We were a party of 12 booked in several days in advance. Seated on time. Order for drinks taken after about 30 mins order for starters and main courses taken after an hour. Food eventually arrived 2 hours after order. Extremely disappointed with the size of the portion of food on the plate. Rubbery meat, soggy Yorkshire, 2 small slices of carrot, 2 quarters of roast potato and 2 slices of parsnip. Yes, looked nice on the plate but, Would not class it as a dinner. Considering the cost, we all expected to get a proper full plate of dinner. Please do not eat here if you are hungry. Will not be returning.

Went for a Friday Fish & Chips lunch and to see how the new landlords were doing. Very welcoming by the landlady and our drinks were soon with us. Disappointed as they only had one real ale, Abbot. Was assured they normally have two on, but surely this should happen for the Thursday evening trade and through the weekend. As a Shareholder in a pub & CAMRA member this is the key time to win over the older real ale drinkers and keep them coming. Fish was nicely cooked although not turned regularly and hence a fat bottom of batter, otherwise very nice chips and mushy peas. Phone number incorrect being the old one, so missing a lot of possible clients. Painting still ongoing in the lounge? The new landlords seem keen to please, they obviously are not getting any support or help from Punch Pubs as all of the above are avoidable. Sad!

Went out to Abbott's Bromley and decided to call in for lunch. Beautiful starter, home made chicken goujons. Chicken was tender and juicy. Lovely little tasty side salad. Mains we both had the fish pie. So much fish. It was beautiful. Quite large so didn't manage a dessert. We were attended to very quickly by lovely Isabella. Very sweet smile, pleasant and chatty. Think Rose was cooking today.

We had a nice day until my chicken arrived which was clearly bad. All in our party agreed it smelled terrible.I I didn’t make a fuss but obviously couldn’t eat m6 meal and didnt want nothing else because I felt sick. I was not charged for my meal(which I didnt eat anything of). I wasn’t happy but I don’t like to complain, when I later saw the owner she said sorry for the experience but the other chicken that people had was o.k. but the customer is always right. How rude and condescending, I wish I had taken the piece of chicken with me and had it analysed. It had clearly slipped through the net and not been used in rotation. I have worked in catering all my life and know these things can happen but to make out as though it was my fault was very unprofessional and very rude. We shall not be going back

Had a drive out tonight as the sun was shinning, had a few beers and ended up here at the coach and horses, which was the only pub that was doing food, and that was only due to the lovely Rose who agreed to keep the kitchen open for us. My wife started with the brocholi and stilton soup with hot baguette and it was lovely We both had the bangers and mash with peas gravy and crispy onions which was superb And my wife had the apple pie and custard to finish. It isn't ALL about the food and beer when you travel 15 miles for a night out, it is also about the welcome you get from the locals and the publicans, and i must say this is one of our favourite destinations. And every pub we went in to tonight made us feel at home, and none more than here at the Coach and Horses, which even has some fantastic music playing in the background So thank you for a lovely meal, and a lovely welcome. and thank you for selling us some of your lovely home made pies to take home with us, and making us feel like nothing was too much trouble see you again soon guys and good luck

A few weeks ago myself and one of my friends went to do a little visit to Abbots Bromley to find somewhere for us all to have lunch.. We were not disappointed with our lunch that day and definately not disappointed on Sunday. We all had Sunday lunch (11 of us in total). The food was lovely and great value for money, and the ambience and staff were superb. As most of the public houses in the area are closed on a Monday evenings we searched far and wide for somewhere to have dinner. We then came across the Coach and Horses and decided to give it a try, what a great choice that was! From the moment we walked through the door the friendly landlady made us feel welcome. We had a table in the restaurant area, which was clean and well appointed with condiments. There was an extensive choice of options on the menu, including gluten free options all home made. The size of the portions was LARGE, and the home made coleslaw was definitely worth sampling!! The Red wine was also an excellent quality vintage, everything was reasonably priced and of a great quality, with friendly and prompt service. We had a lovely relaxing meal in a great atmosphere, and we will be visiting again!!

Was expecting the food to be better than it was. Plates came out cold, and our food had gone cool after a few minutes of starting to eat. One bowl of veg between 4 of us wasn't enough. Gravy was too thin and had separated. Meat was too chewy, my parents couldn't eat it all. My partners desert was mean't to be hot but came out luke warm. My dad's trifle custard was runny not thick like it should be. Service was good though and food and drinks came out quick. Decided to visit as the reviews seemed good, but not sure what happened on our visit? Really disappointed .

Went there as family of 6 and booked due to positive reviews. I have to question these reviews as our experience was a disgrace. 5 of us ordered fish and chips and photo is genuinely what we were served which would be too small for kids portions. I asked why such a small portion and was fobbed off by being told it is smaller sizes for lunch. There are smaller sizes and then there is what we got. I was considering not posting this as we all know many businesses are struggling but think it is only fair to those considering visiting here. I also don’t think anything was home cooked although perhaps cottage pie (which one of us had) was - was very bland and dry though.Pudding didn’t improve things - chocolate and lemon slices: think Mr Kipling.Price wise - it was a Monday in August so half price scheme. However I find it shameful that this was all served up, it seems without any shame. After all the government pays half. The owners should consider the effect of this service on their business.

Based on 4th July being green light for the go-ahead for restaurants to reopen we searched for a place to mark this occasion. We chose coach and horses as we have been previously. We sat and as usual were asked what drinks we wanted, which we ordered. They came promptly and I asked for food menu. They said they weren't serving meals until next Friday and was posted on social media. I was sure I'd not seen that so I went on their fb page and website which were stating they were serving pizza all day today. When I queried it, they said the pizza oven had broke and none available either. So we spent £10+ on 3 drinks which we wouldn't have done if we had known when we arrived that there would be no food. I showed member of staff social media post and she said they would remove/correct post. Upon returning home after detour to McDonald's 2hrs later it still hadn't been removed. Just disappointed that they didn't offer discount on drinks for misleading information /inconvenience and didn't follow through with what they promised as others may be fooled too.

On arrival and seated we were given plastic booklets with a very limited menu, asking about the online menu we were told it was changing and should not be there but we could ask and anything available would be cooked. We ate off the menu provided, pizza ok, curry not bad, gammon and egg not very well presented and very poor chips. They did provide half an adult veggie dish for our vegetarian baby. Apple pie was said to be well regarded but mine was poor. The Coach and Horsed has a lot going for it, location, good car park and very welcoming but they need to sort the food out and make sure what is offered on line is available.

We have not visited the Coach & Horses for many years, but today we did for Sunday Lunch. Our party was 4 adults and 2 children. The adults all had 3 courses. These included soups, pate, and prawn cocktail. We all had the roast main course, some beef, others beef and turkey. Both the beef & turkey were tasty. For dessert we chose syrup sponges and apple pie (all with custard). We were unanimous about the main courses and desserts being delicious. The children both had fish fingers with chips and beans. They are not easily pleased, but loved the food and raved-on about the chips. The staff were very helpful and provided ample vegetables and the sauces requested. These meals were not only delicious, but really great value. On request, the staff provided carrot sticks and cucumber slices for the children to eat as a starter while we ate our starters. Due to the quality and value, we were surprised that the restaurant was not more busy. We had just one disappointment......The vegetable soup was apparently watery and lacked taste. It would be great if this was remedied. However, everything else was delicious and the great value merits five stars.

I appreciate closing time is closing time but this message could have been communicated in a much more welcoming way. We decided to leave and went to the Crown which offered a much warmer welcome. The food was very poor. Now we know why the table we were allocated on a very quiet night was so dark! Veggy curry was at most to tablespoons of mushed up sweet potato and the odd chick pea. Rice was dry overcooked and both were hardly warm. No chutney no popadom or nan not worth £9.00 ! Liver and onions looked like it had been dropped on the floor and thrown back on the plate. No mash was visible peas floating about randomly in a thin swampy gravy. Pie with a concrete crust and reheated mash oh and a few peas . All almost cold unapetising and badly presented. Creme caramel was good but please, a small blob of squirty cream and a mess of some sticky sort all over the plate was not a garnish!

We went for a bit of a drive tonight because the sun was out, ended up here because it is a lovely part of the country. The welcome we got was genuine and you could tell that the owners really love what they do.The Tribute ale was superb and at £3 a pint it was a bargain, my wife had the pea and mint soup to start with, and although it was tasty and well seasoned, it was too watery and the owner said that he would pass our comments onto the chef. we both went for the pick a pie mash and pea choice for £7.50, i had the steak and stilton with chedder mash and minted peas, my wife went for the steak and kidney with creamy mash and marrowfat peas, both came with extra gravy. They were both very tasty, and good value for money, my only gripe would be that the mash was a little lumpy. I think that if they sort out these couple of little gripes then we wouldn't hesitate to revisit, because the taste and service was there but just needed a little more finesse.

We were a group of eight, three generations, ranging in age from 8 to 80. The staff were very pleasant, the service was good, the small gin selection was interesting, but the food was so disappointing. That’s why it gets the low rating. There is no possible way this is the best pub restaurant in Abbots Bromley. My wife had a gloopy vegetarian lasagne, and two of us had burgers, which we agreed were the worst we had had since school 35 years earlier.

We called here on the way to Hoar Cross Hall. The pub was very quiet and they were just closing the kitchen as we arrived but said that if we ordered straight away they would stay open which was a nice gesture. We enjoyed a quick meal which was plentiful and fresh. Staff were all polite especially as they had obviously stayed later on their shifts to accommodate us.

With a group of 22 for dinner, pre-ordering was a good idea. The staff were really friendly and accommodating. We had a great selection of food and all was served in really good timings. All the food was hot and tasty, although some portions were not that generous. The steaks weren’t served as they had been asked to be cooked, but it didn’t spoil our enjoyment, and the steak was good quality. The Fish pie looked lovely and homemade and the vegetarian curry was delicious. The mixed grill had chicken breast , but those who had it said lamb or pork chop would be better and the Gammon was the best part. The desserts were ok, looked amazing and served really well, but the ice cream was quite mediocre and they seemed bought in, still tasted nice though. An overall great service from Simon the landlord who was so friendly and extremely helpful when sorting out the bill. Massive beer garden would be great when it warms up a bit. Would definitely go back again I think a smaller group would have better chance of perfect meals.

After a chilly walk around Blithfield reservoir we were ready for our lunch on Saturday. We received a very warm and friendly welcome. The pub itself is cosy and has a relaxed atmosphere. We all couldn't resist the beef in Yorkshire pud with vegetables. It was excellent, served with cabbage, broccoli, green beans, peas, cauliflower, carrots and roast parsnip as well as mashed and roast potatoes. We'll definitely be going back!

We always visit this pub when we are in the area because we get treated so well when we visit. It has a great friendly atmosphere with friendly staff. The food is always amazing and kudos to the man who took our order on remembering all of the 7 pies that were on offer! The man who took our order - sorry don't know his name - is always friendly and funny. He makes it his business to remember who ordered what meal and then brings them out all correctly to the correct person without asking. This is a great thing to do and feels like we are special. We will always visit this place when we come to visit because of this great service we get.

We had a wonderful Sunday lunch in the Coach & Horses after we made it there in the snow on Sunday 10th December. Having left early for our snowy journey we arrived at 11.30am and were quickly invited into the pub even though they don't officially open until 12, seated near the gorgeous open fireplace and offered warm drinks. The rest of my family arrived at 12 and the vegetarians were delighted to see that they had two out of the five Sunday Roast options to choose from. It was a plentiful and tasty lunch and the desserts were delicious too, particularly the Sherry Trifles which we loved!

After a 6.5 mile walk we were so ready for our Sunday lunch. We’d booked a table and told the lovely lady we spoke to that we’d be with our little dog so we were seated in a lovely snug area by the kitchen. He website for the pub doesn’t do it justice, it is utterly charming and we received a lovely warm welcome.

Lovely pub with a welcoming feel. Food was good, well cooked and plentiful. My only personal view is that there were no 'lighter' puddings e.g. fruit based. Only puds on offer were steamed puddings, bread and butter etc, which I just did not have room for after the generous earlier courses. Would have liked a fruit salad or ice cream option. Otherwise great place.

We are visiting my wife's parents who have always lived in Uttoxeter. We come in from Canada 1 to 3 times a year for the last 20 years or so. Got tempted to visit this place for the first time by the sign/menu in the window with Breakfast served till 4pm. The food was spectacular. We have wasted good money and time on so many other places in the area that have more tourist appeal. Defiantly the beast English Breakfast hit that my wife and I have ever had in all our visits to England!

Love this place. Great selection of ales. Friendly atmosphere. Unpretentious local hub of the community. I love perusing the menu on the board and discussing options with other punters. All part of the fun. Never strangers for long

Having worked at Hoar cross hall for the last three months and visiting the Lancaster cafe every day cannot recommend this hidden gem any more than the 5 stars it has. Tina Janet and Trouble! Have looked after us no end and will help with anything on the menu. The specials are always cracking too. Enjoy. Many thanks Ian and the gang

The staff are so nice and the food is even better. I wish I could go everyday and with their prices I will probably be able too! In addition, the portion sizes are brilliant and it is suitable for everybody from young kids, to more elderly people. There is also an option to choose your own breakfast so if you are a picky eater, you can have whatever you want! Overall, I would highly recommend Saddlers, whether you want to go for breakfast or just a coffee (which were also brilliant by the way). The only negative things is that it is out the way of Uttoxeter's main town! It should be in the center because it is one of the best places in the whole town! Anyway, I would highly recommend this place and if you are going to go, make sure to bring someone else so they can also experience this delight!
