Massively let down by the kebab I just ordered. Lack of salad, asked for extra sauce and he drowned it in cheap chilli sauce - money wasted.

Ordered savlouy and chips and jumbo sausage got home to find jumbo sausage was missing

It's gone down hill really disappointing. Had sausage in batter and chips last week the batter was so hard you couldn't eat it chips where brown and soggy! Gave it another try got a mixed kebab on chips and a mixed kebab normal the donner meat was burnt the chicken burnt and had bone in. And been on the toilet for two days! It's a shame won't be ordering again

Always great customer service. Happy, helpful people. I pointed out a pricing error on their website and it was fixed instantly. Food is always fresh and tasty. Never had a bad meal. Even my small fish was the equivalent of some others' large!

Used to have the best cod and chips. Now totally rubbish, very few chips in large fish and chips, greasy thick batter, really disgusting .

Weird kebab, very thick meat, also seemed to have small bones in it?? Average chips, not great.

BAD!!! What the hell is going on here with the quality of food ??? It's gone down to ZERO...Just over 1 year ago, I had my very first 'Da Boss Burger' here. It was 'Absolutely Fantastic'. I had my very last one here Friday night, 14th June 2024. First, it was missing 1 Burger, should have had 2. Second, hard Tomato and Crap Lettuce, totally Not Good! Chips as well not good, like they were from hours ago! WHY. So sad to see a once excellent business change to a Crap Business...This is how and why they Close, Permanently.

I travel past a more local chip shop to the village plaice for the superior quality and friendly staff it’s worth the extra mileage I’m fussy about my food They have a vast menu which is rare to find in a small village today . Excellent 👍👍

Very disappointed was excited to try this place for the first time. Checked online that it was open. Arrived at 5.50pm. Got a toddler and baby out of the car. Walked there and the sign on the door also said open. However, the lights were off and it was not open. Will not attempt to come again and not reliable and can’t do with that with two babies!

Seemed like prices had gone up quite a lot... £10 for medium cod and chips.

THE VILLAGE PLAICE IN ASHLAND, MILTON KEYNES is the Best Chippy we have found in MK! Once again we ordered for the Central MK W.I Birthday Party and the order was checked, confirmed and ready for collection at exactly the right time. Excellent service and delicious food. Highly recommended.

Fish was lovely but the chips weren't the best

My favourite fish and chip shop! Myself and my family prefer this over the one we have local to us, better food, better prices and more options to choose from. Would recommend 👌 My sons love the Southern fried chicken, generous size portions too!

The food we had was very nice, i had Cod and chips and couldn't fault the food. The issue we had was that what we got wasn't what we had ordered, luckily this was only relating to some of the sides that was ordered and not the main items but the staff did seem a little distracted at times.

Terrible food dry fish soggy chips

I only got burgers from them and they are spot on.Nothing wow but fresh simple burgers.But for the price is very good.

Only wanted chips took 15 plus minutes to get them and not good hard looked like just reheated them

This is a great local fish and chip shop.. Fresh food. Love the chicken kebab..Friendly staff.. great value for money... considering the prices of everything going up.. they seem to have tried to keep their prices reasonable compared to other take aways.. their milkshake are just the best and a must try!!! will be going back for sure and definitely recommend..

First time visit to get a fish supper so I could compare with the chippy in my local town. Told after I'd placed the order that it was cash only - but there's zero mention of this on either the website, their Facebook page or here in this Google listing. As in these post-pandemic times I seldom carry cash, so I therefore had to traipse to the Co-Op supermarlet down the road and withdraw cash from the machine in the store, before returning to the chippy to complete the order. Got the food home within 5 minutes, and whilst the chips, the peas and the curry sauce was lovely the fish was a letdown. The fish itself was cooked perfectly but the batter was slimy and not at all crispy as I'd expected. So it's three stars from me - two deducted on account of the 'cash only' saga and the sub-par fish.

I had fish and chips tonight, and it was delicious. Friendly staff too, will definitely go back.

Honestly not a bad fish and chip shop, fish was a little bit rubbery and the batter was falling off but other than that really good. Chips are solid.

We have had fish & chips numerous times from the village plaice but we have just had a very disappointing take away all over cooked dry fish and probably not one proper chip to be had cod & chips x 2 £ 22.50 expect better for that money

A lovely small village the fish was cooked as you ordered tasted good but the batter could have been a little lighter but that's my own opinion

This is the best fish that I have had from a fish and chip shop, even from my local which is down here in Somerset. Used to live locally but moved, would happily move back just for the fish, batter was so light unbelievable. Looking forward to visiting again.

Fantastic service always from Village Plaice especially from Elvio (sorry if spelt incorrectly) food has always been great aswell as friendly and respectful service. We are in temp accommodation and still amazing service.

I frequently order food from here. I'm in Long Wittenham. The food is always hot and freshly cooked. Very generous portions, that it gives me two meals. "Regularly get order wrong, with something missing. The large number of staff serving seems to cause confusion. I've seen it happen to other customers too, one had to come back several times."......3 years later and still getting orders wrong! Quite unbelievable really. Chips are tasteless and dry. Won't be going here again.

Had a few deliveries from here through UberEats. Have found it quite good.. tasty and generous portions. Tonight the chips were missing on delivery, which is inconvenient! But they did bring some out. Also, there’s burgers in the menu but not on Uber… really need to add them in!!

Fish and chips good but very slow service.

Had fish and chips last week.The fish was hard so I’m guessing it had been warmed up.The chips weren’t much better neither.this isn’t the 1st time we have used them but it will definitely be the last.The 1st time they were delivered during lockdown in 2020,they were fine,but then the next time they were disguising and I didnt even get any change back.Let’s hope the new fish & chip shop in Berinsfield will be better once it opens in September.

Fish & chips are ok but tried them twice recently & both times the chips weren’t great; a lot of dry little bits. My daughter had a milkshake & there were several plastic bits in it where some of the Kinder Bueno packet obviously got blended too...could be very dangerous if a young child had that!

This was the first time we have used this chip shop, the food was cooked perfectly to order and tasted good. We will be using The Village Plaice again a lot. The staff were polite and helpful.

I live in Wallingford, and given that the choices for this type of food is to collect from town, or wait ages for something tepid to arrive that takes so long it feel like it has come from the US we decide to try this. Great friendly service from order taking to delivery, really well priced, great quality food, great portions, delivered quickly. What more can you be looking for. I'll go nowhere else for this type of food and I suggest that once tried others will feel the same. I'm looking forward to the next time I order from here already.

Fantastic customer service both on the phone and delivery! Food is fantastic. We live in wallingford and order from Benson because this is so much better! We have ordered plenty of times and the satisfaction hasn't depleted at all. Thank you village plaice for providing great food and also great friendly customer service.

I ordered one large place, small portion of chips, mushy peas and onion rings. I paid £5 extra as I live in Long Wittenham. The food arrived and was delicious. The plaice was huge. I shared some of my half of the fish with my cat (minus batter). Saved some chips too. Next day, I grilled the remaining fish and chips. Enjoyed again.😋😺 I will definitely be ordering from here again. Highly recommend. Thanks guys.😎

Hi went there this afternoon my first time into that shop order fried chicken and wings the first impression was costumer service with high standards compare with other places like other shoppings when costumer assistants they forgot how to welcome people or being polite the girl who I placed order was amazing nice and polite also very helpful went home trust me there is nothing left from food very delicious welldone guys be back again keep up with good job thanks to everyone .

I ordered a regular fish and chips with mushy peas and curry sauce When I saw the fish its had small black dots all throughout the batter and the fish itself. After throwing the fish away I had the chips with peas and the chips were very hard and the sauce was time cold. I felt very I'll after consuming so had to throw what was left out. A waste of £15

Just had cod and chips and saveloy & pie and chips, the food was barely warm, the fish batter was hard possibly re-fried. I was told the chips had just been cooked but were just warm and I only live two minutes away. Paid £18.50 for the pleasure of putting most in the bin will not be using them again.

This restaurant has gone down hill since change of ownership, I ordered 2 chicken curry and chips at £5.50 each, 1 curry roll at £2 and a can of drink at £1.20, total £14.20, you get 10% discount for collection so I'll leave you to work out how I had to pay £14.70. More than the order cost without the discount. Very dodgy.

Gone way down hill with new management that started mid October. 2 meals on the trot ruined due to terrible frazzled, overcooked, stale and rubbery chips. Literally inedible. If I hadn’t had a beer they would have gone straight back. The first time I gave benefit of doubt but two - these guys had one job.....it’s a chip shop !

Omg what has happened to the once lovely fish and chip shop in Bemson. Just orderd a take away 2 hours later it arrived after calling them to find out how much longer i'll have to wait. Lady said sorry were busy. At last it arrived to be cold and disgusting. We have used them for years and have never had this before. Phoned to talk to the manager well what a waste of time that was. He said he would call me back surprise surprise he never did call back. What a waste of money went straight in the bin. Won't be using them again.

I often visit The Village Plaice and have never been disappointed. Very good value for money and very fresh fish. I am a Northerner and love my fish so I reckon I take a lot of satisfying. We eat in and the service is good and staff very friendly. Batter is cooked perfectly for me and they do a good builders tea.

But don't go very often as portions are huge and too much for me to eat. Not expensive but would prefer if thes fish and chip shops would allow customers to buy two fish with one portion of chips as so much is wasted.

The food here is no different from any local chippy so quite surprised that it is the most expensive fish and chip shop we've ever been to.

Called last night for a take away supper for one quite busy. Ordered haddock small chips and peas. Usually they are good but last night the haddock was overcooked and the chips were not hot but were small and soggy. Shows that even good places can let there standards drop.

I've reviewed this "plaice" before and found it generally good but hit and miss. Gone seriously downhill since then. 45 min wait for a single portion of chips is not acceptable . Won't be back

Ordered and payed for large cod, received medium, cold fish, lukewarm chips, I've had 6 takeaways from this "plaice" and it's the same story everytime, even had one where the batter was raw underneath.

ive eaten here a few times, fish is really good portions are big, lunchtime specials could almost feed 2 people for £3

Every Time I've gone in I've ordered different things and sometimes big orders for the family and sometimes just mine. It's always very busy and the food is really yummy. Very reasonably priced to!

Have been regular customers for years,but after the food and delivery getting worse and worse and more expensive and finally tonight being abused by the manager will never again be using....waited 2 hours before finally getting food,which had been mixed up with another order(not the 1st time either)..then told new order wouldn't be able to have chicken as there wasn't any left..really!!,when finally arrived and husband phoned to get some discount,we were told by the manager Joe"don't bother ordering from us again"!!!

Después de un folleto publicitario de su servicio de entrega dejó la puerta pensamos intentarlo. No nos quedamos impresionados. Más de una hora entre hacer el pedido y la entrega, y al principio nos dieron el orden equivocado causando demora. Cuando finalmente nos dieron una comida las patatas fritas y aros de cebolla era pasada y las hamburguesas eran mediocres en el mejor de los casos. Iremos con inteligencia en Wallingford a partir de ahora, creo.

Éramos 7 de nosotros en nuestro grupo. Entre nosotros teníamos eglefino, pizza, hamburguesa, kebab y tuve la pieza más fantásticas de solla perfectamente cocinada. Las patatas fritas eran también cocinado a la perfección. El personal era muy amable y la comida era traído a nuestra mesa muy rápidamente, a pesar de que era una noche de sábado muy concurrida. Llevamos nuestro propio vino con nosotros, que decía el folleto que podíamos hacer y un buenas tardes pasamos todos nosotros.

The best Fish and Chips in the area! Everything is cooked to order so no soggy batter. You may have to wait a few minutes but well worth it! They have also introduced loyalty cards, so good value.

I have the cod at this place that also serves a lot of other food. The cod is slightly battered just as I like it. The great thing is that you can also sit down, but there is no alcohol.

A very friendly place to eat at reasonable prices. It has a very good selection of foods which should cater for all needs. It also has special offers during the mid week.

Visited for lunch, had a lunch special of small cod and chips for £3. Both freshly cooked, so had to wait a little but we're absolutely lovely - especially for the price!

Después que quieran pescado y patatas fritas en varios domingos y no para ellos ya que están cerrados domingo's, fuimos un sábado cuando nos visite para ahorrar cocinar. Buen pescado y papas fritas y de calidad a un precio razonable. El personal es amable y el pescado fresco a la orden. Volveremos otra vez. Parece que la mayoría quiere tomar domingos, así que si deciden abre los domingos que estaríamos mucho más regular.

Chips were covered in little black bits which would suggest the oil needs changing, the batter on the haddock looked as if it was coated in a factory not freshly done. Will not be returning😷

We have used the indoor seating area a couple of times recently and have enjoyed excellent fish and chips. Each time has been early evening and they have been very busy, a good through put of customers is a good sign they are getting it right.

Third time in two weeks I have been in this very clean, very welcoming, excellent attentive service little restaurant! The owner presents perfect fish n chips etc in such an enthusiastic way, he really wants you to enjoy his food and we certainly do! The fish is white and fresh and chips very edible! My definition of good fish n chips is when your left with a clean plate afterwards, not a pile of discarded batter and gum stabber chips left on the side!! 10/10.

A fast food set up with tables inside and out if you are lucky with the weather. They are offering a great very selection of fish with good chips plus pizza, burgers and kebabs etc.Very willing staff greet you and sort out your food as quickly as they can. However, when it gets busy at the weekends, the service can be a bit slow as all is cooked fresh to order. The answer could be a swift pint in The Crown opposite. Worth a try.
