Landlady is extremely rude. Felt so unwelcome, depressed. Finished my drink and left. Landlady was so rude. I’m giving her my own money! Will never EVER come back here again. If 0 stars was an option I would’ve chosen that.

As a local, we have regularly visited The Queens for drinks and food and perhaps because of that we’re remiss in providing reviews! However, now making amends following one of the best meals out we’ve had in ages! I am a Steak fiend! And I’m terrible at cooking it myself, so always order it when out. It’s a dodgy affair as unfortunately not many chefs do it justice. But my oh my Tash truly does. Rump steak cooked to perfection (not a mean feat for a customer who enjoys a blue fillet!). Served with the tastiest toms and mushrooms and beautifully crispy chips by the brilliant staff who always have a smile and are so attentive. And all in lovely old world pub with original features. We are so lucky to have Tash, Stu and the team at the end of our road, but would drive miles for food like that. Excellent in every way!👍👌😃

Ordered a chicken roast! Chicken was lovely! Yorkshire pud was delisous!! ..2 very small baked potatoes! 5 runner beans and 2 slices of carrots!! £14.50!! ...please add a few more vegetables!

We had Sunday lunch but the food was poor, didn't have all the roasts ,potatoes were not roasted !! and only three small New potato size on plate that were meant to be roasted, puddings were ok but I wish that there old dog wasn't roaming around the eating areas not a good experience

I visited this evening on my own as I am staying locally for a show near Reading. I had my young spaniel with me who thoroughly enjoyed the attention! I had the gnocchi which was hot, fresh and absolutely delicious. The staff are really lovely even though they were obviously busy. The vibe is great and I felt incredibly welcome which was appreciated as I was dining on my own. I found everything very clean and tidy too. Thank you! If I am ever in the area again, I will definitely come back.

Have long time not been there google. Not my first choice of pub ......

After reading reviews in their own website we were looking forward to a meal. However, we decided to share a Camembert and flat bread as we weren’t particular hungry. £12. Waited probably 15 minutes. It turned up in a hot dish stone cold. It didn’t smell great. I took the meal back which was heated up within 3 minutes or so. Pieces of bread were slaughtered! Looking around the garden we noticed quite a few piles of dog poo. I couldn’t eat at all. The beer wasn’t great either. Never go there again.

Full disclosure, I grew up in Crowmarsh, so the Queens is a pub very close to my heart! I went again recently with my family and had a fantastic time. Great ambiance, friendly staff, lovely beer and the food is excellent and unbelievably good value- highly recommended.

Just moved to the crowmarsh Gifford area nice country pub but needs some sports TV in the bar to attract more regular customers at weekends in particular.

Had a meal at the Queen's Head tonight for the first time and have to say the food is totally delicious. Love their menu, it's different to the norm and the landlady bends over backwards to make sure your meal is exactly how you want it and cater to any food allergies etc. Lovely atmosphere, so glad we gave them a try as usually tend to go into town. Will definitely visit again.

Closes at 6PM on a Sunday in July, what's that all about?

Booked this place for a meal arrived not impressed selection of soft drinks for my daughter and myself .they produced a can each plonked on a tray with 2 glasses .expensive .we read the menu .was not good .service sloppy and non caring .when the waitress came we said we had changed our minds about eating there and promptly left .

We took friends to this pub after booking it tge week before. Firstly on booking we asked if they did cauliflower cheese with their roast dinner and they said yes. There was no cauliflower cheese! But the worst thing was the quality of the meat! The shoulder of lamb was tough and had clearly been cooked too quickly and the beef was not good either! Will not be returning.

So wonderful to be able to eat out again after the restrictions brought about by Covid. The food, drink and service was excellent with the staff observing necessary precautions.

Fabulous food at very competitive prices. An excellent chef behind the scenes. A good selection of beers etc so a well kept cellar. All staff were very friendly and efficient. Covid rules were strictly adhered to and everywhere was spotless. Wish we’d found this pub to eat in on our first night of a 3 night stay in the area....not the final night.

We love coming to this pub for Sunday lunch. Relaxed owner Tash is attentive and looks after her customers, the garden area has been expanded with several covered table options. Great chef knows how to cook and generous portions.

We were looking for somewhere to meet my parents for lunch and decided on the Queens Head. Tables were clean and covid safe and they have arranged a marquee and separate covered area just in case of rain! We ordered 2 portions of fish and chips (probably the best pub fish and chips I've ever had!) and 2 burgers which I'm told were out of this world! Food was hot and fresh and large portions! Good selection of drinks on tap. Staff very friendly and we couldn't fault the service. We also love the gorgeous pub dogs! Definitely pay a visit, you won't be disappointed!

Went for lunch with my family a few weekends ago. Great menu, lots of variety and they seemed to cater for vegans/vegetarians which is much welcomed. The pub itself is very cosy and friendly. Staff are super lovely and couldn't have been more helpful. I had fish and chips which were to die for, very tasty. They have lots of dogs there which makes it's 100% better than a lot of pubs especially if you're a dog person and want to take your own. Quite spacious inside, staff are wearing masks and they appear to be doing all the right things due to the current world circumstances. Really recommend this place and would happily revisit soon.

I wasn’t expecting a great deal, probably unfairly, but I was proved wrong. Perhaps the best pub Sunday lunch I’ve had. The vegetarian option was superb and all of the meat eaters raved about their food. Very reasonably priced, excellent desserts and lovely warm service. I’ve marked it down a little as the ambience of the place was a little stark bu5 that was nothing compared to the food. Go, you won’t regret it!

When restaurant’s were allowed to open again, me and my friends said we needed to back here as our first meal out. I’ve never been to the Queens Head and not had great service, amazing food and been in aw of the cute dogs that parade the pub. Nothing was too much trouble for the manager who did everything she could to make our meal nice. The staff in the pub were all very pleasant and welcoming, which makes it a great place for a catch up with friends. The quality of food and the price you pay is very reasonable and drinks are fairly priced for a pub in Oxford. Would definitely recommend a visit, a unique find.

Cannot praise this place enough - Lovely little pub with super friendly landlady and staff. We always pay a visit to the Queens Head when visiting a friend in Wallingford. Both drinks and food are reasonably priced, the burgers and mozzarella dippers are to die for! Always raving to everyone how good the food is here, Definitely worth a visit!

Really chuffed with my delicious socially distanced take-away, this is the second time I have ordered from the menu and it’s frequently updated with varied dishes, the service is really quick and friendly and I look forward to my next take-away treat!

Nice atmosphere, good basic food , nice quantity. Fries were slightly undercooked but the very rich sticky toffee pudding with custardadebip for it. Be warned though, they will not drive you have for an afternoon nap once you are stuffed.

On a winters day we enjoyed tasty sage scented sausage and mash, and steak pie with mash and broccoli accompanied by London Pride bitter. The food was comforting. The service warm and friendly. The building full of atmosphere. Very enjoyable.

Decent old Fullers pub, cosy with a proper fire, nice atmosphere, kid friendly, two pub dogs roaming around which was good, didn't eat so can't comment on the food.

What a fantastic Sunday lunch. Enormous portions, I had pork my hubbie had roast beef both cooked to perfection. Terrific service from everyone.

If you are looking for a historic old English pub with great food and a warm welcome then the queen's pub will not disappoint. Warm olives and feta to start and steak pies for mains.... Lovely. The desserts were delicious..... Will definitely come back again. 700 years of history and great to see the pub still going strong. Well done to chef too.

Smart village pub good beer and food.

Great independant pub, food was really good and we played scrabble whilst we were there. All the team were friendly, a lovely pub to have Sunday Roast at.

Love this place, very “olde worlde” and quaint, nice pub food with great deals like burger night. We go to the quiz night in Mondays which is hilarious and fun, Stuart the landlord and his very hardworking wife make it really really good. Recommend this place for a weeknight outing!

It was Saturday so two beautiful rump steaks with free side salad plus skin on chips for £25 and really good haddock abd chips. Friendly welcome and good beer.

I lived inC G foir several years and used to have a few pints in there,particularly on a Saturday. The landlord and his wife were delightful people .....good to see it is still going

Good food, wide choice of ales, friendly service, easy parking.

Drinks expensive and prawn salad contained one prawn - the rest were very tiny shrimps (and shrimps are already tiny)! Drowned in salad dressing. Did not enjoy!

Lovely staff,very kind to our dog in the garden. Plenty of outside seating. On way to work at a nearby show and found this place for lunch. Really nice ploughman’s and a nice salad. Side portion of fries were tasty.

This pub has a good atmosphere, the staff are very friendly and it has plenty of olde world charm. The food was not good, sadly, when we visited. I had slow cooked lamb that was like eating a shoe, and was swimming in a deadly dark fatty sauce. It makes me feel quite queasy just thinking about it. I love slow cooked meat, which should be tender and melt in your mouth, but this was unfortunately the opposite. My eating companion had a veggie burger which was pretty uninspired and came with dreary undercooked chips. It's a shame as it has so much potential, and maybe we just went on a bad day as others rate the place highly.

Super pub with a nostalgic old school feel! Owners couldn't do enough to look after our party even doing food on a closed kitchen night. Food was very good and we all left with full bellies. We'll definitely be going back.

On the day we visited it was a cold, wet and windy one, so the warm welcome went a long way. The decor is more 1980's pub and quite comfortable. They have a good range of real ale beers and do a very acceptable pub style menu. The food arrived well presented and nicely cooked. There is also a good sized carpark and toilets are clean and well maintained.

Had lunch here while walking the Ridgeway. Food was very good, as were the coffee and service. All reasonably priced

We will return to have another meal when the regular chef is in the kitchen!

Oh dear. We should have been suspicious when we were the only people in the restaurant, but we thought well, maybe it’s just early. Very helpful waiting staff but we had to take the initiative in asking for table water, clean knife, clean wine glass (it was not just smeary but had a streak of something down the side). We had three different roasts and they were all poor. The meat was nearly cold, the parsnips were hard, and the outside of the potatoes was hard too. It was all very tasteless - so much for the lamb being ‘maple and orange’, it was just grey and bland. On the positive side the potatoes were hot, but I can’t believe I am so desperate to find something positive that I have to say that! We left most of it and to her credit the manager didn’t charge us. So there’s a positive, but so much for an enjoyable Sunday lunch out.

Delayed flights, two + hours in traffic, so a good meal and a couple of pints was in order. Service exceptional, as always, food just the ticket and well looked after cellar. What more could you ask for after a long day travelling???

Had been out and busy all day and just wanted something to eat. Had the whole baked Camembert, some meatballs and fries. Just the job. Service is friendly and attentive and food was great. A proper English pub with a great atmosphere. We’ll be back.

Booked ahead for lunch as my husband has a strict medical diet. On arrival the proprietor/chef politely enquiried what foods would be suitable and how they should be cooked. Very reassuring. Bar staff/waitress very courteous and obliging. This pub is very rustic but looks aren’t everything. We will come again. This pub also has quiz nights, board competitions and is trying really hard to make a mark.

Great Pub doing excellent food ... The staff are friendly & inviting

We met for a Saturday lunchtime birthday meal. Not an extensive menu but options to suit everyone including sandwiches and baguettes. The starters were very well presented and reasonably priced. For the mains, three of us opted for the half chicken which came with grilled sweet potato and salad which was very well cooked and so much meat that I was unable to finish mine. Only a small selection of desserts but I opted for a coffee as I couldn't eat anything else although the coffee came with a small piece of chocolate brownie which was delicious. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and we will definitely go there again.
