Nicest burger ('The Allotment') in YEARS! Really juicy,tasty,just the right seasoning and like me,great buns too,lol! Worth the visit,well fone guys 😋❤️

Not sure why this has so many positive reviews, as when I visited it was anything but pleasant. Slow, chaotic service (we could see table staff helping chefs prepare food in the kitchen!), made to wait for thirty minutes for a table even though we had a booking, and when the food finally arrived it was lukewarm and presented in a manner that suggested it had been hastily microwaved, then slopped on a plate. I felt bad for the staff as they seemed completely rushed off their feet, with little time to rest or make sure orders were correct. Nothing was seasoned - I've had ready meals that were tastier (and they were at least 1/5th of the prices here). The only positive part of that night was that they gave us an opened bottle of wine that wasn't even meant for us, and forgot to charge us for it!! Considering we visited before the cost of living crisis started hitting restaurants, the prices were utterly ridiculous, not at all reflected in the quality of the food. Vegans & veggie foodies, do yourselves a favour and go to Rudy's or Purezza. At least there you'll get happy servers and food that's good value for money!

Not sure what all the fuss was about. Service was average, seemed keen to finish up as it was a sunday night. Ordered the risotto, was just a bowl of tasteless stodge. Asked for a side of vegetable (which should be easy in a vegan restaurant), but was told was NOT possible. Over rated, food very average and service the same. Wont be returning.

Bit disappointed after hearing good reviews of this place. Portion sizes were tiny. Ordered the cauliflower wings which were rock hard in the middle. Saying you're getting a bowl of chunky chips when actually you're getting 4 wedges is a bit of a joke. Wouldn't begrude this at a cheap restaurant but not when it's Michelin recommended and you're paying through the nose.

Four of us (two veggies, two meat eaters, none of us vegan) visited on a busy Saturday night without a reservation and were very lucky to get a table. The service was great, the food was delicious (shout out to the cauliflower wings) and I would definitely return. Polenta fries are to die for!

Walked past Allotment and even though the doorman looked a bit intimidating, decided to take a punt and go in. Really lovely space and the staff were excellent. One of the bar staff even looked like Hollywood Beyond. I went for the Allotment lager. Delicious.

Me and my husband booked to come here whilst Visiting Manchester on a rare child free day out. We are from the Midlands so only really had the website to go on but we weren't dissapointed. The food and atmosphere were lovely and it was so nice to have some choice of what to eat which, being vegan, is not usually the case. My husband LOVED the dessert choices (he is fed up of vegan ice cream!) The staff were really friendly and we had such a good time. Would definitely visit again if we are ever in Manchester x

Arrived having pre-booked a table. There was no one to greet us and bar stuff seemed to ignore us so we sat down at a table and one of us went to the bar to order drinks. 40 minutes later we were still waiting for those drinks. When they arrived the waitress placed them on the table making clear she was unhappy we had dared to enquire about our drinks in the 40 minutes we had been waiting. If we hadn’t already ordered more drinks (knowing there was a 40 minute wait for each one!) we would have left then and there. Definitely would not recommend and we won’t be returning.

We booked here for a birthday dinner for a friend, and had the loveliest experience. Due to the heatwave, some of the equipment had failed in the kitchen and therefore the menu was reduced. While this was unfortunate, there was nothing that would be done and it didn’t diminish our visit at all. The waiting staff were friendly and attentive and explained our alternative options to us. The birthday girl is gluten free, and they made her very reassured about their competency in dietaries. They also bought her a lovely plate of chocolate strawberries for dessert as a birthday treat. The decor and feel of the place was beautiful. Finally, the Pornstar Martini was THE best all of us have ever tried. I had the mocktail version and it looked exactly the same (which I love) and tasted incredible. We will definitely be back!

Lovely staff and a really nice atmosphere. Their selection of lagers and gins is top notch. It's now our new regular, especially for Happy Hour!

Absolutely amazing food selection for plant based and gluten free/celiac. Service from staff was wonderful. Food was amazing. Couldn't recommend it enough.

We’ve been coming to the Allotment for ages (about 4 years) and it’s brilliant to see the pub thriving once again. The new outdoor area, with the umbrellas and new seating arrangements, is fantastic and the staff are always so welcoming. With all the new regulations in place for Covid, the staff couldn’t be more helpful and once again we really enjoyed both our food and drinks. We’ve recommended the Allotment previously and will happily recommend anybody to come here again. Well done to all the management and staff for getting it spot on 👍🏼👍🏼 Jimmy

Went here last year where we had a lovely lunch and I had I had the cauliflower buffalo wings with an spicy sauce. I really hope they stay on the menu when they reopen because there the best I’ve had anywhere and it’s one of those dishes that I order wherever I go.

Went for an afternoon Sunday lunch at the herd restaurant. A party of 3 served by Euan the floor manager. Service was great, friendly staff and atmosphere. Covid secure. We all had the beef roast, this has to be hands down one for the best Sunday lunch experiences in Manchester in forever. Portions were generous and the cauliflower cheese was outstanding. Probably the best part of 1000 calories but I’ve never had anything else that compares so well. The cut of the beef was a good portion and cooked well, and enough veg to satisfy. Would highly recommend and revisit. It was also my wife’s birthday they noticed and offered her a birthday shot. Probably not the most ideal thing for 12oclock lunch but it’s a nice offer nonetheless.

So I visited here on my birthday with family last Friday. Great space, socially distanced really well. Was super impressed with the friendly service. They don’t do mocktails but whipped some virgin mojitos up when we asked. We’re all meat eaters but we were impressed with the tacos, fish & chips & cauliflower wings. I can see why the fish ( made from banana flower? ) & chips is a best seller! I loved it. The mushroom starter was also banging! The dips are a little on the small size but portion sizes were filling. The best part was the blueberry cheesecake & the hazelnut brownie for dessert. Beautiful presentation and great service!

This is located in the Northern Quarter, near Piccadilly Gardens. The decoration is original, it resembles a farm. They offer a broad variety of gins, among other drinks.

My daughter and her friends booked a table for 6 last night Saturday 14 March for their friends 18th birthday. They were put into one of the vault rooms and waited half an hour before anyone came to get their drink or food order. After several requests by my daughter and friends someone finally came to take their order 15 minutes later, and were told the kitchen closes for food at 9 so they couldn’t order. What a disgrace! They were a group of young well mannered 18 year old girls and this restaurant thought it was ok to treat them like this, almost ruining their friends night! I will never go to this restaurant and I will let everyone know about their shoddy service. The girls ended up in Weatherspoons on Lord Street having a lovely meal and were treated as they should have been!

Just found another hidden gem of a restaurant on Dale Street in Manchester's Northern Quarter. My daughter had been several times before to The Allotment and said the food was the best ...but this time the menu was totally different with a new culinary couple taking over the reins so we were slightly apprehensive upon our arrival but our concerns were immediately put to rest by front of house Frankie (she's top notch, especially as she joined in with our giggles about my wife not understanding what a pint of "wife beater" was). But back to the food ...let's keep it simple. SIMPLY "STILL" THE BEST. Enough said.

Good food and tasty but tapas portions were very small for the price. Halloumi skewers recommended. No desert as kitchen was finished at 9 PM!! Disappointing!

Visited here on Friday evening where they had live music as part of their 5th Birthday celebrations. Lovely atmosphere without being too busy. Tasty cocktails with gardening themes and pretty decorations. Lovely place for a relaxed drink with friends

Went here mid afternoon for a drink with the O/H and had a great time. The vibe is really good. The service matched it and if you like gin then there are plenty to try. So unassuming from the outside, so much fun on the in.

Been coming here for a while and love the place, the food WAS some of the best I have ever tasted and the presentation was exquisite, until 22nd June 2019. We booked a table for our anniversary, when we arrived a large party had just cancelled and there were only 2 other tables taken, both were already eating, yet we were told there was to be a delay with the food! I ordered humus to start, it was very dry with chunks of chick pea throughout, it wasn't great but I'm not a fussy person so I ate it without criticism. I ordered the salt and pepper tofu poke bowl for part of my main as I had this previously and it was out of this world, it was so good I could have eaten it every day and never tire of it's amazing taste. As soon as is arrived I could see there was a problem, the tofu was not seasoned and it looked and tasted awful, I sent it back but it came back the same, I asked the waitress if the chef was off but she insisted it was the usual chef. There is absolutely no way the same person could have produced these 2 two meals, one looked and tasted as if it had been produced in a top restaurant, the other a soup kitchen. Not been back since and a bit nervous of eating here again. So disappointed we though we had found the perfect place.

This was a truly memorable experience. Four courses with 3 gins and a beautiful sweet gin cocktail with the dessert. The food was exquisitely presented and tasted fabulous. I cannot recommend this event highly enough. There was a little presentation of the gin with each course, which added to the interest without being overly long. It was nice to hear about the origins and ideas behind the drinks. For £35 for all the food and drink it was unbelievable value. All fully began for myself, but I was assured the lamb was, in the words of my fellow diners, “to die for”. The tofu broth was the best part, huge price of tasty tofu with a teapot full of chilli and earl grey infused broth. Lovely!! Book your special dinner here, folks. A real treat to the tastebuds and the senses!

I went for a spontaneous lunch with my boyfriend on a Thursday recently and really enjoyed our lunch. The decor is really cute, I can’t help but look around and take photos! The service was great, the guy serving was very friendly. We found the food really good, tapas style served as ready. The only criticism was the benches we sat on were extremely uncomfortable. I have eaten here 3 times now and found it quiet every time, foods been great every tome!

Had Sunday lunch here in march. Lovely sharing platter to start. Roast beef for main very rare which is no problem and a good quantity. The surroundings are beautiful and the staff are excellent. My only grip is the veg is sparse and the cabbage was rather salty. However this place is a must I will return.

Booked an early dinner with friends before a concert. Half the party were delayed but the staff were fine and offered us a sharing board while we waited. When it arrived we were impressed by the quantity and quality and there was plenty for 4 people for just £7. Main course food was very good and nicely presented. The recommended wine wasn't great but it was only £12 bottle which was a lot cheaper than the other wines on the menu. Service was very good but then the place wasn't totally full. All in all a very nice experience with lovely food and service.

Popped in for a quick pint and was really impressed. This bar is a hidden gem. The wife had the gin of the day and I had a very hoppy citrucy pint. We didnt eat but the food being served looked and smelled good. They have a menu that caters for meat eaters vegetarians and vegans. Worth a visit.

Fuimos una semana y una carne asada increíble, generosa porción, bien cocinada y un gran servicio. Avance dos semanas, regrese con sus amigos y diga lo bueno que fue y pida nuevamente carne de ternera poco común, esta vez pida carne seca en exceso, Yorkshire quemado y verduras crudas poco cocidas. . . horrible en todos los sentidos, fue impactante que estuviera mucho menos ocupado que antes. Para empeorar las cosas, ni siquiera podía tomar una buena bebida, pedir coque regular y hacer dieta: parecía no escuchar nada. Qué vergüenza, ya que hablaba muy bien de ello y ahora no querría volver otra vez.

Pretty cool idea of English Tapas, and the food was all served fast + absolutely brilliant. Really nice atmosphere, with some really good food at a decent price.

This is the best bar. Great drinks with a fab atmosphere. Visit regularly when in Manchester. Try the gins on offer. Not expensive especially when they have an offer on.

Went for drinks/food with friends here, service taking the food orders was great. Then the food came out.. some orders mixed up, wrong sides, some food without added extras. Some mains came out and the rest came out 20 mins later?? Understandable in a tapas restaurant/if you all ordered small plates, however we all had our food as mains. Feedback from friends- tofo noodles were too salty to finish, burger was average, pulled beef flat bread was lovely, and sharing board was good value for the amount of food. Think we’ll stick to drinks next time

The drinks are always good, the cocktails especially. never had a bad drink. The food is also amazing. The mini Yorkshire puds come with a gravy that i would gladly kill for.

I was just here for a quick after-work drink (we were the only people in the place at about 3:30pm). I got a raspberry and lime lemonade (with added Absolut Vodka, of course) which was quite nice.

We had a fantastic time yesterday gin tasting at the Allotment. Georgia was amazing, really knew her stuff and made everyone feel very comfortable. She personally selected five different gins for us to try with appropriate garnishes and flavours. The bar itself is a hidden gem with really cool decor! Can’t recommend it enough and will definitely be coming again.

The atmosphere here was lovely and the decor is very nice but I found the food disappointing. We had a selection of small plates and while they all looked great I found them to be a bit bland and unimpressive the wild mushrooms were particularly disappointing and the Bombay potatoes had far too many fennel seeds. The highlight was the baked Camembert and the hake was better seasoned than the other plates but slightly over-done. Would possibly come here again for drinks as is a very attractive place but would probably give the food a miss.

Wanted to try here as I used to have an Allotment !!! Good variety on offer. Tasty selection of starters. Staff efficient/nice. However, shame some items not hot enough. Lamb very tough...couldn't chew/swallow.

Día de mercado navideño con amigos, qué mejor que probar unos cócteles. La hermosa decoración del bar de cócteles y con nosotros llegar temprano, era solo nuestro grupo en el bar, lo cual fue genial porque parecía que lo teníamos todo para nosotros.

El barman es realmente molesto. Constantemente trataba de ser un verdadero Alec inteligente sobre el vino y los cócteles cuando estaba claro que no sabía realmente de qué estaba hablando. Cada vez que alguien le hacía una pregunta, daba una respuesta arrogante y condescendiente. Me puse de pie y observé mientras todos los que estaban en la barra lo miraban con sus ojos y, claramente, consideraban que tratar con él era una tarea. Es una pena, ya que te hace salir de aquí. El pub es bueno para unas copas. La comida es comida de pub razonable.

Booked a table a few weeks ago for a first visit to Allotment. The service was excellent and we had drinks while we waited for one of our group who's train had been delayed. The burger, fish & turkey dishes were all delicious and we followed with the chocolate orange fondant & Christmas tiffin which were absolutely yummy. The place has a lovely atmosphere and the decor perfect for Xmas with lots of lights strung around the walls. It was busy even though it was Saturday lunch time and I would recommend booking to avoid disappointment. We will definitely return in the new year.

Called in as a group of four and were immediately struck by its calmness and friendly atmosphere. Staff were very welcoming and happy to engage. Really impressed with the drinks selection given its “small” size. Service was great and, although we didn’t eat here, the food being brought out smelt delicious.

We visited the Allotment bar on a very busy Friday night and we had an amazing time. Our food was served warm and it was delicious. The waiter was lovely and very helpful, for sure I am going to visit this place again.

We have visited here every time we visit Manchester, Allotment is a small off the beaten track bar to those who don’t know the area, great choice of cocktails and beers, food smells and looks great, however never eaten here, staff are lovely and friendly, great atmosphere , decor and clean Facility’s it’s our first stop when in town!

Visited late on a Saturday afternoon, we stepped from a windswept wet street into a lovely, inviting bar, twinkling with fairy lights. Pleasantly busy, music very much in the background, lovely cocktails, helpful friendly service. We had some deserts too, which were good. Would most definitely visit again.

Came here for a nice quiet hen doo. Was booked in advance so had a table. Really nice as you walk in, lots of fairy lights and foliage around. Like an allotment! Nice big table. Good was really good, I was really impressed. Pre ordered. I had the burger with chorizo. Really tasty! And then I had the donuts. Quite sickly but absolutely demolished. Good gin selection. Waiter was a bit rude and ignored some girls waiting for a drinks order.. infact when questioned, the line of.. snooze you lose was probably a poor attempt at a joke, but said without charm or a smile..so probably not. Anyhows.. still a great rating because the food and the atmosphere was so good!

I hadn’t heard about this excellent hideaway until my first visit. I enjoyedtwo delicios small plates and very good house wine but the unique feel of the place is unique, with fairy lights and planted tubs. Cosy and friendly and as the Danes would say, hyggelig!

Came across this place while in town on Sunday and loved it, a really lovely feel about the place. Lovely decorated and great choice of beer, good service very friendly. Will be going back when we are next in town.

We returned but this time using Manchester confidential voucher. £12.50 worth £25.00 We selected a few small plates and enjoyed them all apart from the lamb which I found fatty, Loved hummus, chicken curry, chips, Also selected a lovely bottle of french white. Excellent value with the voucher but otherwise expensive at £26 ! Loved the deco. All staff were friendly and helpful

I went to The Allotment for an early lunch and we were both very happy. My friend is vegetarian and there was plenty of great food for her to eat. We were both very happy with our choices of food and didn’t wait too long for it to arrive. We ordered a tea each and we both got our own tea pot that brewed at least two cups each!

I work nearby in a beauty place and I just asked my clients if they could recommend me a place to go for foot and drinks. I was recommended some places and we chosen that. My friend is vegetarian and she never finds the perfect burger. Now she has found it. Me and my friend also had burger but the meaty one. We all shared the sharing dessert. Everything was just as perfect as it could be <3 oh, and the decoration, the whole atmosphere and everything was so so so good.

They’ve a cracking gluten free menu, only when we sat down to order, it came to light after asking the chef, that fried gf food is cooked in the same fryer as gluten containing ingredients.

Really great atmosphere and decor in this place. I was with a large group and we had sharing platters which were excellent. Staff friendly but probably not quite enough of them, by the bar was rammed we were lucky to be tucked out of the way. We had booked in advance - there would have been no way they could have catered for us otherwise - so definitely book. Menu reasonably priced and good selection of interesting cocktails.

Visited here on a Friday evening. Was reasonably busy but still managed get a seat with the wife. Decent range of drinks. Guy that served me was very good. Very polite and suggested different gins and the relevant tonics. Quaint cosy pub with a lot to offer

Called in whilst shopping on a Friday afternoon for a bite to eat. The service was excellent the waiters friendly and quick although it was quiet so I don't know what it is like when busy. We chose to share some of the small plates everything was good and full of flavour pricewise it was reasonable. I would be happy to recommend and would go back.

Visited here with a group of friends yesterday (Saturday 3rd November) and upon arriving we asked if we could order food. We were told the restaurant was full but we could sit in the bar and order there.

First time in there, will not be going back, drinks are so expensive and it was flat ,you would expect a nice pint for what they charge, but there was no life in the beer what so ever, it cost me nearly £15 for 2 pints and a shot

We went to Allotment on a busy Friday night as a group of 3. Our table was not ready for our booking time of 8pm, however the staff were incredibly apologetic and clearly very busy. They offered us a free round of drinks at the bar, and they kept us very well informed about when our table would be ready. Never the less, we were very happy at the bustling bar.

We went for lunch after a recommendation from a friend. Food from the tapas selection was excellent as were the two cocktails. Service was very friendly and welcoming. We will certainly be returning.

Went here with friends at weekend it was a lovely little pub very quaint and beautifully decorated all with the garden and allotment theme. We were greeted by a lovely lady who showed us to a table and was very helpful and informative with the menu and drinks. We decided on the tapas and small plates and had 3 each to share round, it was all very tasty and well presented. Can’t wait to go here again.

Went for birthday lunch with family and was really impressed. Service was great, even though they were really busy and short staffed. The food was fantastic - tasty and really well presented. We enjoyed the gin cocktails and if we had longer would have stayed for another sharing teapot. Can’t fault it - loved the food, drink and decor and thought it was very reasonably priced. Highly recommended!

Great place, nice and relaxed atmosphere with friendly staff. Food was excellent and Ale was good. Very surprised with the cauliflower burger...will definitely have again. Highly recommend

Went for food and drinks last night, such a lovely place with lovely staff. Shared around 7 small plates between 3 of us - plenty of food. Great G&T;'s and a nice glass of Malbec to finish. Such a lovely place between the bar and eating area too. Will be going again soon.

I came here with my friend on Friday and it was a very nice place to relax in. The bartender was helpful and found me a blood orange gin and it was sooo nice, I also had a glass of white wine which was nice. My friend had a vodka and enjoyed that. The decor is very interesting and looks really good. We arrived at 5pm and it was already busy and I can see why

Dropped in for a drink to kill some time. Very quiet mid afternoon. Great atmosphere & very clean pub. Great Staroporamen! Fabulous music.

Arrived at allotment last night for my partners 40th,not only was our service brilliant and friendly but the food was ABSOLUTELY Amazing everything we had was full of flavour,such a quirky brilliant place

We went for a drink in a large group. They were very accommodating and the drinks were lovely. Great menu.

Caminamos por este lugar y la música en vivo nos atrajo, el pub está bellamente decorado y bien abastecido con ginebra. El personal fue muy útil al elegir Gins y pelar con tónicos. El lugar tenía un ambiente relajado y amistoso, sin duda volveremos a llamar cuando vuelva a estar en esta ciudad.

Hoy almorzamos en Allotment con un amigo. Es un restaurante y bar tan hermoso. En muchos sentidos, es muy Northern Quarter, pero hay muchas más formas en las que se siente caminar al Jardín Secreto cuando llegas por primera vez. Todas las decoraciones están basadas en jardinería, con magníficos azulejos y fotos de parcelas incluso en los baños (muy limpios).

This place is has about 70 plus gins. Also gin special at only £4 a drink. Didn’t try the food but music is good and great feel.

Me gusta comparar un brunch o desayuno establecimientos por cierto hacen huevos escalfados - aquí son perfectas, suaves y líquidos con vinagre ni una pizca de. Personal agradable en un entorno hortícola, anteriormente un banco. Un montón de flores y plantas. Con ganas de probar el menú de la cena. Recomendado.

I’d walked past this place a few times and it wasn’t until I’d seen ok social media some pictures of the inside that it suddenly grabbed my attention!

As part of a stage do my friends and I attended a 'Ginterested' talk on the history of gin with a selection of different gins and mixers to sample. Despite not having an interest in gin beforehand I enjoyed the event greatly; the bar has an interesting decor and our guide was knowledgeable and very helpful (I think her name was Jen but really not sure about this!), being happy to answer any questions. I would recommend the 'Ginterested' package.

We'd originally planned to stay in for our anniversary but quickly changed our minds as we walked past this place and saw the dining area through the window. We booked a table and we're very pleased with the staffs help when we requested to move (partner has recently had surgery on his leg so needed a higher seat). The menu was described throughly and food was definitely a treat although we ordered far too much! The music wasn't too loud although there was a live band and even when the dining area was opened up to accommodate people who were only drinking we weren't over crowded. Would definitely come back
