The Tutbury Fryer in East Staffordshire

These were the best fish n chips I have ever tasted, and yes I have been to Rick Steins

Sadly but definitely the ostrich and chips I have had the misfortune to purchase in the Burton upon Trent region. Sincerely hope it was a bad night and not the norm

Food is excellent had large kebab mixed very nice with chips and curry sauce very friendly staff always polite and great atmosphere in there

Just been there for a simple pie & chips absolutely disgusting!!The pie has been in the heater so long that it's all dried up and wiffey, chips thin, dried up and cold complete waste of £8.00, very dissatisfied, never going back

Wow absolutely amazing chips. Prices were good and the kabab even better. Also suprisely spicy but in a good way. Will be back for more

Lovely food, friendly staff. We had a pie & a veggie burger - the burger was one of the better ones I've had - actualy vegtable pieces in it. Lady behind the counter was very helpful with questions asked also.

It's simply beautiful. Ask for large cod to be cooked fresh. I love it. Chips are perfect and the oil doesn't upset your stomach. Its perfect and I highly recommend this chippy

Lovely food served with a smile

Went to the fish and chip shop on Saturday night on our way to Tutbury Castle for an event. We got turned away from the local pub over the road and the guy that service was fantastic had a wonderful haddock, chips and gave us extra ketchup simple so we could eat in the car absolutely gorgeous wonderful evening at Tutbury and wonderful to fish and chips definitely would recommend

Came to Tutbury for the Platinum Jubilee Beacon Lighting. Chips were hard, either left overs or had been left standing awhile. Later found out to have been overcharged by £2 as well. Nice curry sauce if that helps.....

Decent food but ordered and paid for a pineapple fritter and fritter not given with order despite being paid for.

Absolutely fantastic food and service, this is our 4th visit this year. Fish, chips and mushy peas all cooked to perfection highly recommended

Lovely chippy. The owners are very friendly, as are the staff. Good portion sizes which is a bonus! Never had a bad meal in the three years we've been coming her. Down side is they only take cash which means I have to stop at a cash machine en route.

We live locally and this is my go-to chippy. Food has always been spot on (apart from a pickled onion which I think was the last in the jar and had gone off). Good portion sizes and price. The chicken Tikka meat is delicious, as is everything we tried so far. Thoroughly recommend. Oh and the staff and owners are always really friendly.

Been to have chips to day an the chips were really hard an was not very nice at all so I am. Not that happy with it at all

Chips over cooked usually cool fish greasy curry sauce like water and tasteless

3 meals all great and chips were lovely.

Everything dry pies rock hard chips greasy

Every time I come back to Tutbury I make sure that I have at least one meal budgeted (timewise) for here. Clean and friendly and excellent fish and chips. After eating I always regret that I moved away. I wrote this review a while ago,. Due to circumstances I haven't been back for a while. It was nice to find that it hadn't changed. In difficult times you can't beat friendly faces and the ultimate comfort food.

I not long lived around local area I have been several times to this chippy it's very nice food is great and staff are very friendly. I always have shish kebab and cheese in a naan bread it's cooked perfect highly recommend. I would never eat at any other chippy

Excellent Chip shop. Firstly they fry very nice chips in fact I rate all there food as top quality. Clean, fresh and bright store with very nice friendly staff. They do the Dreaded Jawbreaker and I find this chip shop is the best I have had one from. Perfect burger buns not tearing apart or soggy as some throw at you, instead here everything is as close to perfect as you can get and I simply cannot complain about anything. What I'd do to have this chip shop near me over the horrid one I have to put up with but that's life I guess. I just make it a point to buy chips from this chip chop whenever I am in Tutbury cos I love them. Good prices and highly recommended.

Bought two code from here last night, have used them many times and always been good. However when i got home the fish, not that there was much, was surrounded by inch thick dark brown batter... i took them back and was stunned to be told thats how they cook cod now because the skin is thick and had my money, for the fish at least, practically thrown back at me. i wont be back - all they had to do was say sorry thats not right. i wouldn't have fed what they sent me away with to my dog.

Really busy so it was a pain to park, but the fish is lovely and you get a load of chips. Trust me, get a small.

We have used the Tutbury Fryer for many years as we live in the village. The fish and chips are always very good, the large fish is always very tasty. The chip portions are also generous. The fryer also does Pukka pies - the steak and ale pies are great. The fryer does all standard types of food associated with a chip shop, such as fish cakes, battered sausages, kebabs, peas, gravy and curry sauce etc. In summary this is a good fish and chip - well worth a visit.

I have had several visits now to The Tutbury Fryer, we live in another village and pass many other eating establishments just to eat the food from here that is always tasty and I have never ever been dissatisfied! Friendly staff and reasonably priced it’s now a family must having tried other places and been disappointed and everyone has then said we should have gone to Tutbury Fryer!.... anyway thank you and keep doing what you do!! It’s always worth the trip :)
