits!)

Limited menu on this visit and fish and chips not the best. Staff consistently friendly and efficient.

Pleasant location and polite staff

Only came in for a hot chocolate but my goodness the service is some of the best I’ve dealt with. What a lovely welcoming atmosphere, the lady was wonderful. My friend forgot her bag and we came back when they had closed and they still let us in and were looking us up on Facebook to contact us about it! Impeccable service, would highly recommend! :)

Lovely place with good pub food. But the staff here are amazing. They were so welcoming when we visited yesterday with our little boy, and could not do enough for us. Even making a fuss of our little boy, which he loved. Thanks to all the staff who made our time so lovely.

We recently held our Mum's wake in the restaurant at the Windsor Castle - a light and airy room which somehow also managed to feel quite intimate. After an initial glitch around our booking and menu selection, Steve could not have been more helpful in ensuring the room was set up as needed, and the team of Mel, James and Chef Tom provided a welcoming and attentive service to our guests on the day. The buffet was extremely generous and provided an interesting mix of tasty flavours (some great veggie options too). But, perhaps more importantly for the occasion, we felt that we were welcome to stay for as long as we wanted and nothing was too much trouble for anyone. The next day, we again met with a warm welcome from Barry when we returned to collect some materials the team kindly kept there for us there overnight. Overall, we felt it was good value for money and very hard to fault. Thanks, everyone!

We had our annual pre Christmas meal at the Windsor yesterday and as ever, had a great time. Thank you Steve, chefs Terry and James, Kyle and Neil.

We meet every 2nd Wednesday at Ye Old Windsor Castle. We have always found the staff to be friendly and attentive. If an issue ever were to arise I am 100% positive that it would be dealt with promptly and politely (although we never have) as all staff are so professional.. Full 5 star rating in our books.

Steve and his team were great - even taking extra time to chose a bottle of champagne for this 21st birthday celebration. Great service by Steve and James - attentive but relaxing. My mixed grill was very good too - I think Terry was the chef. A lovely “country” pub, which while part of a chain still maintains a very welcoming and personal touch.

We went here for our first festive menu experience this year so far and we weren’t disappointed. Huge amounts of food, well-cooked and delicious (definitely have the mince pie sundae, oh my word), very good value, and delightful staff. We’d like to thank Neil, Mel and chef Terry for a lovely dinner…luckily, we left the car at home and so could walk back slowly to let it all go down!

Had a spontaneous trip to the Windsor as a celebration dinner for my Mrs. Was fantastic being greeted by the staff as we came in, and the atmosphere was so warming can see it's a cosy local pub. There was the assistant manager Steve who gave me some good information on all the beers on tap and went beyond to make sure we were able to get the meals we wanted. As it was the evening when we came in even the chefs came out and delivered our meals, explaining the dishes and having a laugh. Will definitely come back to eat again and hopefully try head chefs specials. Thankyou Steve, chef Tom and James for an amazing evening and meal

We were looked after by Kyle today and he did an outstanding job. We had a beautiful Sunday roast and like i said the service was excellent. The food aswell was beautiful today.. One last person I would like to thank is the manager Barry who as usual accommodated us like a true professional. Thank you Kyle , Barry , Chef and the rest of the team.. 10 out of 10..

I had a lovely meal washed down with a great bottle of the house red with the friends and family discount it was inexpensive and certainly worth the money. They also do NHS blue light discount. It’s local to me so I’m pleased to say I will happily be returning as the staff are always helpful and friendly along with great food Il sure il be popping in for a Christmas tipple.

Perfect service and good food. Will be back! Ok, so first off I am wary of chain pubs but it was a last minute decision and I thought I'd give it a go. Glad I did. The booking line is weird. It's a robot called Claire. Give "her" her dues it listened well and i got an immediate text comfirming booking. I just like real people :-) Anyway, the real waiting and management team were a joy. Engaging and genuinely interested by our experience. They called to warn us the roast may be down by our 5.30 sitting due to unexpected rush but we were in luck! The roast was enjoyable. Good portions and veg was good. No overcooked soggy brocolli on my plate. Turkey was moist. I'd have liked crispy potatoes and parsnips but cooking lots is hard. Good value. Felt very at home. If I was meeting a friend I would not feel uncomfortable waiting alone. Well done to team.

A shocking experience waited an hour and a half for food to come out no time updates food missing not to our order never coming back food always missing off the menu would not recommend surprising the business hasn’t gone under with cold food and shocking service I recommend boycotting the place

A nice lunchtime experience for our party of 5. Daphne, our Brazilian waitress, was very accommodating and attentive, and she provided excellent customer service ☺️ A good varied menu which we found reasonably priced, with the welcome addition of a "specials" menu. The seafood grill was most enjoyable, although I felt it should have included some vegetables or salad ..... not just fish and potatoes. We also found the assistant manager friendly and helpful.

I hadn't eaten at Ye Olde Windsor Castle for a couple of years but thought I would visit it again. The food was wonderful and there were so many options including a variety of vegan and vegetarian dishes. Not only was the food amazing but the service could not be faulted. The staff were extremely helpful and obliging. Will definitely be using it again and have passed the word around.

The service and the food are the main reasons I have given this restaurant such a high score. Professional, efficient, personable and caring, the waiting staff are brilliant! The food is delicious. Perfectly cooked, well presented and with vegetarian and vegan options available. This is a beautiful old building, decorated to perfectly compliment the original style in a modern way. We liked it so much we came back the next day! My keyword here is 'excellence'.

Went out for a Sunday roast with family for two birthdays, our booking was 1.15pm, we waited an hour to get to order our food, which then took another 15 minutes. We had no one attend to us for the first hour then when food came, which was served to us by the head chef, we had everyone over which is too much. We then finished and Daphny came over to us, two of us had finished but two were still eating and she proceeded to clear plates, which is really rude! Then it took her a while to clear the other two. We decided on no pudding and had to ask for the bill when she finally cleared them so that we weren’t waiting forever to leave. The food though was lovely, and the head chef was so friendly and attentive!

We have been going to the pub for the last 25 years and it has been a bit up and down. But recently it has improved and we gave a 5 star rating for food and service last time as it was well deserved. Unfortunately this was not our last experience. We arrived without a booking and turned away. 2 people who had also not booked, were subsequently allowed a table, even though we were before them. Very disappointing and we took our business elsewhere with a bill of over £90. Your loss Windsor castle!

Pretty standard chef and brewer pub. This is a very niche comment, but the Korean chicken starter was not as good as I've had in other chef and brewer pubs - it was missing the sauce and vegetables. It was literally just a skillet of chicken wings. That aside, the pub was fine. Not much of an atmosphere as there weren't many people there (so great if you like it quiet). Food was fine, nothing really to comment on. Service was fantastic, our waiter was charismatic and friendly and even gave us a free bottle of prosecco to celebrate my grand-in-laws wedding anniversary. Good menu, good service, good experience. We had vouchers so got a significant discount!

We booked and had supper there last night. The food was a little late being served as another table had been waiting an hour and that was causing some chaos. The male waiter on duty was useless but the lady saved the day. Our starters were fine but my daughters koren chicken was burnt black and my no leaf salad was tiny and had 4 key missing ingredients. I would complain direct but there is no email address. Nice atmosphere and decor but the kitchen was obviously having a very bad day. Won't be going back.

Gone badly downhill. Drinks to table took 20 mins, best to buy at the bar. Food order never arrived after 30 mins then had to be re done due to some cheap tablet ordering which didnt work. Broken freezer so no kids food, not told until waited an hour. Avpid

Placed our food order at 7.30pm and waited an hour to be served. The pub was not full and the order for five was standard. When the food came it was decent pub grub. The serving staff were friendly but our experience was marred by the slow service.

We booked for lunch a few days in advance, only to be told when we arrived on the day that there was no food as no chef. Why could they have not phoned or e mailed me to let me know before we made a wasted journey? Not impressed.
