Service was prompt, atmosphere great, but their barrels are on too long but the staff clearly aren’t trained and don’t understand what beer should taste like. Me and a friend ordered two beers and both were disgusting. We flagged it up and the staff didn’t accept how bad they were but didn’t try them. We weren’t surprised to hear the management had changed recently. The staff have no clue about serving acceptable beer let alone good beer, if you order a Spitfire they assume it’s a lager not an ale too.

Brought my brother and a friend for dinner on Wednesday, it was so good we came again with another friend for Sunday Lunch. It did not disappoint! All our plates were clean, my friend said it was so lovely not to have to battle with tough roast beef! HUGE yorkshires, crispy roast and perfectly cooked veg! Everything was served by delightful and helpful staff, clearly a happy team. 5 stars well and truly earned!

Great venue Room was perfect Staff fantastic Food great Packed lunch as we had to leave before breakfast was a nice touch and delicious However, me and my male friends trip was tarnished by a group of local idiots First of all Shouting poofs followed by body checking my friend and Calling him out for being a thick geordie Completely unprovoked-I’m a lover not a fighter !! The bar maid handled the crowd of locals and told them to be quiet and they did pipe down eventualities-however I will Not stay here again as we are both left feeling like it was a local pub for local people Hosting a bunch a farmer boys looking for a fight And if the business owner continues to allow disruptive and abusive locals to drink there they are going to lose business -well certainly from me anyway ! Such a shame - as the girls who looked after us were great -and why should they have to put up with them either ?!

I went for Christmas afternoon tea in The Orangery at almost £60pp with my parents for a bougie little treat before Christmas. The setting was beautiful, the staff were lovely and the drinks were delicious. But the food? Well...the sandwiches were nice and they were adjusted to cover allergies we have. The cakes were yummy but I've had crackerbread with more moisture than those scones. They were overmixed, stale and no amount of double cream (no clotted cream here I'm afraid) could fix that dryness. The booking cost extra due to the choir who was to be signing carols while we ate, but that lasted maybe 5 minutes and while they were good they certainly weren't worth the £8 up charge to hear. If you don't care about what you're eating and simply going because you want to go for Afternoon Tea in a 5 star establishment then this is perfect for you. But if you'd rather spend your hard earned money on something that doesn't taste like it's been sat for three days before being served then I'd avoid here and find an alternative. Very disappointed.

Went for a Sunday dinner here in November and it was mediocre, as was the service however it was a new offering and team. We decided to give it another go yesterday and it was great, the dry aged Sirloin was absolutely amazing, Would have given a 5 but still small room for improvement, serve the gravy separately and a cauliflower cheese? My starter was lovely and the service was excellent. Booked for next week as local businesses deserve support particularly when they are offering such good food.
