Great varied menu!!! Awesome food. I have a gorgeous steak with rib cooked to perfection!!!

Friendly staff, fun regulars, good food & drink and plenty of choice. Our two dogs are welcomed in and treated well, the ‘dogs dinner’ area is a great touch.

We had a large party of 12 food was lovely and staff were friendly and helpful. Decor was nice also looked freshly done. Have been many times here and will be back in future

Had a very nice experience lovely staff and me and my husband enjoyed our lovely meals we ordered a second drink on the app and it came straight away very pleased with our visit.

They didn't have Horseradish, hence only two stars. Other than that the food and service was fine.

Food OK, typical pub grub. Large portion. Booked table ahead via their website. We waited over an hour for our meals to come to the table. Staff uninterested when we chased up our order. Parts of the dish were cold I.e mac n cheese and fries. Very loud and noisy it was packed. Wouldn't rush back bit disappointed 😕

Ok so firstly, service and atmosphere were alright. Nothing too special they gave us our food after ~10-20 minutes of waiting. The one good thing about this place was their drinks, they were alright. But the food was abysmal. We walked in and were told that there was no gas so they had a temporary menu, which like I can understand but it would've been nice to have been emailed or something before hand, so we decided we'd eat there and we all ordered the sizzling grilled chicken. It came out and firstly, half of my chips were barely cooked. I'm talking they had been warmed at best, the other half of the chips were like kind of cooked but honestly I cant tell you how they tasted because I didn't eat them, but my mother said they weren't really great. I didn't have the vegetables either but they also looked disgusting, apparently the seasoning on the vegetables was weird and didn't taste very good. Finally, the chicken. Oh my god it was awful. Firstly it was unseasoned except for this weird stuff on top which honestly tasted alright but it was weirdly crunchy so it kind of made it weird to eat. The chicken breast was also plain white and overcooked, looked extremely unappetizing. This was genuinely the saddest meal I've ever eaten. I got food poisoning from the Cocked hat before and I would much rather go back for round 2 than ever come here again. Oh and this also costed like £50 actual scam. Unfortunately I didn't think to take any pictures because I was too distracted being astounded at how awful the meal was.

Absolutely appalling meal here. I booked in advance, as it was my mother’s birthday lunch. I chose this place because of the variety of food on the menu. I have a son who is a picky eater, plus a mother that only ever wants scampi or cod when we eat out. So i made sure both would be accommodated, i eat pretty much anything. So upon arrival we are told they have no gas, & only have a limited menu. Bit annoying as i had booked, so they had my email address. Forewarning would have been nice. But ok, these things happen. Because the choice was limited, my son & I ordered a sizzling chicken dish. Went to order only to find out they couldn’t do scampi or fish, so that’s my mother’s choice ruined. She ended up ordering the same as us out of desperation. Oh my god, when the meals arrived they looked absolutely repulsive. A pile of soggy weirdly seasoned vegetables, with a pasty & rubbery piece of chicken sat on top, that had more weird looking seasoning on. Plus a handful of the driest oven chips i’ve even seen. My son’s chips looked awful, some barely cooked, so he refused to touch them. I ended up giving him my chicken as well. But he ate a few mouthfuls & couldn’t eat it as it was horrible. I discarded my meal after a couple of chips, & my mother did the same after eating a small amount of chicken. Now we chose a meal that shouldn’t have been affected by the lack of gas, so if that’s how that meal is normally served, then that is shocking. In the end we all discarded our meals, & left. I wish we’d left when we first got there & gone somewhere else. I certainly will never eat here again.

Great pub, great food, excellent customer service.

I'm a little disappointed with the old ship, to be honest. Food was a little more than fashionably late. The food wasn't that great either. Really, we left a fair bit and left still hungry. The location is fantastic, especially in the summer. i can imagine it would be lovely. Just improved service time food quality, this place would be a winner.

Food took the anticipated 45 minutes to arrive. The online ordering system worked well. Was a nice experience choosing the food and extras yourself. How ever when the food arrived it was below my expectation, Mixed grill chicken was dry and pretty bland, the steak was very poorly seasoned and also was very tasteless even when covered in a peppercorn sauce. Gammon or fat bacon slice was also short of flavors. The curly fries were very good and were very flavoursome. Ithe whole meal was a wetherspoons type experience but short of flavour. Won't be going back for more on this trip.

Very bad service food orders wrong then a 45min wait for a desert...absolutely terrible should hire more staff to cope with the demand and quantity of customers ...never eating there again... Cocked hat is much better shame they were full.. had to suffer this old ship.

Nice chilled beer in the sun with food to follow. Beer was good, but unfortunately, they forgot an ingredient to the burger, which isn't great with the signature burger they have on sale.

Went here with my mom and brother who were visiting from London for the weekend. We sat down and started browsing the menu only to decide that we would order through the app to utilize the the £5 discount through signing up, and by doing two orders that were placed 4 minutes apart. My brother ordered Chicken Wings and a Burger, while I did an order for a Mac and Cheese and a Chicken Burger. After sitting there for around 25 minutes my brothers food arrived from his order and I assumed that the other order would turn up shortly. 15 minutes later I went up to the bar to query where our order was and got given a response as if there was a problem that! was asking where my meals were. The server then went to find out where the meals weere and was told that it would be 5 more minutes only to receive my meals in 10 minutes. Once the second order of meals turned up, ! discovered that my Burger was missing half the ingredient on it that are displayed on the menu and my mother's Mac and Cheese was also covered in spring onions when it doesn't say anything about there being spring onions on the the dish on the menu. We instantly returned our meals and received a full reimbursement for the inconvenience to our time for both orders. This still doesn't change that our Sunday afternoon lunch was completely ruined by the shere lack of attention to detail and consideration for other people's time. Rather than the burger and fries that I was so looking forward to, I had to settle for some Greggs sausage rolls and a bag of crisps for lunch. I can only give this place one star across the board because what happened to us was completely unacceptable.

Good service, food & beverage very reasonable priced. Dining area clean and well laid out. Scampi was nice as was the sausage and mash. Batter not so good on the fish and chips.

On a good day weather wise this pub would have lovely sea views. Staff were helpful especially Krystina who catered for our table. Nice pub with good wholesome food including meal deals on specific foods from the menu. Plenty of space and a large car park outside.

Ticked all the boxes. It's no michelin stared but for cheap eats it's very good. Food was good value well prepared and well presented. Staff were helpful friendly and surprisingly young, so don't say young people can't do a decent job. Recommend by me anyway.

Food great as usual… just wish that you would include non alcoholic drinks in any promotions run. Pretty please could the staff allocating tables read the notes on the online booking form as this never seems to happen regarding wheelchair access…

Superb Value For Money. Lovely friendly staff. I ordered a 'Surf and Turf', which I upgraded to an 8oz Sirloin steak. It arrived quickly, and cooked to perfection. The Pub has had a very recent refurbishment and is very welcoming, and comfortable. Fantastic location, overlooking 'The Solent' towards the Isle of Wight, and a lovely outside seating area, with stunning views. I will return here, whenever I can, from Wales.

After numerous visits to the old ship over the years which resulted in very disappointed experiences including and not limited to my self and partner both having food poisoning, we decided to try again and give them another shot after its been reopened with a new menu. Generally speaking the place is nice and the menu had lots more options. The staff was very friendly. However, upon ordering we asked for no hot sauce due to an allergy. Upon recieving our food it was covered in hot sauce. I sent it back (staff was very nice) and recieved a new meal. However once eating the wrap i noticed the taste of hot sauce then after looking i saw bit of hot sauce still in the wrap. The chef must have just scrapped the hot sauce and re served me the origional order. Luckily my allergies are not that severre however it makes me question whether they take allergies and food requests seriously. For me its a mild issue which could cause swelling depending on the spices used in the sauce however for others this could result in serious consequences. Please take allergies more seriously once again we have left disappointed. On a positive note the food has improved a lot and we was satisfied with the quality just ashame about the other issue.

The food, drink and atmosphere were very good. If I was to moan about anything it would be how it takes for the food to come out but this is not excessively long. I would also like to say that the men's toilets are always very clean and tidy.

Staff friendly but rushed off their feet. Sizzling steak was not cooked as I had asked and it was tough and gristly. Pub was so busy decided not to send it back as I would have had to wait ages for replacement meal.

Had an absolutely amazing experience here today. The staff were absolutely amazing and very kind, especially the young lad who delivered our food to the table. The food was brilliant and extremely delicious. The wait time for food was short and the atmosphere as a whole was fantastic. Will be coming back here!

Unacceptable one hour wait for food!!!

The food was good value and plentiful. However, when ordering the wine, we were told that the offer of 2 for 1 on 19 Crimes wine was not available as they had run out and it was not affordable. This was taken up with Head Office, who passed my comment on back to The Old Ship and all was denied. I know what happened and I have no reason to give false information.

Good pub to watch the football and Guinness is good too

I love the old ship. Always accommodating, speedy service, good menu choice and love the location. All the staff are approachable and friendly, George in particular is always willing to go that extra mile and makes our visits a pleasure! The old ship is always our number 1 choice on a weekend for somewhere to go for dinner or drinks where we are guaranteed to have a great meal and made to feel welcome.

The staff were absolutely brilliant and being a disabled customer, without having to ask, the staff member who greeted us upon arrival, seeing I was disabled, Immediately said let me find you a more accessible table, which he did. The food as always was top class and hot, served as always with a smile. Another one or two disabled parking places is the only change I would make. A very pleasurable lunch, thank you.

Food was ok. Its the Parking Fine of £60 that has soured it even more. I will not be going back. Not impressed with paying for parking and the privilege of eating there.

We were totally amazed at the quality and value for money. For £5.99 each we had full English breakfast with limitless toast. Coffee good too. Lovely surroundings with views of the Isle of Wight.

I had the Good Fellas Burger it was totally beefy AND An absolutely a knock out 🙌

what a fantastic evening at the Old Ship. had a lovely meal. I ordered the pork belly and ribs! it was amazing! originally, the waiter brought out just pork belly with no ribs, but it was my own fault as i didn’t properly read the menu so when i ordered i just said “pork belly”. didn’t bother me as the waiter promptly changed my meal to what i initially wanted and it was superb. props to the whole team for how hard they work. good job!

We always have a good time when we visit you, food is great, service is second to none compared to other eateries in the area. I would recommend visiting the Old Ship, you’ll not be disappointed.

Food when it came out was ok but I have had better for the price also took a long time coming out almost an hour it was busy also they have put tables close together so feels cramped where we sat while we was there other people had problems with their food I don't think we will rush back there

Well how lovley dose the pub look now after the refurbishment. Just had breakfast was really tasty and came out hot in a speedy time. Staff where very friendly especially a young man called owen. Thanks will definitely be back.

Very friendly and lovely staff. We ordered our dinner, and it came out promptly. We went for the 2 for £12.75 selection. We both had the 7oz Gammon topped with pineapple and an egg, and it was also with seasoned chips and peas. It was great value.

We visited a few days before on the off chance, came back Monday for bingo too!... lovely atmosphere very friendly helpful staff, Charlie helped with app as I got a tad confused, he was very helpful.

It was a group on voucher, the pub refused to accept it, they said it was a groupon error. So we didn't eat there, you may wish to consider leaving the scheme, as to be honest the menu choice is embarrassing, why restrict the menu to the cheapest items you sell?
