Served by Emily who was lovely and friendly, and very attentive throughout our visit. We'll certainly be back for another evening.

Our server, Emily, was excellent. The food was great too. Quiz was great fun.

Emily was very professional in her approach to the table. Her attitude to the table, which was a busy table, was cool and calm, managing us well.

Amina was excellent and looked after us extremely well. The food was perfectly cooked. The atmosphere was very pleasant and friendly. Highly recommend this pub

Great service by Amina last week when we visited, and well looked after by the team that greeted and seated us. Food was fresh, hot and delicious.

Visited with friends for a Sunday roast, which was delicious. Slow cooked beef was amazing. They were very accommodating, changing our seating time to earlier than we had booked and then allowed us to change to a round table. Seemed very busy so I would recommend booking. Excellent, position on the edge of the river Thames. Perfect for eats and a walk.

Made an online booking for 1pm but arriving was told they did not have my booking and i must have booked a different Kings Arms! Not a good start but we were seated but advised of the several non availablity menu items. Thankfully Hannah quickly arrived smiling and soon got a high chair. Hannah is an asset to the pub and was really pleasant and friendly. The Kings Arms is such a lovely pub situated by the river. Unfortunately the food served leaves a lot to be desired. We do go there quite often but never know what the food will be like, it really does need to be better.

This was a lovely surprise. I had not visited in a few years and was impressed by the new decor (the theme pattern extending from the menu through to the wallpaper of the lavatories), warm and welcoming ambience and indeed the warm and friendly welcome we received. Our visit was in response to reading about a breakfast deal for walkers in October and although the manager had not been updated on this deal, he was calm and nice about it and immediately settled us in. We really enjoyed the warm and very attractive interior, as well as the view onto the lovely lock. Our breakfast sandwiches were good and hot drinks appreciated after our chilly but gloriously sunny early walk. The promotion has done its work as we are now re-acquainted with this lovely eating pub and are sure to return. Even as we left, staff clearing the nice outside eating area politely thanked us for coming - all these little things make a great impression. Well done, Kings Arms!

Lovely place, came for a sunday dinner with my girl and it was so nice. Hostess was lovely as well.

We had (and always do) a very good experience at the Kings Arms in Sandford. The food is good for the price, but what really elevated the experience was the service and waiting from the waitress Hannah.S. Always served with a smile, and prepared to always meet our needs. Made us feel extremely welcome and important (and we’re definitely not😁)

Very tasty Sunday evening meal. Great wine at decent price. Beer selection could be broader. Lovely staff who are clearly overstretched but attentive, friendly and helpful. I would implore management to have more people on shift to make it even better for patrons and more manageable for the hard working staff members. Great place to sit out on a nice day too and a stunning location.

We were served by Amna who was great. Everything arrived fast. We ordered gammon and fish and chips. The fish and chips was a bit over priced and small. Peas were watery but all tasted nice. The service was so lovely and cheerful. All the staff were nice from the meet and greet to the mini out and coffee. It’s a chef and brewer it’s a pub with pub food.

Only one chef cooking so we waited 50 mins for our meal. But it was good eating when it arrived.

We booked a table last night and had a great time with our friends. They did experience problems in the kitchen which affected the food availability, due to an issue with the equipment. It did take a long time to get our meal and there was a bit of a muddle with our order. However, I am still giving it 5 stars due to how they dealt with this. The food was good, the service from all staff was friendly and they compensated us for the issues with our order. You could see how busy they were, yet we were spoken to with a smile and they were efficient with the service. Hannah was lovely and served us the majority of the evening - she must be exhausted with how much she was doing.

Drinks are standard but apparently they don't serve you sunday lunch if you don't make a booking. Which they don't mention anywhere on their google posting nor in the pub itself. We cycled 24 minutes to have a nice sunday roast today at 1.30pm only to be unceremoniously turned away because we had no booking. There were still lots of empty tables and they didn't look that busy so I don't get why they have this rule. We've been for drinks before but will not be returning to this pub anymore.

We were greeted at the door by Hannah S. she was lovely and welcoming. We hadn’t booked but she seated us straight away. This was mid week at lunch time. There was a large party and several smaller tables of which Hannah appeared to be attending all. She was super, and the only reason I’ve given the visit 3 stars is due to her. The food was poor, cold and disappointing. I know they were short staffed, and hope that the food standard would improve if fully staffed. The only highlight was the standard of service by Hannah S. She was excellent.

Had a lovely meal this evening at the kings arms, David really made a fuss and went above and beyond, would recommend and we will be back again

Spot of lunch at the King's arms with friends was lovely place to gather and have a catch up. The service from Alex was really on point and making us feel welcomed. And the food was delicious!

Called in to suss the pub one lunchtime for first time. Only had ice cream and shandy but really enjoyed it. Staff v friendly especially Hannah S who was most helpful. 4 star food because we only had ice cream and 4 star service because we called in right in middle of lunch and they were packed.

Another great time at Kings arms. Always like to pop by here when I can. Amazing service by new guy Alex. Great food great service what more could you ask for. :)

Came here with friends and had called great evening.even though it was busy, a lovely gentleman looked after us and made sure we were taken care of. The food was great. We were kept hydrated with lots of drinks!!! Thankyou for lovely evening. The kings arms we will definitely be back!!

We have visited on our walk with our dog and we had a wonderful time! The food was absolutely amazing! The staff was very friendly and attentive, they have brought water and treats for our dog. Even we could see they are busy, they have provided an excellent service and we just had the best time. Absolutely amazing! Thank you so much.

The food is not bad, and there are very nice gardens and river views around, BUT they really need to improve their customer service and hospitality, as they ruined my visit last time.

Visiting this lovely pub right next to a lovely river sat with friends and family with a spectaular river view on a lovely fine tuesday evening. Food was average. But customer service from our waitress Emily.A and it has turnt our visit from a 4 to a 10. She is very considerate. Kind and has tried to really advice and help and recommend different things from the menu as well as go out of her way to give us a wonderful experience

I visited here with my wife for a spot of dinner earlier in the week. Was seated by a lovely respectable well mannered waitress. This pub is in a beautiful setting. Lovely food but this can vary as not all occasions i have visited and the food was up to standard. Although the food wasn't the best what made us sure that we would visit again was our lovely waitress (Emily.A) very happy to communicate and make us feel welcome. Very friend and a real asset to this pub. And does not make anything to difficult for us. Very helpful and lovely. Will visit this pub again

Awful. Waited an hour on Sunday afternoon for a COLD roast beef dinner. Aunt Bessie's rank roast potatoes. Absolutely dire. Horrendous.

Went for dinner - gorgeous pub, really good menu with a balance of vegetarian, meat, fish dishes, nice range of non-alcoholic drinks as well as a good wine menu, and the service was excellent.

Pub by the river; great location. We ordered seabass, gammon, extra chips, beer and a bottle of white wine. No great expectations really as I had umpteen disappointing food experiences in British pubs. The food that we had that day was mediocre, eatable. The server, Charlotte, (if I remember her name right) was a star: well-mannered and did her job with enthusiasm and love. Such attitude is rarely experienced / witnessed nowadays by me when I go to the pubs. BUT we had an unforgettable awful experience on how the assistant manager on-duty on 19th Aug 2024 around 2pm treated us: rude, cold and racist. I so wanted to have pudding after our main course but my friends were so disappointed with his behaviour so they begged to just go to The Store Oxford instead to have pudding and hot drinks. I remember I even thanked the asst manager several times after my inquiry, after placing our order and when he served our beer and wine but he was colder than our drinks and Thames river; didn’t acknowledge my thanks. How unusual! Brits are usually nice, polite and friendly. I would still come back to this pub soon because of the lovely and well-mannered server, Charlotte. I would still try to give a chance and to support British pubs.

I visited today on my lunch break and had the crispy chicken burger and it was a solid 8 out of 10 the waitress who served me Hannah S was amazing and made the experience 10x better even tho it was very busy nothing was a trouble.

We have been here a few times now and always been lovely. Food is well priced and good portion sizes. Menu provides a good range of options to suit different preferences. Service is always friendly and swift, special thanks to Hannah S for her brilliant service.

Went here with a friend for a late lunch on a Sunday afternoon and deeply enjoyed! We were served by Emad he did an incredible job making sure we have everything we needed. 5 stars! Especially great for dietary restrictions.

The staff were very friendly, helpful and extremely aware of the menu and how things were cooked. The food was impeccable and hot and served in a timely manner. We would definitely return and recommend to friends and family.

An enjoyable meal last evening food was good, but 4 star not 5, we felt. Service was excellent, (despite being told, 45 min wait for food, food arrived in 20 mins!). Friendly efficient and helpful waiting staff plus host was courteous and helpful. A good experience. Thank you.

Disappointed in the Sunday roast , very small portions and no roast potatoes just deep fried.

Way too expensive and won't seat you in a good area if you're not dining, hence not a great spot to get a pint after hefty walks or cycle. Food is great, when you actually get served.

Being right beside Sandford Lock it is a great place to stop and take in the scenery. It has a pay car park which is free if having a drink or meal in the pub. The food has a good choice and is well cooked as a rule. Today however I had to mark it down one as the Smotheted Chicken was on the dry side. The service on a whole was good.

Picturesque venue, lovely atmosphere, food as expected from a pub…. But time left the establishment behind, ordering can be so much easier with a simple QR code at the table. Service is friendly but slow.

Nice pub with good food options, nice view and parking spaces. Good lunch meal options in a reasonable price. Service, mainly outside could be improved in the summer.

Very disappointed. We used to go frequently for dinner in the past and were very happy with the food and the service. It has changed in the past few months. Went there tonight for my birthday with friends for dinner. Nobody asked us if we wanted any drinks. It took them more than an hour to bring in the starters and we weren’t even half way through the starters when they brought 2 of our 3 mains. They forgot to bring mine main and we had to ask for it after 15 minutes. Parts of the main was missing. Very disappointing and won’t go there anymore.

It was a disappointing experience. We ordered 3 dishes which took more the 45 minutes to arrive. 2 of the dishes a fish cake and a vegetarian tart were frozen in the middle. We were offered a replacement. Unfortunately by this time we had no apatite left to wait another 45 minutes. The prices were similar to high end restaurant with poor service and worst to be served frozen food.

Food was ok but a few faults. Roasted new potatoes turned up just new potatoes. Fish was tasty but portions were small and a piece of fish 2 bits of asparagus and a spoonful of grains for £20 ? also ice cream should have been 3 scoops but only 2 was served without the sauce. However service received from Emily A was excellent.

Great local pub. Clean, tidy and comfortable. Good selection of drinks including real ales. No food, although visiting food services are available from time to time.

We waited for over 50 minutes for just a cup of chips and they kept on saying it would be 10 mins but it just added up. But they did give us an extra cup for the wait

We visit the Kings Arms at Sandford regularly and have never been disappointed with the food, prices or the very warm welcome. Dear reader, If you have never visited this restaurant before you are missing a great and friendly experience. Fantastic location, fantastic food and fantastic staff.

I've been coming to the King's Arms for nearly 30 years having excellent service and food. Yesterday I went with 2 friends and asked for a the Monday to Thursday from 4 o'clock supper menu, the barman who was lovely didn't know about it and asked the head waiter who wasn't sure but sorted it out but we didn't get what we ordered and what we got was terrible we paid at the start and no one was around when we were leaving. So bad

The location of this pub is great by the river and it looks fine inside too. However, the food is awful and the service is not much better. I had the pork terrine. It was really dry and tasteless and others who had this thought the same - it was nearly inedible. The squid starter, which one of our group had, was inedible and she spat it out. There was no service around whenever you needed it either. Please avoid this pub - they don't deserve your custom and I won't be returning there!

Lovely riverside pub with lock, with good parking and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The staff were friendly and attentive, and there was a good selection of food and drinks.

Nice pub, lovely venue, but bored looking staff and you can't get food unless you've booked, even midweek. The garden well...bird poo all over tables under the large tree, yuk!...debris and empty glasses everywhere.

Stopped off here today for a catch up with family. Lovely place. Food was great and there was no long wait for it to arrive. All the staff were happy to help. We were asked several times if we were happy with everything. From what I could tell they have a new manager (Lee) that has taken over. I would definitely stop again when next in the area.

Lovely place, just stopped in for a coffee whilst walking the Thames Path, wish I was staying for lunch cos the food looks delicious. Coffee was good though, good price and nice little side biscuit.

The location is beautiful. The staff were very friendly and trying hard. The food was poor and not at all as described, and the staff didn't really have the right level of experience to understand why this wasn't OK. Everything except the location just needs improvement and then it'll be lovely.
