Bell Crowmarsh in South Oxfordshire

Revisited the Bell again today, now several times since January, and the food, service and atmosphere continue at 5 Stars. Looked after today, by Richard, Jade, Maria and Dominica. Simply a pleasure lunching here. Thank you. Revisited the Bell again, now in 2024. My previous comments still apply, now to include Steven in the list of Staff names. Looking forward to visiting again as soon as possible. Many thanks. Michael. Just to say have now revisited The Bell, and 5 Stars continued with Maria and Maddie looking after us this time. Have booked again for December. This was our first visit to " The Bell ", having been recommended by a close relative. 3 of us enjoyed a " Senior " Menu, of 3 courses. Delicious Food, at an amazing value of price. Thankyou to all of the Kitchen Staff, and also to Richard (Landlord ) Sam and Jade, for the warm welcome, and friendly, courteous service. Not very good quality off food quick and easy

We come here near every Saturday, today the steaks where fantastic, I would of rated this visit a 5 star, but the side door by table 29 was so annoying by people coming in and out it was closing so loudly and shaking our table making us jump every minute or so

Duck or Grouse, I learnt to duck the hard way 🤣 beautiful old pub so traditional low ceilings so watch your head if you're tall like me and forget to duck Beautiful location, great ale that was well kept. Lovely food and atmosphere. Well worth a visit ❤️

Utterly utterly superb. Honestly, if all Greene King were like this they would really be world leaders! We went quite early, just about 6pm and were just looking for something to eat, no expectations. After a very warm welcome things went from good to excellent. Halloumi fries, then rump steaks with peppercorn sauce finishing with fruit crumble. Every bite, really truly, was excellent. Hot tasty and generous, AND, staff top notch. What a team. Thank you. Believe me, go there.

This is a really nice pub. It has a lovely cosy atmosphere and a good choice of wines and beers. The food menu has a range of dishes to choose from, the prices are very reasonable and the food is excellent.

I booked a table arrived in time as we thought to have a drink and then sit and enjoy our food, was gob smacked at being told we were 15min early and couldn't order drinks till we were seated at our table, really, what is going on green king what away to treat people, shall think twice about going back there.

Once again great all over. Great pub food, really nice staff and good beers. We came 4 months ago and everything was as good as last time. Great fries, really nice burger and good value for money. Our 3 kids loved it too

Family late lunch with a friend. Unlike our last visit, this was our first choice. Food was excellent, Service was great (and discreet). Once again thoroughly enjoyed by all present (4 of us). See you again soon.

A lovely old pub which has been modernised sympathetically. Staff were friendly . Prices were average for the area. Would i return? Definitely!

The building decor had a recent renovation and looks great. There is low headroom around the bar area so you might have a different experience if you're above average height. We had a business meal for a group of 3. The food was amazing, good service and excellent value for money. I ordered the Salmon Vintage Cheddar Fishcakes and my colleagues ordered the Katsu Chicken and King Prawn Chorizo Risotto. Will definately stop by again this week while we are here.

We were staying at Benson Waterfront for a few days over new year and fancied some 'pub grub'. I found this lovely pub with parking quickly online then we headed out. This is the nicests greene king we've ever been to! Food was absolutely lovely, not greasy at all. Great service and lovely atmosphere. Love menu, would recommend to everybody!

Excellent meal, I had the Lamb Shank, my partner had roast Turkey, we both enjoyed the meal. Very economical combined with great service from friendly staff.

Lovely food, we're vegan it's a shame they only had a couple or three options. The staff are friendly and the service was good.

Had a lovely rump steak here, which was the first steak I'd had in quite a while. It was cooked just to my liking. Steak night is Thursday here. Unfortunately they wouldn't accept my Greene King paper card for every sixth pint of Greene King ale free, but this is a minor point and no reflection on the food or venue itself.

Stopped for a coffee in the morning. Friendly, good service, good coffee. Clean establishment.

Can’t fault it the food was outstanding best meal we’ve had out in years

We’re staying locally for the week from South Wales and we thought we’d pop by this establishment, the pub is beautiful inside and out, ample free parking, lovely outdoor seating area and the inside is beautifully kept, it’s clean and modern. Great drink selection too! Food was nice and good value for money, my steak was a little tough although the gentleman did offer a replacement if required. Overall lovely service, the manager/owner was on his toes, here, there and everywhere! And provided a great service! We’d certainly return next time we’re in the area :) thanks for having us!

Had a really good time at the bell - the server Steven was really lovely and helpful especially when it came to splitting the bill. Food was also really nice with good service times despite being busy :)

Had the Sunday roast, pigs in blankets were not fresh, parsnips hard, cauliflower cheese tasted stale. Roast potatoes needed more roasting. Would not have Sunday lunch there again

Was really impressed by our visit to the Bell this evening. We’d been told good things and it didn’t disappoint. The staff were all fantastic especially James who went the extra mile for our family. Kids meals went down a treat and my husband said his burger was the best one he has had in the UK (a big compliment from a French man 😂). Kids were kept busy with crayons, word searches and stickers.

I will start by saying that on Saturday the 21st October it was the very first time I went to The Bell in Crowmarsh and I was not at all disappointed as a matter of fact, the whole experience was absolutely outstanding indeed. But it was not just the cleanliness and the atmosphere that was outstanding but the entire staff too ranging from management to anyone else who was working there at the time were all fantastic indeed and not only that but they are absolutely tremendous throughout the entire service. If anyone has any doubts about going to the Bell, don't because I promise everyone, they are in for a treat and that is the truth but the food is also outstanding too and of course worth the wait. So, hats off to Jade and everyone else at the Bell because that was the best service as well as the meal both me and my wife's family have had in years. But I'm gutted I cannot add any more stars on the review.

I was impressed that they offered a gluten free menu, but I had to wait 15 minutes for it. I ordered a gf Hunters Chicken with mashed potato. Very friendly staff and the food arrived very quickly, but it was very poor quality unfortunately!! 1 very small breast of chicken wrapped in burnt bacon, and the mash potato was rubbery !! Very disappointing!

We had a large group for a meal and the pub handled it well. Staff helpful.

We were there Monday lunch time so it wasn't really busy but the food was very nice and good value and the staff were very efficient.

We came upon this pub after a trip to Wallingford on the way back to Surrey ,what a great place . Good parking excellent service and the food was excellent piping hot . Lovely pleasant staff. Wish we lived nearer!

Just had lunch in this pub garden. Food was delicious and very reasonably priced. It is Dod friendly! Has a child play area, plenty of parking and the decor inside is very nice. The service second to none and the toilets immaculate! Definitely a place to visit wo in Oxfordshire

My second visit here after a so-so experience half a year ago. Was quite busy with diners but managed to get seated. We went for the Thursday steak deal and was pleased by the food at a very good price!

Fantastic experience, the bell has had an amazing refit since I was last there when it was the hungry horse, the menu was great with plenty of options for vegetarians, we had fab main courses and treated ourselves to a pudding which was delicious and the atmosphere and staff were lovely to, all of which made it a very enjoyable happy afternoon and we will definitely be visiting again, thank you team 🙂

All-around amazing! I have 4 children, and they catered for us all. I didn't feel embarrassed that my 5 years were kicking off. They simply smiled and asked if they could get us anything else. It was a great pub to take the family, especially a young family

It's an ok chain pub. Food was good but nothing to write home about (we had steak & ale pie). It did not agree with my partner but I don't think it was "spoiled" per se - just if you have a sensitive tummy, this place might not be for you. Staff were very friendly and polite, food came quickly.

Absolutely fabulous visit here this week, beautiful pub, not been in a pub this clean and smart for years…food is hot and tasty, neck oil is cold and the service from the team was first class! Staying in the area for a while so will definitely return!

Ahh the bell end, good pub to stop in for a drink the food isn't to shabby but I'd recommend having a couple drinks first put it like that. Having said that I've been coming here since I was 18 it was quite a dive pre covid but its since been re moddled and feels alot more modern but if you know this pub it just looks different the atmosphere is still the same, same old faces in there. But on the whole if you want a local watering hole this is a very good choice, they have a big beer garden as well and a play area for kids

2nd time visiting, 1st time at lunchtime with 2 friends ordered sandwiches, no bread. OK soup , soup off as no bread . 2nd visit today pub virtually empty, 4 adults and 4 kids, sorry don't have a table for 8. Can we sit in the garden yes but please don't take the menus outside. Food arrived but missing one adults order. Not impressed. Won't be visiting a 3rd time.

Not been in the Bell for many years. Pleasantly surprised, only popped in as I was passing for a cold drink.

Second visit, lovely food and service again. 100% would recommend. Lola especially and a young man in glasses (sorry didn't catch his name!) were wonderful hosts. The Summer Strawberry Spritz and Summer cocktail were perfectly refreshing. The chicken things were juicy and paired well with the sauce. The salmon was well cooked. The Eton Mess was sweet and the ice dream was delicious. Looking forward to going back again!

After having a lovely evening meal with nine people on Tuesday, went back for morning coffee and cake at 11.30 as advertised on the wall only to find they did not do that anymore and pub doesn't open to 12 noon. WHY ADVERTISE IF IT...

I went with my friend yesterday very short on staff she asked me if I wanted 2 eggs or one egg & one pineapple I said one pineapple & one egg with my gammon please so it comes with 2 eggs that very disappointed ☹️ I think the gammon was a bit under cooked a bit pink

Good pub grub as you expect. Food was lovely - and hot! Arrived quickly and was delivered by a very nice and welcoming young man to the garden. Garden was lovely, and there were bowls you could fill for the dog, which was also a nice touch.

Food was bland. Had the lamb shank , mash tasted like it had been warned up and not smooth at all. Needed more salt and to be creamery. Vegetable's were again not seasoned and hard. Lack of gravy and had to pay extra for mint sauce.

Landlady is extremely rude. Felt so unwelcome, depressed. Finished my drink and left. Landlady was so rude. I’m giving her my own money! Will never EVER come back here again.

I think we must have visited at a more quiet period - the pub was almost completely empty! Meals were on point! Absolutely happy with the quality and service - pricing isn't too ridiculous for the size of the menu options either - definitely one I'd recommend to anybody local!

Good food, great service! Pub grub as expected, ordered some starters (Korean BBQ chicken strips are amazing) and some Halloumi. Had the Sirloin steak, was cooked exactly as specified. Banana waffle was super tasty. Our waiter made the evening!

Went out for bank holiday lunch, stumbled across The Bell, there was 4 adults and 1 child, the pub was clean and warming, staff was very helpful and polite. Food came out promptly after ordering and was cooked to perfection and all plates was emptied (even the 7 year old 😂), would highly recommend if you are in area.

Nice decor, delicious food, friendly staff. I chose the pea, mint and courgette risotto with sourdough and an extra salmon topping - very tasty! Followed by caramel banana waffle for dessert - it was to die for! Will definitely return
