We had brilliant weather in April so sat outside. Food was nicely presented and tasted nice.

Poppy and David were very friendly. Excellent experience.

Great service from our waitress Poppy. The food was very good and the pub was very busy . We visit often and have had no problems during our visits. I would recommend as it is next to the Thames and has plenty of parking spaces.

Not so good tonight. Busy when we arrived and possibly not enough staff on. Waited ages for our drinks to arrive and had to go to the bar to ask where they were. Lady was just doing our drinks so I went and sat back down and then waited. The waitress said she would bring our order but still waiting and then saw that our drinks order was ready so went over and got it myself. Went with friends tonight and it seems that there are new staff. The menu has changed and all our meals were very nice. We also had a pudding, rice pudding with strawberries and 3 small shortcake biscuits, very nice. It made a change from the usual puddings.

Poppy was an amazing waitress. Super friendly and made the experience that even more better. The food was great as always

Great location by the side of the river, plenty of free parking. Just add your registration details to the screens in the pub. Good choice of food, especially the specials. Great choice of beers, etc. Good choice of inside and outside seating. We were served by Dave, who was very knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. We had the fish and chips and the pork belly. Both were well presented, well cooked, and very filling. We couldn't manage a dessert. The prices were very good. We would definitely recommend it, and we will return.

We were really looked after, our many requirements were met with a smile! We had a table reserved by the bar for after our meal and spent all evening at The Kings Arms. Thank you Poppy and David!

Really disappointed with the meal 😕 😪 if you have dietary requirements don't go there. The server tried to help me with their app. Manager dam rude. Toilets disgusting only one out of three usable. No soap available thank god I had hand sanitizer. Won't be returning.

We have visited this pub, taking friends and family on several occasions over many years, and have always been very happy with the food and service. I don't know what's gone wrong! We had booked, and the restaurant wasn't full or busy. We were given the Sunday menu. We arrived early to choose our meals. Waited at least half an hour for the meals to arrive. Husband wanted fish and chips. There were none. He chose chicken with bbq. sauce. All the plates were cold. No chunky chips so French fries. Two small pieces of chicken without the sauce, which he had to ask for, and a handful of wilted rocket leaves. I chose roast pork. Once again the plate was cold, and so was the meal. Three dried up slices of pork, no crackling, as stated on the menu, a dollop of minced up cabbage with a few peas thrown in, half a carrot, a few fried up chunks of potato, thankfully warm, and a Yorkshire pudding. The Yorkshire pudding looked spectacular, but it was soggy in the middle and I was unable to cut it so I ended up picking it up to eat it. I could go on about the rest of the meals, but I think you have some idea. Nine people eating and only one meal passable , and that was pie, but once again, no chunky chips. The very charming waitress didn't return to ask us " how was your meal"? I think that she already knew! We will not return.

Good Sunday lunch staff a little slow think they were new also don't give everyone a full menu or a la carte and the say oh you can only chose Sunday lunch menu. Just gets confusing all in all a good meal. we have visited again for Sunday lunch they were very busy and we were told upfront that there was half an hour delay as they only had 2 chefs. the service was great our waitress was chatty and made sure that the food was great, even to removing the Bakewell tart from the bill as she didn't think it was up to standard. this is just a lovely easy going place to have Sunday lunch.

Steak was all gristle, had to return it . Food has gone down hill since the change of management.

Fantastic location and beer garden in the sun next to Sandford Lock. Food is pretty lackluster and absolutely zero urgency from the person at the bar when a queue is lingering. Takes forever to be served. Routinely visit as the location is so nice but every time the glasses are filthy. Need to top up the salt in the glass wash!

I don't like giving bad reviews but this place is going downhill. They are always running out of certain choices on the menu. They need to keep more stock of items. Even had a PIMMS with no fruit in it as they had run out! This used to be such a great place to eat and drink. Let's hope it improves soon.

We used to visit frequently but hadn't visited for about 18 months as we felt the food and service went a bit downhill. We decided to give it another go and visited today for a Sunday Roast. We both ordered the Trio of Meats - beef, turkey and pork. The turkey and pork were lovely but the beef was inedible. It was so tough we couldn't even cut it. We were offered an alternative meat instead and Dave generously adjusted our bill which we did not expect. He was very attentive and seemed to be interacting with all the guests. He clearly cares about what he does and does a good job. We felt very well looked after and hopefully will be back again soon.

We had a lovely time there! We loved the food and the service. Was one of the best pub meal that we had in the Uk.

Must have been busy as food was not as good as it could have been. Infact very disappointing. We were a big party (10) - pies came out with burnt tops and very dry - pea risotto was flavourless and under cooked with hard rice - had to add salt to get some flavour. Garlic bread was dry and cooked only on one side which was slightly burnt too. Think we pushed the kitchen to cook too many meals at once. The other 10 dinners were OK. Not sure I'll rush back with a big table but will go and try the food again as I've heard it's normally good and this might have been a one off. Staff fantastic and attentive, especially when having to wait for very late dishes after everyone else had nearly finished. Will go back but not in a hurry after our experience.

The place was packed on a Tuesday evening so they must be doing something right. My small portion of soup was cold and not much better once warmed up. My lasagne was burnt on both sides it tasted in the middle. With cider and coffee £24.

Lovely place and service. Unfortunately we didn't have any food, we only had drinks, but we will definitely come back to try their food.

Booked for a Mother’s Day breakfast Was greeted by a gentleman who was already prompting us to sit at our table explaining that they need the table back at a certain time as it’s Mother’s Day and they are busy !!! There was only 2 tables with people on Went to the bar asked if they did a bucks fizz or a mimosa was told no they don’t sell that he then said the drinks menu is at the table which I found quite rude Saw the sold a peach Bellini I also thought he may of recommended this (obvs his hospitality skills are on point ) Ordered our breakfasts and I specifically asked if the baked beans could be piping hot ( due to a previous time they were cold ) Food came out and wow!!!!how can you get a breakfast so wrong??? Lukewarm food , sausages had obviously been sat in a warm pan and burnt on one side The teaspoon of beans were lukewarm and dried up Avocado was tasteless no lemon juice Hardly any scrambled egg with it looked like the last bits were scraped on it that dish got sent back!!! One of our party re ordered something instead and ended up eating alone This used to be one of our favorite restaurants and have now lost all faith Where is the manager and how is this awful food be allowed to even leave the kitchen???

Amended a booking with a supplied email to head office,information never got to the restaurant.we didn't all get to eat,However I can't complain about the staff on duty 3 /3/24

This place used to be my favourite up until today because I’m literally sitting here in the pub and feeling terrible about the food we just ordered. We came here to feed our souls because of the great food they serve. We ordered Cajun chicken burger without bacon and duo of Korean chicken with just chicken strips instead of chicken breast. It turned out to be a disaster when the order arrived, because the chicken burger was so dry, there was no cheese or any sauce in it. The patty was completely dry, it didn’t have the crispy fried coat that it normally used to have. The Korean chicken had no sauce in it, the strips were grilled and not fried, because they’re normally fried (I know this because I’ve had it so many times here). The salad wasn’t pickled. We then complained. The lady came to the table, and just took the plates away while I was still telling her what was wrong. She then came back with the burger (only with the change of bun and onions were also removed this time), and got a cup of sauce for the Korean chicken and got the salad which was dipped in sugar water, it wasn’t pickled. They’ve clearly served us with some old leftover food because we’ve never experienced this before. Despite complaining, they didn’t value us. Henceforth, we are leaving the pub without eating it. There’s no value for customers, they think they can just fool us and they’ve got this pride, I’ve no clue for what ! There’s only one lady, who’s good among the staff and she’s understanding. But apart from her, this place has ruthless staff, ridiculous service, ridiculous food. It was a waste of money. We didn’t feel welcomed this time. Never visiting this place again.

Lady at door not very helpful and quite abrupt, possibly as we weren't locals. Tuesday night, not that full, plenty of spare tables, but no room for family of 4. Sure, we should have booked but out of the way pub, wet night, Tuesday night, really? If she had politely checked and apologised then fine but you don't get return customers with that attitude, sorry.

Food was luke warm at best, toilets dirty, service unfriendly. Won’t be back.

Great location, very popular pub restaurant. Sunday lunch and driving, so a bit disappointed with the availability of alcohol free beers - I had the last bottle in the pub. Food was good.

We visit once a month for dinner with friends. Friendly staff and good food. Chicken and ham hock pie and lasagne tonight were particularly good! Updated: Jan 2024. Staff not as good or friendly as before. Steak and ale pie tasted good but meat ok only. Korean chicken apparently very good.

we were fitted in yesterday without having booked, the staff, atmosphere and food were fantastic, it was a rare treat for us as i had just brought my wife back from the radcliffe and thought id treat her

Pretty disappointed after being recommended to go here. Location and interior are lovely. Staff undertrained and pretty disinterested. Wait for food was about 45 minutes but really not worth the wait. It was just about OK but dry and bland. Staff just didn’t seem bothered.Will not be back

A pub I remembered from my childhood (my dad taught me to ride a bike for the first time in the garden) - My wife and I visited for a 'pie and pint' lunch in May 2022 on a lovely summer day, but many months later were disappointed to get a Parking Fine for using a Pub Car Park. Non UK-Residents get caught out by the American owned shyster EPC Plc group trying to extort fees (good luck in the German courts fellas) from unsuspecting pub-goers ... and yes, I now know that I should have the read the signs on display. Shame

Be careful to call ahead of time if you think you might want to order food from the bar. They refused to serve food when I went at 7.30p on a Tuesday, despite the fact that the restaurant was open.

Couldn't fault the food. We ordered from the Christmas menu, which was tasty, plentiful and good value for money. Compliments to the chef. The service was fine, but the only time we had a smile from the waitress was when she was given a tip.

Visited here as we have before for a Christmas works do. It was a beautiful setting. The Christmas meal was excellent, ( a good amount of food too) as was the friendly and attentive service. It was a really great night. Thankyou.

Log fire and warming atmosphere with prompt service. Menu had a good range to choose from. Food had good flavours and great taste. Traditional pub next to the river, off the main roads. You could eat outside in better Weather.

The Kings Arms is located down a narrow road right on the River Thames with plenty of outside seating and nioce views. It has a spacious interior with many nooks and crannies for an intimate meal - or bigger tables for groups. We ate there on two consecutive nights in November because it was so good. We ate the lasagne - good portions and very tasty, fishad chips - a bit watery, but perfectly OK, and steak and ale pie - enormous portions and frankly amongst the best I have ever tasted! Prices were reasonable: Typically £15 for a main course and a 250ml of wine cost £6.79. Service was good, meals arrived quickly and there was lots of car parking space. Altogether a great place for good pub food.

We had reserved a table, but the bartender ignored us on arrival. The over-worked server then allocated us a small table by the stairs, apologising that couples are squeezed into this table by the computer. As it was a rainy day, we ordered soup to warm up. But it arrived lukewarm. The heavy metal mini pots do not retain heat. It was immediately reheated and server apologised fulsomly. We asked about the small size and were told that management had recently decided to reduce the soup bowls. Our main courses were good. The surroundings by the Lock are lovely. Greene King management do need to delegate more responsibility to the local staff and not be so stingy with soup - charge more for more! I stress these are signs of poor management - the staff are doing their best!

We have been here a few times now and can't fault it at all. The food was delicious, staff where lovely and went above and beyond. So pleased we found this pub, will defiantly be returning.

We’ve always loved this pub for its atmosphere, beautiful setting and the food. However, since you changed the menu last year we no longer visit as often. As a vegetarian I adored the ‘fish & chips’ Halloumi style, but this was taken off the menu. I’ve tried all the other veggie options and they’re not really very nice. My husband loved the muscles as a starter and you took them off the menu too. Disappointed our favourite restaurant doesn’t do our favourite dishes anymore, so rather than a monthly visit we just come on birthdays … but that might change.

First visit and was impressed with the riverside venue! Good atmosphere. Menu good variety and choice with good price point especially the wines.. Nice surroundings. Would go again

We had a lovely long lunch here with our granddaughter and her young man last Saturday. The food was tasty and reasonably priced: the staff were friendly and attentive. We could talk quietly although the pub was quite busy. Thank you!

We all came here for a celebration of our anniversaries, however we were very disappointed, the food was cold ,the 'roast potatoes ' were frozen as were the vegetables ,the catering for different needs was poor ,no orange juice?on a busy Sunday is bad planning and to be told that they would have some with the next delivery in the week ,doesn't really cut it when it was wanted with the meal ,also no diet or sugar free beverages for our diabetic company ,and to have to have chips with a roast dinner because the frozen roast potatoes have garlic on them is very poor ,one of our group was intolerant to garlic and it would of made them very poorly, to say we were disappointed is an understatement and I don't think we will be returning in a hurry

Great setting by the Thames and Sandford Lock. Pub food ordered at the bar and served to numbered table pretty quickly considering how busy they were on a lovely summer's day. Free parking for patrons but remember to key in your registration!

Be aware that there is a new parking system. The system is a bit unusual (you have to put your details into an iPad in the pub) to prevent people using it the car park who are not using the pub. I got caught out by this as it was not explained to me by the staff, and it cost me a £60 fine. Otherwise this is a nice pub with friendly staff in a good location, but the parking thing is not great. (CORRECTION from original review, thank you for clarifying).

Nice place, great location, poor service. I don't see why serving a bowl of chips to three underage kids - one of whom is severely disabled - should be an issue. Then again, it is probably me.

I had the Vegetarian Wellington Sunday Roast & it was pretty good. Good roasties and veg, just wish there was more gravy🤷🏻‍♀️

On arrival we were greeted by the Manager who showed us to the table. I had booked for 1 o’clock. We ordered drinks and breads and dips to start. Mains were Burger and Smothered Chicken. Food was delicious. The Manager and his wife are lovely as are all the staff. We will be booking a table again with family for a pre- Christmas lunch. Highly Recommend.

Came in for a drink, met with a lovely welcoming lady Becky, who served me. Had a couple of drinks and fancied something light to eat. Picked the Apple glazed pork belly of the chef’s special menu, well what came was amazing fitting for the Ivy, lovely presentation, great combination of food, thoroughly enjoyed recommend anyone to have and try it. Beautiful ancient pub. Sprawling gardens with wide ranging views of the whole lock area and a good portion of the River Thames. Lovely relaxed vibe. We were touring and this was the first place we visited and it left a great impression.
